Nor it seems does it offer much that could be described as of merit whatever – sadly!

the hypothesis that UKIP is fundamentally little more than an old school Tory Party in the Thatcherite mold.
To which I have responded:
Hi,
you overlook the possibility that UKIP does not really exist and that it may be nothing more than a manifestation in virtual reality of the self enriching aims of its leadership and their parasites!
During the debate and passing of The EU Constitution even when it became called The Treaty of Lisbon UKIP took no active role in the debate or to campaign against it.
Then we had The EU Referendum Campaign at that time – UKIP made no active part.
Now we have UKIP taking absolutely no active part in The Petition for an EU Referendum which gave rise to the debate in The House of Commons beyond actively slagging it off and seeking to criticise it.
UKIP has in 20 years utterly failed to devise an Exit & Survival Strategy, has never held training, has displayed no vision and has been an abject failure at convincing the public of the wisdom of negotiated withdrawal from The EU in a manner that has convinced other than the converted that it would be safe to leave The EU.
In fact UKIP has shown no signs of leadership – no strategy and no moral or ethical position to capitalise on recent developements led by others – to try to steal this position and claim glory puts UKIP in a very poor light.
I note Marta Andreasen & Mikle Natrass realised in their case that signing in to get their expenses for attending Strassberg was hugely more important to them than being in Westminster to lend support to the 111 Parliamentary heroes who voted for Democracy and in the interests of the peoples of these United Kingdoms and in accord with the majority wish.
No UKIP is not remotely Thatcherite – nor old school Toty – they were in their day, in the main, acting both with integrity amd with vision – whether one agreed with that vision or not!
Further they are dissimilar in that I can think of no member of Thatcher’s leadership team who were there for personal enrichment though there are certain similarities to the morals of Cecil Parkinson and David Mellor!
Regards,
Greg_L-W.
