Hi,

it does look as if Ukip are getting ever more desperate, I guess rightly so, but surely they could have found someone of experience to act as Party Chairman until they could find an individual of some stature, gravitas and obvious ability rather than select a random functionary from head office at Lextrum Office.

I note the incoming Party Chairman has started out by a direct challenge to the current Party Leader over the foolish concept of seeking to recruit the very dubious Tommy Robinson!

I guess we have the early rounds of yet another round of Ukip fighting like ferrets in a sack!

Minded that Ukip is so financially bereft it doesn’t even have sufficient cash for printing!

Dear Member,

As you are now probably aware, Tony McIntyre has taken the decision to stand down as Party Chairman. He dedicated far more than was expected and he was a pleasure to work with. It is right that he puts his own health first and I would personally like to offer him the thanks he clearly deserves. He has made clear that he will remain a loyal supporter and activist.

I have had the pleasure of meeting many of our members but for those I have not, let me give you a brief introduction; I began working for UKIP in the lead up to the 2014 European elections, answering the relentless telephone calls from supporters and detractors alike and administering donations and new members onto the party database. There were approximately 30 people working from Lexdrum House at that time and the atmosphere was truly electric.

Some of you may remember the late Ralph Gay. A founder member and an extraordinarily hilarious and grumpy character who acted in the capacity of Branch Administrator. After his untimely passing, I took over as Branch Administrator for a brief period whilst also setting up the UKIP vetting process. Thankfully, Ruth Purdie was able to take on the branches while I focused on vetting and candidates which is most likely how those of you who do recognise my name have come to know me. I must emphasise that having worked with the team at Lexdrum house, they really are an invaluable asset to our party.

It is an honour to have been appointed by Gerard as your new Chairman and having worked closely with 3 former Chairmen now, I have a pretty good idea of what I’ve let myself in for. I can assure you that I will work hard to support the entire 23000+ strong UKIP team and we certainly have an awful lot to be working towards. For me, the thing that I believe should be at the top of everyone’s priority list is Brexit! The nation WILL be shafted in one way or another and the path is clear for us to save it but we have to do this NOW. UKIP has the only Brexit plan that is truly for the people! I’d like us to get some Brexit Plan leaflets ready in the next couple of weeks to distribute to regions and branches but they aren’t cheap. Local elections are also just around the corner. It would be unrealistic and naive to expect us to have a candidate in each of the 8000 or so seats up for grabs, but we should try for at least half. Of course, we still need to be prepared for the next General Election – whenever this may be. We also need a strong campaign team and this is something I plan to get sorted straight away. I cannot stress just how important it is that the British public have an opportunity to vote for UKIP. Every vote against the establishment sends a clear message for Brexit.

You may also be wondering – Where do I stand on Tommy Robinson? Well, I’ve taken a rather simplistic view, and while I agree it is an important issue that warrants discussion, right now, we should be united in our fight for one issue – BREXIT! We have all worked too hard to let Brexit be betrayed and we must put all other internal matters to one side until it is achieved. For this reason, I would not be inclined to allow membership of anyone from any proscribed group at this time. Having said that, I entirely believe that our Leader has every right to seek support and advice from whoever he wishes. Gerard is doing an incredible job and has made some excellent decisions which have indisputably saved our party. I say we let him get on with speaking to people from all walks of life, in the interests of policy development and contributing to our party’s strategies going forward.

I’ve probably said more than enough now but I look forward to working with you all and I will try to keep you updated regularly and honestly.

From losing seven attempts at becoming an MP to computer illiteracy – these are the 48 things you should know about the former UKIP leader.

1) Born on April 3, 1964, Nigel Farage is younger than Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.

2) In 2014 Farage claimed: “I don’t think I know anyone in politics who’s as poor as we are. We live in a small, semi-detached house. A small semi-detached cottage in the country and I can barely afford to live there.” Nigel earns €100,000 per year as an MEP, collects another €300 per day as a living allowance, gets free first-class travel on top and until recently charged the EU another £27,000 per year to pay for his secretary, who happened to be his wife. His small semi in the country is worth over £550,000, and all four of his children have attended fee-paying schools.

3) Farage rose to notoriety in February 2010, when he publicly insulted new EU president Herman Van Rompuy, telling him he had “the charisma of a damp rag”. The clip of Farage’s speech has been viewed 1.4 million times on YouTube.

4) Farage has claimed up to £15,000 a day from the European Parliament for bodyguards. He spent £58,000 of EU money on security for five events, including one at a darts arena in Essex which attracted no protesters whatsoever.

5) In January 2015, after an incident in which he was forced to stop his car when wheel nuts came loose, Farage claimed sinister forces had tampered with his vehicle and that he had reported the matter to French police. The owner of the garage which repaired his wheels later reported that the problem had probably been caused by poor repair work.

6) Farage’s German wife Kirsten says he has serenaded her with football song ‘Two World Wars And One World Cup’.

7) In May 2013 Nigel had to be rescued from an Edinburgh pub after a group of 50 protesters blocked his exit while singing “Nigel you’re a bawbag, na-na, na-na.”

8) The first thing Farage did after crawling from the wreckage of the light aircraft crash which nearly killed him in 2010 was to ask for a cigarette. He was covered in aviation fuel at the time.

9) When Nigel visits his local pub, the George & Dragon in Downe, near Bromley, he often sits by a sign reading ‘Be Nice Or Leave’.

10) In 2012 Farage claimed the lack of council flats in London was because “if you come from Eastern Europe, all you have to do is to get a national insurance number – which you can get easily within a fortnight – and then you qualify automatically for social housing”. In fact, no-one qualifies automatically for social housing and only the employed can get on the list, while obtaining a national insurance number takes months rather than weeks.

11) In February 2015, Farage spoke at CPAC, a gathering of American rightwingers in Washington DC. His speech drew an impressive crowd of 250 people in a hall built to accommodate 5,000.

12) In 2014 Nigel was alleged to have formed a very close friendship with his former press aide Annabelle Fuller. She said they had bonded when she advised him to always drink a glass of water with his breakfast kippers.

13) Things progressed further and it is alleged on their first night of passion Farage had slipped into bed “wearing a white T-shirt and white Y-fronts” before whispering “that my arse had looked amazing in the moonlight”. Later he told her to say nothing of their affair “to save Brexit”.

14) Farage has denied claims that while a schoolboy at Dulwich College, he and a group of fellow Army cadets “marched through a quiet Sussex village very late at night shouting Hitler Youth songs”.

15) In 2017 he tested his popularity in Essex by bringing his one-man show to Clacton-on-Sea’s Princes Theatre. As of the day before the gig, he’d sold a whopping 179 of the 802 available tickets.

16) At a 1981 meeting to select Dulwich College prefects, one teacher remarked that young Farage was “a fascist, but perhaps that was no reason why he would not make a good prefect”.

17) In 2013, a journalist spotted Farage grabbing a red wine from a train drinks trolley. It was just past 11am.

18) He inadvertently referred to his followers as “the great unwashed” during a live BBC interview. Farage told Daily Politics that Theresa May’s speech in Florence was “a big two fingers up to 17.4million, the great unwashed who wanted Brexit.”

19) Farage only has one testicle, after contracting testicular cancer when he was 24. He refused to have an artificial testicle implanted.

20) Nigel was asked to leave his job at French bank Crédit Lyonnais Rouse in the early 1990s after taking a drunken friend onto the floor of the Stock Exchange.

21) Nigel shared a flat in Brussels with former UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom, who in 2013 questioned the concept of foreign aid by saying “how we can possibly be giving £1bn a month, when we’re in this sort of debt, to Bongo Bongo Land is completely beyond me.”

22) Farage’s wife said in 2014 that he was virtually computer illiterate. “He can send and receive texts and that’s it… He can scroll up and down, he has learned that – but that is pretty much it. He honestly doesn’t know how to [use a computer] and he has missed the boat, I don’t think he ever will now.”

23) In 2006, the News of the World reported the claims of a Latvian woman who claimed Farage had picked her up in a pub in Biggin Hill and made love to her seven times in one night before falling asleep and “snoring like a horse”.

24) Nigel lost in all of his seven attempts to become an MP.

25) In 2000, the brother of Blackadder star Rowan Atkinson accused then-UKIP chairman Farage of leading a dirty tricks campaign against him. Rodney Atkinson lost the party’s leadership election by 16 votes to Farage’s favoured candidate, Jeffrey Titford.

26) In the same year, the BBC announced it would not be screening a documentary made during UKIP’s campaign for the 1999 European elections. Nigel asked for a video of the programme and then got a friend to make copies, which were later sold for £5 apiece through the party’s magazine.

27) Farage was once invited to speak at a rugby club, only to find out when he arrived that he would be sharing a bill with ventriloquist Roger De Courcey and Nookie Bear. Said Farage: “He was amazing. He did a stand-up routine and only then did he produce the bear. The bear gave him licence to say anything. And he did so.” Some people don’t need a bear.

28) In July 2015, Farage became enraged at the fact that it was Luxembourg’s turn in the rotation to take up presidency of the EU presidency and commission. “A country smaller than Croydon is running the European Union,” he said. In terms of square miles, Luxembourg is 30 times the size of Croydon and is home to 175,000 more people.

29) Nigel admits he was no good at maths while at school.

30) Farage wore Union Jack shoes to a celebrity party held on the Sunday after the referendum, during which he met Rupert Murdoch.

31) Farage spent 11 months in plaster after being run over outside Orpington Station in 1985. He’d been in a local pub for most of the afternoon, “debating the Anglo-Irish Agreement.”

32) Nigel’s A&E notes after the accident read “lucid but aggressive”.

33) Farage was nearly caned at school for drinking whisky. He later wrote of the moments awaiting his punishment: “My arse twitched. My genitals bunched.”

34) Former City trader Farage wants everyone to feel sorry for City traders. He said “they commute in conditions that are Third World, work under an enormous amount of pressure and are forced to live in the most expensive part of the UK.”

35) Farage claims to have lost his company a seven-figure sum on the zinc market during a single morning in the 1990s, then insisted on carrying on with his customary liquid lunch. Nigel says that when his boss asked him where he thought he was going, he replied: “Out to lunch, but if you want me to take my jacket off again and stay put, I can start losing the same amount this afternoon if you’d rather.”

36) In a 2014 interview with Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom, Nigel revealed that while “I don’t think Hitler was very funny”, he thinks “Mussolini can be quite funny.”

37) When Farage turned up two hours late to a meet-the-leader UKIP event in Wales in December 2014, he blamed “open-door immigration” for the fact that the M4 is “not as navigable as it used to be”.

38) One of Nigel’s favourite words is ‘mega’. He has described both poet John Betjeman and the 1980s drinking culture at the Stock Exchange as “mega”. When in 2014 a UKIP MEP described a Thai constituent as “a ting tong from somewhere”, he visited the woman to offer her “mega, mega apologies”.

39) In 2017 Katie Hopkins accused him of not being Brexity enough because of his lack of support for Anne Marie Waters in the UKIP leadership election. “He chose his Labour Broadcasting Corporation @LBC pay check over 17.4 million Brexiteers. End of.”

40) After a period of abstinence, Farage took up cigarettes again in 2016. With a Govian disregard for experts, he says: “I think the doctors have got it wrong on smoking”.

41) In 2014 Farage was accused of taking £15,400 from the EU to pay for his constituency office, despite the fact that it had been given to him rent-free by an admirer.

42) In 2010 Farage described Belgium, which has been independent since 1830 and has a population of over 11 million – greater than that of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland combined – as “pretty much a non-country”.

43) Pictured in 2014 holding the hand of tourism official Ande Soteri leaving a bar in Malta at 3.42am, Farage insisted he had done so only because the woman was disabled.

44) Nigel believes breastfeeding mothers should have to do so in the privacy of the women’s toilets “or perhaps sit in the corner, or whatever it might be… I know particularly people of the older generation feel awkward and embarrassed by it.”

45) Farage blamed the infamous 2014 interview in which he said people would be concerned if Romanians moved in next door on being “completely tired out.”

46) Nigel refused to join in with a standing ovation given to Prince Charles by MEPs in 2008. He has called the heir to the throne “a deluded chap who wobbles around”.

47) Farage has broad tastes in comedy. He enjoys both the WWII sitcom Dad’s Army and ‘Allo ‘Allo, a sitcom set in WWII.

48) He was the subject of the most unfortunate, and yet the most accurate, typo in recent history on the BBC News website: ‘Nigel Farage hired by Fox News as a political analcyst’.

NIGEL FARAGE’S former press secretary Annabelle Fuller had an eventful 2014: she was accused of being the Ukip leader’s mistress (strongly denied by all concerned), had a row with Mr Farage’s wife, took an overdose and fled to the West Country to set up a hat-making business. Now she is back – under a new identity. Ms Fuller, using the name Trixy Sanderson, is working as a press officer for Ukip defence spokesman Mike Hookem. Does Mrs Farage know?

Hi,

I have today received further information regarding a published article of 29-Apr-2015. The material has been sent to me specifically for publication by Ian Gilman via a third party.

I have no reason to believe it is other than true though I have been unable to confirm it directly, though it does link with plausible correlation to the media reports of the time, regarding the removal of the candidate.

Further the comments regarding the destruction of evidence is entirely to be expected relative to the Ukip MEP Derek Clark who was a thoroughly dishonest man and had fraudulently spent a large sum of public money which he was ordered to repay – although he was put under police investigation no charges were brought which I believe it is entirely reasonable to believe was because of his age and mental state. Though Ashley Mote was prosecuted and sent to prison a second time although of similar age.

Derek Clark was a consistent liar and frequently tried to discredit both this blog and that of Junius with his dishonest and defamatory claims. You may recall the many times Derek Clark lied that he had not been forced to repay 10s of £1,000s he had fraudulently spent just as some will remember his boasts of just howmuch he had stolen from the EU, claims he boasted of openly at public meetings yet tried dishonestly to deny when I published the details!

I’m sharing this post on here with you all, so that you know why Irenea Marriott is standing as an independent candidate and not for ukip, it’s easier to broadcast this so you can read for yourself, how two very sneaky individuals have, in my belief, orchestrated this whole thing. ……I posted this to her recently in support.

I remember years ago in 2004 when you started working voluntary for UK Independence Party (UKIP), I didn’t trust politicians one bit as most people my age don’t, I had never voted, even though I was in my early 20’s because I thought all parties were corrupt, a bunch of smarmy, smiling assassins, making promises they do not intend to keep, in order to get what they want and where they want and then destroying your country, with stupid decisions the people did not ask for and never making good on those promises, that got them their power (rather not have a hand in getting that person to power, so better not to vote was my philosophy) I told you back then that they would use you up and spit you out when it suited them, but you told me and countless others that they were different, even got me to vote for the first time in my life and I voted UK Independence Party (UKIP) from that point, because I may not have trusted politicians but I trusted you and it was only on the weight of your words of support for them, as honest people that cared for this country, promising to give Britain back to the British and being independent from others that I have voted for them ever since. As an army wife at the time, I in turn encouraged many soldiers, forces families and friends over the years to vote Ukip up and down the country, many of whom you met.

Being from such a large family yourself you encouraged many of them also to vote for ukip, as well as your numerous friends and various high ranking connections. I often worried about you, when I would hear that even in ill health you were out on the streets in all weathers, leafleting and spreading the word for the party. I often told you off and asked you to at least take a break, but you were stoic and believed truly that you were making a difference for not only your children and grandchildren, but your beloved country and it’s people, that is what kept you going and pushing ever forward, especially at a time when ukip were unheard of, other than people thinking you were a bunch of, how was it put?

A bunch of closet racists? and the reaction you got from people was not always pleasant but aggressive and I feared for your safety regularly.

So imagine my surprise when after all your hard work I hear that you have been, in my opinion, constructively ousted from ukip and their explanation?

That conveniently around election time, that it had been brought to their attention that you were allegedly in cahoots with Britain first?

Because apparently to state that you agree that Lee Rigbys killers should get the death penalty, on a Britain First post is fraternizing with the enemy?

You and the rest of Britain probably agree with that statement made on that post.

Ukip realised they had made a mistake listening to over exaggerated claims by an anonymous source and immediately re instated your membership.

However you went on to find out, that in the last week before election papers were called that you were being denied to stand as a candidate for Ukip on the new RO’S, a Mr Paul Oakdens instruction, who had swiftly used your prior cancelled membership as a means to find another candidate on the last day when it would be, in my opinion, too late for you to contest this decision.

Even though he knew you were innocent.

So why would this RO make such a move, when you had (A) already been found innocent (B) had stood twice prior as MP with good results and (C) had also stood twice as Councillor, coming 2nd on both occasions.

Isn’t the point of choosing candidates, to choose the ones that would be most successful? Mighty suspicious to say the least.

I believe all these events came into play because members, including yourself, were and had already been questioning the constant rule breaking by Mr Oakden that seemed to fall on deaf ears, but came to light more when another member challenged the underhanded and corrupt manner at which the new chairman got his seat for Nottingham district branch over you, with the help of the same Mr Oakden and the questionable character and past of the said new chairman, that did not disclose, as is the rules, what other parties he in fact belonged to.

For all Ukips talk and the very definition of their name Ie being independent from the EU, Mr Oakden placed a foreign gentleman, who has only lived in the uk just under 2 years, has no loyalty or love for Nottingham or it’s people, into a place of power, which he did by breaking numerous rules.

A man that is now known to have been an active member of a far right political party whilst living in his home of Italy, a party akin to the BNP. By the rules this man should never have gotten that position sheerly on his past connection to that party, but he did, he was voted in by means of broken rules by Mr Oakden, which again should never have been allowed.

When the aforementioned member challenged the new chairman and Mr Oakdens conduct other members asked if these accusations were true, you merely told the truth when asked, yes they were.

Ukip or at least some people within it, do not want honest people working for them it seems and they have shown by their actions, to my mind, their true colours, that they are prepared to bend and twist the rules and go against everything they supposedly stand for, to get ahead.

I for one will not be voting for them again and I shall make sure that every single one of my many contacts hears about their treatment of loyal members, whose only crime was to tell the truth and try to protect the party from corrupt people.

Maybe Nigel Farage, who you’ve personally campaigned with, does not know the cloak and dagger act going on behind his back, but he seriously needs to take a look, because you are all under the umbrella name of Ukip, if people see corruption, they think you are all corrupt and there is no denying rules have been flouted and certain underhanded people are doing his party serious damage at voting time.

You have enough support and sway with people to be heard if you put the same effort into being heard as you have with getting that party acknowledgement, I suggest you show them how a true British Bulldog bites!

Don’t let a few bad apples take away something you have worked so hard for. Many others like myself will not understand and will question, as I did, why such a loyal member of all these many years, has suddenly decided to stand as an independent, once they hear how things have unfolded and you were left no choice, they will draw the same conclusions I have, because it is crystal clear to me that you have been railroaded and no one will vote for a party with such practices and if they thought for one minute, that their treatment of a lady held in such high regard, by so many people, could be kept quiet they were wrong.

UKIP is to lose its committee seats on Stoke-on-Trent City Council after one of its councillors left the party.

The eurosceptic party won its first two seats on the authority in May and went on to join a coalition with the City Independents and Conservatives.

But Ukip is now set to lose its ‘political group’ status following Richard Broughan’s decision to resign from the party.

This will mean Ukip will lose its seats on two scrutiny committees, which have been occupied by Mr Broughan. The seats will now be assigned to the City Independents instead.

A CITY councillor has been criticised for an ‘offensive’ social media post about migrants who died while trying to reach western Europe.

Abbey Hulton and Townsend councillor Richard Broughan, pictured, deactivated his Twitter account after making a ‘joke’ about migrants who died travelling from Hungary in a lorry last month.

But Mr Broughan has denied the message, which asked ‘#IsItOk to ask migrants to ‘chill out’ following the Austrian refrigerated lorry incident?’ was racially motivated.

The Ukip councillor insists he was joining in with a debate on TV programme The Last Leg – and the reaction to it is nothing to do with his withdrawal from Twitter.

SUSPENDED Ukip councillor Richard Broughan has resigned from the party following a row over an ‘offensive’ tweet.

The Abbey Hulton and Townsend councillor had been criticised for telling a ‘joke’ on Twitter about 71 migrants dying in a lorry.

Ukip officials say this followed earlier incidents of ‘unacceptable behaviour’ within the local party branch.

He has now left the Eurosceptic party and is currently sitting as a non-aligned member on Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The in/out referendum on the UK’s European Union membership will take place by 2017.

“It was taken during the General Election at a moment when UKIP was being demonised and it is being dragged out to coincide with our launch”.

“It is clear that only UKIP offers voters in Gloucestershire the alternative between the remote, privileged and out of touch Bullingdon Club elite in charge of the Conservative Party, and an extreme left wing Labour Party soon to be led by Jeremy Corbyn and members of the Militant Tendency, who brought the great city of Liverpool to its knees back in the 1980s”.

But Mr Farage said his name was not mentioned in the polling, and accused “soft Conservative Eurosceptics” of trying to damage him.

Mr Farage confirmed earlier this week that he will not seek designation for himself or his party as official leaders of the No campaign but said he was ready to “work with anybody” in the battle for withdrawal – including the No campaign set up at Westminster and the Know group launched by business figures including Ukip donor Arron Banks.

He insisted Mr Corbyn’s election as Labour leader was now “all but certain”, and argued that his influence could be decisive.

Nigel Farage held another event in Westminster this morning to announce the dates of his “Say No – Believe in Britain” tour, through which he hopes to drum up support for a Brexit.

Mr Farage said he expected Mr Corbyn, an experienced left-wing Megapixel that keeps taken aback the following formation along with climb from rank easlily recluse to actually sexy best among the Labour choice, appeared to be identical to him basically because they both impressed everyone out your “Westminster village”. In fact, the opposite: I’ll work with absolutely anyone for us to get a No vote in this referendum’.

‘If people are put off by what they’ve heard this morning well I can’t do much about that. “They have seen Greece trampled upon, they see a transatlantic trade treaty which they are anxious could threaten the viability of the NHS”.

‘I accept not everyone is going to think Ukip is fantastic or I’m fantastic…but that’s why we need the centre left – whether it’s Corbyn or somebody else – appealing to those voters as well’.

Asylum: the wages of ignorance

Any respect we ever had for The Daily Telegraph long drained away, to be replaced by a slow-burning contempt for the editors and proprietors who let a once-proud title degenerate in the way it has.

A milestone in its descent to the bottom, however, must be its latest editorial on the asylum crisis, with the accompanying authored piece by Nigel Farage which jointly and severally demonstrate the profound ignorance of the newspaper team and the Ukip leader on this issue.

Addressing first the Telegraph piece, we have the editorial note that Germany is now expected to receive 800,000 asylum seekers in 2015, describing this as part of “Europe’s migrant crisis” which, it says, “has reached astonishing proportions”.

Although not technically wrong, it is not helpful to call this a migrant crisis. We are dealing here with asylum seekers, many of whom after processing will be declared refugees. Some others will be afforded leave to remain on human rights grounds, while the others will be considered economic migrants. Some of those will be deported. Others will disappear into the population and become illegal immigrants.

Effectively, therefore, there is a refugee crisis. And within that is an exacerbating factor of economic migrants piggy-backing on the refugee flow, making two separate but linked problems. But neither of them are migrant crises as such. To define them in this way is completely to misrepresent the problems – and therefore obscure the solutions.

This, though, is the least of it, as far as the Telegraph goes, for it then goes on to assert that the arrival of these people is precipitating in Germany a greater awareness “of the desperate flaws in the way that the EU handles its utopian promise of the free movement of people”.

Such an assertion is bizarre – bizarrely wrong. The flow of asylum seekers to Germany has nothing whatsoever to do with the EU’s treaty provision of free movement of people, which applies only to citizens of the EU Member States (and EEA states), and then within the external borders.

What we are dealing with here is something completely different – in law and fact – the effect of the 1951 Geneva Convention on Refugees, and the 1967 Protocol, together with the adoption of its provisions in the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights, which also makes asylum seeking a human right.

No sensible or knowledgeable writer could possibly consider an information piece without mentioning this. But then this is the Telegraph, whose task in life seems to be to misinform its readers and parade its own ignorance.

Free movement, it asserts, “seemed attractive and logical during the Cold War, when western Europe was more isolated from the world’s poor by the Iron Curtain”. It then tells us: “But in the 21st century, poverty and war have driven millions to seek a new life within an expanded EU”.

The irrelevance of this is obvious – “free movement” isn’t the problem. Except the Telegraph says it is. Then building on its error, it declares: “The problem has been exacerbated by two policies. One is the Dublin Convention which states that the responsibility for asylum seekers lies with the country in which they first arrive”.

As a small aside, the Dublin Convention ceased to be in 2003 – to be replaced by the Dublin Regulations. But the problem, the newspaper argues, is that in recent years those countries have been Italy, Hungary and Greece – and they have simply been overwhelmed.

But this is an over-simplification to the point of distortion. One of the first receiving countries was Spain, which has evaded its international obligations by building fences and virtual barriers, then to divert the flow elsewhere. As Greece, then Bulgaria and now Hungary follow suit, EU asylum policy has become a grotesque game of “pass the parcel”, with Italy, Malta and Greece ending up having to deal with the bulk of asylum seekers.

What then happens is that these countries are failing to fulfil their EU responsibilities. Instead of registering and processing the incomers – and deporting those who do not qualify as refugees – they are allowing them to pass on to other member states – and especially Germany and Sweden, where they are applying for asylum de novo.

The Telegraph claims that, in so doing, the receiving countries are exploiting “the second flaw in the EU’s approach: the Schengen Agreement, which commits its signatories to passport-free movement across borders”.

Italy, Hungary and Greece, we are told, have been permitting, or even quietly inviting, their asylum seekers to relocate to other countries. Enormous numbers have gone to Germany. The Germans have embraced refugees as atonement for the sins of the Second World War. But 800,000 is a figure to trouble even the most bleeding-heart liberal.

Once again, this is completely to misunderstand the nature of the problem for, even before Schengen, border controls had been removed. Were they to be reinstated, all that would happen is that – as we’ve already pointed out, those seeking recognition of their refugee status would simply apply for asylum at the border posts. Schengen is a complete red herring.

Needless to say, the Telegraph isn’t alone in getting things wrong. Politicians throughout the continent are failing to understand the effects of their own policies, but somehow one expects more from a pompous “know-it-all” newspaper which holds itself up as the authority on such matters.

Its pomposity knows now bounds, where it grandly but wrongly declares that the “EU essentially exists to regulate a free market”. Is failings, it asserts, “mock the grand claims that it makes for itself – betraying a reality of incompetence and, where it leads to humanitarian crisis, such as in the Mediterranean, moral failure”. But in this case, the ignorant speaks unto the incompetent, when the paper completely misdiagnoses the problem and ends up telling us: “The EU needs to get its borders in order”.

With the display of such ignorance, it is only fitting that it should then go on to give space to the malign bigotry of Mr Farage, who seems determined to drag us down to his level, and wreck any chances of winning the EU referendum, by declaring that “immigration” will be the defining issue of this EU referendum campaign.

There is no excuse for this quite deliberate elision of immigration and asylum – two entirely separate issues, with their own bodies of law and policy domains.

Alarmingly though. Farage is picking up on an Ipsos Mori poll which has half of the public identifying “immigration” as one of the biggest issues facing the UK. This is something which the polling company itself should not have recorded, as it too is mixing up disparate issues.

Needless to say, Farage exploits the confusion, as he has always done, associating the flood of asylum seekers and would be refugees with the European Union “open border” policy.

Despite the fact that refugees account merely for five percent of entrants to this country in any one year, we have the Ukip leader milk the publicity, building this entirely separate issue into one singularity – all under the heading of “immigration”. Thus he says:

We see the chaos in Calais, where thousands of migrants are risking their lives to get from France to Britain; we see refugees in their thousands risking life and limb as they cross the Mediterranean on ships sailing from Libya. And we see that the issue of open borders and mass immigration is no longer simply an issue of social problems and the impact on British workers, it is fast becoming one of national security.

To resolve this, the fool declares that the British people “want an Australian-style immigration policy that allocates work permits to those our economy needs, that says no to those whose skills we do not need, and that gives an emphatic denial of entry to those we have any suspicion want to do us harm” – as if that would have the slightest effect on the flow of asylum seekers.

Matching the Telegraph for its ignorance, he then writes of witnessing “the failed policy of the EU’s open borders, supported by the establishment politicians to the detriment of our nation”. When the referendum comes, Farage concludes, the British people will finally have their chance to reject these open borders by saying “no” to the European Union.

But all Farage is doing is holding us hostage to fortune. Despite his own manifest ignorance on the subject – and despite the lacklustre performance of the Telegraph, in the two years to the referendum, there is plenty of time for people to learn of the real issues behind the asylum crisis.

The danger for us is that they will turn against the likes of Farage, offering false nostrums and exploiting the misery of others for his own political ends. Elsewhere we have written of the hazards of promoting misinformation, citing Gene Sharp, who tells is: “Claims and reporting should always be strictly factual. Exaggerations and unfounded claims will undermine the credibility of the resistance”.

This is a lesson Farage is incapable of learning – and doubtless one of the reasons why he is such a failure as a politician. But there is no reason why we should let his ignorance drag us down.

Below is the Telegraph article in full – showing just how self serving and lightweight the populism of the article is and just how misleading and lacking in solution such an approach can be when personal ambition and ego get in the way of competent journalism in what was once respected as a serious newspaper!

Clearly when Britain leaves the EU rthere will be little or no change to our border controls if we hope to continue trading with EU partners and the rest of the world. We must remember that in a fragile balance we, like every other nation on this planet, enter into grown up arrangements with eachother that have little or nothing to do with the EU who merely re-write them in the jargon of the ENARCHS and pass them on to the vassal states of the EU. The laws themselves are made by world bodies like the UN, WTO, CODEX, Davos and a raft more.

It is unsurprising that people have lost sight of this and rather childishly believe when we leave the EU all our ills will be solved but what is more concerning is that supposedly responsible newspapers are willing to pander to this populist and extrermely irresponsible myth!

One reason the media may well be peddling this level of misunderstanding may well be in a venal self interest to apease advertisers or in the likes of the BBC to apease their benefactors in the EU who provide them with free studios and journalistic access with the jam on their bread and butter provided by multi Million Pound loans to featherbed their grossly over generous incomes and lack of real imvestigative journalism beyond the knickers, vicars and the odd bent political or police figure level! grants they receive.

Another great snag is the fact that the halls of academe are seeded with many 100s of so called ‘Erasmus’ professorships and student scholarships all in real terms funded from the propaganda budget of the EU. It is from amongst these EU funded organisations that much of the spin is provided, not least by quotes supplied to businessmen by their EU employers and founded on little more than the dirst aim to keep the entire, largely failed, EU project staggering forward – Let the Greeks or for that matter the Portuguese, Irish, Italians and Spaniards, or even in rare moments of honesty, the French tell you of the success of the EU economic policy and membership of the EUro which is crippling EUrope as it slithers forward on a bed of lies, bribes and bullying!

In very simple terms the EU is not even prepared to admit the fact that all are aware of Greece will NEVER be able to pay off its current debts let alone interest and essential future borrowing their GDP can not and never will sustain such debts. When you consider the levels of dishonesty that have created this misery is it any wonder that politicians working in that system will say almost anything to hang onto their grossly inflated incomes, bribes and expenses – as you will note in the Telegraph article below!

Europe’s migrant crisis has reached astonishing proportions. Germany is now expected to receive 800,000 asylum seekers in 2015. This amounts to roughly 1 per cent of the country’s population, or a little more than the population of Leeds. They come from war zones beyond the continent, such as Syria; but also from the poorer parts of Europe, including Kosovo and Albania. And with their arrival, Germany becomes ever more aware of the desperate flaws in the way that the EU handles its utopian promise of the free movement of people.

Free movement seemed attractive and logical during the Cold War, when western Europe was more isolated from the world’s poor by the Iron Curtain. But in the 21st century, poverty and war have driven millions to seek a new life within an expanded EU. The problem has been exacerbated by two policies. One is the Dublin Convention which states that the responsibility for asylum seekers lies with the country in which they first arrive. In recent years those countries have been Italy, Hungary and Greece – and they have simply been overwhelmed.

To alleviate this problem they have exploited the second flaw in the EU’s approach: the Schengen Agreement, which commits its signatories to passport-free movement across borders. Italy, Hungary and Greece have been permitting, or even quietly inviting, their asylum seekers to relocate to other countries. Enormous numbers have gone to Germany. The Germans have embraced refugees as atonement for the sins of the Second World War. But 800,000 is a figure to trouble even the most bleeding-heart liberal.

German politicians have called for greater integration of asylum policy across the EU, including higher refugee quotas among all members, though how that would work with open borders is a mystery. Some regional officials have called for controls between nations to be reinstated. France and Austria have tried closing their borders with Italy, sending those without the right papers back. In Calais, after weeks of chaos, a deal has been signed between the French and the British to deal with a sometimes violent crisis. Thomas de Maizière, Germany’s interior minister, has acknowledged that the very principle of free movement is suddenly up for debate. “We want free movement of people,” he said, “but… the question is what does free movement of people mean in Europe?”

The answer is probably that free movement will remain for citizens of the EU but that there will have to be a much tighter enforcement for anyone who falls outside of that definition. This belies the EU’s self-image as a liberal, internationalist project. In reality, it is protectionist and will probably have to engage in the variety of conservative policies normally associated with Australia. There does need to be an aggressive crackdown on people smuggling. Asylum applications ought to be lodged and processed in countries outside of Europe. And those seeking asylum from within the EU will have to be swiftly deported if their claim is rejected.

The EU essentially exists to regulate a free market. At Calais it has failed: the free movement of people has been stymied by the migrant crisis. In Germany, poor control of the continental border has led to a population explosion that may prove grist to the mill of extremist parties who want to destroy the EU altogether. In other words, the failings of the EU mock the grand claims that it makes for itself – betraying a reality of incompetence and, where it leads to humanitarian crisis, such as in the Mediterranean, moral failure. The EU needs to get its borders in order.

With an avg. 1.2M voters per MEP & Britain having only 8%, if united, say. The EUropean Parliament has no ability to make policy and has a Commission of unelected bureaucrats, thus clearly the EU is not even a pretence of being a democracy; yet it is willing to slaughter people in Sovereign States to impose democracy on them!

The imposition of a Government and policies upon its vassal regions such as the peoples of Greece shows just how far from being a democracy the EU is.There will be little or no change in Britain’s economic position, when we leave the EU and by then being a part of the Eropean Economic Area all will benefit, as we secure trade relations with the EU vassal regions and can trade and negotiate independently on a global stage.

One huge benefit will be that we can negotiate with bodies like the WTO, UN, WHO, IMF, CODEX and the like, directly in our own interest and that of our partners around the world in both the Commonwealth and the Anglosphere at large; rather than having negotiations and term imposed by unelected EU bureacrats.

The greatest change and benefit will be political, as we improve our democracy and self determination, with the ability to deselect and elect our own Government, which with an improved Westminster structure, see >Harrogate Agenda<.

Hi,

I wonder can Ukip pay its debts by the due date on 06-Jul-2015 or will it face additional debts in the form of fines, which may well also go unpaid and could lead to the insolvency Courts and the winding up of Ukip – displaying yet further just how incompetent Nigel Farage and his clique are at leading his failed cult!

Let us not forget that the aim of a General Election is to win seats at Westminster NOT to get lots of unproductive votes returning ONE MP, an MP who is seemingly only a Ukip MP in name but not in spirit – a failed Tory who when he could not get a room in the Tory conference hotel and was allocated to an annex by the Whip’s Office is said to have had a temper tantrum and accepted a payment from Stuart Wheeler to fund his by-election and an undeliverable promise to be annointed Ukip leader – and quit the Tories to become a big fish in a small and largely irelevant backwater.

It would seem that it may not be sihonesty and corruption alone that means Ukip fail to pay their obligations and show contempt for the British Courts and legal system as you will recal they are still morally indebted to me for some £13,000 + interest which they have failed to pay – clearly these liars and scoundrels have trousered so much of the money the party has received they plain can;t pay their bills.

Gone are the days, it seems, when they were believed to have funded Mark Croucher’s two pubs, as hush money, as he proudly boasted at the time!

Not only it seems that they can’t pay me nor it seems can they pay £500,000 of other bills!

Ukip leaders are trying to plug a reported £500,000 hole in party finances after they “lost control” of finances in a general election spending spree.

Nigel Farage is said to have told an emergency meeting of the party’s national executive committee that Ukip would have to take a loan or be bailed out by a donor in order to pay its election-related invoices by July 6, as required by law.

Hi,

in reading of the activities of Annabelle Fuller in relation to the police enquiry do be minded that it is an undenied fact that she had been drinking all day and was confirmed as having targetted the Tory MP Andrew Bridgen and returned to his flat with a mutual aquaintance, from where he is understood to have called Nigel Farage at least twice, after midnight!

Annabelle Fuller then left the flat, having stolen Andrew Bridgen’s House of Commons Pass, some confidential correspondence and his Blackberry phone device – which she subsequently boasted of.

In leaving the buildinghaving taken her shoes off she also stumbled or fell and struck her forehead causing a minor injury, which seemed to have vanished when she was at Ascot shortly after!

Annabelle Fuller was acosted and held by the building security and the police were called – the story follows on and it is a matter of record that after her allegations put forward as a defence for her theft and other actions, she subsequently withdrew the claims! It was not until considerably later, seemingly faced with an enquiry, that she announced she was mentally unstable and had later taken tablets and made an attention seeking claim of self harming!

One wonders when the police will aquit their duty and arrest and charge Annabelle Fuller and grant justice to Andrew Bridgen to clear his name of what seem to be the fantasies of Annabelle Fuller and her proudly boasted of theft – Andrew Bridgen deserves basic justice as Annabelle Fuller’s allegations were contributory to the breakdown of Bridgen’s marriage and the subsequent loss of continuous access to his children!

It would seem Nigel Farage’s apparent bluster when questioned can only muddy the water and would seem to be an irresponsible action of self defence regardless of the criminality of his sometime mistress Annabelle Fuller who has for many years been paid for by Ukip/EU funds!

Nigel Farage has been interviewed by Scotland Yard over claims that his alleged ‘ex-mistress’ fabricated a sexual assault case against a Tory MP, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The Ukip leader was quizzed by detectives investigating whether Annabelle Fuller falsely accused Andrew Bridgen of groping her on the balcony of his flat after an evening in a Westminster pub.

Mr Farage’s police interview, conducted earlier this month, came after officers gained access to Ms Fuller’s phone records to check her account of events with people she spoke to that night.

Sources have told this newspaper the encounter between the police and Mr Farage was ‘lively’, with the politician asking forensic questions about the investigation.

‘It was debatable who was actually interviewing who,’ said one.

There is no suggestion Mr Farage was aware at any stage of any alleged wrongdoing by Ms Fuller. He was not cautioned before the interview.

When contacted last night, Mr Farage said: ‘I would expect any conversation I have had with the Metropolitan Police to be kept confidential. I am appalled that any detail has been disclosed.’

The astonishing saga started in June 2011 when Mr Bridgen, 50, was arrested after Ms Fuller claimed to have been touched inappropriately after returning to Mr Bridgen’s flat with the MP and a fellow drinker. She fled from the property in the early hours –grabbing Mr Bridgen’s BlackBerry mobile phone and Commons pass in the process – before filing her complaint.

Charges against Mr Bridgen were dropped when Ms Fuller, 33, withdrew her allegations. The MP for North West Leicestershire says the case wrecked his marriage to wife Jackie, and he now has limited contact with his children.

Ms Fuller was described as Farage’s ‘former mistress’ under parliamentary privilege last year by former Ukip MEP Nikki Sinclaire. Both Mr Farage and Ms Fuller, who until last year worked as an aide to the Ukip leader, strongly deny an affair.

Last summer, Ms Fuller said she took an overdose and tried to cut her wrists after a confrontation with Mr Farage’s wife Kirsten, at a party celebrating Ukip’s success in the European elections.

Mr Farage has faced turmoil within his party since he backed out of his pledge to resign if he failed to win Thanet South at the Election. He did stand down as leader –but for just three days.

Last week, his deputy Suzanne Evans appeared to have been dumped as a party spokesman for saying that Mr Farage was a ‘very divisive’ figure who should not lead the EU ‘Out’ campaign. A day later she was ‘un-sacked’ as she had been removed without ‘proper authority’.

Scotland Yard’s investigation into Ms Fuller was launched after Jasna Badzak, a former Ukip official, said that following the incident Ms Fuller had boasted to her of seeing messages from David Cameron on Mr Bridgen’s BlackBerry.

Last year, Ms Badzak was sent a police ‘Prevention of Harassment’ letter for talking to The Mail on Sunday, on the grounds that it led to Ms Fuller being ‘subjected to numerous phone calls and emails’.

It prompted Tory MP Zac Goldsmith to write to London Mayor Boris Johnson urging him to look at whether police officers were abusing their position by trying to stop a newspaper investigation of Ukip.

Scotland Yard said: ‘We would never comment on who we interview as part of an investigation.

‘The inquiries are ongoing.’

Mr Bridgen declined to comment.

One has to worry at such a lapse of good sense by someone who was so clearly up to speed on EU matters in the past and co-authored the definitive book on The EU ‘The Great Deception’ there was a moment when one wondered just how easily Christopher Booker had been deceived by the lies and showmanship of Nigel Farage and his lack of any vestige of a responsible workable EU eXit and survival strategy for Britain, despite 22 years of claiming to wish to Leave_The_EU.

Ever the entertainer and showy salesman I guess Nigel Farage’s style and the bully boy tactics of the pond life that are his claque leading the Ukip Cult forward as clearly some are beguilled by it, it would seem Booker included! Little wonder that the electorate, having voted 2 to one to keep First Past The Post (FPTP), the Farage cult appreciating that with approaching 4 Million votes they have reached their zenith and without a change in electoral methods they will never break through the glass ceiling their odious behaviour has created.

As for the Dan Hannan approach we must be minded that all too often we are cautioned of the enemy within, and it is of course our own elected servants who have so unfailingly betrayed us for their own greater glory and a broader stage on which they can strut their vanity and nurture their expenses – it is these very politicians who have landed us as a vassal region in the supra national EU Empirate with its over blown, over paid and unelected armies of bureaucrats.

All too often such as Dan Hannan in persuit of their incomes and their cosy relationships have acted as Judas Goats leading us like lambs to the slaughter!

It is clear that neither Nigel Farage nor Dan Hannan have much of a clue as to how the EU functions having both failed to have any kind of responsible workable or plausible EU eXit and survival strategy and seem not to even understand Article 50 let alone the fast track version in Article 48!

Thaty is of course to give Dan Hannan & Nigel Farage the benefit of the doubt that they do not understand the EU nor either Article 48 or 50, there is a more sinister consideration and that is that they do understand and are duplicitously acting as Judas Goats – let us hope it is stupidity rather than outright dishonesty.

Either way it is increasingly clear that if such individuals are associated with the EU Referendum or if it falls under the control of the crano rectally retentive and self serving egos of the Westminster Bubble and their crassly ill informed media luvvies we can count on the EUroSceptic cause being lost and our status as a vassal of this failing behemoth being locked in until it finalluy collapses into pennuary and the wars of disassociation as member states squabble and then fight to retain the assets they can grab.

That said it is a relief to see Christopher Booker would seem to have overcome his senior moment and is back on track – though I readily understand the concept of mistakes made in desperation, the ‘old man in a hurry’ syndrome!

Booker: united to keep us in the EU

In this week’s column, Booker picks up on CBI president Mike Rake, and this thoroughly disreputable bank, Barclays, the very firm of which Rake is deputy chairman. It is, is facing a record-breaking fine of £1.5 billion for its fiddling of exchange rates, yet Rake feels he is entitled to tell us how we should be governed.

Booker notes that the CBI and the BBC have been shamelessly in cahoots over their support for Britain’s membership of the EU ever since the days when they were propagandising together for Britain to join the euro.

Almost daily they told us how, unless we joined the single currency, we were doomed. Foreign firms would pull out of Britain en masse. And of course they are both playing exactly the same game today, as David Cameron launches his campaign to negotiate for Britain a “new relationship” with the EU.

The one thing the Europhiles are absolutely desperate to keep out of the debate is the possibility that, even if we did leave the EU, we could continue trading with the single market just as we do now by remaining within the European Economic Area (as was superbly illustrated by the way Jim Naughtie impatiently tried to stop Owen Paterson making precisely this point yesterday morning).

The only argument we ever hear is that, if we left the EU, our trade with Europe would collapse: much as we shall hear from Mr Cameron when he returns from his “negotiations” with no more than a few little fig-leaves, to persuade us all to vote “yes” for staying in.

One considerable danger, however, is that the dressing-up of these “fig-leaves” will be so intense that a gullible media will fall for it, and present the Cameron deal as if it was something substantial, just like the treaty that he supposedly vetoed.

But the chief reason why this shabbily deceitful argument is being allowed to dominate the debate, says Booker, is the Eurosceptics’ inability to unite in explaining that there is only one possible route whereby the EU can be made to give Britain that “new relationship” Mr Cameron talks of.

Certainly, the likes of Rake are making a big thing about us not having a “credible alternative future to EU membership”, only to have Ruth Lea pop up with her utterly mad idea that the post-exit UK could rely on WTO rules, by which – she says – many countries, “including China, very successfully conduct much of their trade”.

I wouldn’t mind so much if this arrogant woman took the time out to keep herself informed but, as we pointed out, China has a substantial number of agreements with the EU, which transcend WTO rules and are vital for the conduct of trade. Not least is the raft of Mutual Recognition Agreements on conformity assessment, without which the flow of goods would be seriously hampered.

Fortunately – for the moment – many of the “inners” seem as ignorant as to the realities of international trade as is Ruth Lea, but if any of them had to wit to call her out, Mike Rake’s claim about the absence of a “credible alternative future to EU membership” would certainly stand if all we had to rely on was this woman’s dogma.

For us, though, this is a real problem, where our supposed allies are all over the place, doing – as Autonomous Mind asserts, more harm than good. Nevertheless, Booker wants Cameron to do the one thing he says he cannot agree to: by using Article 50 of the treaty to say that we wish to join Norway and others outside the EU, but still in the Single Market.

Booker also asserts that his bluff is finally being called, although that is not always the case. What we are getting is the likes of Prof Mark Taylor, of Warwick University Business School – who was on the Today programme yesterday, just before Owen Paterson. He told us: “We would be worse off outside the EU because we wouldn’t have access to the Single Market”.

This, bluntly, is an outright lie, but then Taylor probably feels he has to protect his income stream. In 2013, Warwick University took €7,462,052 in EU funding (and a share in a further €54,330,432-worth of projects, amounting to €8,030,622). Thus, in that one year (the latest figures available), their coffers were swollen by over €15 million from the EU.

However, money-grubbing euroids are only part of the problem. With Ruth Lea and many others who regard themselves as the Eurosceptic “aristocracy”, strutting their stuff, we stand at risk of remaining firmly shackled to all the superstructure of this failing political project.

As we point out elsewhere, those who are serious about winning this referendum are having to fight on three fronts. We have to deal with the underhanded lies of the pro-EU camp and also the brain-capsizing ineptitude of the Ukip. But there is also the selfish, self-absorbed right-wing think tank “aristocracy” who are neither use nor ornament.

We can only win if the anti-EU movement ups its game and starts doing its homework. But there is also the danger of the campaign being hijacked by Westminster careerist campaigners who get paid either way. Against that, we will have our “credible alternative future to EU membership”, but it is pointless doing all that work if it is lost in the noise created by our own side.
