This Blog & others have consistently exposed the corruption in UKIP & its association with The EFD Group!
Finally but very belatedly Farage & UKIP have acted due to the media world wide showing them this blog and others were 100% Right!
.
as a result of consistent, reliable and accurate information supplied by this blog and also Junius and others also in the light of the many pages of facts at CLICK HERE on behalf of UKIP Nigel Farage’s Press Office wrote a statement for him and the Lega Nord have taken some belated action as a result of the continuous bad publicity UKIP has attracted.
Here is UKIP’s spin to try to pretend they acted with integrity – Clearly bunckum as had they ethics and had they acted morally they would have denounced The Lega Nord and others in The Pan EU Political Party EFD Group long ago and even now they are still prepared to befoul UKIP’s name for their personal gain by association with The EFD Group.
Here is UKIP’s second announcement almost 2 years too late, when the damage that this blog, Junius team and others warned of has occurred, and UKIP is associated with these vile people racists, anti homosexual, pro EU Membership, anti Jewish, Holocaust Deniers, with criminal records for their violence and their race hatred.
Farage made the mistake of ‘press ganging’ UKIP into The EFD against all advice and failed to act decisively or competently as a leader – surrounding himself with paid lakeys to sing his praises at the expense of the party funded by prostituting UKIP members to this vile Pan EU Political Group The EFD.
Only when the inevitable, as predicted, happened and UKIP’s associates were exposed for just how vile they are in the world media did UKIP take any action, too late and still too little – Rather than act honourably and decisively apologising for having failed to listed to reason out of greed and resign from The EFD the Farage Fan Club is still trying to save face and enrich themselves here is their statement:
Following prompt action from Nigel Farage, UKIP and others, the Northern League, UKIP’s colleagues in the European Parliament, have suspended Mario Borghezio from, “all party posts and functions, including the Presidency of his local party”.
Borghezio had made comments on Italian radio that suggested he supported the ideology of Anders Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer.A UKIP spokesman said, “We are satisfied that the Lega Nord leaderships actions today to suspend Mr Borghezio from all aspects of his membership of the party will send a clear message that they, and we will not have any truck with such disgraceful sentiments now or in the future.”
Francesco Speroni, the Lega Nord leader in the European Parliament said in a letter to Mr Farage last night, “I condemn the massacre and the extreme fundamentalism in question.”
Mr Farage is convening the governing Bureau of the EFD Group in the European Parliament next week in order to suspend Mr Borghezio from his membership of the group.
Mario Borghezio is just one of several of the members of The EFD Group that no one of any ethical or moral standing would wish to be associated with.
Only yesterday Farage in belated panic having been exposed in the media was desperately trying to distance himself from Borghezio and Speroni (who was supporting Borghezio and trying to justify the vile creep). Let us not forget that despite his criminal behaviour Nigel Farage never removed Tom Wise from the PEP Group he led at the time nor withdrew his membership of UKIP and in utterly corrupt and dishonest fashion Douglas Denny blocked a disciplinary hearing.
UKIP NEC, with numerous liars and cheats and UKIP leadership are unarguably corrupt and not fit for purpose.
This belated example of gesture politics shows UKIP in their true light, sadly.
This blog and others have stated from about this date in 2009 when it was first wispered in shame that UKIP might form this EFD Group that to become associated with such vile people would damage UKIP even if it enriched certain members and gave jobs to others who clearly believed they were near unemployable (Rightly so!).
Membership has been as a result of clearly inept and incompetent leadership as with the £1,000s being spent on the divisive and catastrophic attempts of those without morality to prostitute principles for cash in forming future Pan EU Political Groups like The EFD – where UKIP is expected to support the intollerable for money!
It may well be late in the day but having had one of the great downsides of Political Grouping with others with different values writ large by the odious behaviour – YET AGAIN – of a member of The vile EFD Group being thrust upon UKIP in the world media. However even now decisive leadership could have been made and an immediate end brought to both membership of The EFD Group or any self serving efforts of any member of UKIP that could place UKIP in such a debased position again.
It will be noted the calliber of scum supporting PEPP membership and the fact that it has lost UKIP 3 MEPs already in any meaningful terms and that with the now largely independent liar and fraud Marta Andreasen distanced from the party and David Bannerman having acted as this blog warned 7 years ago and after befouling UKIP with his lies, fraud, cheating and dishonesty he has returned to his natural home betraying The Tories.
So effectively Farage has fallen out with 5 of his MEPs, 3 due to his determination to gain from membership of the vilest group in The EU – Advocates of murder who have drawn absolutely no public censure from UKIP or its members.
Speaking with the residual MEPs as our associates and informants do on a regular basis we know Stuart Agnew is batting for himself and The NFU, whilst under investigation by OLAF.
That Gerard Batten would not understand morality if it bit him on the bumb and if he had any backbone it would equate to a personality inplant, but he will go along with anything that might get him re-elected.
Paul Nuttall has largely kept a low profile as even he must be aware of just how out of his depth he is, so he mimics Farage to try to hang on, bewilderingly we even hear he has pretentions of leading UKIP one day (Is UKIP never to have anyone of ability, gravitas and probity as a leader?).
John Bufton would clearly lick any boots that would further his career – one need only note his sell out of Wales when without consultation Farage invented a new policy which we know Bufton did not agree with yet he failed to speak out in defence of his committee, staff and supporters – a gutless twerp seeking a second term he has failed to show one wit of morality and has supported the vile EFD throughout.
All one could possibly praise Bufton for was recycling an old political joke explaining why The EU will never succeed:
A cruise ship full of English, French, Germans and Italians, started sinking in the middle of the Med.The captain radioed for help, but the ship was sinking fast meaning passengers would have to jump into the sea and wait to be picked up.As he grappled with the impending disaster, he sent his Second in Command to give the passengers the instructions.Five minutes later he came back looking anxious. “What’s wrong?” the Captain asked.“They all refused to listen” replied the Second. So the Captain went off to do it himself. He came back five minutes later. “OK, done!” he stated.“How did you do that?” exclaimed the bewildered Second.“Well…” stated the Captain “…I told the British it was traditional, I told the French it was fashionable, I told the Germans it was an order and I told the Italians it was forbidden!”
I guess one of the great disadvantages of a weak and venal leader is that they attract those who are weaker and yet more dishonest as they dare not empower anyone who might challenge them.
Farage’s total lack of Officer Qualities has constantly landed UKIP in the gutter whether by the employment of sordid garbage like Mark Croucher who repeatedly befouled UKIP, gutter trash like the corrupt and dishonest Annabelle Fuller, the venal and self serving, liars and cheats like Mick McGough Douglas Denny and many more.
What hope has UKIP of ever being taken seriously in the light of their own inability to act with any modicum of decency – They do not, even now, realise they are befouling the reputation of UKIP in their corrupt association with The EFD and their divisive ambitions to form PEPPs to aid The EU in undermining National Politics in return for outright bribes carried out with money duplicitously extorted from the tax payers oif the vassal regions of this odious supra national empirate.
It is also worthy of note that by firing Borghezio The EFD is perilously close to being shut down by The EU as having insufficient members as it is now clear that The Dutch whom they had hoped for will have nothing to do with them! Similarly The Austrian extremists are by no means a certainty to join as was hoped.

As MEP for The West Midlands EU Region she shows up Walsall Council Tory Leader as a ‘Right Little Hitler’ to quote one member of the public on The BBC!
.
It is good to see an MEP standing their ground against a Tory Council and showing up their complete ineptitude as here in discussion with Mike Bird the leader of Walsall Council.
Furthermore it is good to see an MEP actually doing what they were elected to do rather than merely riding the gravy train with their snout buried in the EU’s troughs!

I must admit neither do I, nor have I ever found Nikki Sinclaire MEP scary whatever her height but I do find a black man who writes for The Guardian on matters such as racism, prejudice, equality and the like scary when they make it quite so clear that they have absoluterly no understanding of the subject they write about and use pejorative and prejudicial language in their reports.
Is this a case of because he is black he can be pejorative and get away with it? I do feel that he would be the first one screaming for blood if someone pejoratively called him a nigger yet he seems to find it acceptable to call someone ‘scary’ BECAUSE as a woman they are considerably taller than him.
I have never in my life called someone a ‘nigger’, but then again I have never called a woman over 6 foot scary – I clearly am not as prejudiced or mean spirited as The Guardian or its staff seeking out cheap shots they can get away with and trying to pass them off as Journalism!

Sadly it seems all too clear that this blog, Junius and others have been right all along!
Morality would seem, amongst UKIP’s leadership and its vile parasites to be based on economic expediency and being ‘found out’!
.
earlier today, as a result of publicity on this blog and others making efforts to clean-up UKIP & due to the eventual intervention of the media world wide – to try to make UKIP electable by people of integrity rather than driven by a claque of self serving self enriching jack asses reliant on an ill informed membership and public Morality was forced upon Nigel Farage the absolute leader of UKIP to make a very belated statement:
Nigel Farage, Leader of UKIP, today contacted Francesco Speroni, co-president of The Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD), a group in the European Parliament, to demand an immediate retraction and apology following his remarks and those of his fellow Northern League MEP Mario Borghezio. The comments, both made in recent radio interviews, were in response to the tragedy in Norway where seventy-six people were killed by Anders Behring Breivik. If no retraction is forthcoming then UKIP will suspend its membership of the EFD group in which it sits alongside the Italian political party.Borghezio, described the ideas of Breivik as “good” and “excellent”. Speroni has now said he believed Borghezio’s comments to be “in support of Western civilisation”. UKIP totally disassociates itself from the remarks of Borghezio and Speroni. The Northern League is due to meet tomorrow (Friday) to discuss the issue. In the meantime Northern League minister, Roberto Calderoli has condemned Borghezio’s remarks.
Nigel Farage said: “I find Breivik’s actions and idealogy of hatred totally repugnant. Anybody who would praise the political ideology of this mass murderer is morally and politically misguided. Consequently I have written to the leadership of the Northern League party to demand an immediate full retraction and apology. If my request is not met, then we will suspend our membership of the EFD group.”

Astonishingly even now UKIP leadership & its parasites JUST DON’T GET IT!
Read their statement which for all its belated bluster merely threatens to ‘SUSPEND’ its membership of the vile EFD Group which particularly My blogs and Junius have highlighted ever since before membership of the pro EU membership, anti Jewish, racist, xenophobic, anti homosexual group was first mooted have denounced as utterly untenable as partners for a British Patriotic Organisation of any description even if it did personally enrich some of its leadership and their sordid parasites.
We note that UKIP have not demanded the removal of the vile creatures who offered ANY kind of support to Anders Breivik – that his intellectual premises were far from original and some may have made sense is absolutely no grounds for UKIP leadership to remain in association with these vile creatures whilst hypocritically denouncing The BNP odious as they are and UKFirstParty for having rightly challenged UKIP’s corruption! However much UKIP leadership may have profited from membership of the EFD or any other PEPP.
It is noted that this faux morality was not only belated and completely inadequate but clearly self serving – perhaps UKIP would care to explain their ethical motivation which caused Farage to denounce the outrageous comments of Mario Borghezio and his allies pertinent to Anders Breivik whilst choosing to ignore the statement from the same source that North African Immigrants should be shot – Is this UKIP’s inate racism such that it is OK to shoot blackmen but not Norwegians or is it just yet another example of UKIP’s self serving corruption?
It may well be expedient for UKIP to note some of the very sound points made on this issue on their own in house forum where Rob McWhirter is not alone in praise of Nikki Sinclaire’s Press Comments long before Farage realised this was one offense too many and he had no choice but to mumble a somewhat mealie mouthed denunciation even though it will further damage his inciome and control through the 400 Account (formerly 4000 Account) and the EU budget for group international travel scams.

Cleaned-Up sufficiently to be taken seriously as a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem by the Ethical Majority in Britain!
.
Hi,
in considering UKIP, The EFD and Pan EU Political Parties one would do well to consider the quote of a dedicated long term member of UKIP in discussion of UKIP’s partner on The EFD‘s comments Mario Borghezio‘s comments when he said of the violent Norwegian Christian nutter & spree killer Anders Breivik:
“One hundred per cent of Breivik’s ideas are good, in some cases extremely good. The positions of Breivik reflect the views of those movements across Europe which are winning elections.”
It is a disgrace that UKIP are associated with such people.
He is quite right and this highlights one of the potential catastrophic outcomes of UKIP, or any genuinely patriotic party, following the money and being lumped in with the comments of vile Nationalists be they British, as with The BNP, EDL, Zionism (under a guise of Friends of Israel) or the like.
Yet more astonishing is that a party can stand for votes and clamour and expound on being patriotic and not at all like these Parties mentioned, yet join with even more odious foreign partners for self enrichment!
Interestingly UKIP loudly (currently) bans ex members of The BNP & UKFirst Party, due to their racism, and in UKFP‘s 9about whom UKIP knew astonishiongly little as proven by their idiotic belief that I would have been a member or associated with Peter Cole or its other founders for whom I had utter contempt, particularly in the light of their association with Tom Wise – (an association which was clandestine and unknown by Robin Page, Petrina Holdsworth & John West I believe! Also probably others involved such as Trevor Coleman) – UKIP’s case seemingly being for daring to stand in British elections to oppose the racism and association of UKIP with such groups as The EFD to clean-up the party and make it electable yet are banned from joining UKIP!
It is notable UKIP leadership claque wave these rules arbitrarily when it suits them, as with John Petley of UKFP who was reintroduced as an employee of Prof. Tim Congdon and conveniently UKIP overlook the fact that an ex UKIP elected NEC member is the registered owner of The UKFirst Party (by the way he is African by ethnic origin!), having driven him out of UKIP – is this clandestine racism on UKIP’s part?
So it would seem UKIP is happy to support vile racist, anti Jewish, anti homosexual advocates of murder when it suits them, especially when it pays its own corrupted leadership and its parasites!
Is UKIP now a spent force that has betrayed its electorate, its Country, its values for a grubby claque of charlatans who are enriching themselves as they feed at the EU Troughs and would seem to be a part of the problem with no serious role in the solution?
This may not be a popular question for UKIP, but clearly it is they who have provided the need for it to be very clearly answered, and that they have so desperately undermined their own credibility, not just by association with the scum of EU Politics in The EFD Group but by whom they have employed and empowered – so many low lifes like Mark Croucher, Mick McGough, Hugh Williams, Annabelle Fuller, Marta Andreasen, Malcolm Pearson, Gawain Towler, Stuart Agnew, David Bannerman, Derek Clark and the like all proven liars and cheats they clearly command nor deserve respect in any field, least of all political.
Regards,
Greg_L-W.

Meanwhile UKIP Bicker and squabble and lose more Court Cases based on Failure to Obey THEIR OWN RULES – as they clearly did when they chose to lie about and abuse Nikki Sinclaire MEP!
UKIP achieves very little of note whilst Sinclaire, Nattrass, Coleman and Andreasen just plough on with their efforts!
NOTE The Cross Party Support & Respect The Petition has gained!

Hi,
well done to Nikki Sinclaire’s team who have clearly been working hard to reach the target of 100,000 signatures and I gather they are now within striking distance as they launch their new magazine.
Any help you can give will help as not only does it keep the issue of The EU in the forefront of public minds but also it ensures we can move closer to a Referendum on In/Out of the EU.
Obtaining 100,000 signatures is no guarantee of a referendum but it will clearly ascertain if the co-alition government is honourable or deceitful as it was they who stated that 100,000 signatures would ensure a full debate in Parliament and it shows what the people of Britain want.
Will the Politicians act in what the people of Britain consider their own best interests and their fundamental human right of Self Determination or will our Politicians continue to betray us and our Country for their personal gain!
To view this 12 page magazine, which will be available in hard copy in a week or two you can read it on line if you just CLICK the PICTURE
Especially see Page 02 and the participation of Richard Shepherd MP
You will note the following item on The Parliament Site:

EU Referendum
that the Petitioners believe that the Government should allow the British people a referendum on the United Kingdom’s continued membership of the European Union.
Wherefore your petitioners pray that your honourable House urges the Government to bring forward legislative proposals to allow the British people a referendum on the United Kingdom’s continued membership of the European Union.

No sign of UKIP denouncing his comments even when challenged by The BBC UKIP merely said their partner did not represent their views!
Mario BORGHEZIO an MEP working with UKIP has made many obscene comments as shown below – yet UKIP have NEVER renounced him and continues to work with him!
UKIP’s position can only be seen as extreme racist, anti Homosexual and violent as they not only tolerate but make excuses for their colleague!!

Press Statement by Nikki Sinclaire MEP
My heart goes out to the victims of the atrocities that took place in Norway last week, and to their families. There can be no excuses, no justifications, this was nothing but an act of pure and unmitigated evil.In protest against violent right-wing extremism, I resigned from UKIP’s political group in the European Parliament, the Europe of Freedom & Democracy (EFD). I particularly cited the racism and homophobia prevelant in the Italian Lega Nord. As a result of my stand, I had the UKIP party whip withdrawn by the party leadership. In the wake of this vile mass murder, one of those Lega Nord MEPs I particularly objected to, Mario Borghezio, a man with at least two convictions for racially motivated violence, including an assualt on a child, has gone on record as supporting the murderer Breivik. He stated that “One hundred per cent of Breivik’s ideas are good, in some cases extremely good. The positions of Breivik reflect the views of those movements across Europe which are winning elections.”I now call upon UKIP MEPs to distance themselves from this objectionable political group, of which Lega Nord is not the only party to contain members with racial convictions. As 76 families mourn their loved ones, now is the moment for UKIP MEPs to take stock, and act on their conscience, rather than remain in a political group with such extremists, purely on the grounds that they can earn more money by doing so.
Notes to Editors: Nikki Sinclaire was elected as a UKIP MEP in June 2009. She sits on the parliament’s Human Rights Committee. In January 2010 she resigned from the EFD group after her protests about far-right extremist elements were ignored by the party leadership.Subsequently, Mike Nattrass, a UKIP MEP in his second term resigned from the EFD group for the same reasons as Miss Sinclaire.More recently, Trevor Colman, also a UKIP MEP serving his second term resigned from the EFD group. In 1993, Mario Borghezio was ordered to pay a fine of 750,000 lire following a violent assault on a Moroccan child in 1991. He appeared to justify this by alleging that the child was an illegal immigrant. In July 2005, Mario Borghezio was found guilty of arson, having set fire to the belongings of some immigrants while they were sleeping under a bridge in Turin during a vigilante raid. For this he was sentenced to two months and twenty days imprisonment, which he avoided by paying a fine.In September 2007, Mario Borghezio was arrested by Belgian police during an unauthorised anti-Islamic demonstration in Brussels.

An Italian MEP has described the ideas of Norway’s self-confessed mass killer, Anders Behring Breivik, as “good” and in some cases “excellent”.Mario Borghezio, who belongs to the Northern League party, condemned Mr Breivik’s violence, but backed his stance against Islam. The Northern League is a partner in PM Silvio Berlusconi’s government.Mr Borghezio’s comments in a radio interview sparked outrage, with opposition calls for the MEP to resign.Mr Breivik’s justification for killing 76 people was that he wanted to inflict maximum damage on Norway’s governing Labour Party because of its failure to clamp down on immigration.“Some of the ideas he expressed are good, barring the violence. Some of them are great,” Mario Borghezio told Il Sole-24 Ore radio station. He agreed with Mr Breivik’s “opposition to Islam and his explicit accusation that Europe has surrendered before putting up a fight against its Islamicisation”.
“What happened in Oslo shows how desperate some people are becoming in Europe”Stephen Lennon English Defence League
‘No excuses, no justifications’
The Northern League is an avowedly anti-immigration, regionalist Italian political party, key to the governing coalition, and known for its anti-Islamic rhetoric. The controversy sparked swift reaction from fellow MEPs.
“My heart goes out to the victims of the atrocities that took place in Norway last week, and to their families. There can be no excuses, no justifications. This was nothing but an act of pure and unmitigated evil,” said Nikki Sinclaire.Ms Sinclaire resigned last year from the European Parliament umbrella group, Europe of Freedom & Democracy (EFD), which included her UK Independence Party, as well as Italy’s Northern League. She cited the racism of Northern League members in making her decision.
“Mr Borghezio’s reported comments are shocking and, if accurately reported, reprehensible. They are in no way reflective of UKIP’s position or that of the EFD Group,” said a UKIP spokesman.‘Create monsters’
But Mr Borghezio is not the only right-wing politician to express sympathy with the actions of Anders Behring Breivik.A member of France’s far-right National Front party has been suspended after writing a defence of the Norwegian attacker on his blog.Jacques Coutela described Mr Breivik as “the main defender of the West”, comparing him to Charles Martel, a seventh century leader who halted Islamic expansion in western Europe.“The reason for the Norway terror attacks: fighting the Muslim invasion, that’s what people don’t want you to know”, read the post.Mr Coutela stood as a National Front candidate in local elections in March.“He was suspended today pending a party disciplinary committee,” said Steeve Briois, the Front’s general secretary.Meanwhile, the leader of the English Defence League (EDL), Stephen Lennon, said the mass killing in Norway was a wake-up call.“What happened in Oslo shows how desperate some people are becoming in Europe,” said Mr Lennon, who was convicted earlier this week of leading a brawl involving 100 football fans.“It’s a ticking time bomb. If they don’t give that frustration and anger a platform as such and a voice – and a way of getting emotion out in a democratic way – it will create monsters like this lunatic.”The EDL is also known for its strong stance against immigration.Mr Breivik has posted admiring comments online about the EDL.The League leadership is checking his claims to have contacts among its members.

Some weeks ago I received a message from the South East Chairman of the English Democrats, Steven Uncles. He requested a meeting with me to discuss electoral cooperation.
At the time I was dubious and delayed answering. However, with their acceptance of Richard Barnbrook, originally elected to the GLA for the BNP, I am adamant that at no point now or in the future must the UK Independence Party be linked with the English Democrats.
With this move, the party have put themselves beyond the pale. As a non racist, non sectarian party UKIP at all levels must have nothing to do with them.
We urge all English Democrats who feel as we do about this to join UKIP now.
End of quote. What utter hypocrisy! This is the man who happily sits with fascists, racists, holocaust deniers and anti-Semites in his EFD group! Or did Farage think that no one would notice?
Any member of the English Democrats who is tempted to join UKIP should think again. Both Nikki Sinclaire and Mike Nattrass left the EFD due to the overt racism and homophobia of certain colleagues. Here are some of the people that Farage and his fellow UKIP MEPs are MORE THAN HAPPY to sit with in the EFD:
Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS)
Controversial Greek politician and leader of LAOS, Georgios Karatzaferis, was a member and vice-president of the Ind Dem group, forerunner of the EFD, in the European Parliament (2004-2007). He appears to retain not only party, but also personal links to his former colleagues. In May 2010, a delegation of EFD members and staff visited Athens, where they met with Karatzaferis and others. (24)In 2000, Karatzaferis claimed that the Protocols of Zion were being put into effect and that “the Pope and the Jews are conspiring against Greece”. (25)
Also in 2000,
“The New World Order means that we are a puppet at the hands of the Jews… The Global government has taken place in Europe. The common currency too! They are dancing it to their tune. Do you know what kind of money the Jews are profiteering with these ups and downs? We are being led to the fulfillment of targets set 200 years ago.” (ibid)In 2001, the rhetoric became more menacing: “The Jews have no right to provoke, because they have filled the world with crimes”. “The Jews have no legitimacy to speak in Greece and provoke the political world. Their impudence is crass”. He also challenged the Israeli ambassador to come and debate “the Holocaust, the Auschwitz and Dachau myth”. Karatzaferis finished by asking “Mister Jew ambassador” to “be a bit careful” and warning “the Jews” that if Greek Jews continue their “insolent behaviour” (as in their response to Karatzaferis’s earlier claims that “the Jews” were responsible for 9/11) they were “not going to have a pleasant time.” (26) The US State Department, in its Annual Report on Religious Freedoms in 2005, singled out LAOS, and its leader (and then MEP) Giorgos Karatzaferis, for promoting
“radical nationalism, anti-Semitism, racism, and xenophobia”.
LAOS has two representatives in the EFD group, Niki Tzaveli (vice-chair of the group), and Nikolaos Salavrakos, a former legal adviser to LAOS. In fact, for the purposes of representation in the European Parliament, the party is styled Laikos Orthodoxos Synagermos – G. Karatzaferis.Adonis Georgiadis, a LAOS Member of the Greek Parliament, has attracted criticism for his literary activities. A writer and publisher, he has been accused of promoting a book, Jews: the whole truth, by Konstantinos Plevris, himself a former LAOS member, which describes Jews as “subhuman” (p.582). Plevris is critical of the Nazi regime for
“not ridding Europe of Jewish Zionism”, and states that Jews should be “rounded-up and executed within 24 hours” (p.742). Plevris, who describes himself in his book as a “Nazi” (p.600) also claims that former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan is a “descendant of cannibals”.

Borghezio has multiple convictions for racially motivated violence, including an attack on a 12 year old child in 1991. In April 2000, during a regional election campaign, Lega Nord members chanted Borghezio’s controversial “Prayer of the Gypsy”, with its reference to the gassing of “nomads”. He has also been filmed more recently explaining to a group of young fascists the need to infiltrate “mainstream” political organisations.
Borghezio has been linked with the neo-Nazi terrorist group “New Order”. However, in a recent interview with Italian journalist Claudio Sabelli Fioretti, Borghezio admitted to his involvement with the Belgian Nazi Jean Thiriart, the founder of Young Europe, a group that espoused a united Europe “from Vladivostok to Dublin”, organised in accordance with National Socialist principles.
“Lo stavo in un movimento rivale di Ordine Nuovo. Si chiamava Giovane Europa. Il leader era Jean Thiriart” he stated. This translates as: “I was in a rival movement of New Order. It was called Young Europe. The leader was Jean Thiriart”.
Thiriart, a Belgian Nazi, was imprisoned after WW2 for his wartime activities, which included hunting down and killing resistance workers in occupied Europe. Thiriart trained under SS Lt Col Otto “Scarface” Skorzeny, and maintained strong links with him after his release from prison. In fact, Skorzeny has been revealed to have had partial control over Young Europe at the time when Borghezio was a member.
Skorzeny was involved initially in Operation Werwolf, the Nazi resistance movement, and then subsequently in neo-Nazi terrorist groups across Europe. Evidence has emerged showing that Young Europe operated a number of paramilitary training camps, and that it was on the instructions of Skorzeny in the 1960s that these camps were closed down.
Associates of Thiriart were involved in an attempted Nazi coup in Belgium in 1973, and papers obtained this summer from Belgian police have helped researchers to prove ongoing links between a number of activists.
Given Borghezio’s open support for fascism, and his record of racially motivated violence – his last arrest was as recently as 2007 – it is no wonder that he has started to attract the interests of prominent anti-fascists across the EU.
Slovak National PartyThe Slovak National Party – members of UKIP’s EFD Group – reacted rather badly to their massive defeat in the recent Slovakian national elections. Sadly for them, they will no-longer be able to prop up Smer – their coalition partner – in government. It is interesting to note that Smer is an offshoot of the old communist party.
Jan Slota – leader of the SNS – had this to say about their defeat:
“Homosexuals and Hungarians will begin to rule in this state, so thank you very much.”
Mr Slota has described Slovak’s Hungarian minority as a “a tumour on the body of the Slovak nation”.
He also famously said that “in 1248 a Frankish bishop was amazed after visiting the Carpathian basin that God could have given such a beautiful country to such ugly people. He was referring to the old Hungarians, who were Mongoloid types with crooked legs and even more disgusting horses. Somehow these people have vanished. Who civilized them? Probably us, the Slovaks”.
Mr Slota has gone on record as saying that the best way to treat gypsies is with a “long whip in a small yard”. He even once threatened to “sit in our tanks and destroy Budapest”.
What a charming man!Slota has called the fascist leader Jozef Tiso “one of the greatest sons of the Slovak nation”. On February 17, 2000, 40 of the 41 city council members in Žilina, where Slota is mayor, voted to dedicate a plaque honouring Tiso.
Tiso was a friend and ally of Adolf Hitler. Hitler even went as far to praise Tiso’s anti-Jewish policies during a meeting with the Slovak leader in April, 1942.
So will Farage disown Slota for his comments. Will he condemn the SNS for their racism and bigotry? Fat chance! Being in control of a group and a larger budget means more to Farage than silly little things like principles, decency and integrity.
True Finns
Timo Soini, leader of the Finnish Perussuomalaiset (True Finns) Party, and rather oddly a keen supporter of Millwall F.C, should add a little spice to Farage’s group. He wants to restrict entry to Finland for foreigners, and calls for legislation to force those already there to integrate. Describing itself as “populist”, the True Finns has its roots in agrarian politics, is anti-capitalist, believing that entrepreneurship hampers bureaucracy. The party attracts a great deal of support from those who would have previously voted for the SDP or the Left Alliance. Its mix of “back to the soil” agrarianism, populism, and militaristic nationalism has led many observers to categorise the party as National Socialist. Indeed, in keeping with Nazi tradition, Soini was a corporal in the army.
In April 2009, all the leaders of Finland’s political parties signed a declaration condemning racism. Only Soini refused to sign. The party also believes homosexuality to be an “aberration”. Finnish celebrity Teuvo Loman complained to police about a Facebook site, called “Lets beat Teuvo Straight”, set up by a True Finns candidate for Urjala municipal council elections. The site allegedly promoted violence against Loman.
In December 2006, True Finn councillor Jussi Halla-aho caused a controversy when he published the following comments as part of a discussion about immigrants and rape: “The number of rapes will increase in any case. Therefore, as more and more women will undoubtedly get raped, I sincerely hope that at least the right women, the green-leftist reformers and their voters, will find themselves in the clutches of the rapists, who randomly select their victims. Rather them than anyone else. With people like that nothing else works, except when their own multiculturalist views turn against them.” Halla-aho, who describes asylum seekers as “parasites” , has been charged with hate crimes.
Another interesting True Finn politician, is the former wrestler and parliamentarian Tony “the Viking” Halme. In 2004, he received a four-month suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay fines totalling 80 income-linked “day-fines” – amounting to EUR 4,480 – for criminal offences that were uncovered in connection with a drunken firearms violation episode in the summer of 2003.
Other charges brought against Halme included behaviour likely to cause danger, smuggling, possession of imported goods knowing them to be illegal, and drug use. The latter is ironic, as he has called for drug offenders to be sent to Russian prisons, where they can be dealt with in a more cost effective manner. The day after he was elected to parliament he caused a stir by attacking President Tarja Halonen as a “Lesbian”. (Halonen had been a champion for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans-Gender rights in her country). In 2006 Halme was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. In that same year he was involuntarily committed to a mental hospital.
The True Finns will sit well with the populist Lega Nord, the Italian party expelled from the Independence & Democracy Group by Farage following allegations of racist behaviour. That party is partly defined by its homophobia.
More on the Lega Nord
Giancarlo Gentilini, Lega Nord’s deputy mayor of Treviso called in 2007 for the “ethnic cleansing” of homosexuals.” I will immediately give orders to my forces so that they can carry out an ethnic cleansing of faggots,” he told a local television station. “The faggots must go to other cities where they are welcome. Here in Treviso there is no chance for faggots or the like.”
In the same year he taunted Pecoraro Scanio, Italy’s Minister of the Environment and an open bisexual, by saying: “In Gorgo, a woman was raped with a chisel in the back and in the front. I say to Pecoraro Scanio that I want the same thing happens to his mother and his sister.”
Pro-Federalist Lega Nord – the party’s constitution says that the party will end its political activity when federalism is obtained – are no strangers to racially motivated violence: indeed, MEP Mario Borghezio was fined in 1993 for beating a 12 year old Moroccan child. In 2005, whilst sitting as an MEP, he was found guilty of setting fire to the belongings of immigrants under a railway bridge in Turin, during a vigilante raid. In September 2007 he was arrested by Belgian police for his part in an anti-Islamic demonstration. The former leader of Lega Nord, Umberto Bossi, an MEP in the last parliament, was convicted of incitement to violence in 1998. He received a one-year suspended prison sentence. He had previously received a conviction for taking a 200 million bribe. In 2003 he described Africans as “Bingo-Bongos”, and suggested that the Italian navy should open fire on boats carrying refugees.
Notorious holocaust denier Father Floriano Abrahamowicz is considered to be the “unofficial Chaplain” of Lega Nord. He told an Italian newspaper: “I know the gas chambers existed… but I don’t know if anyone was killed in them. I know that, in addition to the official version, there is another version…” He has also been a vocal supporter of Erich Priebke, the German SS officer convicted of war crimes for a 1944 massacre in Rome, extradited to Italy from Argentina and currently living under house arrest.
The Lega has its own militant faction, the so-called Green shirts.
Morten Messerschmidt: Heil Hitler, & some embarrassing songs.
The Danish People’s Party (DPP), rejected by the British Conservatives, has been condemned by the Paris based European Jewish Congress for its approach to the question of immigration. It has also been accused of Islamophobia.
Morten Messerchmidt is one of the DPP’s new MEPs. In 2002 he was sentenced to prison for racially motivated offences. In April 2007 he was reported to have been drunk in a restaurant in Copenhagen, and was seen “Heiling Hitler”. Messerchmidt subsequently admitted singing Nazi songs at the restaurant. The incident caused him to temporarily resign from his position in the government.
Messerchmidt is a former assistant to Mogens Camre MEP, himself reported to the police for possible violations of anti-racism legislation in 2007.
And Farage has the nerve to condemn the BNP and the English Democrats! And what about the odious Nuttall? He refused to share a platform with the BNP’s candidate in Oldham. He even refused to take part in a debate with him in a recent edition of the Sunday Politics Show. And yet Nuttall is quite happy to sit with fascists in EFD! Another first class hypocrite!
And do you remember a blurred photo, taken in the summer of 1997, showing Nigel chatting to two men? One was Tony “the bomber” Lecomber, the other was Mark Deavin, head of research for the BNP. It can be seen above.
When the photo was sent anonymously to UKIP, Farage claimed bafflement. While admitting that “I briefly met Mr Deavin at his request on June 17 1997, and had lunch with him in a restaurant,” he insisted that “I have no recollection of ever meeting or speaking to Mr Lecomber in my life… I can only surmise that Mr Lecomber was planted outside the restaurant or that the photograph has been doctored.” A month after the lunch, by an odd coincidence, Deavin wrote an article in Spearhead which discussed the possibility of closer relations between the BNP and UKIP.
Deavlin had briefly infiltrated UKIP but was expelled by Alan Sked in May 1997 after his true affiliations were discovered.
It is an interesting fact that Farage met Deavin AFTER the BNP man’s expulsion from UKIP. At the time of the photo Farage was also having serious problems with Alan Sked. The relationship between the two had deteriorated to such an extant that Sked had even briefly managed to expel Farage from UKIP!
At the time of the photo Farage was considering his political future and his options.
It seems that every time this incident is mentioned Nigel gives a different version of what exactly happened. At the last count he was on version number 5. How about giving us version number 6?

Italian Member of the European Parliament for the racist Lega Nord party, is not just, as this photo shows, an ally of Dutch xenophobic politician Geert Wilders.
From daily The Times in South Africa:
26th July 2011 15:51
An ally of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has triggered a storm of protest after he described as “excellent” some of Norwegian terrorism suspect Anders Behring Breivik ’s ideas.Mario Borghezio, a European Parliament member for the anti-immigration Northern League, said he agreed with Breivik ’s “opposition to Islam and his explicit accusation that Europe has surrendered before putting up a fight against its Islamisation.”Borghezio told the host of talk radio programme La Zanzara that he did not agree with Breivik”s use of violence, nor with the “Protestant” Norwegian”s “anti-Papist” stance. But he said that “some of the ideas (of Breivik”s) are good, in certain cases even excellent.”The Northern League is the junior partner in Berlusconi’s conservative government. The centre-left opposition called for Borghezio to resign from the European Parliament.“It is a matter of shame for all of us that a representative of the ruling coalition made apologetic remarks about one of the cruelest acts of terrorism,” said the Democratic Party”s David Sassoli and the Italy of Values party”s Niccolo Rinaldi, both European parliamentarians.
If terrorist Breivik would not have seen so horribly “Protestant”about the pope, one suspects, Borghezio might have called Breivik’s mass killing of Social Democratic children, after all nothing but “cultural Marxist” traitors to White Europe in the twisted Rightist world view of both Breivik and Borghezio, “excellent” as well.
UKIP’s more dishonest members are quite willing to be shackled to the likes of these scum for money – To quote a much over used phrase from Nigel Farage ‘You couldn’t put a cigarette paper between them’.
Yet we see UKIP’s own scum lined up advocating membership of Pan EU Political Parties to assist The EU undermine National Political Parties and forward The EU agenda of centralisation and governance by unelected bureaucrats and apparatchiks – Aware that the leadership of UKIP could be bought with bribes one starts to realise it has been – just think of The EFD and the utterly corrupt betrayal of UKIP by the vile rump of UKIP leadership and its parasites that can seek to justify their sordid behaviour – seemingly in return for their comfort zone on the EU Gravy Train.

Just how far into the gutter will this sordid liar drag UKIP?
.
one has to wonder if some crass and amateur little liar like Annabelle Fuller had intended to post this on You Tube in Morrocco and was pipped to the post by someone who has complete contempt for UKIP, morality, fundamental honesty and any concepts of ethics – Just to damage UKIP.

one has to wonder whose ‘e’Mails are the more damaging to the cause they ‘claim’ to espouse.
I would submit that Steve Allisons are the more consequential as they are so clearly anti UKIP’s best interests.
So let us see what they have to say for themselves:
Firstly I would contend that Alan Hardy’s comments were far from wise when he stated:
Subject: | UKIP’S APPEAL |
---|---|
Date: | Fri, 22 Jul 2011 14:23:22 +0100 |
From: | alan hardy |
To: | Gordon Parkin , Jonathan Arnott , lisa duffy , , Malcolm Goyns , Nigel Farage , Stephen Allison |
Dear Sirs,
Courtesy of the Court of Appeal: those within UKIP who feel so inclined CANNOT do as they please, they are bound by the law as are the rest of society. And I may add that UKIP faces further legal action unless the decision not to allow former members of the BNP to stand as candidates for the party, as well as for internal posts, is reversed. Indeed I would like to see written evidence that it even exists.
Take note all of you, especially Mr. Farage.
ALAN HARDY
successful litigant.
Clearly one can empathise with Alan Hardy and just as Nigel Farage must have realised he had exposed UKIP to a hiding for nothing and a bill in the region of £30-50K. That Farage left hurriedly from The Appeal Courts in The Strand it ill becomes Alan Hardy to crow over so obvious a victory.
Perhaps Farage would have served the party better had he read the original judgement which I have posted in full – see The Right Sidebar & click on Alan Hardy etc.
You will note the judgement draws attention to the fact that The BNP issue was clearly no more than a fig leaf etc.
To seek to uphold the fundamentals of basic law is now branded by some of UKIP’s enemies as being ‘anti UKIP’.
Surely no one would deny UKIP the right to enact into their Constitution, Rules or Manifesto the resolution to prevent past members of The BNP from joining UKIP, on some grounds or other but clearly not on the grounds of Racism, anti Judaism, anti homosexuality or opposition to immigrants as UKIP’s parners in The EU The EFD are not only pro EU membership but have advocated killing Immigrants from North Africa, are avowedly Racist espousing segregation on public transport etc., anti Homosexual advocating dressing them as rabbits and shooting them and include Holocaust Deniers.
That UKIP welcomes membership of such a group yet seeks to ban ex members of The BNP from joining makes their claimed ruling look a little foolish and more a petty rivalry than a point of principle sadly.
That UKIP has a track record of involvement with The BNP members and before them The National Front is indisputable. It is also worth reminding people of UKIP’s own extremist past with the vetting of members by the criminal Gerry Gable via the equally dishonest Mark Croucher and false accusations of membership and association with The BNP.
That Alan Hardy sent his ‘e’Mail makes it look as if he is fronting efforts at bringing in BNP members which I doubt he would be so foolish as to espouse but we may well find his ‘e’Mail is little more than a venting of his anger at the dishonesty of UKIP as he has, I am given to understand, written confirmation from Nigel Farage that he had informed UKIP of his past membership of The BNP and Farage accepted him as a UKIP member specifically.
I still contend Alan Hardy’s ‘e’Mail was unwise whether he wishes to drift out of UKIP seeing them as a spent force or continue his active membership. He has also undermined his own credibility should he be serious in his bluster about further legal action.
I would contend Alan Hardy has harmed his own position but done little harm to UKIP save in costs, which are a mere bagatelle relative to the £Millions Farage has personally made from his position in UKIP.
Let us see if you think Steve Allison’s comments are any more professional or are they effectively anti UKIP in the manner that they damage the party and its credibility since he speaks as an executive of the party, unlike Alan Hardy who is merely an ex member of The BNP who is in dispute with UKIP over his membership status!

You may have heard that UKIP lost its appeal in court today against the re-admittance to membership of a Mr.Alan Hardy. This is being spun by certain anti-UKIP Blogs and Websites as a defeat for UKIP and touted an example of how Nigel has been wasting UKIP’s money on personal legal vendettas.
I do not think anyone who knows me would accuse me of being a Nigel Sycophant or someone who believes Nigel can do no wrong, However, in this case I am definitely 100% behind Nigel. Alan Hardy is a former member of the BNP and his case is AT THE MOMENT limited to him. However, I believe that he is being used as a Trojan Horse to force UKIP to accept BNP Members into out ranks and worse. I copy below an e-mail that Hardy sent after the Appeal Court Ruling.
UKIP has to fight this man to the bitter end! We have all worked too hard to destroy the myth that UKIP and the BNP are in any way alike, we must keep out the BNP, this is a fight we cannot afford to lose.
Steve Allison
Let us consider this in some detail:
You may have heard that UKIP lost its appeal in court today against the re-admittance to membership of a Mr.Alan Hardy.
The Court’s ruled that Alan Hardy could not be barred from the party on the grounds given in the light of the facts – may I suggest that those who have UKIP’s long term wellbeing at heart and genuinely support UKIP take the trouble to read the judgement and it becomes clear why The Courts not only found in favour of Alan Hardy but that the original judgement was upheld by The Appeal Courts in The Strand.
This is being spun by certain anti-UKIP Blogs and Websites as a defeat for UKIP and touted an example of how Nigel has been wasting UKIP’s money on personal legal vendettas.
How else could any honest individual see this? I can not speak for anti UKIP blogs as i rarely read them and then only by accident – sadly the blogs UKIP controls do more than enough damage to UKIP!
Clearly no one is likely to take UKIP seriously as a part of the law making process when it is so clearly in abuse of the law itself and something of a vexatious litigant!
Those who actively seek to support UKIP seek to clean-up the party not provide costly cover for its dishonest executive!
I do not think anyone who knows me would accuse me of being a Nigel Sycophant or someone who believes Nigel can do no wrong,
Perhaps you could show where Steve Allison has intentionally spoken out to clean-up UKIP and make it electable other than in his personal interest!
However, in this case I am definitely 100% behind Nigel.
Steve Allison pretends to balance yet promptly defends Nigel Farage’s ineptitude thereby showing a clear lack of judgement on his own part.
Alan Hardy is a former member of the BNP and his case is AT THE MOMENT limited to him.
Indeed it is and also to the irrefutable fact that UKIP leadership was aware of his past BNP affiliations and actively promoted or at least condoned his membership granting him not only membership of UKIP but as I recall a branch membership status!
However, I believe that he is being used as a Trojan Horse to force UKIP to accept BNP Members into out ranks and worse.
Were that the case do not forget it was Nigel Farage who threw open the gates of Troy and on precedent alone made the entry of The Trojan Horse possible to mix our poets it may be apposite to some to see the engineer hoist on his own petard but I as a supporter of UKIP over many years would like Laocoön caution as so aptly did Virgil with his notable line “Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes”
I copy below an e-mail that Hardy sent after the Appeal Court Ruling.
As per the mailing I received previously and have posted above.
UKIP has to fight this man to the bitter end!
A wise General selects his ground and also his time for battle where an inept fool charges in and looses as have UKIP – Indeed the end will be bitter. You may yet find that in making much of this issue UKIP may yet throw open the gates and stand bereft of clothing for a battle – however aware of the ineptitude of Alan Hardy’s message were it I seeking the well being of UKIP I would act with good grace and grant his membership as the Courts have legally shown in HIS CASE there were no legal grounds used in his removal.
Thereby no precedent will be set and the Trojan Horse can stand at the side of the road to the castle until it is shown to be of no use in smuggling the troops of the claimed enemy into the camp.
We have all worked too hard to destroy the myth that UKIP and the BNP are in any way alike, we must keep out the BNP, this is a fight we cannot afford to lose.
This of course is no more than self serving spin and clearly twaddle when you consider UKIP’s fellowship with ex NF members and the use it has made of ex BNP members – that it is clearly twaddle is shown by UKIP’s associates in The EU – merely BNP with funny accents!!
Steve Allison
Were it I seeking to serve UKIP I would not be wasting members’ money nor undermining UKIP’s credibility but as a long term supporter I would be considering the long term and to that end I would call an immediate NEC meeting. I would enact a rule empowering a sub committee of people seen as honest and of probity from within UKIP which would by deffinition preclude members of The NEC and leadership claque and I would empower them to review every member, starting from the top and reserve the right to refund the membership of any member who fulfilled certaimn criteria in terms of past memberships and Criminal Records.
One would have to take care as to how this was worded as it could well preclude individuals like Derek clark, Nigel Farage, Jeffrey Titford, Graham Booth and the like from membership as they have all fallen foul of the law I understand and have had to repay monies they fraudulently obtained or dishonestly used. I understand we are yet to hear the outcome of the case against Stuart Agnew and that against David Bannerman though I gather Mike Nattrass has withdrawn his claim against The Sunday Times and they are to publish an update that subsequent to their earlier article OLAF have decided to take no further action against Mike Nattrass.
In the matter of cleaning up UKIP the party would be well served were it to put before the committee as constituted such individuals as Annabelle Fuller, Mick McGough, Douglas Denny, Andrew Smith, Hugh Williams and others who through their fantasies and dishonesty have corrupted UKIP and demeaned its reputation as a credible political force.
I wonder what the anti UKIP bloggers that Steve Allison seems to follow will make of dealing with the truth and on what leg they would seek to stand if UKIP were cleaned-up and presented a credible professional stance with vision, strategy, tactics a plan – training and a structure that would make them presentable to the informed electorate and encourage activists to rejoin with probity and transparency.
Until that time UKIP defames itself daily on its own controlled blogs such that one wonders what an anti UKIP blog would find to write about – though Steve Alison has made a pretty fair fist of showing us by example.
As a supporter I am all too well aware that unless UKIP makes these moves towards professionalising they are increasingly a part of the problem when it comes to leaving The EU and have no place in the solution.

another good article addressing the more serious aspects of The EU and its obvious failure.
It is patently obvious that The EU’s unelected leadership to dupe everyone into believing it is actually achieving something of value is in fact merely squandering a huge amount of OUR money extorted via taxation and buying a sordid form of Virtual Reality apparent growth which is being passed off as an achievement.
Clearly this is not an achievement of any value whatsoever it is just a con extending the area over which it is failing, to give a semblance of achievement, whilst bribing the politicians of adjoining areas with our money to justify their actions!
Tuesday 19 July 2011
Nikki Sinclaire MEP argues that the pre-accession costs of Turkey, Croatia and Serbia means that EU is simply giving billions away in the hope of buying friendship and stability.
“There are certain factions amongst the EU political elite that are unlikely ever to accept Turkish accession. Whilst there certainly are social and economic matters that are problematic, the same could be said of any of the recent new member states.
In his 2004 report urging early accession of Bulgaria, which failed to meet certain criteria, Conservative MEP Geoffrey Van Orden seemed to suggest that the interests of the EU were best served by a prompt accession, and that the problems might therefore be overlooked.
So why is Turkey different? Of course, there is the matter of the Turkish occupation of Northern Cyprus, but Turkey would not be the only state to join the EU with unresolved border issues – Croatia has long standing disputes with Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro and yet that country is set for accession in July 2013. So are there other issues?
Personally, I don’t want to see any further expansion of the EU, but I don’t like to see racism being hidden behind so-called economic or social arguments. Turkey is a rising power, and its exclusion from the EU has led it to emerge as one of three main poles of power in Europe, the other two being Russia and the EU.
It is actually a sign of the EU’s impotence in foreign affairs that a bloc of 27 nations is unable to dominate its own political space. We now live not only in a multi-polar world, but in a multi-polar Europe. As a result of Turkey’s increasing importance in its own right, support amongst the Turkish population for EU membership has almost halved to just 38%. €4.33 billion, a huge amount of money, has been spent by the EU on Turkey’s pre-accession preparations. To exactly what end is this being spent? Will Turkey ever join the EU?
In 2007, Nicolas Sarkozy stated that “Enlarging Europe with no limit risks destroying European political union, and that I do not accept…I want to say that Europe must give itself borders, that not all countries have a vocation to become members of Europe, beginning with Turkey which has no place inside the European Union.”
Is Sarkozy really opposed to EU expansion as his words seem to suggest, or is he just opposed to Turkey?
Given its geopolitically strategic position, Turkey would be well advised to lean east, which it will probably do as soon as the EU stops giving it handouts. This would weaken the EU’s already vulnerable position regarding security of energy supply, and would greatly increase Russian domination in this area.
Croatia emerged from its post-conflict mode in 2000, the vital tourist sector is booming, and its institutions and civil society are being rebuilt, which explains the relatively modest sum of €748 million being spent on pre-accession arrangements over 4 years. However, Croatia is recovering on its own, and looks to be the success story of its region. Ironically, whilst Croatia recovers, economic problems within the Eurozone have caused public support for EU accession to wane.
Accession negotiations with Serbia have yet to be opened, but the country is in receipt of considerable EU largesse; €1.9 billion, to be precise. Serbia has a larger population than Croatia – 7.3 million – a figure which includes the highest refugee population in Europe. The Serbian economy is also performing well; indeed growth has at times been fractionally higher than that of Croatia. There remain problems over Serbia’s relationship with Kosovo, but President Barosso has declared that the failure of Belgrade to recognise Kosovo is not a barrier to EU accession. Russia has been heavily investing in Serbia’s energy infrastructure – demand for energy is growing in Serbia.Cynics might say that Russia is spending its money wisely, and will receive good dividends, both politically and economically, on its investment. The EU, on the other hand, is simply giving billions away in the hope of buying friendship and stability.”
