I have noticed very little comment on UKIP relative to the local elections on May 5th. spurred by the comment in the Gulf Times:

The UK Independence Party (Ukip) is picking up wide support from voters who are hostile to immigration but regard it as a “polite alternative” to the far-Right British National Party, new research concludes.
Ukip is at pains to stress it is not a racist party, but fresh academic research suggests it will benefit from Islamophobic and xenophobic sentiments within the electorate.
It argues that Ukip appeals to similar groups of voters as the BNP, but manages to capture their support because many people are deterred from backing Nick Griffin’s party because of its “stigmatised” image.
Almost half of Ukip’s core support is female, unlike the male-dominated BNP, suggesting it is attracting women sensitive to “party reputations for racism and intolerance”.
At last year’s general election, Ukip stood on a platform of slashing migration levels and deporting illegal immigrants.
One of the study’s authors, Matthew Goodwin of Nottingham University, said: “It is not an out-and-out far-right party. It’s more subtle than that. But underneath the gentlemanly Euroscepticism, there is no doubt they are picking up voters who are concerned about immigration.”
Goodwin added: “On immigration and racism, Ukip voters fall between the BNP and the Conservatives. We find that xenophobia and political dissatisfaction are significantly correlated with Ukip support.
“Hostility to immigrants and disaffection with mainstream parties are associated with significantly higher Ukip support. This is evidence that Ukip is mobilising voters anxious over immigration and rising diversity, and that some voters consider Ukip a ‘polite alternative’ to the BNP.”
Senior Tories are worried that Ukip, which is fielding a record 1,250 candidates in next month’s local elections, could exploit disenchantment among traditional Tory supporters over the coalition with the Liberal Democrats.
David Cameron’s speech last week, in which he warned high immigration levels had harmed some communities, was seen by Tory MPs as an attempt to head off a “Ukip effect” in the polls on May 5. Recent polls have suggested the party is picking up support of up to 5%.
I may be wrong but this would seem even with the many paper candidates to indicate that UKIP are unable to field sufficient candidates to qualify for a Paid National TV Broadcasting campaign!
To date in 18 years UKIP has failed to get to 30 elected members of the British structure (including MEPs) – out of the 19,500 or so available – in my opinion largely due to lack of clear leradership although Nigel Farage has done the best he can he is after all UKIP’s only permitted performer and he has, seemingly in vanity or else in lack of confidence, ensured no one else may rise to perform and thus many of those who could have asisted UKIP have left him to divide and destroy UKIP.
It would be a fool who claimed Farage was other than a good speaker but none but a fool would for a moment consider him a competent leader. Nor sadly would one describe anyone in UKIP’s leadership team of any caliber or gravitas with a clear leadership ability. This is the tragedy that is destroying UKIP and as one leading candidate featured in The Yorkshire Post said ‘It doesn’t matter how much money you waste there is no substitute for activists’ – I would add to that ‘TRAINED & MOTIVATED’ activists.
Sadly with the abusive, untrustworthy, ill informed and divisive leadership team there seems no way forward, however well Farage may perform as the front man, as clearly he has NEVER shown any sign of gravitas or leadership ability, whether dressing up as chickens, failure to control his staff, inability to act with probity, integrity, transparency or in terms of motivating activists. Farage could have done much for UKIP and thus for Britain as a performer, but one need only look at the caliber of the leadership team and its parasites that he has gathered around him and those who have quit in disgust CLICK HERE to realise the problems of UKIP are not those of its performer, who with firm guidance and clear leadership could have achieved much but one of leadership, discipline and structure.
After a quick look I discovered even UKIP has no clear indication of who is standing and I lack the time to go through each list to build it up – as clearly does UKIP’s own professed Local Government Guru!!

Well in the spirit of “Do It Yourself” I’ve picked out in red the elections in the north east and looked up how many seats will be up. The “Threshold” for a TV Broadcast is to have candidates in 1/6 available seats. Parish Councils DO NOT COUNT towards the seat calculation for the TV. If others would care to do the same for their regions then the list will soon fill up.

I hope this information is of some help in understanding the problem as without clear leadership, a sound structure and clear aims, values, strategy and tactics with regular training and motivation that will not only recruit activists rather than parasites UKIP may well act as an enrichment mechanism for a few and may well continue to fool enough of the public to stay in the game but clearly it lacks the leadership to even ensure a sufficient number of candidates even with the many ‘paper candidates’ to get a free broadcast it seems.
As the brighter readers will have noted over many years I have continually applauded Nigel Farage as a performer and clearly he is still virtually UKIP’s only asset but that he lacks leadership skills and is divisively out of control and unable to control even his own parasites and sycophants is clear for all to see.
So sad when it is so obvious UKIP is our ONLY lifeboat at this stage but without competent leadership, training, activists, vision, strategy, tactics and structure it will continue to spin around in circles fed on by the maggots attracted by the money gathering more as it loses its good people.
One must ask oneself if UKIP in clearly being unfit for purpose is not a dangerous obstacle in the shipping lanes and doing more to sink the ship of state than help it!
