FleXcit is born
Thank YOU Dr. Richard North

FLEXCIT Logo 01

Hi,

CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of the fully fledged offspring!

I appreciate all too well just what a prodigious amount of work has gone into the gestation period – now it can only be refined, sharpened and presented to patriots all over Britain to spread the word.

May I ask EVERYONE with a blog or web site to PLEASE place a link to this seminal document on their site, to help guide our future as we work (and it will be hard work) to restore & improve our democracy as an Independent Sovereign Nation free to trade globally and arrange our own affairs within the WORLD community rather than being fettered as vassals of the introspective and corrupt EUropean Union.

Moving as we can, as shown by FleXcit, towards Independent membership of the EUropean Economic Community with an option similar to Norway & Switzerland as global traders and leaders not followers – Once again Westminster as the seat of Government of these United Nations can provide the beacon in ethics and democratic values for the world to share and follow.

Thank YOU Richard for the huge amount of work YOU have done in the face of the sniping and sneering of those too besotted by cults to understand the view over the horizon.

The work starts now for the rest of us in our endeavours to raise the profile of FleXcit and spread the word that we can responsibly enact an EU eXit and Survival Strategy, honourably and responsibly.

“If the choice is to be a part of Europe [The EU] or take to the open sea”, then let us follow the advice of our greatest modern leader Sir Winston Churchill and take to the open sea!

Our lifeboat is clearly provided by FleXcit.

Regards,
Greg_L-W.

Hi,

with the upcoming EU elections on 22-May-2014 I felt it was apposite to revisit the question on the minds of the majority of Brits which tends to stretch from the simple and in my opinion sensible Leave-The-EU option which in the long term would I believe serve our peoples, our Country and our planet best and the unworkable and dishonest idiocy of re-negotiated terms with the EU as put forward by Tories who quite clearly are either hideously ill informed as to how the EU functions or just obscenely dishonest in pretending they can change the EU and get unanimous support amongst the other vassal states – the precondition for any major change!

Revisiting an article of Christopher Bookers from last summer little or nothing has changed – UKIP still haven’t a clue and have absolutely no exit and survival strategy just a clique squabbling like ferrets in a sack to stay on the gravy train, with the aim to get more MEPs elected but with zero vision and less hope of changing ANYTHING having abjectly failed to do so to date, hence their continued failure in domestic politics!

The Torieas were shocked into a debate in The House of Commons by the Independent MEP Nikki Sinclaire who gathered well over 200,000 signatures and forced the debate to occur, a debate in which David Cameron’s Government was confronted with his largest ever rebellion and was thus forced to make an undertaking to hold a referendum, allbeit he hedged his bets as ever.

To carry on the fight for a referendum Nikki Sinclaire formed the ‘We demand A Referendum Now Party’ and is standing for the cause in The West Midlands as an MEP – we can but hope this hard working and refreshingly honest and open MEP is re-elected to continue her patriotic defence of Britain and her constituents.

Sadly UKIP having done absolutely zero to support the cause now see this as an apposite band wagon to jump on to get more income by getting more MEPs! However let us not forget thaty UKIP has no ethical leadership, lacks transparency and has such a poor selection rigging process that already candidates are falling by the wayside, exposed as racists, anti homosexual, Islamaphobic and corrupt.

Let us not forget that of the 19 MEPs UKIP has had elected their titular leader has subsumed almost all power to himself, controls incomes and appoints his wife and mistresses to the staff! Little wonder that of the 19 elected he has fallen out with at least half and the balance are as much use as a soup sandwich having achieved absolutely nothing of note in their period on the gracy train!

Even Ukip has no idea how to get us out of the EU trap

Our politicians are stumbling around in the dark when it comes to EU rules. There is only one way we can renegotiate our position with Europe to our advantage

Fears over trade are forcing us into a frustrating 'consensus’ position with Europe

Fears over trade are forcing us into a frustrating ‘consensus’ position with Europe Photo: Alamy

There is virtually no political issue that generates more ill-informed nonsense than whether or not Britain should stay in the EU. We have those 304 MPs voting for David Cameron’s wish to renegotiate our relationship with the EU and put the results to a referendum no later than 2017. We have Theresa May announcing that she is going to demand a British opt-out from 133 EU regulations on law and order, but then apply to opt in again on 35 of them. We have John Cridland, head of the CBI, repeating yet again the old canard that it would be disastrous for us to think of emulating Norway and Switzerland, the two richest countries in Europe, because although they trade freely with the EU’s single market, they have no say in shaping its rules. On and on goes such grandstanding, not touching reality at any point.

The essence of the problem is that, while the British like some aspects of the EU, other aspects make them deeply resentful, without them ever really understanding the rules or how it works. Thus, for many years, as the EU surges towards “ever closer union”, Britain has, in the words of the late Roy Jenkins, become an ever more “foot-dragging and complaining member”. On one hand, the pollsters report that up to half or more of British voters want us to leave. On the other, we have an establishment “consensus” between most of our politicians, media and big business, claiming that, although the EU in its present form is unsatisfactory and needs drastic “reform”, we must stay in for all the benefits we gain from trading with it, and because it gives us “influence”.

It is this “consensus” position that is so riddled with contradictions that it amounts to no more than multiple wishful thinking. There is no way Mr Cameron could obtain the kind of “à la carte” relationship he hints at, let alone that he could do so if re-elected, in time for a referendum in 2017. First, the rules would necessitate a new treaty, requiring procedures so lengthy that it could not possibly be completed by 2017. Second, the return of powers he claims to want would breach that most sacred principle of EU law, that national powers once surrendered can never be given back.

So, legally and practically, it is impossible that Mr Cameron could get anything of what all those MPs voted for the other day. The only semblance of a realistic understanding of all the issues involved comes from a research paper recently published by the House of Commons Library on what would be involved in a British withdrawal from the EU. This explains, with an authority no MP could muster, that the only way Britain could continue to trade freely within the single market without having to accept so much of the rest of the EU’s political baggage, would be to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.

But this, of course, can only be done by a country giving notice that it wishes to leave the EU. This alone can compel its fellow-members to negotiate with it the kind of new relationship Mr Cameron says he wants. And this he could not rule out more emphatically, as again in a recent interview with El Pais, where he said there was no way he could support a vote for Britain to leave.

Regardless of Mr Cameron’s views, however, the Commons researchers then go on to explain how Britain could continue to enjoy full access to the single market by joining Norway and Switzerland as members of the European Free Trade Area (Efta), or, like Norway, as also a member of the European Economic Area. This is precisely the option Europhiles such as Mr Cridland are so desperate to misrepresent, by falsely claiming that Norway has no influence over the single market’s trading rules. Anyone who argues this has no grasp of how the system works. Not only are Efta members fully consulted in the shaping of single market legislation, but much of it now derives from global organisations above the EU, in which Norway has a voice in its own right, exercising more influence than Britain, which too often has to allow the EU to speak for it.

But it is this argument – playing on the fear that unless we remain in the EU we will be without influence and even excluded from trading with it – that would be made the centrepiece of the campaign in any referendum on Britain’s continued membership. So relentlessly would it be put over by supporters of the “consensus”, given full voice by the BBC, Open Europe and others, that it is almost a foregone conclusion that the stay-in vote would win the day.

What has so far been almost wholly lacking from the debate on all this is any properly worked-out alternative vision of what Britain’s future in the world could be if we were to regain our independence by leaving. Equally lacking, although it is again explored in the Commons research paper, is any recognition of just how incredibly complicated a British withdrawal from the EU would be, because we are enmeshed with it by such a mountain of laws and other legal obligations. To disentangle all this would present a challenge so immense that it could only be brought off by a government fully committed to the task and fired up by a vision of how well Britain could thrive outside the EU. This would require a degree of political will which so far simply doesn’t exist.

One of the odd features of this debate is that the only party committed to a British exit from the EU, Ukip, appears to have little understanding of how this could, in practice, be achieved – let alone a positive vision of how well Britain could fare outside it, to counterbalance the relentless defeatism and negativity with which the “consensus” establishment would seek to terrify us into staying in. Too many Ukip supporters take equal refuge from reality by pretending that we could simply wave a magic wand by repealing the European Communities Act. With one mighty bound we would be free. Sorted. These are children.

I confess that when I read that Commons research paper, although it did not say anything new, I did end up depressed. Its calm, common-sense reviewing of the real issues once again brings home just how inane most of the public debate over Britain’s membership of the EU has become. Without the vision and the will to work for a positive alternative, it seems we are doomed just to limp helplessly on as a “foot-dragging and complaining member” of the “European project”, as it itself staggers helplessly on into a drably visionless and ever more uncertain future. So saying, I am off for a few days to Italy to look at 15th-century paintings, from the time when Europe was still in that frenzy of creativity and intellectual engagement that was to make its civilisation the glory of the world.

One thing that has changed since Christopher wrote this article is that a wave of optimism did sweep through the informed as the IEA announced the BrExit prize offering £100K to the winner who came up with the very best and most workable exit strategy to follow the day Britain was announced it would Leave-The-EU.

For a little more detail CLICK HERE
Sadly it transpired that it would seem to have been rigged to suit, it would seem, just one judge who presented a paper immediately before the closing date and would seem to have had a hand in ensuring the apparently pre advised competitors who upheld his unworkable and ill informed paper passed to the final round.
The eventual winner chosen, it would seem by preselection, put forward a particularly ill informed paper which offerd a clearly unworkable solution which was backed by very little refertencing and researching apparent.
To be fair to the IEA they were clearly embarrassed by the exposure of Roger Bootle’s apparent dishonesty and corruption of the process that they withdrew his voting rights as a judge, however the lacked the ethics to denounce him and ensure those who seem to have, either unwittingly or deliberately, cheated were debarred.
I would hazard a guess that there was a pre scan of the 17 finalists and it was suggested that the judges should only bother reading the efforts of the predetermined submissions.
Perhaps I am being a little too harsh, but I did read every submission published and they were weak and unworkable and ill informed thus astonishingly lightweight for  matter of such gravitas.
You may by all means track down the chosen ones via The IEA’s web site and judge for yourself but when compared with the submission I believe to have been the best I would contend there was no competition and even Roger Bootle’s effort was lame in the extreme.
Judge for yourself CLICK HERE
Dr. Richard North’s submission CLICK HERE
It would seem the prize itself has sunk without trace as when you make a Google Search of the issue the media have largely ignored it, no doubt having reached the same conclusion I have here proffered. Further The IEA themselves seem embarrassed by their own apparent dishonesty and have seemingly, having been caught out, dropped the matter like a hot potato in the hope their apparent corruption is overlooked and will not damage their income stream from gullible donors!
IF my conclusion is in some way flawed then perhaps The IEA would care to explain why they, having squandered £100K of donor’s money on their lightweight and unworkable winner have failed to take the matter forward!

Hi,
so far I have refrained from providing the facts on this story on my blog as much of it has been put in the hands of journalists and I feel it would be exceeding poor manners to draw attention to the facts that they have been given, in an effort to clean up UKIP, and publish on my blog before they have had the opportunity to publish the stories.
However you will note almost all of the facts that are coming to light at the moment have been published on this blog in some detail over the years, and unlike others whop are openly being quoted no one can legitimately or plausibly believe I am some sort of embittered anti UKIP troll who had their ambitions thwarted as I have never been a member of UKIP nor any other political party and have repeatedly refused to stand for any political office over the years – frequently making the excuse that I wouldn’t want people to think I was that corrupt! ;-)I was never interested in a job employed by UKIP and clearly as I was not interested in a sexual relationship with Farage nor did I wish to join his claque clearly the chances of preferment in UKIP would have been loaded against me it seems!I did tweet some time ago:

 UKIP: backing the wrong man

 Friday 14 March 2014

000a FT-014 Farage.jpg

The Nigel Farage story has moved on today, but is by no means abating. The media, however are moving away from the slightly risky territory of the UKIP leader paying a former mistress and onto the very much safer ground of him paying his wife, Kirsten, out of his secretarial allowance.

(G.L-W comment: The story which was posted on this blog years ago when Daniel Foggo broke the story in The Sunday Times.)This is where the Financial Times stands, while the loss-making Guardian has resuscitated a video clip, with Farage stating that an MEP could earn as much as a Goldman Sachs banker through claiming expenses and employing his wife. That was part of a longer documentary, Enemy Within, screened on BBC2 in 2000, at a time when there were only Michael Holmes, Jeffrey Titford and Nigel as MEPs. That was the time when the MEPs were pledging to put their surplus expenses into a fund to help people stricken by EU red tape, with a promise that wives and other relatives would not be taken on the payroll.

(G.L-W comment: Many will remember that Farage loudly proclaimed giving £11,000 to The Metric Martyrs however, as they are happy to confirm, never receioved ANY money from Farage, Titford or UKIP.
Farage & Titford were found guilty of fraudulent use of tax payers money and were ordered to repay £11,000 – that time!)After yesterday’s epic front page headline from The Sun, demanding, “Did UKIP with your aide Nige?”, on the back of a page 5 story, the Daily Mail repeats the allegation today that Farage had an affair with Anabelle Fuller, who returned to Farage’s personal payroll last year. The paper thus asks, “Could Nigel Farage’s ‘weakness for women’ be his Achilles’ heel?”, declaring that: “Ukip leader’s love life may be his undoing at May’s Euro elections”.

However, a piece on Huffington Post rehearses yesterday’s story, but is notable for some of the comments which suggest that Farage’s private life is his own affair, and nobody else’s business. That is fair enough comment, or would have been until Farage decided to mix business with pleasure. Then it becomes a legitimate public issue.

(G.L-W. comment: It is far more the business of voters, tax payers and EUroSceptics more than any as he has clearly employed a number of his sexual partners on the payroll people whose talents are clearly other than as researchers, PR or politics in general which probably explains why UKIP is so lacking in competent research & gravitas. Particularly as the UKIP leadership mantra known well to many has always been ‘What happens in Brusells stays in Brusells’.)And Farage has most certainly been mixing business with pleasure. I recall once walking into Farage’s office in Strasbourg, only to find him in a passionate embrace with the latest intern, while Kirsten was actually in town, with his newly-born child.
(G.L-W. comment: How discreet of Richard when the fact is in the office Nigel Farage was caught in delicto flagrante with a French intern who it was common gossip he passed on to Paul Nuttall when he had ffinished with her and put her on the payroll – Her name is well known, however there is no value in naming her as she like annabelle Fuller are just using their notable assetts for financial gain it seems and are not alone in UKIP.They themselves are of little or no significance beyond the fact they are on the payroll for abilities other than political competence it seems.)Later, we – the staff – had the embarrassing experience of having a fiery Kirsten storming into the office to demand from us information on what was going on. But far from being repentant, Farage gave the intern a full-time post. It thus became evident that the way to success for an attractive female was via Farage’s bed.

Very much later, the Daily Mail tracked down this former employee, but she refused to spill the beans, then having her own career to think of as a full-time Brussels functionnaire. That left the paper without a libel-proof story, so the details were never released.

As for Annabelle Fuller, her relationship with Farage was an open secret. Such was their lack of caution that Farage had to be warned several times about making it too overt. He was, for instance, cautioned against taking her to Washington for a long weekend at the taxpayer’s expense. But he never denied to friends and colleagues the nature of the relationship.

(G.L-W. comment: Were Farage an honest man he could confirm I warned him of the danger and advided him not to take her as he would be setting himself up – he took my advice and at the last minute dropped her from the trip.)

Once the newspapers started to pick it up, though, both emphatically denied their tryst, making ample use of the services of no-win, no-fee legal services. More that a few journalists fell foul of the Farage sting, leaving a legacy of ill-will that could only bode ill.

The show-down with the long-suffering Kirsten, however, could not be put off forever. More than once, she had locked him out of the house when he had returned in the small hours from his drunken, womanising binges, and with one expensive divorce already costing him dear, he could not afford another.

The question thus remains as to whether Farage did a deal with public money. At the moment, no one is saying, but not a few in the party have been asking whether paying Kirsten her £30,000 salary was “hush money” for putting up with Annabelle. There had to be a reason for breaking all the promises ever made by UKIP about not hiring wives.

But now, even Mz Fuller is back on the payroll. I think we are also entitled to know if that is because she knows where too many bodies are buried. For whatever reason, a woman with an erratic background and little to commend her, is being paid a stellar £60,000 salary by Farage – plus additional fees to her PR business.

Thus, the UKIP leader is paying his women as good as £100,000 a year from taxpayers’ funds. And it is that, not his sexual peccadilloes, which is rightly in the public interest. We, like The Sun, are entitled to ask questions about these employments.

000a Sun-013 UKIP.jpg

The point, of course, is that secretarial allowances are to enable MEPs to service their constituencies and perform effectively as elected representatives. For that, research is essential, an area in which UKIP generally – and Farage in particular – is dismally lacking.

As a former researcher for Farage’s one-time group in Brussels, the EDD, I know only too well how vital the research role is. After I left, the role was never properly serviced. Bloom even sought my services again, but I recall my response being: “not even if hell freezes over”. I now work as a researcher in a private capacity, for some decent men.

But I am very far from being the only competent researcher in the business. And for £100,000 a year, Farage could buy some serious capability. How much of the low-grade output coming out of UKIP is the result of his spending taxpayers’ money on keeping his women quiet?

If he had done as I had suggested, and taken a like amount from the expenses of each of the UKIP MEPs, with additional group funds we could have set up a world-class research unit in Brussels, relying on the overhead being paid for by the European Parliament.  The aim was to rival the famous Conservative Research Department, the unit which kept Margaret Thatcher in power.

Despite all sorts of malicious rumours and ill-informed gossip, that was the real reason Farage and I fell out. I wanted the party to be research-led, pre-empting the FUD, keeping our MEPs and members properly informed and making a solid, unimpeachable case for leaving the EU. That’s why, in the first instance, Booker and I wrote The Great Deception, a book Farage did his best to sabotage, seeking to prevent it being published. On the other hand, he was already frittering away money on fruitless enterprises, on hiring his women and on topping up his already generous pension from his office expenses. The courageous Spiked online, meanwhile, deletes my comments on its own sycophantic piece, even as the sky darkens with pigeons coming home to roost. With the likes of Spiked and others giving him an easy ride, Farage has got away with it for so long that he believes he can walk on water. But now, a number of journalists – who have also had to put up with a number of more sinister threats than just libel suits – have found ways of showing that he is just another opportunist politician on the gravy train.

That, of course, leaves UKIP members out on a limb. Yet Farage, in his own defence, asserts that his supporters “have had to develop thick skins and brave resilience when dealing with ‘smears'”. By this means, he dismisses the recent press as “part of a concerted campaign to undermine us which just makes us dig our heels in and wave off the Establishment”. But it won’t wash.

This is exactly what one might expect of Farage, but those who wish to dismiss current events as “smears” need to grow up. It is a miracle that their leader has got away with it for so long. He has held hostages to fortune for so many years that it was only a matter of time before he got his comeuppance. If hadn’t been this, it would have been something else.

Nor is this the end of it. There is much, much more in the pipeline. By the time the media has finished, the only thing left of Farage’s reputation will be smoking wreckage – however long it takes. His supporters have been backing the wrong man. They need to be thinking about how to rescue the party before it too crashes and burns.

May I remind readers that Nigel Farage personally gave an undertaking on Meridian TV prior to being elected an MEP that UKIP MEPs if elected would under no circumstances employ wives or family members, having no doubt obtained many votes on the strength of this undertaking it clearly wasn’t long before Farage employed his wife and hi mistresses and other sexual partners. This fact did not come to light until we published the facts which were taken up by the media just as is occurring at the moment as they scour this blog and that of Junius for more reliable facts.
The theft of an MP’s House of Commons Pass, his telephone and correspondence by Annabelle Fuller, whilst enjoying employment courtesy of Nigel Farage, is also proving of interest to the media! If you want more details on these iniquitous abuses of public money I suggest you keep a close eye on the British media, who are giving them the attention they deserves, despite the other important stories in the news at the moment be that Oscar Pistorius Trial, Malayan Airways Missing Plane, Tony Benn’s Death, Russia on the verge of War with Ukraine as it seizes Crimea – yet still you will see the Farage Party featured! We can expect UKIP to make every effort to spin this story be that with Annabelle Fuller trying to draw the fire for her ex lover by bleating about being picked on – No one is interested in her it is her behaviour and that of Farage which is the matter of concern it is Farage who has been all too enthusiastic in lambasting the EU for wasting money and wrong doing.

I note Farage in staggering hypocrisy has been accusing Nikki Sinclaire of being a bitter thwarted ex member of UKIP with a vendetta which is clearly a fantasy face saving effort by Farage.

Farage also claims she acted and named him and his unethical behaviour and abuse of tax payers’ money as an act of cowardice, by acting under Parliamentary Privilege,  which is a bit rich when you consider the use of Parliamentary Privilege particularly when he exposed Barrott’s offences.

For the moment I will leave readers to follow up on the facts in the media, including the dishonest denials and lies of Farage!

 Global governance: the simplified version

 Sunday 15 December 2013

000a tanker-015.jpg

“Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made”, said Bismark. And he was right, but only after a fashion. It is now no longer possible to observe our laws being made and the process has got to the stage where it is beyond human comprehension. Take, for instance, the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances.

Although these issues are currently controlled by EU law, specifically Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, there is much more to the law than meets the eye.

For a start, one should note that UK was actually one of the first in the field, as this website helpfully shows: we go back to the Petroleum Act of 1879 and the Petroleum (Consolidation Act) of 1928. The latter remained (with subsidiary regulations) the major legislative control on the transport of all dangerous substances until the 1980s.

By then, EU had got into its stride and the issue had long been an EU “competence”. The original laws from that source was Council Directive 67/548/EEC, which was modified several times up to and including Commission Directive 86/431/EEC.

In 1978, however, there had been an appalling tanker disaster in Alcanar, near Tarragona, in Spain. A tanker truck loaded with 23 tons of highly flammable liquefied propylene had blown up, killing 217 people (including the driver). Some 200 more had been severely burned.

This triggered a period of legislative hyperactivity and by the early ’90s, there had been so many amendments that some tidying up was badly needed. The European Commission thus proposed consolidating law in 1993, and again in 1994, but the proposal was withdrawn on 9 January 2004 when it had become obsolete.

The reason for this is that global governance had taken over. In 1992 the lawmaking responsibility had been transferred to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). It was coordinated and managed under the auspices of the Inter-Organisation Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC) Coordinating Group for the Harmonisation of Chemical Classification Systems (CG/HCCS).

Just to make it interesting, the participating organisations of IOMC were the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

However, once work got underway, The Global Environment Facility, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank joined the IOMC participating organisations. The joined with the International Forum on Chemical Safety (IFCS) in a steering committee established to oversee what became known as the Strategic Approach to International Chemical Management (SAICM).

To ensure this process ran on track, the technical focal points for completing the work were handed to the ILO, the OECD and the United Nations Economic Social Council’s Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCETDG). Once completed in 2001, the work was transmitted by the IOMC to the new United Nations Economic and Social Council’s Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (UNSCEG/GHS).

UNEP and WHO took lead roles in the secretariat in their respective areas of expertise and the Transport Division of the UNECE provided secretariat services.

With their assistance, the first version of a Globally Harmonised System (GHS) was approved by the Committee of Experts in December 2002 and published in 2003. It was this, plus revised editions published in 2005 and 3007, which is more or less the definitive version of the law.

This, as we all know, forms the basis of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008. And, being a European Regulation, it takes direct effect, automatically passing into British law. It doesn’t even need the agreement of the Westminster Parliament.

Once we leave the EU, though, we can scrap this horrid EU law, wave goodbye to the New World Order and dust off the Petroleum Act of 1879 and the Petroleum (Consolidation Act) of 1928. Then, we can go back to Scammell tankers, Morris Marina vans and corner shops. All will be well with the world.

To view the original article CLICK HERE

Interestingly this Law, Edict, Convention, Agreement or what ever you wish to call it is thus a new version of Britain’s 1879 Petroleum Act as amended  as a Consolidation Act of 1928 as nacted by global agreement and signed into law by The Uruguayan Housing Minister and The Swedish Environment Minister on behalf of its global assentors! All this without so much as a murmur of British input to the new version and given the visible imprimatur, meaningless as it may be, of The EU!

It does rather put in perspective the naive and crassly irresponsible claims of Farage’s Party and his delusional fan club in the UKIP cult when they simplistically claim that Article #50 is a trap and that all Britain needs to do is pass some half baked three line paving act and send a bus to Brussels to collect our staff!

The staggering misunderstanding of their sometime economics spokesman Prof Tim Congdon is astonishing!

Granted he is an economic theorist and since economics is not a science but a mish mash of theories it is maybe not so surprising that he has so little understanding of the realities of international treaties as displayed in his writings and publications.

I happily concede I tend to read his papers and also his think tank web site not infrequently but I find it seems more to sell his viewpoint than to solve the problems of our nation or offer solutions for UKIP.

Let us not forget Congdon did try to gain the leadership of UKIP at one stage but seemed to be being sabotaged by his so called agent!

It would be interesting to watch the squirmings of both Farage and his clique and Tim Congdon as thery tried to address the outline of the enactment of law on a global basis! To date they have never come anywhere close to having a strategy for exit from the EU and the complexity of surviving the withdrawal.

Do not forget that UKIP has failed totally to address policies on a grown up basis endlessly coming up with half thought out policies where cutting their losses they never seem to competently cost their plans nor address the issues with any degree of gravitas tending to take the childish and irresponsible course of populism.

Fear is always a popular tool in the hands of the self obsessed and ambitious!

Hi,

I am pleased to present yet another piece from the well informed and experienced political commentator Dr. Richard North:

UK politics: playing away

 Saturday 4 May 2013

000Mail 004-ele.jpgI will be in London today talking to the Campaign for an Independent Britain, on the general subject of “the way forward” for euroscepticism.

It will come as no surprise to readers of this blog that my list of things we must have in order successfully to secure an exit from the EU does not include the Farage Party, which is more and more looking like a cul-de-sac. And in a subliminal message which affirms that, we see the front page of the Daily Mail (left) where any news of the “great victory” is remarkably absent.

Unfashionable it may be to say in certain quarters, but to attract the support of 6-8 percent of the electorate in council elections (and 9.4 percent in a by-election) is not evidence of a wildly successful popular campaign. And this is less so when, with each passing election, the pool of engaged voters steadily diminishes, as evidenced by the declining turnouts.

As we have remarked before, the obsession with share of the vote, where turnout is in free fall, has the hallmarks of two bald men fighting over a comb – although it is more like a gang of people squabbling over its possession.

000Guardian 004-ele.jpgIt is perhaps appropriate, therefore, that the newspaper that makes the greatest front-page display of the Farage Party success is the loss-making Guardian. This left-wing newspaper is only too well aware that the only way of resuscitating the flagging Labour campaign is to big-up UKIP in the hope of damaging the Conservative Party.

Therein lies an uncomfortable truth. However, much it may protest otherwise, at its current level of support, when it has absorbed the transferable votes from the BNP, arising from the collapse of another one-man-band, by far the greater bulk of UKIP’s support comes from disaffected Conservatives.

Come the general election, which is the only election which matters to the political claque, the Left will certainly be egging on the “party of protest” in the expectation that it will continue to do disproportionate damage to the Right.

And, confronted with the challenge, Mr Cameron’s Conservatives will do whatever it takes to neutralise the threat. For, if Farage has succeeded in anything, he has certainly got the attention of the political classes.

The ironic thing is that the most immediate outcome of grabbing the Guardian front page is one of two possibilities – either the election of the Labour Party to office in the 2015 general election (with or without the Lib-Dems), or resurgent Conservatives who will most likely offer as the bribe to restore their fortunes an EU referendum that we cannot possibly win.

I would find this latter even doubly ironic – for UKIP to force upon the nation a referendum for which it is wholly unprepared, where it would be completely outflanked, then to saddle us with a lost vote which will set the eurosceptic movement back a generation.

But then, whatever else, Farage has never included amongst his attributes anything approaching tactical acumen or strategic planning. Right now, though, his dogged pursuit of a twenty-year-old game plan might now look on the threshold of a breakthrough. But the truth is that it has no better chance of success now than when he first scribbled it on the back of a beer-soaked bar mat, at the end of a boozy planning session.

Perhaps that “plan” emanated from the Grand Old Duke of York pub, because Farage is marching his troops to the top of the hill. Too soon, he will be marching them down again, back into the intellectual cul-de-sac from which his “cunning plan” originated.

And that is what I will be telling the CIB today, plus a few more home truths. Those views won’t necessarily be welcome, but I suspect there may be a few there capable of straight thinking and I won’t have to make a quick dash for the exit. We shall see.

UK politics: a wasteland of democracy

Friday 1 March 2013

Times 001-cle.jpg

The media are glibly talking of the “humiliation” variously of David Cameron (Independent) and the Conservatives (Telegraph), completely unconscious of the fact that the by-election result represented a humiliating defeat for the political class as a whole.

As Your Freedom and Ours points out, people are not turning out to vote for any of the candidates in any numbers. But, when the lead candidate goes to Westminster on the back of 17 percent of the electorate – not even one in five of the voters – that represents a crashing failure of the political class to take the people with them.

But then, when we see Clegg stand alongside the new MP and proclaim “we overcame the odds”, while The Times talks of a “stunning” victory, the nature of the problem becomes apparent.

The great divide then yawns into a chasm when Lib-Dem party president, Tim Farron, claims: “This is a staggering result … it will be a turning point in this parliament and that we are in a position to win this seat completely changes the narrative of the parliament”.

And while the voters delivered a majority of 1,771 for the Lib-Dems, it is interesting to note that aside from the Lib-Lab-Con-UK matrix, there were ten other parties in the field, including the Monster Raving Loony Party, which collectively polled 2,056 votes.

Farage talks glibly about the Conservatives “splitting the UKIP vote”, and also hails UKIP’s “strong showing” as a sign of “revulsion” at the three main parties across Britain. But there were over two thousand voters who thought more of the likes of the Beer, Baccy and Crumpet Party than they did of his offer. Those votes were sufficient to deprive his candidate of a seat in Parliament.

What is thus very, very clear from this result is that the politicians simply haven’t got the message – any more than has the media. They are regarded, collectively, with a mixture of indifference and contempt. Party politics and voting in this country have become a minority preoccupation.

The result today, therefore, is not a disaster, per se for Cameron and his Conservatives, as some would have it. It is a disaster for the flawed experiment in representative democracy, another nail in the coffin of a failed system.

As for UKIP, the picture remains muddy. Your Freedom and Ours observes that their plan to become the third party after the Lib-Dims has fallen by the wayside by the latter’s victory in Eastleigh.

They cannot pretend that they are the second party in the country with no MPs and very few councillors. So, despite the undoubted rejoicing in the UKIP ranks and despite the nauseating plaudits that will be heaped on the Dear Leader, the fact remains: after 20 years and in the most propitious circumstances they remain in no-man’s land.

Increasingly though, this is becoming the “no-electors’ land” – a wasteland of democracy. And the politicians can’t even bring themselves to admit it.

COMMENT: “EASTLEIGH” THREAD

 UK politics: Eastleigh by-election

Friday 1 March 2013

BBC 029-eas.jpg

More than usual hyperventilation has attended this by-election, with some pretty bizarre predictions, even by the rather low standards of British political commentary. For what it is worth, my (private) prediction was that the Lib-dims would romp home, the Tories would come a poor second, Labour third and UKIP would keep their deposit with about seven percent of the vote … all on a very low turnout of 40 percent.

But then, I was certainly wrong on the turnout, as early reports put the it at 52 percent. This is higher than I expected although low in contrast to the 69.3 percent cast in the 2010 general election. All the same, no one at the beginning of the count was expecting the earlier tosh about UKIP winning to materialise, although there was still some expectation that UKIP might make second place.

As always though, the postal votes were set to play a crucial part, with 14,000 issued, and the Lib-Dems expected to take the lion’s share.  Given that most of these votes were in before the latest groping controversy, that vote was expected to be fairly solid.

UKIP had to beat Ray Finch’s 2010 performance, when he took 1,933 votes, taking 3.6 percent of the votes cast, losing his deposit. In the 1997 election, the Referendum Party fronted Victor Eldridge and took 2,013, also coming in with 3.6 percent of the votes. Thirteen years had not delivered any appreciable enhancement in eurosceptic sentiment in Eastleigh.

The talk though is of UKIP becoming the reservoir of the protest vote, and in particular capitalising on concerns about immigration.

And, at just after 2.30 am, the result came through. The Lib-Dems did indeed romp home, coming in with 13,342 votes, against the second comer at 11,571 votes – UKIP.  Second place for Farage’s party, nearly a thousand ahead of the Conservatives at 10,599.  Labour trails at 4,088 votes. So much for my powers of prediction.

Mike Thornton’s vote of 13,342 votes compares with Chris Huhne’s 24,966 in 2010, yet Thornton talks of a Lib-Dem “mandate”, having dragged in a pitiful 32 percent of the votes cast, and 17 percent of the electorate of 78,313.  UKIP’s great victory amounts to 28 percent of the votes cast, or 14.8 percent of the electorate.

This is a victory of sorts – bald men fighting over a comb, squabbling over a diminishing quantum, where an MP goes to parliament with a “mandate” of 17 percent of the electorate.  It never was democracy.  Now, it isn’t even representative.

EU politics: “I come to bury UKIP, not to praise it”

Thursday 20 December 2012

Mail 000-com.jpg

If we are to believe the Daily Mail and, to some extent, the The Daily Telegraph, David Cameron has been so spooked by the apparent rise in support for UKIP that he is now determined to “fight the 2015 general election as an anti-Europe party”.

To loud banging of desks, he told the 1922 Committee last night that the party had to get “the big calls right” and there was no bigger call than the decision the party had to make on Europe.

Thus, records the Telegraph, he told his MPs, “I want you all to be absolutely clear – we will go into the next election with a clear Eurosceptic position. It will clearly be in tune with the British people, we will be the ones offering the British people a genuine change and a genuine choice”.

What Cameron then said was that he wanted to “grab the opportunity” to win a “clear mandate” at the next election to reshape Britain’s relationship with Europe – so marking the transition from a man who, when he first became Tory leader, told his party to stop “banging on about Europe”.

Predictably, comments (where they are allowed) are hostile, with UKIPites to the fore, questioning Mr Cameron’s good faith. The failure to deliver on the “cast iron” promise of a referendum on Lisbon runs deep, and has gravely damaged his credibility.

However before UKIP crows too much, the game plan is very much as predicted, and can hardly have been shaped by recent events. On this blog, we have consistently maintained that Mr Cameron would hold off any action on the EU until after the election, and that we would see a promise of a referendum as a means of “parking” the issue until the election was over.

So far, this is exactly what we are seeing – despite the belief in some quarters that we would see a referendum before the election. That was never going to happen. And, while Mr Cameron might at this stage be pledging to fight the election on “Europe”, we can be pretty sure that he will use whatever pledge he makes to neutralise the issue for the duration of the election campaign.

What is emerging more clearly, though, is that Cameron is under huge pressure to offer an “out” option in any referendum promise. All the indications are that he is still going for a renegotiation, although he cannot have been cheered by Hollande’s responses at the last European Council.

The confused state, therefore, probably reflects the confusion that reins in Downing Street and, indeed, in Mr Cameron’s own mind. The best understanding of the state of the art suggests that we can get no sense of what is going to happen because Mr Cameron has not himself made up his mind as to what he is going to do.

Nevertheless, the prime minister has at least committed himself to delivering his “Big Speech” on the EU by mid-January. After the successive delays, he would find it very hard to resile on that, and further delay would be damaging. Reading the runes, with Cameron telling us that the Conservative Party will be offering the British people “a genuine change and a genuine choice”, he is going to have to come up with something very convincing to still the growing criticism of his inertia.

While the pundit are focusing on UKIP, though, there are some indications that strategists are looking beyond the superficial nostrums offered by the Mail. Whatever the polls might currently say, the fact is that UKIP has only been able to draw on an average three percent of the electorate over the last twelve by-elections.

Compared with that, we are facing the prospect of thirty percent of the electorate going AWOL at the next general election. Pulling in a proportion of that cohort could outnumber the dissidents and bury UKIP. After all, if Cameron does genuinely offer us a referendum with an “out” option, would it make sense to keep the Conservatives out of office?

Richard North 20/12/2012.

May I strenuously suggest that all who read this blog make a point of reading Richard North’s excellent blog on a daily basis at CLICK HERE

Hi,

as Dr. Richard North knows better than most: UKIP have absolutely no intellectual bottom!

UKIP in 20 years has NEVER had any kind of training program and is endlessly reactive with clearly no vision, no sign of Strategy EVER and notably no tactics.

One only needs to note the racist, xenophobic, criminal, anti Jewish, anti Islamic, anti homosexual links and track record of UKIP to realise they currently offer no part of the solution and have largely befouled and discreditted the EUroSceptic movement – is it any wonder that in terms of British politics UKIP have been a spectacular failure with under 30 people elected to any office of note out of some 19,500 available seats!

It really doesn’t matter what the polls say when very clearly the Ballot Boxes in real elections averages out between 3 > 6% – This places UKIP no closer to a say of ANY consequence at Westminster tyhan in 1993 when alan Sked founded the party.

Subsequent to getting 12 people on the gravy train in 2004 it is hard to identify a single solitary example of an achievement of any note towards the aim of Leave-The-EU – Just what is UKIP for? Beyond of course a small clique’s enrichment and a route to the gravy train for a small claque!

It is all very well for a few elderly men to hang onto their ill informed beliefs and the concept that EUroScepticism is some sort of hobby for their dotage!

The attacks and abuse from UKIP that is poured on the heads of anyone who dares to rattle their grubby little scams is legendary.

Yet again Richard and others have fallen foul of the thought police in UKIP who in their blinkered ignorance listen in adulation to their leader’s 3 cheeky chappie speaches and glib invention of policy on the hoof now that he has engineered a position of dictatorship in his personalised party, for lack of anyone of any consequence, competence or gravitas ever challenging him.

We who truly seek better governanance and an end to Britain’s membership of The EU must move on leaving UKIP behind in its sordid group of extremists, racists and pro EU reform rather than withdrawal of The EFD Group Farage has gathered to make more money!

The Harrogate Agenda is at least thinking about the problems and debating with a view to a way forward – on UKIP’s growth pattern over 20 years it will be at least 100 years before they could ever clearly be in a position of relevance towards the aim of Leave-The-EU or even seriously influence it!

There is a desperate need for a Harrogate Agenda or similar, a need for political thinking, a need for a very clear exiit and survival strategy relative to The EU. Britain has between 7 & 9 days of food supply and after that all food imports are a matter of EU contracts, it would not be possible to make a single international phone call after leaving The EU and France owns 80% of our power supply – It is not some childish concept of pass a paving bill to revoke The ECA and revoke our signature to The Treaty of Rome and its subsequent amendments.

Exit from The EU is only possible through implementation of the terms in the treaties our political elite have stitched us into. Simplistic revocation of our undertakings are bound under The Treaty of Vienna and international laws of consequence rather than the dictum of The EU – Just as The WTO’s consequential relevance is the style of implement we shall have to invoke to set aside any efforts of The EU to restrict Britain’s trade when we Leave-The-EU.

So may I suggest, since UKIP has no vision, plan, strategy or gravitas Press on with The Harrogate Agenda & ANY oportunity for serious debate – perhaps heaven forefend UKIP just might make some efforts to act with some integrity and intelligent debate rather than ‘defending their seats on the gravy train’ with any form of defamatory attack they can make on any true EUroRealist who dares to seek to point out that UKIP has proved it is unfit for purpose in its present state of amateurism and sham clearly aiding The EU in maintaining control of these United Kingdoms against the will of a clear majority of British peoples.

Good luck to Richard and those like him who seek to work towards a solution through debate and rigorous appraisal perhaps The Harrogate Agenda will be the vehicle for progress to change our governance – perhaps just one of the wheels on which that vehicle advances.

IF we fail to change our method of governance then even when we Leave-the-EU we will merely slide into the next political scam that rewards politicians with massive bribes from the public purse made up from the disproportionate taxes levied on their victims.

This is not about You or I nor about enrichment and jobs – this is about us and the future of our peoples, our values and our principles the future of our children and grandchildren in freedom and dignity, stability and self respect.

Thank you to all who have set their egos and agendas aside to debate what will hopefully deliver what we had all hoped UKIP would but which they clearly failed to.

.

Perhaps as a starting point some may wish to consider:
1. Surely the 6 Point (Harrogate Agenda) should be THE 6 rights of ‘We the people: one people Under Law…’

2. The 6 rights should be headings for 6 or maybe more detailed rights within each sub section can be a method of enhancing, repealing or improving by referendum on a clearly defined & structured basis with defined required majorities for change.

2. The 6 rights should thus be the foundation of OUR ‘Declaration of Rights’ once adopted it can become ‘The Citizen’s Rights’. Note the apostrophe they become the inalienable rights of any one citizen of these United Kingdoms.

3. The Citizens’ Rights must include the expectation of the rights of those that serve them.

THEN:

We move on to how The Citizen’s Rights are incorporated into law under a Constitution of and for these United Kingdoms and its peoples.

I would contend that though, as has been stated, our system is indubitably, if we consider such Constitution and rights as they now stand, FUBAR but worse than that due to abuse – be that the idiotic stance of those seeking what they claim to be doubly entrenched law under such constitution as with Act of Settlement or Magna Carta we now find they have been so abused over the years by a devious ‘political class’ seeing itself as an elite as to be considerably more a case of being FUBAR BUNDY!

I contend we must not presume to plant a fully grown oak tree but rather an acorn.

The progress of that acorn and the degree of care in its nurture will determine the health, strength and durability of the eventual oak but we must not too greatly define it or we become in danger of having a stylised bonsai of little use to ‘We the peeople etc. …’

In brief first we must define the 6 core headings.

In my humble opinion – then the rest will fall into place.

6 core headings which will form our acorn and as I have just proved brevity is harder to achieve than precis ;-(

Good luck as Britain needs it in the face of the ineptitude of its present politicians and the style of governance that has so clearly failed us if not betrayed us!
