If they put HALF the effort into Leave-The-EU their core message that they put into fiddling and trying to attack their friends and supporters – They just might have achieved SOMETHING!

clearly UKIP are so obsessed with sqabbling internally they haven’t much of a clue what is going on around them – they must be feeling very foolish as I warned of this and proved David Bannerman was a fraud before he even joined UKIP – I published details of his dishonesty and warned again and again subsequently when UKIP’s utterly incompetent leadership showed they lacked the competence to lead or manage.

You may remember it was I who clearly warned that Mark Croucher was a liar and untrustworthy and that Stephen Sobey and probably Annabelle Fuller (Since she knew him AND knew he worked in Tory Central Office) were Tory Plants in UKIP.

Again and again I have provided information long ahead of my publishing it when UKIP were too stupid to check the facts I provided and act on them.

The only defence UKIP has been able to make has been to lie, defame and attack me using their cowardly sock puppets and those with no integrity, honour or reputation worthy of defending like Douglas Denny, Mick McGough, Gawain Towler, Clive Page, Mark Croucher, Paul Nuttall, Derek Clark, Stuart Agnew and the like – filth to the very core!

One wonders now whether, having been shown to be unprincipled, dishonest and corrupt whether UKIP might consider using some of the money they have stolen and trousered to pay the £12.1/2K+ which they owe me and the British Courts who found against them.

I doubt it UKIP has shown contempt for British values, British Justice and any concept of honour or duty.

Burned at the steak

MEP David Campbell-Bannerman’s defection from UKIP to the Tories has delighted more than a few Conservative backbenchers.

Not least among their reasons for glee are their new recruit’s connection via birth to Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, the former Liberal Prime Minister.

David is actually a distant relative rather than a direct descendant, but that hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm for his return to the Tory fold after more than a decade away.

Defections are always tricky to navigate and I’m told that Mark Pritchard had a key role in wooing his old friend (and fellow Bow Group member) back.

I hear that while Charles Tannock handled most of the negotiations in Brussels, it was Pritchard and Stewart Jackson who handled things in London.

The final deed was actually done over a dinner of big T-bone steaks in Gaucho’s restaurant in Piccaddilly last month.

Big steaks and wine conjure up a much more Tory menu than the limp Granita fare in Islington picked over by Blair and Brown all those years ago.

But then again, Gaucho’s is Argentinian….How will Pritchard and Jackson ever look the Falklands Islanders in the eye again?

Why Would Anyone Be Surprised When The Cast In Leadership & Its Parasites Have Changed So Little!

Hi,

many in UKIP and the media will have sufficiently long memories to recall the first attempt Nigel Farage made to be elected as leader.

That was when Roger Knapman’s hypocracy in leadership taking advantage of his position as leaders and an MEP with family involvement in people traffiking importing foreign labour to do British jobs and you will recall he was promoted use of foreign labour over British to a Sunday Times journalist Rachel Mostyn CLICK HERE This together with the fact that Nigel Farage had lied to Robert Kilroy Silk to get him to stand as an MEP.

That was the election where Douglas Denny wasremoved as Returning Officer for his dishonesty and corrupting the election to favour his chosen leader Nigel Farage. The NEC made a majority vote to remove him and put Geoffrey Kingscott in his place – ever since at various times Douglas Denny in true form has lied about this, as with so  much else, he has endeavoured to write and sell his own revisionist history to try to cover-up his personal dishonesty and corruption in office.

You will note that from time to time both Anthony Butcher AND Richard Suchorzewski have published the facts clarifying Douglas Denny’s dishonesty as he amongst other things not only campaigned for Farage but also solicited and obtained signatures for him. Hardly the behaviour of an honest man!

It was also the election where one of Nigel Farage’s mistresses Annabelle Fuller whom he employed in a Press Relations capacity was with others in association with the Press Office were phoning people to spread malicious and untrue lies about other candidates as with:

 

Even after Douglas Denny was removed for his dishonesty Geoffrey Kingscott failed to take any action to address this corruption by Farage’s staff and ‘FRIENDS’. It was understood that it had been intimated to Geoffrey Kingscott that were Farage to be elected he would ensure Kingscott had a salaried position.

It may well be for that reason that no action was taken when the utterly corrupt liar and fantasist Mark Croucher produced a copy of Independence News at Party expense which also contained smears and inuendo and was clearly little more than a ‘fanzine’ for Farage no action was taken despite a ruling that Independent News would be fully vetted by Kingscott before publication, which it was not – deliberately or I am sure he would have removed at least some of Mark Croucher’s dishonesty.

Sadly it seems we have yet further underhand corruption of the same nature and as a recipient of the salacious and unsubstantiated gossip smear which I was not going to even grace with publicity as it is all too redollent of Farage’s claque in the past and now that the foul mouthed Annabelle Fuller has been reinstated with her chum Stephen Sobey as Athena-PR working for Farage why would anyone be surprised when UKIP’s behaviour retuirns to her gutter morality and lack of morality.

Let us not rehearse the corrupt and dishonest behaviour, yet again, of people like:
Douglas Denny, Andrew Smith, Derek Clark MEP, Gerard Batten MEP, Marta Andreasen MEP, Godfrey Bloom, MEP, Mark Croucher, Trevor Coleman MEP, Paul Nuttall MEP, Gawain Towler, John Ison, Peter Reeve, Lisa Duffy, Clive Page, David Lott, George Curtis, David Bannerman MEP, Malcolm Wood, Hugh Williams etc.They really are scum – no more than political flotasam and jetsome on the make and the take!

Liars, dissemblers, corrupt, incompetent fantasists – self seeking and self serving without morality.

To be fair Eric skilled as he is as a mathematician and an economist with experience as a Downing Street Civil Service Adviser AND as a senior executive of The Bank of England before his retirement whose wife is an NHS Consultant Head of Department in a major West Country Hospital; proved short of temper in dealing with fools and scoundrels of UKIP’s leadership!

Why Farage’s UKIP is not fit for purpose

UKIP needs more members, more talent and more UK effort to  even start on the road to getting our country back by repealing the 1972 European Communities Act. Since Farage and his Cabal have taken control of UKIP membership has fallen steadily, activists, the life blood of any political party who disagree with Farage  have been kicked out, and sycophantic placemen put into all the important party positions. No serious political party carries on like this. You only see this behaviour in cults where a gullible and uncritical membership are conned by, and blindly supports, a corrupt leadership whose only interest is in lining their own pockets.

Look at those at the top of UKIP enjoying a luxurious cosseted lifestyle set up by the EU but paid for ultimately by UK taxpayers. They are tame, pampered, toothless EU poodles kept in Brussels who give Barroso and the other Eurocrats democratic credibility by enabling them to claim they tolerate anti-EU parties. Its tokenism plain and simple. Ask the brothers or the sisterhood.

The lack of talent in the current UKIP leadership is staggering.

Look at the elderly, self satisfied Derek Clark, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands but seldom seen there. Under him UKIP in the East Midlands has gone from the strongest region in the country in the heyday of RKS to one of closed and zombie branches with a few deeply unhappy remaining members.

Its a microcosm of what is happening to UKIP over the whole UK. Godfrey Bloom UKIP MEP for Yorkshire is an embarrassment with his crass public behaviour.

Bannerman, Dartmouth and Farage are ex-Tories whose political ambitions were judged by the Tory party to be far in excess of their limited talents and deemed not to be worthy of a safe Tory parliamentary seat. Given the low standard of the average Tory MP that is a pretty damning verdict.

Honest and integrity can make up for lack of ability but even in that UKIP is lacking.

When was Andreasen last seen in South East region she was elected to represent?

Why does Trevor Colman sit in Brussels with Farage’s nasty neo-Nazi, mid-European associates.

How many relatives of UKIP members died at the hands of the Nazis in the Second World War?

Do the ordinary UKIP members know their cult leader associates with neo-Nazi parties in Brussels? I think not.

Nicky Sinclaire has shown how effective honesty, integrity and consistency can be in opposing the EU. Not surprising then she was kicked out of UKIP.

Why is Malcolm Pearson, Farage’s puppet leader of UKIP, a man who at the last General Election campaigned for the Tories, still in the UKIP ruling group?

Could this happen in any other party? I don’t think so.

Then we have ex-chairman Nuttall MEP who counts success as defeating the BNP for 4th place in elections. UKIP is supposed to be about getting us out of the EU and the best way to handle the BNP is to ignore them! Comrade Nuttall would do better to address the needs of the jobless of Merseyside and try and recruit them for UKIP.   

There is also UKIP’s top management, Crowther and Duffy.
No significant management track record and no organisational ability seems to sum them up.

The current NEC is full of wannabe MEPs or more correctly wannabe on the gravy train who are therefore beholden to Farage for preferment.

There are many able and talented people who want us out of the EU but how many will want to join a cult party which measures its success by the leaders appearances and applause on Question Time.

Its only MPs in Westminster that can get us out of the EU. This needs organisation and hard work in local elections addressing the issues of jobs, schools and health that impinge on peoples lives and earns their trust to vote for UKIP when it matters.

It needs a leader who attracts people in, not one who kicks people out.

Until Farage and his clique go this will not change. UKIP numbers will continue to decline, the sycophants will squabble about getting onto the EU gravy train, the BBC will continue to massage Farage’s vanity with QT invites etc and UKIP will continue to slide into the garbage can of history.

I pray I will someday see our country free from the EU but clearly Farage’s UKIP will play no part in our freedom struggle.

yes the private blog you quoted was a very good bit of spin.

The LibDim support has rightly collapsed and was doing so at the General Election but they were brought into the boy kings ridiculous coalescence of oil and water, which has clearly produced little more than froth.

As for the details quoted in the blog they are in fact wrong – do read the You Gov Poll itself and you will find the blogger misquotes it.

Almost 18 years since UKIP launched is it really considered an achievement of merit when out of some 19,500 varied seats to which politicians can be elected in these United Kingdoms UKIP has less than 30.

Including MEPs elected not on merit, not on ability, not on competence, not on integrity but by Nigel Farage and Mark Croucher promoting The BNP at every opportunity and capitalising of the grossly misleading media coverage of Westminster MPs’ secondary allowances and a handfull of individuals abusing the trust.

The LibDims are indeed in collapse and UKIP may well capitalise on this but with not a single aspirant of any gravitas, competence or integrity in a party bereft of leadership, without vision, strategy or tactics and with a clear reputation of childish stunts, lack of structure and some of the most unpleasant liars, cheats and scheisters in British politics with no stable funding!

Then of course UKIP is held back by both its overt and its covert participation and support of racism, xenophobia, anti Judaism, sexual intollerance and criminal behaviour and violence.

Is it any wonder that UKIP are not within a sniff, let alone striking distance, of gaining the respect of the British electorate in a Westminster election with the hope of getting an MP elected.

Consider the last by election: UKIP dumped their local candidate and parachuted into a Manchester region constituency at Oldham & Saddlebrook a comic book clown from the pubs of Liverpool to mumble his way unintelligibly through his speech opportunities.

Paul Nuttall as Nigel Farage’s placed puppet Chairman of UKIP or is it Farage’s other puppet Steve Crowther who is chairman or the ridiculous Lisa Duffy (oh of course his puppet CEO!) – is it any reason that despite a spend of over £50K relative to a probable £1-2K in the GE yet his achievements were catastrophic at the cost.

You will have noted that Farage’s party in the by election did not even aim for election, nor to make a step to Leave-The-EU and its most notable behaviour was a pub crawl with the aim of displacing The BNP as the stated aim!

As a long term UKIP supporter I find it sad that the blogger you quote was inventing his evidence and sadly was plain wrong, as is clear from the facts.

Unlike many of the parasites surrounding the Farage leadership I have a very clear vision, potential strategies and many tactics but Farage’s antics will ensure UKIP is seen for what it is and the blogger quoted will never see their prediction come true.

Also unlike many of the salaried praise singers of Farage leadership I have no need to roll in the gutter with distortion and lies – nor ad hominem attacks of supporters, the facts of the message are much more consequential than the messengers.

How do YOU suggest UKIP is cleaned up to actually make it electable rather than just a minority default vote?

Hi,

I gather from a contact in The EU parliament that Nikki Sinclaire has been approached and offered a huge honour as a first term MEP – she has I understand accepted.

In the light of this I thought it appropriate to see if I could check out why only one British MEP was approached.

I gather that one huge plus point was that Nikki Sinclaire had had the integrity and courage to take a firm stance against racism, anti Judaism and sexual intollerance. Her prodigious workload minded that it was she who has fronted the campaign against unlawful Gypsy settlement particularly in her constituency of Meridan – a campaign that was the primary reason she made a point of standing in the General Election where having been betrayed by the lies of Malcolm Pearson and the duplicity and bullying of Farage, who saw his income stream as under threat within his vile EFD Group.

It was essential for Nikki Sinclaire as an honourable member of UKIP to maintain her presence for her constituents as an MEP elected by her voters for her UKIP principles – that she had been betrayed by the duplicity and dishonesty of a member of staff who had seemingly not just mismanaged her accounts from a position of trust but had both stolen money and for all his tears was unconvincing.

That Jon Paul Ison quit her service under a cloud was of little help nor was the pile of missing documents he boasted of to a chum, who he later betrayed circulating unfounded phone messages and scurrilous ‘e’Mails in return for which one can ponder which post he was seeking whether working with his close friend:

 He would have done well in Farage’s Party Allcock however failed to campaign for Jon Ison and got nowhere as a PPC.

Notably despite the betrayal of Nikki both by Malcom Pearson as titular leader and the abuse of the actual leader Farage and then having been betrayed by her own staff we note now that Jon Ison has licked adequate boots to be tolerated in Farage’s party though I would doubt he would be welcome by honourable UKIP supporters like Mike Nattrass & Nikki Sinclaire who have ethics and refuse to associate and assist racists, anti Judaism and violence.

A measure of just how debased Farage’s party is Jon Ison was appointed as a member of The Disciplinary Committee having not even applied – the position was it seems in the gift of Paul Nuttall – that is the degree to which Farage’s party has become debased but then again with liars and frauds like Mick McGough on the NEC, liars and fantasists by the proven corrupt Douglas Denny still tollerated on the NEC and pond life like Gawain Towler and Mark Croucher befouling their media relations with I understand the odious foul mouthed slut Annabelle Fuller still hovering around on FaceBook and elsewhere for Farage.

Is there ANYONE in Farage’s leadership and salaried claque of praise singers anyone in their right mind would want to employ? I can think of not one. The MEPs and NEC are without exception untrustworthy.

It would seem I am not alone in this belief in the light of the work load Sinclaire is getting relative to when she was in Farage’s group!

As I said above I had someone check out what she had been upto this week – obviously being unable to ask her outright it was difficult and we may have missed out on some items.

Here are some of the work items she has done not neccessarity in order:

Fly back for a meeting with a national Asian newsagency

Meeting at The MMoD with General Sir David Richards for a detailed and confidential briefing relative to Afghanistan and military commitments.

Full afternoon meeting with her Solicitors and Barrister relative to the employment tribunal she won & High Court case.

Visit Constituency Office

Meeting re Petition for an EU Referendum

Return to Brussels and meet up with Major National journalist team.

Attend Human Rights meeting.

Publication of article in EU Reporter after research on Spanish CLICK HERE

Attend committee re Tunisia

Holocaust Day memorial service.

Further meetings with journalists.

Fly back to UK & drive to constituency.

Meeting with Amnesty Int. scheduled

Brief visit to Meriden re unlawful gypsy encampment laterly meeting the attention of Caroline Spellman with whom a week ago Sinclaire shared key note status at a conference.

I’m sure there was more but this is what I have tracked down!

The key note of the week in my opinion is the fact that Nikki Sinclaire has received the honour of being asked to attend and assist as a member of a 9 man mission to Tunisia on behalf of The EU.

Sinclaire was the only British MEP asked as a result of her work on the Human Rights Committee and her work with Women’s groups and her increased credibility as an Independent UKIP MEP distanced from Farage and the extremist EFD he chairs.

I gather the advisory group will be in Tunisia from Thursday to Sunday this coming week where the aim is to meet the various parties and groups on all sides and report back to report on their observations ascertaining as much as possible with the support of the EU Secretariat. Sinclaire’s role is particularly relevant in terms of human rights and reportage to journalists relevant to the journalists she is scheduled to meet in Tunis.

Sinclaire’s particular relevance now that she is seen as an honest UKIP MEP is important having been invited as the EU will tend to seek to subsume Tunisia in embrouillment with The EU in the manner of its democracy – Sinclaire can do much to ensure that Tunisia is well aware that in adopting and nurturing democracy the only way it can make any sense of democracy is by vererating and respecting their own Sovereignty – a situation denied Britain.

Having taken part at this stage as an honoured guest there is every possibility that she can count on a key role in the supervision of the election and can show the obscene damage done to Britain by our being subsumed as vassals of The EU. We may thus derive benefit when the time comes for us to leave The EU as friends are always of value and the next potential friend is Egypt who will almost inevitably seek supervision to stabilise their volatile hoards.

Sinclaire’s personal experience organising The Petition since she drew up the concept just after Easter last year will stand her in good stead in terms of organisational skills and structure.

As for knowledge of Tunisia perhaps she could approach Caroline Flint as you may remember that Caroline Flint married a Tunisian waiter whilst on holiday there some years later – I understand two children later Caroline Flint divorced her Tunisian husband and I’m sure her status as an MP and the fact she had moved in with another must surely have had no bearing on her ex husband’s deportation!!

I’m sure Ms. Flint could give many tips on Tunisian society and I have my doubts that Sinclaire would be likely to marry a waiter in the hotel! Marrying the waiter might have seemed unwise at the time but Anglo Tunisian relations can hardly be seen as helped when it transpired when Ms. Flint was a minister that the man she deported was the son of a Tunisian Minister!

I doubt Sinclaire would walk into such a honey trap!

CONGRATULATIONS Sinclaire that you were invited to such a position rather than put yourself forward – that you were selected speaks volumes of the status she can now build liberated from the racism, extremism, anti Judaism etc. that are endemic in Farage’s party see CLICK HERE.

Just because the sole stated aim of UKIP was to beat their racist pals in The BNP so that UKIP racist MEPs could go back to engorging in Brussels, having had Farage & Croucher do so much to get Nick Griffin & Andrew Brons elected as MEPs by raising the profile of The BNP at every opportunity before the EU elections.

We now have the risible spectacle of UKIP leadership importing a Scouse spiv to mumble their policies in a near unintelligible manner on video see CLICK HERE and making idiotic statements of no political competence to The BBC.

We see at least 3 £Millionaires imported from the South East to this Northern Labouir stronghold:

Stuart Wheeler life time Tory Backer and multi Millionaire professional gambler. A dutiful Thatcherite who although he was the pro EU Tories biggest ever donor had seemingly zero influence.

Malcolm Lord Pearson whose Father was a Millionaire insurance salesman who placed his son at Eton where he was notable for his inconsequentiality and Father later hived off a part of his own business with competent directors and sent wee Michael out to lunch where it seems he has spent most of his life as a Thatcherite irritant.
Too unreliable on EU matters and to unprepossessing to be a PPC for Maggie she booted him into The H0L in return for his lifetime lunch contacts.

Then we have another southern spiv Nigel Farage, who is an excellent performer on the media but even in the promo video shown can not get through 3 minutes and 4 seconds in the office without a glass in his hand. This particular millionaire has made his money out of UKIP but it is doubtfull UKIP has had its money’s worth and clearly Britain and the tax payer haven’t.

So we have a Labour win with a hugely increased majority in the Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election.

Debbie Abrahams takes the seat with 14,718 votes (42 percent – up 10 points since the general election)

The Lib-Dims maintained their share of the vote, taking 11,160 (32 percent, up 0.32 points)

In 3rd. place The Tory vote collapsed, the candidate Kashif Ali taking 4,481 (12.8 percent, down 14 points).

Thus on a turnout of 34,930 (48 percent).
We have a new Labour MP on a mere 20 percent of the potential vote.

 The Labour majority is 3,558.

The also rans were way down the scale – The also rans got about 13% of the vote!

UKIP is trying to put a brave face on their disaster with a mere 2,029 votes and just saved Paul Nuttall his lunch money by 0.8%

But despite ensuring that The BNP did well by raising their status endlessly talking about them UKIP did beat them by just over 1% and by under 500 votes – Wow!

 The Strawman – The Mortally Wounded & The Ass
Hi,

despite Rich & Mark’s slightly modified cartoon it is clear that Paul Nuttall will not put a dent in the election result – EVEN WITH the announcement of the injection of support for UKIP being announced.

It is expected that although he has little or no time for the vacuous and as he made clear last year ‘untrustworthy & profligate’ Nigel Farage – Stuart Wheeler having made a bit of a mess of his backing last year and having opted NOT to fully support UKIP he went on to form his own Party and stand in the General Election against UKIP.

Interestingly Stuart Wheeler also made a small donation – sadly below the declarable limit, to The INDEPENDENT Leave-The-EU Alliance which was most welcome if for no other way than as encouragement for the initiative

It is believed that this time Stuart Wheeler will make a stand and sadly, much as I have some time for Wheeler as a professional gambler I do foresee UKIP being little more than a toy in his toy box and for funded survival UKIP will lose its independence to be led by the nose by Stuart Wheeler, wherever he chooses to go – that how ever can only be better than led by Nigel Farage’s gonads as it lurched from crisis through scandal and back to the gutter on a regular circuit for lack of ANYONE of competence within sight, let alone reach of the tiller!.

Just as with the large donation and support of Dr. Vernon Colman was a tremendous confidence boost that we were in fact taking a valid and worthwhile action.

The I L-T-EU A is at least all set up and legitimately valid for when UKIP finally collapses as it surely will under the weight of its own corruption – regardless of the well meaning if somewhat confused support of Stuart Wheeler UNLESS he is willing to exchange his money for HIS control and remove the scum that has risen to control UKIP that has so demeaned the party.

UKIP have put out notice of an urgent press conference in Oldham this afternoon at 3pm to announce that a “Very important well known wealthy Tory grandee is today joining UKIP”.
Word is that Stuart Wheeler, the online betting tycoon, will take up official Treasurer duties for the anti-EU party.
The charming 75-year-old, old Etonian and ex-guardsman is one of those not afraid to put his money where his mouth is.
In 2001 he donated £5m to the Tory Party which was then at the height of its Euro-scepticism.
But disappointed by David Cameron’s approach, he was expelled from the Conservatives in 2009 after giving £100,000 to UKIP.
However, he formed his own Trust Party to fight in the 2010 General Election. On home territory in Bexhill, Kent, he polled 4.9% almost saving his deposit.
It won’t come as a surprise that Mr Wheeler has finally opted for UKIP, and he’ll certainly go on expressing his own opinions whatever the party line – but his voice and his deep pockets will be a definite boost for UKIP.
This is just the latest surprise to come out of the Oldham and Saddleworth by-election. My advice is that it won’t be the last.

I’m not saying that Labour aren’t going to hold the seat on Thursday but I am saying that I place very little faith in opinion polls carried out in the constituency and absolutely none in the posturing of the rival bookies.

Former Tory donor Stuart Wheeler becomes UKIP treasurer

The wealthy former Conservative Party donor Stuart Wheeler has joined the UK Independence Party as its treasurer.
The spread-betting tycoon, who gave the Tories £5m in a single donation in 2001, was expelled from the party in 2009 after donating £100,000 to UKIP.
Mr Wheeler, who has criticised David Cameron’s attitude to the EU, said UKIP’s success was “vital”.
He unsuccessfully ran for Parliament last year, after setting up his own “anti-corruption” party.
The announcement of Mr Wheeler’s decision to join UKIP as treasurer was made at a press conference in Oldham East and Saddleworth, where a by-election is taking place this Thursday.

‘Honoured’

He said: “I believe that what UKIP is doing is vital for this country, and of course the party’s financial management is crucial.
“So I am very honoured to have been appointed Treasurer and I shall do my very best in both helping to raise money for the party and in the management of its financial affairs under Nigel Farage as leader and Steve Crowther as executive chairman.”
Mr Farage said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Stuart Wheeler has become UKIP’s Treasurer. Our policies are now mainstream in British politics: all that is holding us back is a lack of funds and I believe that a highly respected Eurosceptic like Stuart will help us do the job.”
Mr Wheeler previously made a donation to UKIP – which wants the UK to leave the European Union – in the run-up to the 2009 European elections.
He was expelled from the Conservatives, with Mr Cameron saying politics was a “team game and, in the end, you’re either in the team or not”.
Mr Wheeler later set up his own Trust Party last year in the wake of the MPs’ expenses scandal, promising to “clean up” Westminster. He came fourth in the ballot in Bexhill and Battle, in East Sussex, at last year’s general election.

Mr Wheeler worked as a barrister before setting up IG Index in 1974. The company allowed UK residents to speculate on the price of gold at a time when exchange controls prevented them from buying it, except at a premium.

Oldham East presents voters with dilemma: who gets the biggest slap?

    The battle of the backlashes has resumed in the fogbound Pennines after the briefest of truces over Christmas.Rival canvassing and leaflet teams are out again on the hillsides of Oldham East and Saddleworth trying to cultivate anger about either the disgraced former Labour MP Phil Woolas or about the coalition’s troubled record.
    Both strike a resentful chord in an area already grumpy about living on the edge of decision making, whether that means a remoteness from London or the age-old fissure between Yorkshire and Lancashire which meet here.But sorting out which – Woolas or Cameron-Clegg – most deserves the slap the constituency can give at the byelection on 13 January is proving taxing.”If Woolas did what they say, telling lies in his leaflets, then I condemn him,” said Naeem Butt, a 30-year-old machine operator whose political interest sharpened abruptly after he lost his job in nearby Ashton-under-Lyne three weeks ago. “But there are a lot of coalition policies which I don’t agree with at all. Worst of all is the VAT rise to 20%. Now that I’ve not got a decent income, and not a lot of hope of finding a new job straight away, that’s going to affect me plenty.”
    Near Butt’s home in Lees, a lifelong Liberal, Joan Radcliffe, was also undecided. Looking back to Woolas’s knife-edge majority of 103 (0.2%) in May, which an election court overturned in November because of the leaflet lies, she originally considered the Lib Dems a shoo-in. But now, with challenging policies compounded by the revelations concerning the unease of Lib Dem ministers, she is less sure of backing Elwyn Watkins, who was defeated by Woolas in May and is now standing again. “I haven’t got words bad enough to tell you what I think about Woolas,” she said. “But I think these huge fees for students are completely wrong.”Celeste Collinge, her companion on a post-Christmas shopping trip in Springhead, agreed: “I’ve a 16-year-old daughter who’s been on course for university, but we’ve got our doubts now – not just myself and my husband, but our daughter too. We’ve a big gap before our next one [a primary schoolboy] so we may be able to manage to help her, then save enough for him.
    But it wouldn’t be easy. I’ve heard what they say about helping lower-income students and that sort of concession, so we’ll be thinking about it. There’s going to be a lot of thinking of that sort round here over the next two weeks.”Two leaflet distributors were busy in Uppermill, where the election court sat for four days at the civic centre. Tom Hurst and Jane Collins, the local and Yorkshire regional organisers for Ukip, were optimistic about picking up “traditional Conservatives who see David Cameron as a Liberal”. They hoped to benefit from rumours – plentiful locally but strongly denied by Tories – that the Conservative party is reluctant to fight too fiercely against its coalition partner. Saddleworth has a long history of tactical voting; it helped the Liberals win Colne Valley and then Saddleworth and Littleborough when constituency borders included its network of villages in those seats.Meanwhile others, who were inclined to wish a plague on all three houses, red, blue and yellow, were looking to the British National party, even though its leader, Nick Griffin, ducked the contest after hinting that he would stand.The BNP’s reputation deterred 91-year-old Catherine Reed, out walking her son’s dog in the thaw, but she said Griffin was the only politician to have highlighted her main concern. “He got it in just before the end, on Question Time. He’s against all this sex education they give children when they’re so young. It robs them of innocence and their childhood. That’s what I think. That’s what I want our MP to take up.”
    To Ken Bennett, a former executive on the Sunday Mirror and Daily Express, who now runs his own monthly, the Saddleworth Independent, anything local that might be taken up, skilfully and energetically, could mean victory. In its ninth issue the paper broke the news, in December, that a Voice of Saddleworth party would fight every ward in next May’s council elections, on a platform of “Saddleworth before party politics”.Every candidate will claim to fit such a bill, but with only a fortnight to convince voters, Watkins’ previous run at the job could prove handy. The Lib Dems have also earned points for calling the election quickly, ignoring Westminster etiquette which gives the right to the sitting party.”People here are longing, yearning even, for an end to all this business and the right to have an MP making their voice heard, like everyone else,” said Bennett.
    Against that, Labour’s Debbie Abrahams stands to pick up votes from another of the region’s many varieties of disgruntlement. Geoff Haigh, who runs the Ram’s Head , at the constituency’s highest point, a tongue of Lancashire where, in the old days, West Riding of Yorkshire county council refused to collect bins or grit the moorland road – summed it up.
    “I don’t think a court should interfere with our judgment,” he said of the Woolas debacle. “We voted him in. It should be up to us to vote him out at the next election if we want to.”One signal could be whether the Ram’s Head erects the vast red Labour billboard that greeted Tony Blair in May, when he dropped by on his election tour to pick up a strawberry-topped cake for his birthday. “I’m not saying how I’ll vote,” said Haigh, “but Woolas was certainly a thorough constituency MP. I’ll put it like this, as my granny wrote in my autograph book when I was a boy: ‘You never know the value of water until the well runneth dry.’ “

Surely one can only see it as embarrassing that UKIP lacks a credible candidate and failed to get so much as a mention from its local candidater who is after all the party Chairman and thus Farage’s puppet placement after 17 years!

Then again with just 1,720 votes trailing the BNP by best pat of 30% and beset with publicity of playing the fool – utter incompetence in management terms – failed leadership – attacks by the claimed leader on his own people on TV – endless self inflicted bad publicity – Court case after Court case lost – dishonourable failure to settle their debts – contempt for British Law – collusion in Racism, anti Judaism, sexual harassment and the like with their violent gutter chums in the EFD in EUrope – what would one expect.

It is a very long time singe UKIP had a positive story of any consequence in the media and can YOU remember one that wasn’t put there in desperation to pimp up Farage?

Now I don’t claim to know much about that bit from Shropshire to The Scottish Borders but do correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the allegiance split between Manchester, Sunderland, Newcastle & Liverpool?

Isn’t the main rivalry between Liverpool & Manchester where to give both something they can win at they both have 2 football teams! Glasgow has nothing going for it either a ghastly dump but to try to have an occasional winner they have two football teams too.

Like all football teams they all seem to represent their community and be hugely in debt with over paid oiks milking the local; poor.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Oldham strongly affiliated with Manchester? Doesn’t that make the concept of putting a nebish from Liverpool in situ as a candidate make UKIP look outright idiotic – is this just another ego trip by Nuttall or just another example of unprofessional leadership by the utterly incompetent Farage?

I was also particularly interested in the only comment on a UKIP was picked up by Google and states:
“Tom Hurst and Jane Collins, the local and Yorkshire regional organisers for Ukip“

Surely this is particularly embarrassing in view of the fact that OLAF have taken regular interest in UKIP’s abuse of EU funds and the employment of ‘Regional Organisers’ for political purposes!

Apparently Farage has an endless supply of people wanting to stand in
front of cannon. It brings to mind Sassoon’s ‘General’ yet again.

Here is the math:

UKIP + (by election) = farce.

UKIP + (by election) + (Lab/LibDim/Moslem voters) = total wipeout

Yet they still do it, wasting effort and money and goodwill in the
process.

Policies? Nope.
Planning? Not really.
Strategy? HaHaHaHaHaHa…

My advice: don’t be a dupe. By all means let the NEC meet, to work out
why the sane people (there must be SOME left in UKIP, somewhere!) have
all stayed home.

Send any funds you might donate to David Davis instead, earmarked for
the genuine Tory revival. It’s got far better chance there of doing some
good.

What are Ladbrokes offering on UKIP getting <1% of the vote? Probably
worth a punt…
