Are Purchased Honours for UKIP an Embarrassment?

Demeaning both UKIP, Farage AND the positions invested in!

I gather Freemanship of The City now requires the nomination of two individuals (easy to obtain when controlling selection lists!) and a payment of £30 + of course many rounds of ingratiating drinks!

See How to buy YOUR Freemanship – apply: CLICK HERE!

.
Hi,

at a time when honours are increasingly seen as something of an embarrassment one wonders at the extent to which UKIP leadership has lost the plot; such that it is a much discussed ambition of Farage to be appointed to The House of Lords, for clearly he is unlikely ever to earn a seat in The House of Commons by election, along side all the other appointees who have in many cases been rewarded for their betrayal of these United Kingdoms or their funding of corrupt politicians.

In terms of ELECTION – UKIP has never topped 30 elected representatives out of the 19,500 seats available! Even then out of the MEPs Nigel Farage has personally displayed the most crass of leadership skills in those he has over the years selected and supported and in addition to the likes of Bannermann, Agnew, Clark, Bloom, Nuttal, Andreasen, Wise who are without exception an embarrassment – Farage has personally backed each of them including the liars and thieves!

Of the remaining few Farage has fallen out with around 1/3rd.

Farage is clearly not just an utterly incompetent leader but bereft of any competence as a judge of character or people as he has proved time and again – this does not for a moment gainsay his competency as an entertainer, and as The Independent recently showed, he responds to outright flattery and is of absolutely ZERO gravitas – this of course makes him popular with a small percentage of the more immature members of the population.

Currently the entire honours system is called into question and the public has an abiding, allbeit largely unfair, loathing of City types as we have rascals from finance stripped of their appointments yet UKIP makes much of having invested in the somewhat meaningless title of ‘Freeman of The City of London’.

I appreciate that now that UKIP Constitution is being changed to permit Farage to officially appoint candidates of his choice, as the controller of The NEC and appointments thereto, where honest men who dare to represent the members are vilified and attacked to make way for the scum of the party like Mick McGough, Peter Reeve, Derek Clark, Hugh Williams and the like – for as long as they do Farage’s bidding!

So when this authority to rig elections becomes ratified, as opposed to the previous clandestine dishonesty CLICK HERE, We can reasonably expect at very least the following to be DUMPED:
Mike Nattrass
Trevor Colman
Wee Willie Dartmouth
Nikki Sinclaire
Andreasen the liar and self serving fraud
& no doubt others.

So I guess the London MEP list will feature
Steve Wolffe with Paul Oakley nominated as an also ran.

South West:
Niel Hamilton & Steve Crowther

South East:
Nigel Farage & Harry Aldridge

Bloom & Nuttall will hold their places on Farage’s lists as it currently stands, despite Nuttall’s self obsessed irrelevance and incoherence and Bloom’s drunken loutish behaviour and speaches in The so called Parliament when drunk and most recently both drunk and under the influence of drugs yet without the judgement or sense of responsibility to keep his own council when under the influence, for whatever reasons!

At least little Gerard Batten will be liberated to dash around more Police stations in abuse of his position of duty and responsibility trying to cover his tracks by informing them they should arrest people for telling the truth about him BECAUSE he thinks he is VERY important even if they haven’t heard of him and are not very impressed with another corrupt politician – For further facts about Batten CLICK HERE!

Perhaps some of these trade offs will explain why Farage has purchased a Freemanship of the City [How to apply CLICK HERE & send £30!!!] – it will of course extend his rights of braggadocio to further pubs but can hardly serve the interests of Leave-The-EU which seems spectacularly low on UKIP agenda as they jockey for positions on the gravy train in 2014!

All rather embarrassing but so clearly justifying The Independent’s lampooning of Nigel Garage in his Arthur Dailey outfit:

One is inclined to mischievously speculate whether despite her £30,000 a year UKIP hush money Kirsten has chucked Nigel out and he is now living in this garage, with his rumpled and clearly grubby old coat and the garage’s two TV aerials and stove chimney with little sign of wear as a garage as such!

Nigel granted Freedom of City of London

Tuesday, 7th February 2012
On the day that the House of Commons debated a wages policy, UKIP Leader Nigel Farage was granted the Freedom of the City of London.
Following a ceremony at the Chamberlain’s Court in the City’s Guildhall, Nigel said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been inducted as a Freeman of the City of London. My father, grandfather have spent their working lives in the Square Mile, as did I for the first 15 years of mine. Now my sons are doing the same.

“The oath that I was required to swear calls upon me to, ‘Maintain the Franchises and Customs (of the City), and will keep this City harmless’. I only wish that all members of Parliament would swear the same, or at very least anybody involved in setting Treasury, trade or European policy as it seems apparent that keeping the city ‘harmless’ is the least of their concerns.

“I would like to thank Murray Craig, the Chamberlain’s Clerk for his kindness, good humour and efficiency in running the ceremony”.

Nigel is pictured here with the Chamberlain’s Clerk, Murray Craig, acceptiing the extended right hand of friendship at the Chamberlain’s Court.

The Independent on Sunday rises from obscurity to Lampoon UKIP!
As ever they have no shortage of material with which to make Nigel Farage look the fool!

He does so clearly oblige with his behaviour, his insecurity and his surrounding himself with corrupt like minded fools!

Hi,

when a paper of the inconsequentiality as The Independent on Sunday with its ever risible 160-170,000 circulation lampoons your leader and refuses to treat him with ANY gravitas it does rather seem your party is failing on all fronts!

Well they do seem to have got it right in that it is hardly skill, professionalism, competence or political insight that serves UKIP but as The Independent states:

Nigel Farage: ‘Politicians govern through fear’

Farage’s position surrounded by fools HE has put in place to make himself look competent is something of a self inflicted wound!

Imagine anyone taking Mick McGough, Annabelle Fuller, Gerard Batten, Godfrey Bloom, Paul Nuttall, Stuart Agnew and the like seriously – It just hasn’t and clearly won’t happen!

Listening to UKIP staking their claim as a major political force, I suggest to Nigel Farage, can feel a bit like driving up the A6 with a 10-year-old tugging at your sleeve and mithering to drive the car. What if you gave in and put them behind the wheel? Where would such a gamble leave you? In a cell in Strangeways Prison? Carlisle? Or crawling from the wreckage, having entered some stranger’s driveway and crashed through the doors of their…

“By the way,” I ask the UKIP leader, “how do you pronounce that place where you park your car?”
“Gárage,” he replies. “Although you, as a Northerner, might call it a garridge.”
“If I was from Richmond or Wilmslow, it could be a garáarge.”
“Pronounce my name however you like,” the politician says. “I say Fárage.” (Rhymes with barrage.)
He bears this exchange, as he does most things, with surprisingly good humour, especially considering that, as I will later discover on YouTube, it’s not the first time the garage analogy has arisen (he once raised it himself, on Newsnight). Added to which, Nigel Farage is no stranger to vehicular misfortune, both terrestrial (he was almost killed as a young man when he walked in front of a car, drunk, in Orpington) and airborne (in 2010, while attempting a “fly-past” in a light aircraft, his UKIP banner became entangled in the tail-fin; the plane nose-dived from 35ft, breaking the politician’s sternum). Nautical catastrophe has so far eluded him, but he’s still only 47 and a keen sea-angler.
In a determined and life-long battle to maintain temperance and moderation, Farage has suffered the occasional reverse. He spent a night with a 25-year-old Latvian woman called Liga who met him in a pub in Biggin Hill, Kent, in 2006; she told the News of the World – falsely, says Farage – that they made love seven times and that she performed “sex acts with ice cubes” after which the MEP was left “snoring like a horse”. This error of judgement, allied to reports of his having patronised lap-dancing clubs in Mayfair and Strasbourg, have led to him being portrayed by some as an innocuous buffoon. It’s a perception that is not shared by most serious political commentators.
“I am not a mass murderer,” Farage says. “I am not a criminal. I am a human being. I am flawed as much as the next man. I try not to hide that stuff. I am not going to stop going to the pub. I mean, why should I? Why should I? Why should I?”
The UKIP leader has great energy – one aspect of his constitution that Liga may inadvertently have put her finger on – an unusual ability to think on his feet, and an enviable fearlessness in debate, as demonstrated in the ever-popular YouTube clip of his February 2010 rant against Herman Van Rompuy, the Belgian president of the European Commission. The footage, which has attracted more than a million hits, shows Farage declaring: “You have the charisma of a damp rag. Who are you?”
His name – though less exotic than that of his father, Guy Justus Oscar Farage – is of the kind that, in an historical novel, would signal raffish exuberance verging on swagger; an area in which the real Farage does not disappoint.
We meet at UKIP’s London headquarters; two modest rooms in the former Conservative headquarters near Westminster. The politician, usually caricatured in a blazer, arrives in a conventional suit and tie. Even in this outfit, there is something in his manner that might lead you, were you to meet him in a rural setting, to stare beyond him, over his shoulder, in search of his caddy. He is welcoming, convivial, and scorns the homogenised appearance perfected by Cameron and Clegg: a look that you might call SBW: Smart Boy Wanted. A nostalgic Thatcherite who nurtures political sympathies highly unappealing to some, he is still able to laugh easily and generously, even at himself, a trait I’ve not previously encountered in a politician.
Nigel Farage prides himself on his ability to “read” people, and I can tell from the start that he’s sensed our world views may not overlap in absolutely every area of life. But whatever your political prejudices, you have to concede that, where Europe is concerned, this is his moment. Even 15 months ago, appearing on BBC1’s Question Time, he was visibly unsettling fellow guests including Kenneth Clarke, who observed that, “If the Greeks had not been in the euro, I don’t know where they would be now; they would be [sic] very very belly-up.”
“Countries like Greece,” Farage told him, “are trapped. The euro is doomed. Thank God we didn’t join it.”
With the three major parties haemorrhaging activists, and the EU federalist dream in danger of imminent meltdown, the question for UKIP has to be: if not now, when? It’s easy to forget that, historically, opposition to the European Parliament, on the grounds of its lack of democracy and thrift, and its permanent struggle to sign off its own accounts, has been articulated by politicians from all parties, notably Tony Benn. Which makes it such a shame for UKIP that the party still struggles to shed the detested sobriquet: “The BNP in blazers.” “What you need,” I tell Farage, “is to draw from a broader political base. You look like a golf crowd. That alienates people. Even now, I’m seeing you in a blazer.”
“Well, I was a keen golfer. Part of ‘the golf-club set’,” adds Farage, whose idea of populist idiom sometimes sounds as if he’s consulted a slang dictionary from 1958. “So of course I had a bloody blazer. I have a blazer. I have several. What you’re saying is that there’s an impression that UKIP is not with it.”
“‘With it?’ That’s a phrase I haven’t heard since…”
“And that UKIP is a bit 1950s, in its image.”
“And very Home Counties.”
“That was how UKIP started, in the early 1990s. You could tell it was a UKIP meeting by the number of Bomber Command ties in the room. These were wonderful people – we shouldn’t mock them too much – but they fitted an image that couldn’t be further from the truth now.”
His deputy, Paul Nuttall, he points out, was “born and bred in Bootle docks”.
“Maybe, but you wouldn’t want to take your striped ties up to Liverpool 20. Actually, you could go on a charity walk there; we could sponsor you not by the mile, but by the minute.”
“I’m not suggesting that we’re trendy. And there may be a slightly provincial feel to UKIP.”
“There you go again. What relevance does the word ‘provincial’ have, two generations after The Beatles? It’s a term you hear from elderly actors.”
“Well, ‘provincial’ is used as an insult in this village of Westminster.”
“I’m not asking you to convert to trainers and full denim.”
“I wouldn’t.”
“Maybe not, but the image is still troubling me…”
Farage has the grace to laugh.
“I’m not going to change. Like Cameron walking around without a tie, as though that’s going to appeal to the kids. The UKIP image should reflect who is in it, as well as the leader.”
“The shires?”
“Well, the party’s strength is in the shires rather than the metropolitan set.”
“So how have you changed?”
“We are a damn sight more professional in terms of the people we have running things. When we started, the only way we could establish ourselves was by pointing out negatives. Now, most opinion polls show two to one that [UK voters are] against us being part of this European Union. Our job now is to outline how we think an independent Britain should be run.”
“It’s 60 years since our mutual hero [health minister in Clement Attlee’s 1945 Labour government] Aneurin Bevan wrote a book called In Place of Fear…” (Hollow laugh from Farage, whose political idol is Enoch Powell.) “Do you think that government seeks to convince us that, if we left Europe, the sky would fall in?”
“Of course. I remember John Major, in 1990, talking about the ERM. [The European Exchange Rate Mechanism, to give it its full title, was the EU’s doomed first step towards attempted monetary union.] He said, ‘It’s a cold, cold world outside the ERM. If we leave, terrible things will happen.'”
It was, coincidentally, the moment that radicalised Farage, until then a passive Conservative.
“I remember being in the City with my mates, saying: ‘What is he talking about?’ Then of course we did leave the ERM [in 1992]. It is all about fear. They govern through fear. Everywhere you go there are signs saying, ‘Don’t Do This.’ I want to tear them all down.”
“Right by your office here there’s a sign that says, ‘DO NOT LET YOUR DOG FOUL OUR LOVELY GARDEN.’ That ‘lovely’ alone is practically an incitement to defecate, isn’t it?”
“It is. And all the ‘No Smoking’ signs. I can’t bear it.”
(Farage maintains a defiant loyalty to Rothmans.)
“There is nothing to fear,” he adds, referring to UKIP’s main aim of withdrawal from the EU. “Switzerland and Norway have harmonious relationships with member countries. Surely we can do as well.”
“Presumably you’re not impressed by these unelected technocrats who now run some EU economies?”
“It’s the road to dictatorship. It will breed extreme nationalism. The economic model is bust. The more money they throw at it, the more terrible it is going to be.”
Nigel Farage was born in Herne, the Kent village that was also home to Charles Darwin, in April 1964. His father was a heavy-drinking City trader who Nigel appears to have adopted very early on as a role model. (Guy Farage, who stopped drinking at 36, left the City at Christmas.) The UKIP leader was privately educated, at Dulwich College, where he organised teams of younger boys to clean shoes, allowing him (to borrow the phrasal verb used by one former classmate) to “skim off” a profit.
“There were,” he says, “one or two rackets going on.”
His father had moved out when Nigel was five, leaving the future politician and his younger brother Andrew in the care of their mother. After A-levels, Farage went straight into the City, trading commodities such as tin and cocoa.
In 1993 he joined an organisation called the Anti-Federalist League, founded two years earlier by Alan Sked, now Professor of History at the London School of Economics.
“A group of us,” Nigel Farage recalls, “persuaded Sked that a better name would be UKIP.” Farage became a founder member of the new organisation in September 1993. “Alan was our leader for three years.” (“I hardly need to be persuaded,” Sked told me. “There was no opposition to the name change.”)
At the 1997 election UKIP found itself eclipsed by Sir James Goldsmith’s Referendum Party. Farage says that Sked was unwilling to make an accommodation with Goldsmith, as he himself was urging. (“Nothing was further from the truth,” asserts Sked, who says that his own messages to Goldsmith failed to get past one of the Anglo-French millionaire’s close allies.)
“Sked later accused you of having become ‘enmeshed’ with the BNP, didn’t he?”
UKIP has had its embarrassments regarding infiltration from the extreme right, notably in the form of one Mark Deavin, who joined in 1997, and was expelled after being revealed as a BNP activist.
“So you’re not a shadowy collective of neo-fascists?”
“That’s utter cobblers. That sort of remark does make me furious. I have always rejected any deal with the BNP. Our website states that former members of the BNP are not welcome as members of UKIP. We have a pretty good checking system.”
There are whole internet sites dedicated to UKIP infighting. The party, which has never won a seat in the Commons, currently has 11 MEPs. They are the most influential voice in the eurosceptic coalition Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) which includes the Italian Northern League, a party frequently criticised for crass xenophobia and racial intolerance. In 2003 the League’s current federal president, Umberto Bossi, advocated opening fire on boatloads of desperate African immigrants, people he described as “bingo-bongos”. (In 2010 UKIP MEP Nikki Sinclaire left the party following her refusal to collaborate with the EFD.)
While many feel that Farage might choose his allies more carefully, nobody I spoke to believed he was a closet Nazi.
As the Liberal Democrat minister Chris Huhne once put it: “UKIP are not fascists, they’re not corrupt and they’re not morons.” Even if, as he added, “Some of their leaders are head-bangers.”
Farage took charge of the party in 2006 and provided UKIP with its most distinctive, high-profile figurehead. His election followed a turbulent period which began in 2004, when broadcaster and former Labour MP Robert Kilroy-Silk got involved in the organisation, of which he declared himself de facto leader. UKIP had traditionally been described as “7,000 members with 8,000 egos”. Having spent some time with Kilroy-Silk during this troubled era, I’d suggest that his arrival must have added several zeroes to the second half of that equation. (Though Kilroy-Silk, for all his quirks, was far better placed than Farage to engineer an electoral consensus.)
Nigel Farage has published two volumes of autobiography: Fighting Bull (2010) and Flying Free, which appeared last year. (“This semi-literate book reads as if it were dictated during a drinking session,” Alan Sked observed of the first. “My copy came in ring-binder form. I keep it in the toilet.”) “It was your writing about your admiration for Enoch Powell that made me really queasy,” I tell him. “You do say he was your hero.”
“I have several heroes. I admired Powell enormously.”
The recent rise in net migration to Britain has become a concern for all parties, and has, predictably, been vociferously addressed by UKIP. “What worries me,” I tell Farage, “is the way the Government appears to focus on deterring immigrants from outside the EU. I think anyone who’s spent time in Harare, say, would feel that any Zimbabwean who wants to come to Britain should be given the chance. But they come, to put it bluntly, carrying the wrong passport, with the wrong skills and in the wrong colour.”
“They are discriminated against because we have an open door into Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.”
“That furious row in 1972, over whether Britain should admit the Ugandan Asians: how many people were they talking about?”
“Twenty-seven thousand. They have arguably been the single most successful migrant entry into this country. Then we talk about opening the border in 2004 and 850,000 [immigrants] come. We have never experienced anything like this. We have a proud record on refugees and UKIP wants Britain to honour the principles that it always has done. I hate this myth that Blair started in 2004, to defend the open border, suggesting that [Eastern Europeans] work hard, implying that people here are useless.”
“A theory heartily endorsed by your friends in the CBI, who welcomed a source of cheap disposable labour.”
“Their argument is that inflation is kept down by lower wages. But inflation isn’t our biggest worry at the moment. Youth unemployment is.”
How about Enoch Powell’s notoriously inflammatory ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech, delivered in Birmingham in 1968?
“A grave error. Powell, on immigration, got it badly wrong.”
“So why did you like him so much?”
“The way he picked up the Treaty of Rome in 1961 and argued that this meant losing our democracy. He was one of the first to see what this European project would mean.”
The broadly consensual tone of Farage’s remarks alters somewhat when I mention the Battle of Orgreave and other episodes from the 1984 miners’ strike.
“I think that the policies Margaret Thatcher brought in – while they did bring a huge amount of misery to people in the north of England – were necessary to turn Britain into a modern global economy. And,” he adds, “she was the least prejudicial, most pro-social-mobility prime minister we have probably ever had.”
In the pause that follows, I find myself wondering what Attlee, who implemented health and education reforms including the NHS, would have made of that last sentence. I’m surprised – looking at this purely from Farage’s own strategic view – that the leader of any party, single-issue or otherwise, would articulate views guaranteed to kiss goodbye to 50 per cent of the electorate.
“We had to get with it,” Farage says. “We couldn’t have the country run by Communist bully boys, many of whom were in the pay of Moscow.”
But the most resonant memories of the 1980s, for Nigel Farage, don’t involve police baton charges, lengthening dole queues, or humiliated miners risking arrest for gathering fuel.
In the 1980s, he recalls, “the City was a great place to be. It was unbelievable. The booze culture was mega. The drugs culture was huge. I left the drugs culture alone completely, thank goodness.”
“Why ‘thank goodness’?”
“If I had smoked cannabis, I probably would have done it to excess. There was enough trouble with the booze culture, and I am one of the lucky ones. Because I really enjoy going for a drink, but I don’t need it.”
“What precisely did you love about the City?” k
“It was competitive. It was quite brutal. It was tough but very exciting.”
“And then there was the money.”
“I went into it thinking the money was everything. But I grew to love the lifestyle.”
“Like that Harry Enfield character?”
“There were things we said and did then…” Farage, uncharacteristically, appears to jump on the brakes at this point. “Values change,” he says. “I wasn’t like that [Loadsamoney] caricature. But there were elements of crudeness in the City.”
“Such as?”
“Language and behaviour.”
“What kind of language?”
“It wasn’t just the ‘f’ word. People were routinely abused.
“Abused? In what terms?”
“In every term.”
“Racial?”
“Everything. That was the culture.”
“Because you have been accused, haven’t you, of using the ‘n’ word, as it’s customarily called.”
“That allegation was made by a political rival. He can’t substantiate it.”
The claim formed part of an article published by the Mail on Sunday in 2004, in which Alan Sked said that he’d heard Farage use the word “nigger”.
“I was quite shocked,” Sked said. “I had never really heard people talk like this before. Others just thought that it was Nigel being funny but to me it really wasn’t funny at all.”
“It is not true,” Farage says.
In the same article, under the headline, “Race Slurs, Strippers and £100 a Bottle Champagne… Sleazy Past of UKIP Boss”, another associate complained about having been taken by Farage to a Strasbourg strip club. After staying for “three or four hours” (presumably so as to be absolutely certain that the ambience was inappropriate), he said he became concerned by Farage’s behaviour.
“Looking through newspaper cuttings, I find a colleague talking about your visiting lap-dancing clubs after leaving a Strasbourg bar called Les Aviateurs; is that true?”
“Is what true?”
“‘His head wedged between a woman’s breasts; he must have stayed a while. We all had a glass of champagne; Farage stayed on… stuck in a warm embrace.’ That kind of thing.”
“Does that,” the UKIP leader asks, “sound like any club you’ve ever been to?”
“Well, there is this place called The Shack in South Carolina; it’s a 10-minute drive across the state line from Augusta, Georgia…”
“It is all,” Farage says, “a massive over-exaggeration.”
He will admit, however, to being unusually accident-prone. His first brush with death occurred that night in Orpington, returning from the City at a period when, according to his first book, “I was handling millions and drinking more or less continuously.” He was run over after stopping off at an Indian restaurant, where he had been arguing against the Anglo-Irish Agreement while drinking Jameson’s.
Farage landed on his head, sustaining severe injuries. Doctors feared he would lose a leg. Gráinne Hayes, his nurse, became his first wife. (The politician has four children: two sons with Clare, both now grown up and in the City; two daughters with his current wife, Kirsten Mehr, a German national who married him in 1999.)
Months after recovering from the traffic accident, Farage was diagnosed with cancer in his left testicle. Following the operation to remove it, he spent 48 hours believing that the disease had spread to his lungs. In 2004, I remind him, a woman reporter wrote a profile that began with the line: “I am quite relieved that Nigel Farage has only one testicle.”
“That,” he says, “was offensive beyond belief. Can you imagine a male journalist writing that about a woman who has had a breast removed?”
Farage has borne most of this with broad shoulders. But even he concedes that the Latvian episode, leading to that News of the World article in January 2006, represented something akin to folly.
“Do you think the paper went after you because of who you are?”
“No.”
Insisting that no impropriety took place, Farage says, “I was drunk as a sack. It rarely happens, but that day I was out of it.”
“If you ever feel the need to repeat the experience,” I suggest, “you might be wiser to visit The Shack in South Carolina, rather than The Black Horse in Biggin Hill.”
“I put myself in a position from which I had no defence. When you cross the threshold [of a stranger’s home] they can say what they like. It was a big lesson learnt.”
“Has it moderated your carousing?”
“That’s been a gradual process. My body has been smashed to bits twice.”
“In the light-aircraft crash in 2010 [Farage had briefly resigned as UKIP leader to stand against the speaker, John Berkow, MP for Buckingham] your banner became snagged in the tail-fin…” I have to stop at this point, because for some reason I find myself wondering, had my interviewee been French, quite how I would have gone about translating that last phrase. “I’m sorry,” I tell the politician. “I shouldn’t laugh. This really isn’t funny.”
“Feel free. Seriously. You have to laugh. I mean, really, what an idiot I was, getting involved in it at all.”
“And then, afterwards, wasn’t the pilot charged with saying that he wanted to kill you?”
“Yes. He was hurt, mentally. It’s all very sad.”
“I read one report that said: ‘Farage was lying in the wreckage, moaning: “I’m scared, I’m scared.”‘ If I’d broken my sternum, I’d be scared.”
“Crashing was one thing. You see the ground coming up; you can be relatively philosophical about that. But I was thinking, this thing’s going to catch fire. And the idea of burning was very scary indeed.”
“Nightmares?”
“Not too bad.”
We adjourn to the pub where he meets half-a-dozen associates. Over the years, in the course of work, I’ve attended more than one meeting of UKIP supporters. One gathering in particular resembled the fishing expedition from the film of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
This group of Farage’s colleagues and friends is different. They are amusing, relaxed, accommodating and good company, perhaps because, compared to mainstream politicians, they have far less to lose. (“When you’ve been turned over as often as I have,” a government minister once told me in similarly informal circumstances, “you tend to be careful.”)
They’re a remarkably mixed bunch: not the sea of white faces I’d expected, and much younger and sharper than any UKIP members I’ve come across before. At one point, one of Farage’s close friends tells me how he wishes Nigel would get a driver to take him home at night, instead of insisting on taking the late-night commuter train: services which are becoming increasingly threatening even to people whose face is not easily recognised.
For an hour or so I fall into conversation with a young man who grew up half a mile from where I did in south Manchester – hardly UKIP’s favourite kind of recruiting ground – and I imagine would make an excellent candidate should he be so inclined. Talking to him, I’m a little surprised that UKIP doesn’t seem to have worked harder to seek out candidates who might thrive outside of its natural heartland.
“People from the left do vote for us in European elections,” Farage says, “and they do so in numbers far larger than most commentators understand. But they don’t tend to join us. The activist base tends to be, er…”
He pauses.
“There are a lot of ex-Tories. I obviously want to change that.”
How urgently Nigel Farage wishes to enforce this revolution, I’m not sure. I suspect he is unshakeably confident that, where the EU is concerned, the wind is building, and blowing in a favourable direction for UKIP. When the euro collapses, he tells me, is a question of “not if, but when”. Should Britain enter a double-dip recession aggravated by a Greek default, eventually threatening the European Central Bank, the current stiff breeze could turn into a hurricane. And if that happens, who knows what curious beasts might suddenly spread their wings, and fly.

It is just a treadmill for enrichment of a small claque it seems!
Well what EXACTLY has UKIP achieved in 18 years that has moved us one inch closer to Leave-The-EU?

.
Hi,

as we run up to the UKIP conference it is sad to read the article about UKIP in NewEUrope OnLine dateline 05-September:

UKIP: Smears and signatures

Nikki Sinclaire MEP, who left the Europe of Freedom and Democracy over allegations of extremism and homophobia, has started a petition in the UK, asking for a referendum on EU membership.
She believes that the UK is, in practice, neither in or out of the union and is dithering on the sidelines.  Although she is a strong supporter of leaving the EU, she wants to have a genuine referendum, with both sides of the argument being able to make their case in a fair contest.
So far, she has collected over 10,000 signatures, 10% of her 100,000 target. This has put the UK Independence Party in a bit of a spot. They are hurrying out their own petition, so the Brits will at least get a choice of which petition to sign. To outsiders, it looks like the typical chaos surrounding the party. Sinclaire is visiting all the party conferences, starting with UKIP, who are meeting in Torquay, the home town of Basil Fawlty, where she will be holding a fringe event. Meanwhile, UKIP are holding elections for their National Executive, which has run into problems.
Godfrey Bloom MEP sent out a letter and sample ballot form to members, where he had considerately filled in the ‘right’ candidates for them.  The night before Sinclaire’s fringe meeting about her petition, Tory blogger Iain Dale reported that,  the newly formed NEC, “were told that former UKIP MEP Nikki Sinclaire MEP is currently under investigation by OLAF, the EU Anti-Fraud Unit, and the West Midlands Economic Crime Unit on allegations of misuse of European Parliamentary allowances.”
He added that the meeting had been presented with documentary evidence.
Impeccable timing!

A well placed source has told New Europe that OLAF is not investigating Sinclaire and West Midland Police have insisted to us that they have not initiated an investigation into the MEP.

as I said – so little changes and UKIP has spent a whole year with not an achievement to its name just more squabbling, a few more largely irrelevant councillors have defected in various directions, some old Tory hacks have tried to be noticed tottering around on Zimmer Frames and UKIP has tried to cover up its losses to the Tories.

In the year since the article was published Nikki Sinclaire has generated a great deal of good publicity whilst Farage’s ‘protege‘ Annabelle Fuller had considerable coverage for her drink fueled antics and stealing an MPs Blackberry and his House of Commons Pass.

The NEC has had its usual quota of knock down drag ’em out fights with the clearly out of control leadership and the liar Mick McGough has been given credibility by UKIP to show himself as a dishonest liar beyond his normal train trips and on You Tube where he gave a master class in how not to do politics he has added forums, the NEC and YouTube to his repetoire of dragging UKIP’s name into the gutter he inhabits but as ever he is not alone!

Then almost as predictably as day follows night an insider presents a dossiere of material, published over the years on my blogs and Junius producing it like a rabbit out of a hat with covering theories of their own to explain why they have finally, like some 100,000 before them, have lost confidence with UKIP and its endless navel gazing and failure to achieve anything of note as a party, much beyond the enrichment of its leadership claque!

Whilst on the subject of 100,000 Sinclaire has easily surpassed her target for the year presenting her figures to the media which they saw as so consequential together with the hugely valuable poll she commissioned and paid for that the story even broke the fog of war (well riots actually).

100,000+ is no mean achievement when you consider UKIP’s last petition raised 13,000 and lost the tax payer £1/4M – lost being the operative word!!

You will note her petition way outstrips the John Gaunt version which seemingly has ground to a halt with what is now a very out of date web site and also the Tory Party approved Plastic EUrosceptic poll which I gather is still trying to break 50,000 despite the support of Milliband, Bob Crow and others!

As for Mrs. Dale’s Diary revelations it would seem clear that he was set up with false information and used by malicious and malevolent factions in UKIP though I do understand that Derek Clark was found guilty of fraud but OLAF have not published their findings nor the details of the substantial amount he had to pay back as I gather the file has been passed to the British police but it is likely he will not be sent to prison if tried in view of his decrepitude.

I gather the OLAF enquiry into the fraud confessed to by Stuart Agnew has yet to be resolved as is the David Bannerman enquiry – though I gather Mike Nattrass seems to have dropped his legal complaints against The Sunday Times as their every word was true and interestingly although found guilty and having repaid monies fradulently obtained by Graham Booth his retirement to his UKIP earned pension seems not to have been matched with any generosity of spirit beyond the £Millions he has accrued and boasts of an Aston Martin!

Still a year on Farage is trying to dupe the party deeper into The EU as ever permitting the EU to dictate the agenda in return for them paying for the conference – frankly who in UKIP cares what Finland’s or any continental Country’s opinion of The EU is.

UKIP’s remit is to Leave-The-EU not to enrich a small claque and pose around doing The EU’s bidding in return for its bribes – which is why the membership voted 2 to 1 against helping The EU gain credibility in return for bribes with PEPP membership.

Clearly the membership of UKIP have made it VERY clear they are disgusted with the Pan EU Party EFD Group and its vile extremists lessons and clearly they just don’t care howmuch Farage will personally lose if UKIP does not join a PEPP. That said it is still on the cards Farage may be self serving and unscrupulous enough to try a re-run of the 2000 conference with an emulation of Michael Holmes’ back me or sack me – at least this time we will be spared the dullard comic antics of Booths’ skit on the stupidity of Devonians – though one can hardly put a similar version as a temper tantrum from First Legge!!

Having stalled since January to try to avoid what would inevitably be another High Court defeat at the hands of Sinclaire will we see much pretence of sweetness and light till the day after the conference ends.

Remember the year Tom Wise was exposed as a criminal by The Sunday Telegraph, the duplicitous behaviour of UKIP leadership making promises to Petrina Holdsworth they were proven they had no intention of keeping leading to her resignation after the dishonest attempts to keep her on board for the conference.

It really is astonishing just how little would need to be changed in the 2010 article above to suit todays scenario in UKIP!!

~Even a Nigel Lawson Love In by UKIP’s Nigel Farage Fails to hit the spot!!

.
Hi,

Richard Watt has posted an interesting if somewhat contrived blog.

I say contrived because surely UKIP can not be so grossly out of touch with British politics as to have only just realised this!

One appreciates UKIP has very little presence in Britain with its leadership dedicated to The EU dream and crano rectally retentively riding the gravy train for all it is worth – surely they must have been tipped off by someone more astute or at very least more awake to the fact that Nigel Lawson has had at very least grave misguivings about The EU since he left office in 1989 22 years ago.

Nigel Lawson, like Norman Tebbit and even Margaret Thatcher would seem to admit they had Damascene convertions AFTER they had any income or influence in Government.

Now at almost 80 Lawson is able to put his impramature on his belated prognostications on The EU but sadly at 80 that is a little late as with the octogenarian Norman Tebbi – sadly Margaret Thatcher would seem to have had her outspoken moments long after their delivery was consequential as when she offered her advoce and support to Nikki Sinclaire in opposition to The EU.

It is a change to see UKIP leadership involved in a story of some consequence in the run up to their EFD Conference at the end of the week. Though with the Michael Heaver story they have achieved something of an own goal showing how unprofessional and fractured the party is CLICK HERE

Though even that is better than endless article about their leaders testicals and the drunken antics and theft by his staff.

There has been little for UKIP to present having spent almost an entire year navel gazing and squabbling, or should that not be ANOTHER year!

Considering the many £Millions trousered by its leadership and the miniscule donation level they have displayed save in their personal re-election campaigns – it would be interesting to see a dossier of facts materialise around the liar, and general low life, Derek Clark as with the compilation of documents presented by Derek Hunniken recently CLICK HERE to which I have added some verifiable ammendments of fact.

Anyone wishing to compile such a dosier of facts about events or details regarding UKIP and its antics can of course with pleasure lift any articles from this and my other blogs, best accessed via the links on the Right Sidebar – you will note there was little new in The Hunniken dossier but for all that I am grateful that he could find the time to pull the documents together.

At least since my blog has been in the public domain for scrutiny as published and has been legally verified you can be assured of its accuracy as never once has anyone found a witting or willful error or misrepresentation you will be pleased to know and obviously any item is as published and in the public domain for reproduction with the usual courtesies of sourcing you are welcome to use it.

I believe the same can be said of the blog produced by the Junius team at CLICK HERE or that of the UKIP NEC elected Dr. Eric Edmond which can be found if you CLICK HERE

Anyway contrived as the publicity may be you will I’m sure enjoy Richard Watt’s blog below:

Lord Lawson invited to join UKIP after he challenges David Cameron on EU

Former chancellor at odds with prime minister as he calls for Britain to throw out further European integration altogether

Ex-chancellor Nigel Lawson

Lord Lawson of Blaby, the former chancellor, was invited to join UKIP today after he called for an ender to greater EU integration. Photograph: Martin Argles

With impeccable timing, the UKIP leader Nigel Farage today wrote to the former chancellor Lord Lawson to invite him to join his party.
Farage fired off a letter after Lawson called on David Cameron to use any future EU treaty negotiations, in the wake of the crisis in the Eurozone, to call for an end to greater European integration.
In an article in the Times, Lawson wrote:

To be precise, the notion that “more Europe” must always be promoted, that there is no acceptable end to the process of integration short of a full-blown United States of Europe, and that the watchword must always be that of “ever closer union” has to be explicitly abandoned.
And this requires not merely a declaration to that effect, but its embodiment in a full-blown constitution that sets out the entrenched and unalterable competences and responsibilities of the member states of the Union – the very reverse of what is contained in the anti-constitutional Lisbon treaty.

This is what Farage says:

Nigel Lawson has come to the conclusion that the very approach of the EU is against Britain’s interests, and is calling for the concept of ‘Ever Closer Union’ to be struck from the Treaty.
He calls for a new Constitution that makes explicit the limits of EU power. He is also wise enough to know that his proposals have not a cat in hells chance of being accepted by the other 26 countries of the European Union.
What Lord Lawson leaves unspoken is what happens when inevitably the EU rejects his idea. If the changes he calls for are not made, then Britain must reserve the right to leave the moribund European Union and strike out as a free-trading good neighbour of the European Union.

As a loyal Tory, Lawson will probably be horrified at the prospect of joining UKIP. But Farage is clever to invite Lawson to join his party because David Cameron and George Osborne will not accept the ideas outlined by the former chancellor in today’s Times.
Lawson will struggle because the prime minister and chancellor have abandoned one of the central tenets of Tory thinking over Europe over the last 20 years. This view held that Britain must fight hard to avoid the creation of what is called a “two speed Europe” – an inner group, led by Germany and France, and a more detached group led by Britain. This approach explains why John Major always left open the possibility of British membership of the euro after negotiating a British opt-out from the single currency in the 1991 Maastricht treaty.
Cameron and Osborne are making clear they would have no qualms if the 17 members of the Eurozone decide to introduce greater fiscal co-operation to underpin the single currency. This is what the chancellor wrote in the FT last month:

The eurozone…needs to demonstrate commitment to greater fiscal integration and governance arrangements that avoid moral hazard and entrench fiscal responsibility.

Some pro-Europeans regard the Cameron and Osborne’s decision to embrace a “two speed Europe” as a reckless gamble that will severely diminish British influence in the EU.
Cameron and Osborne have a ready response. They say:
• Britain, which would not be part of the new eurozone arrangements, has a vital national interest in ensuring the survival of the euro, the currency of Britain’s largest trading partners. Poor implementation of the growth and stability pact, which was meant to prevent the sort of borrowing that has inflicted such harm on Greece and Ireland, is to blame for the current crisis. Stricter rules should, goes the thinking, help prevent a repeat of the mess.
• New rules for the eurozone would present a golden opportunity for Britain. The necessary treaty changes would have to be approved by all 27 members of the EU. The prime minister told the Tory 1922 committee before the summer recess that he would use the treaty negotiations to repatriate powers in three key areas – legal rights, criminal justice and social and employment legislation. But there would be a coalition bust-up on this. Nick Clegg rejected the Cameron proposal when he said that the euro crisis was no time to demand a “pound of flesh”.
In his assault on the euro, Lawson failed to mention his support for the warm up for the single currency – the European exchange rate mechanism. The former chancellor resigned from the cabinet in 1989 after Margaret Thatcher refused to distance herself from her late economic adviser, Sir Alan Walters, after he described the ERM as “half baked”. As I blogged last month, Lawson explained to William Keegan in 2007 why he supported the ERM but not the single currency.

I must say it is sad that still these elderly political war horses are but Plastic EUroSceptics in that they almost to a man talk of reform thus redefining the true logic of EUroScepticism which in the hands of the honest make it very clear that reform is not on offer – now, in the past or ever in the future.

Can it be that they have read the treaties and honestly not understood them?

Surely after so many years climbing greasy poles they can not have become so stained with grease that they loose sight of the very thing that in the first place gave them office and then kept them thus employed.

Yes indeed a structure designed to maintain the status quo.

The only option available if we are to survive as a Nation and a people even some might say a genus is to with care withdraw from membership and with compassion assist those he realise the folly of their involvement to withdraw also.

ANY other action even the inevitable collapse of this arcane and failed experiment could all too easily end in 200,000,000 deaths across EUrope in the wars of disassociation and from the resultant famine caused by the folly of The EU which has so damaged food production with the CAP & CFP together with over regulation that for the first time in modern history EUrope can not feed itself at just the very time the damage done by EU financial policies and red tape have come together to starve us of our markets to earn the money by export to buy the very food we need – hence the invention of Carbon Credits as the new ‘Fetish’ to ward off the man made scam of Anthropogenic Global Warming.

Much as I respect the Lawsons, Tebbitts, Thatchers and some of their colleagues and predecessors it would be refreshing to hear one tell the truth and not emmulate the ‘party line’ of the politicos as Plastic EUrosceptics aiding and abetting our betrayal as Judas Goats.

UKIP Vote NO to PEPPs 2 to 1

UKIP Vote NO to PEPPs 2 to 1

Hi,

Although this blog & others I am associated with published the results provisionally at 14:30hrs. yesterday you will note that today even a further 24 hours later UKIP has not published its results on its web site to inform its members.

The actual result was a win for the NO vote, as we earlier stated:
Yes 2,535 (32.9%)
No 5,161 (67.1%)

Turn Out 49.2%

I am rather pleased at the accuracy of my public prediction last week that I expected around 7.1/2 thousand voters which would represent between 2/3rds. and 3/4 of the extant membership. This, as predicted turned out to be true with 7,696 votes cast.
We were however wrong in our predictions not realising just how large an effect the internet has had on the event, but it is now clear that as a result of the various blogs informing people of the lies of Mick McGough in support of the yes campaign:

From Steve Allison

From steve allison
to Stuart Agnew MEP
cc Mick McGough
cc Trevor Colman MEP
cc Steve Crowther
Date 19.06.2011

Stuart,

I have received a complaint regarding the video.

Specifically the complaint refers to the claim by Mick McGough that he “has in his hand a cheque for £300,000 payable to UKIP”

The No campaign claim the money CANNOT be paid to UKIP.

Can you please confirm that the claim that the money can be paid from a PEP direct to UKIP is accurate.

If you cannot confirm this is a factually accurate statement then I must ask for the video to be withdrawn until a suitable correction of fact can be made.

Steve Allison
Vice Chairman UKIP.

Also the reprehensible comments of Stuart Agnew informing his audience that effectively he didn’t care what the outcome of the vote would be he was going to join a PEPP regardless as he could make more money and that Godfrey Bloom had already joined one in the certain knowledge that the membership, at the party conference, had resoundingly rejected the scam.

I was wrong on my prediction that it would be a close run thing with maybe as little as 2% either way in the result – I really didn’t realise just how much influence the truth would have on the members, you only need to read the in house Farage Fanzine The Independence Magazine to realise that was not where they were accessing the truth.

Clearly the activists and the ‘armchair vote’ alike have been keeping themselves aware of the dishonesty of the leadership via the blogs.

I guess we should not be as surprised as Mick McGough is not the only one who has made it very clear that he is a regular reader of both Junius and UKIP-vs-EUkip blogs on which he frequently comments and quotes, he even posts himself occasionally.

I guess all that leaves me to say to our regular readers and followers – Thank You for this little personal triumph in the efforts to Clean-Up UKIP to make it a party that ethical informed individuals may one day be willing to vote for to Leave-The-EU.

Let us hope that Farage and his parasites clinging on like maggots on a corpse realise their scam is dead in the water and rapidly withdraw from membership of the extremist, racist, anti Jewish and vile Pan EU Political Party EFD Group.

As soon as Farage is willing to forgo the extra income he makes and UKIP MEPs can be permitted to act in the interest of the electorate and Britain with control of their own 400 budget (formerly 4000 budget), their own travel allowances and staffing budgets and represent Britain in their own right on committees and ‘missions’ rather than have the allocation of travel and committees used as bribes to buy in members to the group to boost the group leaders income and personal control.

Enough of personality politics it has proved divisive and an abject failure for UKIP – where the leadership seemingly have utterly lost sight of the aim, which was to actively campaign to inform on the details of the damage done to Britain by membership of The EU, divise an exit and survival strategy and actively campaign to fulfil that strategy – NOT as a scam for self enrichment and Isle of Mann bank accounts and posturing on the gravy train with their snouts in the trough.

UKIP MEMBERS REJECT PEPP MEMBERSHIP 19:30hrs. 16-Aug-2011

Hi,

It would seem that UKIP members have voted resoundingly against Farage’s recommendation – his political ineptitude in trying to force the support of The EU on members for his personal gain has backfired.

Having chosen two dishonest men to front his pro PEPP campaign with the fraudster Stuart Agnew EFD & NFU MEP and the liar and cheat Mick McGough. Farage made a terrible mistake as it became apparent to the membershiop that they were being deliberately lied to by their leadership – so much so that they were forced to withdraw some of their excesses and remake their video to remove some of the lies!

That this debate was forced on the party when Farage had resoundingly lost the support of members at last years conference and an overwhelming vote against membership of PEPPs was passed leading to Farage’s accusation that Trevor Colman having won had just cost him (Farage) £1 Million a year!

To try to save face Farage has not only cost UKIP over £10,000 in organising the debate & vote but has deeply split the party leaving those who lied to support him with no honourable course of action other than to resign and leaving Farage in a ludicrous position!

Farage has fractured his party, divided his leadership and surrendered his mandate as leader – this on top of a £10,000 bill and a catastrophic local elections in May all based upon his crass personal lack of leadership skills.

To add to this he is now in the embarrassing position that he has forced out of UKIP leadership Mike Nattrass, Trevor Colman & Nikki Sinclaire as they were unwilling to cohabit with Farage’s chosen extremist, racist, anti Jewish and violent EFD Pan EU Political Party Group!

How can Farage be taken seriously ever again having made such a mess of his job and so betrayed his members? No informed individual could still believe he was much more than a puppet for The EU filling the role that it seems he was invented for – an opposition giving spurious credibility to the pretence The EU is in any way democratic.

Today even The EU are losers as it seems clear that UKIP members have seen through their scam and Farage is left discreditted. Will The EU dump their blue eyed boy and invent another puppet to posture and pose as an opposition whilst sabotaging the credibility of The EUroSceptic wing of The Tory Party?

Clearly UKIP members have voted against membership of The EFD and wisely so but will their leadership in arrogant greed merely dismiss the members as the buffoon Michael Greaves did, stating his master’s view that UKIP Members are too stupid to understand the issues!

Farage has put himself into a corner, where his party has voted resoundingly against his leadership, and he has no honourable choice but to withdraw from leadership of The EFD, immediately suspending UKIP membership of The Pan EU Political Party EFD Group – Pending notification to The EU that UKIP has terminated its membership – UKIP MEPs have no honourable choice but to sit as Unattached Members of The EU Parliament – a status where you may recal Nikki Sinclaire showed the lead as clearly more in touch with the members than Farage and his claque of parasites.

I note that over 5 hours after the vote result was in the public domain on my blogs, on Twitter and on Junius there is no sign of letting the membership at large know with no announcement, comment or apology on the UKIP Web Site, The No Campaign Web Page or The Yes Campaign Web Page respectively.

Is it that the leadership are licking their wounds and trying to dream up a story to cover for this catastrophe they have engineered for themselves?

UKIP: Send in the Clowns 27-29-Jun-2011!

Just How Can This Jolly Be Justified As Getting Britain OUT of The EU?

UKIP: Send in the Clowns 27-29-Jun-2011

One is forced to wonder what on earth this Jolly does to further UKIP members’ aim to Leave-The-EU

What information has Stuart Agnew or Gerard Batten provided to UKIP that has furthered the withdrawalist aim and how can their being on a Jolly with outspoken racists, xenophobes, holocaust deniers, anti homosexuals do to help UKIP’s image?

I believe it was just yet another ill thought out example of UKIP MEPs feeding at the trough for their personal gain. There seems no evidence to lead one to believe otherwise!

http://www.efdgroup.eu/news/277-study-days-copenhagen.html

UKIP MEPs don’t do junkets – well, not unless its Nigel Farage going to a Romanian street market to point out how poor the foreigners are, or Derek Clarke slipping off to Bucharest to sign up to the ‘Bucharest Declaration’ on behalf of the Independence & Democracy group. Clarke was tucked up like a kipper there, no way would Farage put his fingerprints on that act of betrayal. Poor Clarke probably still doesn’t understand what he did – or indeed where he was for those few days.

But it seems the ban has completely slipped. Morten Messerschmidt, convicted of racial offences and subsequently forced to resign his job after being seen “Heiling Hitler” in a Copenhagen bar, has hosted a study trip to Denmark. Also present was Francesco Speroni, the Italian MEP who recently suggested that the Norwegian Gunman Breivik had ideas that “defended European culture“. Speroni, of course belongs to Lega Nord, as does twice convicted violent racist Marion Borghezio. This is the party that advocates racial segregation on buses and calls for the ‘ethnic cleansing’ of homosexuals.

A look at the official photo reveals the presence at the event of UKIP’s Gerard Batten, and Stuart Agnew.

Interesting to note that the group was addressed by former MEP Mogens Camre of the Danish People’s Party, who claimed controversially that Romanians and Bulgarians are not as clever as “us”. Who are “us”, we wonder? Camre is known for his anti-Islamic stance. Also on the speaker’s list was Søren Espersen, a vocal Zionist and another DPP member. Seemingly absent was Sören Krarup, a DPP parliamentarian who wants to annex part of southern Sweden.

And the taxpayer has to fund these clowns!
