Oldham East presents voters with dilemma: who gets the biggest slap?

The battle of the backlashes has resumed in the fogbound Pennines after the briefest of truces over Christmas.Rival canvassing and leaflet teams are out again on the hillsides of Oldham East and Saddleworth trying to cultivate anger about either the disgraced former Labour MP Phil Woolas or about the coalition’s troubled record.
Both strike a resentful chord in an area already grumpy about living on the edge of decision making, whether that means a remoteness from London or the age-old fissure between Yorkshire and Lancashire which meet here.But sorting out which – Woolas or Cameron-Clegg – most deserves the slap the constituency can give at the byelection on 13 January is proving taxing.”If Woolas did what they say, telling lies in his leaflets, then I condemn him,” said Naeem Butt, a 30-year-old machine operator whose political interest sharpened abruptly after he lost his job in nearby Ashton-under-Lyne three weeks ago. “But there are a lot of coalition policies which I don’t agree with at all. Worst of all is the VAT rise to 20%. Now that I’ve not got a decent income, and not a lot of hope of finding a new job straight away, that’s going to affect me plenty.”
Near Butt’s home in Lees, a lifelong Liberal, Joan Radcliffe, was also undecided. Looking back to Woolas’s knife-edge majority of 103 (0.2%) in May, which an election court overturned in November because of the leaflet lies, she originally considered the Lib Dems a shoo-in. But now, with challenging policies compounded by the revelations concerning the unease of Lib Dem ministers, she is less sure of backing Elwyn Watkins, who was defeated by Woolas in May and is now standing again. “I haven’t got words bad enough to tell you what I think about Woolas,” she said. “But I think these huge fees for students are completely wrong.”Celeste Collinge, her companion on a post-Christmas shopping trip in Springhead, agreed: “I’ve a 16-year-old daughter who’s been on course for university, but we’ve got our doubts now – not just myself and my husband, but our daughter too. We’ve a big gap before our next one [a primary schoolboy] so we may be able to manage to help her, then save enough for him.
But it wouldn’t be easy. I’ve heard what they say about helping lower-income students and that sort of concession, so we’ll be thinking about it. There’s going to be a lot of thinking of that sort round here over the next two weeks.”Two leaflet distributors were busy in Uppermill, where the election court sat for four days at the civic centre. Tom Hurst and Jane Collins, the local and Yorkshire regional organisers for Ukip, were optimistic about picking up “traditional Conservatives who see David Cameron as a Liberal”. They hoped to benefit from rumours – plentiful locally but strongly denied by Tories – that the Conservative party is reluctant to fight too fiercely against its coalition partner. Saddleworth has a long history of tactical voting; it helped the Liberals win Colne Valley and then Saddleworth and Littleborough when constituency borders included its network of villages in those seats.Meanwhile others, who were inclined to wish a plague on all three houses, red, blue and yellow, were looking to the British National party, even though its leader, Nick Griffin, ducked the contest after hinting that he would stand.The BNP’s reputation deterred 91-year-old Catherine Reed, out walking her son’s dog in the thaw, but she said Griffin was the only politician to have highlighted her main concern. “He got it in just before the end, on Question Time. He’s against all this sex education they give children when they’re so young. It robs them of innocence and their childhood. That’s what I think. That’s what I want our MP to take up.”
To Ken Bennett, a former executive on the Sunday Mirror and Daily Express, who now runs his own monthly, the Saddleworth Independent, anything local that might be taken up, skilfully and energetically, could mean victory. In its ninth issue the paper broke the news, in December, that a Voice of Saddleworth party would fight every ward in next May’s council elections, on a platform of “Saddleworth before party politics”.Every candidate will claim to fit such a bill, but with only a fortnight to convince voters, Watkins’ previous run at the job could prove handy. The Lib Dems have also earned points for calling the election quickly, ignoring Westminster etiquette which gives the right to the sitting party.”People here are longing, yearning even, for an end to all this business and the right to have an MP making their voice heard, like everyone else,” said Bennett.
Against that, Labour’s Debbie Abrahams stands to pick up votes from another of the region’s many varieties of disgruntlement. Geoff Haigh, who runs the Ram’s Head , at the constituency’s highest point, a tongue of Lancashire where, in the old days, West Riding of Yorkshire county council refused to collect bins or grit the moorland road – summed it up.
“I don’t think a court should interfere with our judgment,” he said of the Woolas debacle. “We voted him in. It should be up to us to vote him out at the next election if we want to.”One signal could be whether the Ram’s Head erects the vast red Labour billboard that greeted Tony Blair in May, when he dropped by on his election tour to pick up a strawberry-topped cake for his birthday. “I’m not saying how I’ll vote,” said Haigh, “but Woolas was certainly a thorough constituency MP. I’ll put it like this, as my granny wrote in my autograph book when I was a boy: ‘You never know the value of water until the well runneth dry.’ “

Surely one can only see it as embarrassing that UKIP lacks a credible candidate and failed to get so much as a mention from its local candidater who is after all the party Chairman and thus Farage’s puppet placement after 17 years!
Then again with just 1,720 votes trailing the BNP by best pat of 30% and beset with publicity of playing the fool – utter incompetence in management terms – failed leadership – attacks by the claimed leader on his own people on TV – endless self inflicted bad publicity – Court case after Court case lost – dishonourable failure to settle their debts – contempt for British Law – collusion in Racism, anti Judaism, sexual harassment and the like with their violent gutter chums in the EFD in EUrope – what would one expect.
It is a very long time singe UKIP had a positive story of any consequence in the media and can YOU remember one that wasn’t put there in desperation to pimp up Farage?
Now I don’t claim to know much about that bit from Shropshire to The Scottish Borders but do correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the allegiance split between Manchester, Sunderland, Newcastle & Liverpool?
Isn’t the main rivalry between Liverpool & Manchester where to give both something they can win at they both have 2 football teams! Glasgow has nothing going for it either a ghastly dump but to try to have an occasional winner they have two football teams too.
Like all football teams they all seem to represent their community and be hugely in debt with over paid oiks milking the local; poor.
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Oldham strongly affiliated with Manchester? Doesn’t that make the concept of putting a nebish from Liverpool in situ as a candidate make UKIP look outright idiotic – is this just another ego trip by Nuttall or just another example of unprofessional leadership by the utterly incompetent Farage?

I can think of no alternative solution that does not bring shame on the British body politic – well MORE shame!
However much the poisinous claque forming the leadership and their crano rectally retentive claque of fools and liars willing like McGough, Denny, Croucher, Fuller, Baron, Skeptyk and their ilk to totally prostitute themselves with their lies and distortions and self serving utter idiocy – however dishonest and corrupt they are prepared to be they have no future of any value and are clearly a part of the problem and thus doing all they can to prevent credible opposition, on behalf of Britain, to membership of The EU.
For all their lies and bluster they do so much more to aid The EU than Labour & Tory put together because most of the British people are not politically interested to realise just how much UKIP does to strengthen The EU.
That some believe UKIP under its present leadership is an effective tool in opposition to membership of The EU is unsurprising though it is clear to the informed that this raft of self serving, liars, low lifes, racists, xenophobes and sexually intolerant supporters of violence in politics, anti Judaism and Holocaust denial tolerated by the Zionist wing which so damages Judaism.
UKIP in its present form with its present leadership is an excrecence – they lack even the honesty of The BNP who at least everyone knows are racist, Nationalists with their roots in murder, white supremacy and anti Jewish campaigning which they do not repudiate or denounce and clearly do not apologise for!
IF UKIP were to rid itself of the scum that has risen to the top and so befouled the party MIGHT there be a future as an anti EU membership party of some description with parts of The Tory Party seeking out the Liberal vote of the extremist Lib.Dims. and the determination of the Cleggerons to destroy Britain for their own gain as duplicitous sell outs to alien control?
Who cares wins?
In the tiny, foetid world of Westminster politics, where the rats are too well-paid to jump ship, passions are stirring and stresses are building up.
Despite growing unpopularity, the Cleggerons – or unidentified factions therein – want to acquire an electoral identity and put up candidates at the next playtime. Others, who still have some ambitions of being Conservatives, want to go it alone in the expectation of being able to acquire a majority vote.
The boys and girls in the playpen, however, have not yet realised how loathed they are, and that the majority of the country is entirely indifferent to their petty scheming. Short of a revolution, the population will probably not begin to take an interest until the current party structure is ripped apart and new alliances are created.
What has to happen here is that the Conservative Party splits. This has been on the cards for many years, but now it really must happen. Then, the soggy, centre-left under the leadership of the Cleggerons will form its own party, reinforced by soggy, centre-left elements from Labour.
The new, nationalist “right” will then form an alliance with UKIP (or steal its votes), while the “left” will join up with the greens to form a blud und boden national socialist alliance, where the intolerance already displayed by its members will thrive.
One can then see the new alliances squeezing the Cleggerons into oblivion, and real politics returning. It will be messy, and won’t be at all pretty, but it will be more honest than the faux consensus on offer. Until then, who cares wins?

an interesting summary of the mess created by Farage’s professionalism in his Party – as ever!
However I do find fault with the title:

As surely it would be more honest and thus less misleading if it pointed out:

as clearly the title actually given implies they were not guilty but were found guilty due to their lack of competence and professionalism. Studying the evidence led The Judge found that Ms. Sinclaire had made a ‘well founded’ case. Clearly implying her case was convincing based upon the facts and evidence.
However vigerous UKIP may be after the event does not alter the fact that the case is ‘Well founded’ and is merely yet another act of unprofessional incompetence in throwing good money after bad defending indefencible behaviour.
Rather embarrassingly for UKIP their pleading would seem to include a disregard and contempt for British Justice and a belief on their part YET AGAIN that The EU provides better law which YET AGAIN they will try to hide behind to flout British Justice.
The hypocracy of Farage’s Party is quite staggering and even now having displayed their incompetence we have their fools and mouth pieces snearing at the Courts and the plaintiff bringing UKIP yet further into disrepute. Just for a moment consider what a ghastly job a Farage Party would make if it was ever responsible for anything of consequence – though UKIP members may seek principled concepts and Farage may be a spokesman for such as a performer it is clear UKIP has no future without a competent leader of some ability rather than a strutting poppinjay bereft of morality, ethics or any Officer Qualities however loudly he may bray!
UKIP found guilty of homophobia – because they forgot to defend themselves!
In an act of sheer incompetence today UKIP have been declared guilty-by-default of homophobia after MEP Nikki Sinclaire lodged a complaint against the party and they failed to submit a defence. The openly lesbian MEP claimed she was unfairly expelled from the party after she refused to join its European Parliament grouping, claiming members of the Italian Lega Nord party were “homophobic”.
Nigel Farage and Godfrey Bloom were named as respondents in the judgement, which said that the claim of sexual discrimination was “well founded”.
UKIP blamed their failure to defend themselves on a “simple administrative error”. They have now submitted a request for the judgement to be set aside, and said that Farage and Bloom always intended to defend themselves “vigorously” and wanted to challenge “every aspect” of Sinclaire’s claims.
The whole episode smacks of incredible incompetence. If UKIP were so determined to defend themselves “vigorously” then how on Earth could they have forgotten the deadline?! Amateurish does not even begin to describe it. If they are to be taken seriously as a party they need to vastly improve themselves and get professional.
The problem may lie in their low membership, giving them a very small pool of talent. You only need to look at the quality of some of their MEPs and past parliamentary candidates to perceive them as a party of eccentrics: people who know what they believe but couldn’t run a bath let alone a country.
Hopefully as more right-wing Tories inevitably defect the talent pool will grow and they will start to produce more serious candidates. Most of the members I’ve met seem solidly Eurosceptic, but some take it to such fanatical extremes that they lose all sense of proportion and end up doing and saying foolish things. Criticising the Queen because she did not veto government legislation over Europe is one such absurd view I’ve heard.
For the moment, despite their high number of MEPs, UKIP remain a party with a few talented individuals, but mainly eccentrics, kooks and anti-EU fanatics. More genuine conservatives should defect over to the party to give it a real appeal and keep down the sorts who miss court deadlines or call the monarch a “German bitch” for not defying centuries of convention and vetoing parliament’s legislation.

Interestingly it will be noted that Nikki Sinclaire actually resigned from The EFD with the full approval of her issue of principle by UKIP’s puppet leader Malcolm Lord Pearson as sjhe had stated clearly her desire not to be assicuiated with Nigel Farage’s Pan EU Political Party Group Ther EFD on the grounds of their extreme racism, xenophobia, Holocaust denial and anti Jewish behaviour as manifest by its leading members.
As I recall no mention of Homophobia was mentioned until some 2 months later when UKIP leadership made much of Nikki Sinclaire’s perversion as a homosexual were claimed to be her reason.
It will be noted that although openly stated to be a homosexual as the perversion is totally legal Sinclaire has always rejected the concept of making capital or status from her homosexuality. Including having refused to be associated with any homosexual grouping within UKIP claiming there should be no such grouping as all members should be treated equally. This is a principle on which she has made a public stance as on the media programme ‘Queer Question Time’ when on the matter of violence against homosexuals should be addressed she rather upset some by saying all violence should be addressed equally with no preference to protect homosexuals.
UKIP’s position is completely untennable as shown by the Judge in his statement that Sinclaire’s claim was ‘well founded’ and clearly it is as membership of The EFD is ultra vires to UKIP’s own constitution yet UKIP claim Sinclaire was dismissed the whip and victimised for refusal to sit with the morally reprehensible EFD of which Farage has chosen to be a member for his party – remember this WAS AGREED as a laudable stance by Pearson!
A further sabotage to UKIP, Farage & Bloom’s wrigglings by way of defence would seem to be the fact that Mike Nattrass MEP likewise refused to sit with The EFD yet he has not been in any way penalised by Farage’s Party leading any right minded individual to seek the difference between Nattrass & Sinclaire under the circumstances and thus it is reasonable to assume Farage orchestrated removal of Sinclaire based unlawfully on prejudice as an homosexual and or as a woman..

many papers around Britain report the Judgement against UKIP and detail the unprofessional performance of UKIP under Farage.
Sadly UKIP has a hugely popular message as shown CLICK HERE but without competent, plausible leadership it is going nowhere and is clearly trusted by virtually no one in statistical terms with a risible 3.01% of the public vote in British Elections.

A former UK Independence Party MEP has won her claim that the party discriminated against her because she was a lesbian.
Nikki Sinclaire MEP had the whip removed by UKIP leader Nigel Farage in January after she refused to sit with members of the far-right Italian party Lega Nord, claiming some of its members were homophobic.
Ms Sinclaire said it was ‘ridiculous’ she had been asked to join the Europe of Freedom and Democracy bloc, which includes Lega Nord.
‘You would not expect a black MEP to sit next to a Ku Klux Klan member so why would you expect me to sit next to someone who wanted me dead?’ she said.
The judgment, on which Mr Farage and Godfrey Bloom MEP were both listed as respondents, found that: ‘The claim of sexual orientation discrimination is well founded’.
The party made no defence when she lodged a discrimination suit against it at Exeter Employment Tribunal and a default judgment was made in her favour.
But Ukip said today it had failed to lodge a response because of an administrative error and that an application for the judgment to be set aside had been filed.
Ms Sinclaire, who now sits as an independent, said: ‘I’m very saddened by how this has all turned out. I have been trying to work for an out of court settlement but at no point did Ukip come to me and say: “Right, shall we talk about this?”
‘I feel betrayed by the party. When I joined Ukip in 1994 it certainly wasn’t a career move. I did my bit in building Ukip up to second in a national election and they have repaid me with discrimination.’

Ms Sinclaire claims that Mr Bloom, MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, called her ‘a queer’ as she passed him in the hallway of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
She said she had made an official complaint and the alleged incident was being investigated by Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament.
Mr Bloom denied making the comment and said he was unaware of any investigation. The European Parliament could not confirm whether an investigation was under way.
Ms Sinclaire claims Mr Bloom called her ‘a queer’ as she passed him in the hallway of the European Parliament in Strasbourg
Mr Bloom said: ‘I’ve received absolutely nothing from the European Union, the President, the Parliament or anybody else about this. The first I heard of it was when she filed [the discrimination suit] so I really can’t add anything.’
He said he was normally made aware of complaints within 24 hours. In November he was ejected from the Parliamentary chamber after making a Nazi jibe while a German MEP was speaking.
In their statement Ukip said: ‘Because of a simple administrative error, the date for filing a response to Ms Sinclaire’s action was regrettably missed. The respondents have now filed an application to set aside the judgment.
‘The respondents have always intended to defend this case vigorously and the application is accompanied by a robust response challenging almost every aspect of her case, including the Tribunal’s jurisdiction.’
A remedy hearing, where compensation may be awarded, will take place on December 29.

Nikki SINCLAIRE TRIES TO CLARIFY for UKIP MEMBERS! CLEARLY UKIP IS UNFIT for OFFICE & HAS CONTEMPT for BRITISH COURTS & JUSTICE! A COMPLETE FAILURE of ETHICS, INTEGRITY, MORALITY or PROFESSIONALISM by UKIP!
UKIP, Farage and Bloom have applied to the Tribunal to have the judgement ‘set aside’ on the basis of an administrative error. That all three forgot they had to reply to the claims against them and there was a mix up in all three of their diaries. The ET rules were recently changed allowing respondents 28 days rather than 14 days to reply to allow for due consideration etc.
I note that Nigel was elected under the banner of professionalising the party and the new Party Secretary, Michael Greaves, a Barrister admits to have been at fault here.
The Tribunal Judge has decided not to accept their application without hearing their application IN PERSON and a hearing will be scheduled in due course. The rules state that at least 14 days notice must be given for a hearing. Therefore, currently the Judgement remains in force and the Remedy hearing postponed.
As this hearing will heard due to the negligence of UKIP, Farage and Bloom; they will be expected to pay the costs of all sides in full.
No matter howmuch the proven dishonest like Skeptyk, Denny, McGough, Croucher and the like or fools like Baron, Stuart Parr or their like lie, distort and spin it is clear that their masters have yet again been ‘out to lunch’ when having made complete fools of themselves they had a duty of care to UKIP Members to ensure they resolved the mess their utterly unprofessional and crass behaviour had caused.
I must say I find it interesting that Michael Greave is portrayed by UKIP as Party Secretary yet they fail to show he is a Barrister which to me is a step beyond unprofessional into the realms of dishonesty having lied by omission in the most unprofessional manner.
Further it is interesting to note that UKIP’s Party Secretary is listed as a Civil Servant of The EU assigned to The EFD which is quite clearly a malevolent, malign racist, xenophobic and anti Jewish Pan EU Political Party Grouping that advocates and practices ilegal violence and several of its members have been incacerated for their criminal activities as with Holocaust Denial and overt support for The Nazi practices of the Germans!
We now find the Civil Servant Michael Greave a Barrister acting against an elected politician in a Court of law and acting for the defendant in a particularly odious display of unlawfull prejudice!
Perhaps we should not be surprised that The EU would thus corrupt the concepts of Justice nor in fact can it be seen as surprising that UKIP, which is ostensibly elected to OPPOSE Britain’s membership of The EU, is yet again seeking to use EU law to protect it from the consequences of their offences as perceived by British Courts.
UKIP leadership has a well proven track record of moral bankruptcy and contempt for British Justice and the Courts of Britain!
This is supposedly the professionalism promised by Nigel Farage to get himself elected!

West Midland MEP Nikki Sinclaire wins discrimination claim against UKIP
A former UK Independence Party MEP, who represents West Midlands in the European Parliament, haswon her claim that the party discriminated against her because she was a lesbian.

He said he was normally made aware of complaints within 24 hours. In November he was ejected from the Parliamentary chamber after making a Nazi jibe while a German MEP was speaking.
Ms Sinclaire said it was “ridiculous” she had been asked to join the Europe of Freedom and Democracy bloc, which includes Lega Nord.
She said: “You would not expect a black MEP to sit next to a Ku Klux Klan member so why would you expect me to sit next to someone who wanted me dead?”
In their statement Ukip said: “Because of a simple administrative error, the date for filing a response to Ms Sinclaire’s action was regrettably missed.
“The Respondents have now filed an application to set aside the judgment. The Respondents have always intended to defend this case vigorously and the application is accompanied by a robust response challenging almost every aspect of her case, including the Tribunal’s jurisdiction.”
A remedy hearing, where compensation may be awarded, will take place on December 29.

Farage openly declared his contempt for British law deliberately and publicly insulting the authorities and forcing them to Court where UKIP was found guilty of accepting unlawfull donations from Alan Bowne.
A UKIP team comprising the Chairman Paul Nuttall, Press Officer Clive Page supported Mark Croucher in a malicious case against myself which they lost thus having a moral responsibility to pay my costs of £12,500 and compensate me for their dishonesty and the judge found Mark Croucher personally responsible for £8,500 – to date UKIP has lacked the integrity or basic morality to hounour their debt in complete contempt of the British Courts.
UKIP not only has a letigious reputation but a clear track record of utter contempt for British Courts. These are NOT isolated cases!
UKIP did not even assist OLAF, the Police or Courts when Tom Wise UKIP MEP was shown to have been fraudulently stealing money from the tax payers for his personal gain – UKIP even went so far as to hold a totally corrupt inquiry using Trevor Coleman and the NEC to orchestrate a cover-up. Minded of the huige amount of proof backing Nikki Sinclaire’s claim much of which is documented in context and in a clear verifiable date manner or the comments of such as the bullying and dishonesty that can be found on Anthony Butcher’s sordid UKIP Forum – or the postings of such as Jonathan Isaby on the official UKIP Forum as an ajunct to the mischief making and lies told to The Sunday Times and the noted rewards Isaby received from Nigel Farage, who all know controls the employment within his Party even his puppet Chairman has to seek Farage’s permission to employ staff which has been shown on The Junius blog and can be attested to in any Court.
So it is clear that UKIP is sexually intollerant as shown by the Court Judgement and the simple fact that UKIP has deliberately sought out partners who openly advocate the hunting and killing of homosexuals – perhaps the endless jibes and tasteless comments on Butcher’s Forum by such as Baron and MANY others clearly show UKIP to be outspokenly opposed to the totally legal perversion of homosexuals, be they male or female.
The attacks on Sinclaire by UKIP have shown they have no desire to act with integrity and that they lied in order to remove her as Westminster PPC and have debarred her and prevented Party support for any future UKIP candidacy is irrefutable – that Christopher Gill issued instruction to mount a robbery at her office which was carried out, that Lord Pearson whilst masquerading as leader not only lied to Nikki Sinclaire and issued a public letter that was a pack of lies regarding her proves she could not expect ANY co-operation from UKIP.
Any order that UKIP must reinstate her would be pointless as UKIP has shown it has nothing but contempt for the law and does not carry out the orders of the Courts and dishonorably defaults on its duties in respect of Court decisions.
It will be noted that recently UKIP was ordered to reinstate a member by The Courts and compensate the individual as at earlier this week when I checked UKIP had made absolutely no effort to honour the judgement of the Court!
In terms of consideration of Nikki Sinclaire’s personal losses it is reasonable to assume that as UKIP’s lead candidate on the West Midlands list, as the current ’01 is Mike Nattrass who intends to retire at the next election I understand. To date no major British party and in respect of EU elections be minded UKIP came 2nd. untrusted as they may be by the electorate within Britain – NOT A SINGLE British sitting MEP who stood for re-election has EVER failed to be elected and Sinclaire had the added benefit of being the top of the list.
Thus clearly, minded that Sinclaire is young she could be reasonably certain of being re elected to a further 3 terms at least, a totally reasonable assumption which ensures a VERY generous pension and probable senior office within Britain and commensurate Directorships – Here is ajudging compensation it is clear that the Judge must be minded when considering the damages which run well into 7 figures the Judge should clearly suggest his opinion as to when The EU can be expected to fail and collapse – clearly that was the purpose for which Nikki Sinclaire was elected by the British peoples.
Minded that Farage has clearly stated that in his first two terms as an MEP he has personally made over £2Million over and above his salary and is known to have banked £1/4Million in just one cheque to his Isle of Man off shore account as Farage Educational Trust, Farage has also paid his wife £30K a year from the public purse for what his own constituency office is for services unknown to them!
This clearly should be considered in terms of the compensation due to Sinclaire and possibly the source to fund it!

NIKKI SINCLAIRE MEP SUCCEEDS IN HOMOPHOBIA CASE AGAINST UKIP

Nikki Sinclaire MEP has won her claim against the UK Independence Party on the grounds of Sexual Orientation Discrimination with her claim being described by Employment Judge Harper as ‘well founded’.
A Remedy Hearing to determine which sanction will be taken will take place on the 29th December 2010.
Ms. Sinclaire claimed her treatment by UKIP was partly due to her refusal to sit in the European Parliament with the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) Group which shares an allegiance with UKIP due to her misgivings about the ‘offensive’ ideology of Liga Nord and other extreme right-wing parties in the coalition.
She states after her refusal, a campaign of intimidation followed from UKIP members, including Nigel Farage and Godfrey Bloom which resulted in the whip being removed and her being prevented from standing for the UK Independence Party as a parliamentary candidate in the General Election without any disciplinary procedure. Furthermore, other UKIP MEPs who refused to sit with EFD including Mike Nattrass were still allowed to represent UKIP which she believes is an example of the deep rooted homophobia within the party.
Additionally, Ms. Sinclaire who is openly gay was subjected to discrimination by senior party members such as Godfrey Bloom who labelled her a ‘queer’.
‘I am extremely pleased with the tribunal’s decision. The treatment I received from UKIP is a sad indictment of how politics in the UK has not kept up in the 21st century. I have as much right as everyone else to express my beliefs and ask others to support my views. I should not have to suffer from such behaviour’.
