This article about Douglas Carswell’s profligacy with other peoples’ money does at least show just how well he will fit in with UKip and their unaccountable, corrupt and often criminal abuse of public money.

The MP for Harwich said on Tuesday that the money had been well spent because his wife had recently given birth.

Mr Carswell, who has made his name as an anti-sleaze campaigner, made the claim after switching the designation of his second home to a property in his constituency, having claimed thousands of pounds for a London flat.

He initially designated the £1 million flat in south west London as his second home after being elected in 2005. He claimed more than £21,000 for a deposit, rent, food and furniture over 15 months.

The MP then began renting a £335,000 house in Thorpe Le Soken, Essex, in March 2007, and designated this as his second home. He again paid for the security deposit from his expenses.

He then used his allowances to pay for furniture, including the £655 “Maximus” love seat in deep moss brushed cotton, with extra fabric protection from sofa.com. Mr Carswell lives at the house with his wife, Clementine.

He said: “I bought the love seat and bed when moving into the home with my future wife. We have since got married and have had our first baby.”

Since the couple moved in, Mr Carswell has claimed a total of £32,000 in expenses related to the house.

He also owns a property in Hertfordshire, which he rents out. Mrs Carswell sold her flat in south-west London for £500,000 last year.

The MP bills taxpayers for the entire rent of £1,250 per month and £2,280 annual council tax bills for the Essex house.

Since moving in, he has also claimed £1,605 for two sofas and £1,483 for a bed, mattress and chairs from ILVA.

He spent a further £700 for bedding and household extras at Peter Jones and The White Company.

Mr Carswell also claimed £453 for a fridge freezer, £400 for a washing machine, £99 for a garden strimmer and bin, and £377 for a radio, telephone, vacuum cleaner, iron and television.

In November 2007, he claimed £429 for four days’ worth of gardening.

He also claimed for a range of items bought at Tesco, including a 74p washing line.

Mr Carswell rose to prominence in April last year when he became the first MP to publicly call for Mr Martin to resign over his decision to instigate a legal challenge to keep the details of MPs’ expenses secret.

He criticised the Speaker for his handling of the row over MPs’ expenses and for his failure to restore the integrity of Parliament. “Never has there been such bitter contempt for politicians or the standing of MPs been so low,” he wrote at the time.

“We need to clean up Westminster politics and take action to restore faith in our political system.” Mr Carswell, who worked as an adviser to David Cameron in the run-up to the 2005 election, last month tabled a no-confidence motion against Mr Martin.

Although the motion was not debated, it was widely credited with having helped prompt the Speaker’s decision to resign later this month.

Last night Mr Carswell told The Daily Telegraph: “I have never used public money to pay a private mortgage. I have instead rented.

“It is true that I bought an armchair, sofa and some bedding, as well as a few other modest items of crockery and furniture. I believe this is entirely justified.”

“Before making every claim, I have asked myself not only ‘is it within the rules’, but ‘can I justify this to my local constituents’. In every instance I believe I can,” he said.

So it seems there was no room at the Inn for the Tory Conference for the self proclaimed Messiah of the Tory Back Bench EUSceptics!
Well I guess by defecting Douglas Carsdale will have the advantage that his expenses will fall in line with UKip’s and be largely unaccountable. He will not only be assured of a room at the main UKip conference Hotel and be made to feel important but may even be able to follow in Farage’s footsteps and open an Isle of Man account to help his tax position though whether he will be able to emulate Farage and deposit £1/4Million in it will depend what share of his wife’s flat he was able to obtain, he will at least be able to have his wife employed by one of the other UKip functionaries I expect.
Though one can respect Carswell, having had his little temper tantrum and inviting Farage to his Press Conference, for having offered his resignation from the Tories for his last 8 months as a Tory MP though whether the tax payers consider the basic cost of around £1/4Million for a by-election good value for money is another point!
We hear that Stuart Wheeler, as a sponsor of UKip, had wined and dined Carswell and a few other potential defectors, as he saw them, doubtless he proffered their election expenses as a douceur for those willing to betray the Tories as he had done.
Although proclaimed by his fan club as a man of principles it does seem that principally this man seeks his own rewards.
It seems all too likely that the by-election will fall for Nigel Farage and no doubt he wishes he could have a by election in Thanet as by elections are so much easier for the opposition or even extremist fringe to win as they are always seen as a means to register a protest vote without being taken too seriously as Janet Akinson so ably displayed in the EUropean electoral farce:
ATKINSON, Janice 02as she and a host of other electoral nonentities and ner do wells were elected.
Whether Douglas Carswell stands a chance of hanging onto his seat at a General Election is another matter, as the electorate tend not to value a self serving drama queen when the chips are down in a real election – as we have seen so consistently with the collapse of the UKip vote whenever a General Election comes around.
There will also be those angered by his behaviour in risking the chances of a referendum, which he so praised David Cameron for although he himself failed to make any effort to gain one neither campaigning for it nor signing the petition which brought it about – as with Nigel Farage who did all his advocacy of a petition AFTER Nikki Sinclaire had handed in the petition she had raised of 220,000 signatures thereby gaining a full debate on the issue in the House of Commons! Farage had in fact done all he could to sabotage the petition thus helping Cameron to ensure Britain remained in the EU!

Hi,

this style is so very much more convincing than the showy, flashy stridency of UKIP’s ONLY recognised performer:

Dan Hannan would seem to be as driven by self interest and money as are so many politicians, just as is so very clearly the motivation of the UKIP clique and its claque – there is just a greater level of gravitas, wider interest and clearly a far greater level of research and education in the Hannan camp than in UKIP.

It is a pity that Dan Hannan’s self serving behaviour and self enriching combination of jobs is so very out of step with his own party who seem so utterly corrupted by their ambitions for power and their devotion to The EU that they would seem to have far more in common with UKIP & its leadership than with Dan Hannan who in mild mannered tones and informed debate clearly persues his own agenda for as long as he – like Farage – can be seen to be his own master and call his own shots and to hell with the mere members and the electorate whom neither seem to address or inform!

I found this interesting:

A UKIP Regional Organiser Peter Reeve who cohabits with a UKIP NEC member a paid employee of the party and when both Peter Reeve & Lisa Duffy BOTH used UKIP to be elected as local councillors – just as David (The Desk) Bannerman sold out the Tory Party and used UKIP to get himself elected it seems just like the duplicitous and untrustworthy David Bannerman Peter Reeve is also playing a double game.

You will note on the Tory EU site Peter Reeve is still on the payroll of David Bannerman working for the Tory Party – or perhaps leaking UKIP information to them or even perhaps employed because he knows enough about the corruption and dishonesty of David Bannerman that he could ‘bury’ him politically.

Don’t forget David Bannerman – a proven liar who claims to be related to a long dead Prime Minister who he has ZERO blood relationship with and who betrayed the Tory Party to get elected and has now betrayed the electorate for his own gain is currently under investigation by OLAF – The EU Fraud investigation organisation for his abuse of the public purse as shown by The Sunday Times and admitted to by his co-conspirator and co-defendent Stuart Agnew MEP – a representative of The NFU:

You will note the comment of Stuart Agnew which is an outright confession of criminality and fraud against the public purse!:

“I can tell you that Peter is paid partly by me out of my assistance allowance here partly by David Bannerman . He does very little work for us, virtually none. He is working for the party. And that’s strictly illegal.”

I understand that not only has David Bannerman lied about his claimed ancestor but has betrayed The Tories, UKIP and the electorate! It seems that David Bannerman lied by omission in his application to betray UKIP and join the Tories.

It seems Peter Reeve is acting very similarly but sadly UKIP has consistently attracted the corrupt, the dishonest and the unethical to its leadership and their parasites!

Hi,

it seems that with UKIP’s abject failure at the polls on any domestic matter on an ongoing basis it is singularly unlikely they will ever be more than a domestic nuisance party – mainly as a result of the lack of OQ and leadership qualities of those in its so called leadership team.

UKIP rank and file are in the main a fairly decent crowd of mostly patriots but the overt racism, anti Judaism and violent fear of homosexuals amongst its leadership and particularly their Pan EU Political Party EFD Group which is extreme by ANY civilised or ethical terms.

These allegiances and the unpleasant and dishonest antics and distortions by its spokesmen, on the internet and elsewhere, leaves such a bad taste in the mouth that the peoples of these United Kingdoms repeatedly reject them in domestic elections though willingly use them as a dustbin for their protest votes in EU elections where they are clearly seen as an irrelevancy.

Tjhey have become something of a last resting place for turncoats and charlatans seeking to prolong or enhance their income having fallen out with those who elected them – an infill between pantomime and publication I guess.

The endless squabbling and utter unprofessionalism of the party and the rank corruption and duplicity of its leadership team and its parasites – In reality would YOU wish to be associated with many of the low lifes and self serving creeps in and amongst UKIP’s upper echelons? Many are so vile they dare not even publish their lies, distortions and bile in their own names!

You may find the following comments from Conservative Home Blog of interest, though I do not for a moment agree its conclusion as The Tories offer no earthy hope of EUroScepticism coming to be meaningful and not one iota of EUroRealism will ever be given credence – there are just too many corrupt Tory politicians feeding with their snouts in The EU troughs on the gravy train and viewing it as a sinecure when they fail in domestic politics.

Conservative councillor defects to UKIP

Cllr David Potts, a councillor on South Tyneside, has defected from the Conservatives to UKIP.
He says:

“The Conservative Party is no longer the party I once loved. Modern Tories have sold our country down the river, and seem obsessed with being entirely consumed, both socially and economically, by the
European machine.

“I believe David Cameron is a spineless prime minister, and I deeply regret having supported his bid for the party leadership.

“UKIP is the only party talking sense. I know that I can do more as a UKIP politician than I ever could as a Conservative.”

“Nigel Farage MEP, the UKIP leader, has consistently and correctly predicted the economic Armageddon that we face in Europe at the moment. This was not an easy decision to make. I had been a Tory Party member since the age of 14.

The problem is that Cllr Potts thus makes it harder to achieve an overall Conservative majority and thus a more Eurosceptic Government.

Interestingly it would seem this Tory turncoat lives with his girlfriend Laura in Hertfordshire when his work as a professional gambler specialising in betting on EU currencies it would apear. He is in fact 29 and was first elected when 21 as a Councillor, elected as a Tory in Tyneside!

One well remembers the screeching and ranting of UKIP when turncoats like Craig MacKinley, Petrina Holdsworth, John West and Robin Page having seen through the sham and corruption that is UKIP and David Bannerman (whilst under investigation by OLAF having used UKIP to get elected returned to the Tories) and the like defected to other parties and one notes UKIP leadership’s dishonesty and abuse of those who dare to point out their own dishonesty, hypocrisy and corruption – Yet it seems those who try to prolong their political positions by abandoning their own electorate are welcome with open arms.

Some might see this as rank hypocrisy! Hypocrisy or not there is little doubt it is ‘rank’, but the election results of UKIP in domestic politics show that the public are well aware of how odious its leadership and parasites are having out of the 19,500 available elected offices elected UKIP to hold less than 30!

Tragic really when the patriotic public are so clearly calling out for an honourable, ethical standard in politics to lead these United Kingdoms out of The EU and even the Tory voters want a referendum where 66% would vote to leave against a National 30% who would vote to stay in the EU.

A measure of the untrustworthy duplicity of the Tories was shown by the vote AGAINST their electorate in the House of Commons debate on a referendum which Nikki Sinclaire and her team obtained!

Clearly you can’t trust either The Tories or UKIP leadership and their parasites when it comes to The EU and their respective incomes!

here is an interesting message regarding the You Gov Poll commissioned by The Independent MEP Nikki Sinclaire whilst the rest of the MEPs were on holiday and as she presented her Petition for an In/Out EU Referendum having obtained over 100,000 signatures.

Signatures obtained despite the fact of the many Judas Goats urinating on the bushes to try to mark out a territory and save themselves the embarrassment of being shown for indolent self serving, smug, arrogant parasites gorging themselves at the expense of their country with their paid newspaper columns, funded lecture tours and other scams for self enrichment.

I gather the You Gov Poll has been sent to every single Tory MEP who are quite clearly self serving arrogant fools.

NOT ONE was democratically elected they were merely the only choice offered in a corrupt list system.

You may have missed a YouGov poll that I commissioned a few weeks ago that showed for the first time a clear majority of the UK population (52%) wish to leave the EU with only 30% who would vote to stay in.

The question was independently set by YouGov. Please find attached the YouGov report.

As you embark on your parliamentary work you might wish to consider:
The breakdown from Conservative voters.
74% want a referendum
and
66% would vote to leave the EU.

We still await the exact details of achievement towards LEAVING The EU that Roger Helmer claims for all his huff and puff and arrogant, smug self satisfaction.

EXACTLY what has YOUR Total failure cost the tax payers in bribes/salary and expenses for we seem no closer to the exit than when you first opened your EUI accounts and having failed to deliver honestly or competently started to stuff your accounts obtained under false pretences just like your chums elected to Leave-The-EU and minded 66% of ALL Tory voters wish to Leave-The-EU.

It does seem Helmer that you are just another oleaginous and duplicitous Judas Goat.

Indeed as YOU stated:

May I remind you Helmer YOU did not win an election – Your Party did, you are just a cypher.

Do also be minded that 66% of those votes wish to Leave-The-EU in what way would you claim your party/vehicle has acquitted its duty to the electorate?

Is it any wonder that the society has little but contempt for those looters like yourself and other parasitic fat cats drawing down huge amounts of money in return for their abject failure and thus betrayal.

That Giles Chichester‘s Diary Business seems no longer to be subsidised may explain why David Bannerman is making a play for his Tory Seat in The South West having proved himself to be dishonest, corrupt, a liar and utterly useless in his present Region of near invisibility in The East!

This is no STAR coming out of The East just a scrophulous self seeking and utterly discreditted little nebish – Willing to betray any and all including UKIP to get a place in The Tories and when he looses favour there he will no doubt betray them AGAIN!

I presume that this means Farage employs his pro on his allowances and his wife – since his wife seems not to do much for UKIP & his pro has achieved very little for UKIP does this imply they are both paid £30K or does his pro get paid more than his wife?

The other interesting point is that as yet the site seems incomplete as Kirsten Farage is not included and surely on his minimum basic allowances doesn’t ever MEP receive £215K – I can not believe that deducting Kirsten’s £30K leaves Annabelle Fuller and Ray Finch with £185K between them – surely there are more staff or does Farage employ other staff as EFD Group as he diod with Mark Croucher – in fact are either Ray Finch or Annabelle Fuller or even Kirsten also on The EFD Group payroll?

If lobbyists or PR companies such as Athena-PR receive money from ANY department of The EU as I read the rules, surely that precludes a member of their staff even a director from employment by The EU in any separate capacity yet we KNOW that Farage employed Athena-PR to promote and manage his leadership election.

Minded that the aim of UKIP was to expose corruption in The EU this does seem to be at best sailing close to the wind not to mention lacking in transparency!

Looking around the site clearly it is being worked on as from Sinclaire’s site she clearly employs about 8 to 10 staff from her £215K allowance.

This still doesn’t tell us what happens to The 400 Allowance of £76K per MEP in a Group which the leader of the group receives – Though we do believe that Marta Andreasen has forced Farage to give her full control of her share of the budget!

I gather from Geoffrey van Orden that David Bannerman is still trying to jump ship to The Tories but initially demanded a clear run as an MEP at the next election – The reply was NO.

Then DB offered to join them if he was given a safe MP seat – Still NO.

Get the message David they were glad to see you leave the first time – there is NO Job for someone who has even pretended to be anti EU to get a job in Cameron’s pro EU Party.

Politicians have a strong sense of self preservation and no one trusts this liar – it became clear he was dishonest with his lies about his relationship to a desk!

Then he lied to support a corrupt selection process. 
Then the Sunday Times exposed him with Stuart Agnew fiddling their expenses.
This issue is being investigated in detail by OLAF:

We are informed that David Bannerman offered enough info. to destroy UKIP & Farage to be selected by The Tories. This did nothing to help his ambitions it seems, it just showed him for a liar and untrustworthy.

The answer is still NO.

So I am reliably informed.

Marta Andreasen MEP seems to be having much the same problems but at least, from Cameron’s point of view she has not campaigned to leave The EU but merely to change The EU, which is more acceptable to The Tories.
Marta Andreasen however has the same problem with trust and reliability which will in fact preclude The Tories from taking her in as it is well known that she is a liar, a fraud and untrustworthy as shown by her employment record and also The Courts!
 

You may recall how Tim Sebastian rather surprised Marta Andreasen with his research and his challenge of how she had been suspended from her job at The OECD and lost her case against them proved just how Hard ‘Hard Talk’ could be!

This led to the allegations involving racism and also that she had obtained her job with The EU working for Neil Kinnock fraudulently (just as she became an MEP fraudulently by telling lies!).

It is VERY unlikely that The Tories will change their minds having rejected her advances in the past – In real terms lets face it UKIP MEPs have absolutely nothing in terms of credibility, ability or reputation that any Party would welcome; except perhaps The BNP to swell their ranks and of course the faintly idiotic English Dummycrats to TRY to raise their profile.

One wonders with these machinations for how long Jerzy Buzek, as President of The EU mock Parliament, will permit this farce to continue with numbers falling in the vile and extremist Pan EU Political EFD Group with its racist and xenophobic behaviour and anti Jewish and anti homosexual antics – the numbers are laid out and The EFD is falling in size despite its very clearly stated pro EU agenda – surely Buzek must call the failing group to account as letters of resignation or at least very clearly documented material crosses his desk as with the resignation of Nikki Sinclaire MEP, Mike Nattrass MEP & Anna Rosbach MEP.

There are at least 4 others teatering on the brink of acting with integrity and disassociating themselves which would lead to the collapse of this vile pro EU group, one would hope.

Hi,

an interesting summary of the mess created by Farage’s professionalism in his Party – as ever!
 

However I do find fault with the title:

UKIP found guilty of homophobia – because they forgot to defend themselves!

As surely it would be more honest and thus less misleading if it pointed out:

UKIP found guilty of homophobia and did not defend themselves

as clearly the title actually given implies they were not guilty but were found guilty due to their lack of competence and professionalism. Studying the evidence led The Judge found that Ms. Sinclaire had made a ‘well founded’ case. Clearly implying her case was convincing based upon the facts and evidence.


However vigerous UKIP may be after the event does not alter the fact that the case is ‘Well founded’ and is merely yet another act of unprofessional incompetence in throwing good money after bad defending  indefencible behaviour.

Rather embarrassingly for UKIP their pleading would seem to include a disregard and contempt for British Justice and a belief on their part YET AGAIN that The EU provides better law which YET AGAIN they will try to hide behind to flout British Justice.

The hypocracy of Farage’s Party is quite staggering and even now having displayed their incompetence we have their fools and mouth pieces snearing at the Courts and the plaintiff bringing UKIP yet further into disrepute. Just for a moment consider what a ghastly job a Farage Party would make if it was ever responsible for anything of consequence – though UKIP members may seek principled concepts and Farage may be a spokesman for such as a performer it is clear UKIP has no future without a competent leader of some ability rather than a strutting poppinjay bereft of morality, ethics or any Officer Qualities however loudly he may bray!

UKIP found guilty of homophobia – because they forgot to defend themselves!

UKIP LogoIn an act of sheer incompetence today UKIP have been declared guilty-by-default of homophobia after MEP Nikki Sinclaire lodged a complaint against the party and they failed to submit a defence. The openly lesbian MEP claimed she was unfairly expelled from the party after she refused to join its European Parliament grouping, claiming members of the Italian Lega Nord party were “homophobic”.

Nigel Farage and Godfrey Bloom were named as respondents in the judgement, which said that the claim of sexual discrimination was “well founded”.
UKIP blamed their failure to defend themselves on a “simple administrative error”. They have now submitted a request for the judgement to be set aside, and said that Farage and Bloom always intended to defend themselves “vigorously”  and wanted to challenge “every aspect” of Sinclaire’s claims.
The whole episode smacks of incredible incompetence. If UKIP were so determined to defend themselves “vigorously” then how on Earth could they have forgotten the deadline?! Amateurish does not even begin to describe it. If they are to be taken seriously as a party they need to vastly improve themselves and get professional.
The problem may lie in their low membership, giving them a very small pool of talent. You only need to look at the quality of some of their MEPs and past parliamentary candidates to perceive them as a party of eccentrics: people who know what they believe but couldn’t run a bath let alone a country.
Hopefully as more right-wing Tories inevitably defect the talent pool will grow and they will start to produce more serious candidates. Most of the members I’ve met seem solidly Eurosceptic, but some take it to such fanatical extremes that they lose all sense of proportion and end up doing and saying foolish things. Criticising the Queen because she did not veto government legislation over Europe is one such absurd view I’ve heard.
For the moment, despite their high number of MEPs, UKIP remain a party with a few talented individuals, but mainly eccentrics, kooks and anti-EU fanatics. More genuine conservatives should defect over to the party to give it a real appeal and keep down the sorts who miss court deadlines or call the monarch a “German bitch” for not defying centuries of convention and vetoing parliament’s legislation.

Interestingly it will be noted that Nikki Sinclaire actually resigned from The EFD with the full approval of her issue of principle by UKIP’s puppet leader Malcolm Lord Pearson as sjhe had stated clearly her desire not to be assicuiated with Nigel Farage’s Pan EU Political Party Group Ther EFD on the grounds of their extreme racism, xenophobia, Holocaust denial and anti Jewish behaviour as manifest by its leading members.

As I recall no mention of Homophobia was mentioned until some 2 months later when UKIP leadership made much of Nikki Sinclaire’s perversion as a homosexual were claimed to be her reason.

It will be noted that although openly stated to be a homosexual as the perversion is totally legal Sinclaire has always rejected the concept of making capital or status from her homosexuality. Including having refused to be associated with any homosexual grouping within UKIP claiming there should be no such grouping as all members should be treated equally. This is a principle on which she has made a public stance as on the media programme ‘Queer Question Time’ when on the matter of violence against homosexuals should be addressed she rather upset some by saying all violence should be addressed equally with no preference to protect homosexuals.

UKIP’s position is completely untennable as shown by the Judge in his statement that Sinclaire’s claim was ‘well founded’ and clearly it is as membership of The EFD is ultra vires to UKIP’s own constitution yet UKIP claim Sinclaire was dismissed the whip and victimised for refusal to sit with the morally reprehensible EFD of which Farage has chosen to be a member for his party – remember this WAS AGREED as a laudable stance by Pearson!

A further sabotage to UKIP, Farage & Bloom’s wrigglings by way of defence would seem to be the fact that Mike Nattrass MEP likewise refused to sit with The EFD yet he has not been in any way penalised by Farage’s Party leading any right minded individual to seek the difference between Nattrass & Sinclaire under the circumstances and thus it is reasonable to assume Farage orchestrated removal of Sinclaire based unlawfully on prejudice as an homosexual and or as a woman..
