Justin ADAMS Pilot of UKIP Banner Stunt Crash – Sentenced!
Over a Year after the unfortunate crash – with his work, company, marriage, health, sanity, home, family, plane and more in ruins – having spent 6 months in Prison awaiting outcome let us hope UKIP can now try to ensure this unfortunate man gets the medical help he clearly needs – rather than further berate him!

The help UKIP can provide will be a measure of what they might be like if ever they rise above Mare in a village council!!

Hi,

as this blog stated right at the outset this now clearly seems a mental health issue and clearly Justin Adams has been deeply harmed by the plane crash whilst Nigel Farage – being a politician with no job to worry about – has merely capitalised on his personal survival.

As stated before Justice delayed is Justice denied and holding Justin Adams in a prison in his fragile state when clearly he needed medical help can hardly be seen as Justice.

A pilot found guilty of threatening to kill UKIP leader Nigel Farage following a plane crash has been given a two-year supervised community order.

A jury found Justin Adams guilty of making five threats relating to Mr Farage and crash investigator Martin James after the accident in May 2010.

The court heard the recording of a phone call where Adams claimed to have a 9mm pistol.

Adams, 46, of Oxfordshire, said his threats were “a cry for help”.

Mr Farage said he intends to “draw a line under this whole affair”.

In a statement, he added: “Today’s sentencing marks the end of a sad and tragic episode.

“As I have stated previously, it is has always been my belief that Mr Adams was in need of help and support from our mental health services, yet he never got the level of care that he needed.”

Entangled banner

The crash in Northamptonshire on 6 May last year, the day of the 2010 General Election, left both self-employed pilot Adams and Mr Farage in hospital.

An Air Accidents Investigation Branch report found the plane crashed when a campaign banner it was towing became entangled, causing the plane’s nose to drop.

A subsequent Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) inquiry, which involved investigator Martin James and looked into whether Adams was qualified to fly with a banner, cleared the pilot.

The court heard that Adams lost work in the six months it took for the CAA investigation into the crash to take place and he was unable to have his plane repaired, as insurers would not pay out until the investigation had been completed.

As well as being angry about the length of time the investigation took, Adams also felt resentment towards Mr Farage, judge Mr Justice Saunders said.

The pilot believed he had lost out on an opportunity to sell his story, having been advised not to speak to the press.

He made threats to kill both CAA crash investigator Mr James and Mr Farage.

During the trial, jurors were played a recording of phone call by Adams to police.

‘Drinking to excess’

He said: “I’m going to kill somebody or two”, the court heard.

He later added: “I now have a 9mm pistol, I’ve got the means – I will take them out and then myself.”

Adams was found guilty of five counts of making threats to kill by a jury in April.

Mr Justice Saunders said Adams was suffering from “a depressive order of moderate severity” which had been triggered by the crash.

The judge told the court: “He was also drinking to excess, which undoubtedly impaired his judgment and affected his behaviour.

“I also accept, having heard the evidence in the trial, that to an extent these offences were a cry for help as well as an expression of anger and resentment at the events that had happened.”

Adams has been in custody for six months before sentencing.

Hi,

so finally the long delayed trial of Justin Adams has commenced – it was fast beginning to look like Justice Delayed is Justice Denied – Justin Adams has now been held in custody as an innocent man pending trial (British presumption of innocence!) for longer than Tom Wise as an MEP was held in prison on a 2 year prison sentence for fraud to which he pleaded guilty – which was until the very last minute condoned by UKIP!

Having, as I have already stated on this blog, been phoned up by Justin Adams and discussed the flight, the damage, the injuries and the aftermath and its effects on his life and health in some detail I incline to the opinion (based on no medical expertise) that Justin Adams is severely damaged.

Justin Adams has lost his plane, his confidence, his marriage, his health, his home, his income all in one, fortunately non fatal, plane crash during a routine stunt.

I am astonished on the information in the public domain that either Farage or the Inspector could have taken his comments seriously – that the Police became involved is of course unsurprising however it does all rather look like an over reaction to a mental health issue of tragic proportions.

Astonishingly we learn from the trial that when Nigel Farage & Justin Adams had a meeting after then Air incident report there was a mental health nurse (unfortunately described by the media as a ‘Mental Nurse’!!) – in view of the parties present can we be surprised 😉

A clash of mental health issues?

Whatever the outcome of the trial I hope Farage feels reassured and safer and Justin Adams is treated leniently, minded of his losses and health damage.

We all know what a plane crash can do to mental health – Nigel Farage was wandering around trying to pass himself off as some sort of a Mesiah having survived an accident!

Mr Adams felt Mr Farage profited through speaking about the crash while he was forced to stay silent while an investigation took place.

Mr Adams was flying the light aircraft which nose-dived into a field on the day of the general election last year after a publicity stunt went wrong.

The 45-year-old pilot, of Buckland, Oxfordshire, was cleared of being at fault, but the jury was told yesterday that he was angry that the investigation had led to the failure of his marriage and his business. He said it left him with mental health problems as well as physical injuries.

The pair met after Mr Adams was cleared of blame by the Civil Aviation Authority. The pilot, who was accompanied by a mental health nurse, allegedly told Mr Farage that he had intended to kill him and could not be sure that he would not do so in the future. Mr Farage told Oxford Crown Court: “He said, ‘I used to be in the special forces and no one is safe, do you understand me?’ ”

Mr Farage went on: “He said, ‘I was going to kill you today but I have decided not to but I can’t preclude that happening in the future’. He said ‘I know this may not be rational, but I have lost everything and if I kill you I will then kill myself’.”

Mr Farage added: “He believed I had profited out of the accident and that was simply untrue. I was very, very worried indeed and not only a bit scared.”

Mr Adams denies making five threats to kill. The trial continues.
