It was all going so well for senior UKIP spinner and MEP hopeful Gawain Towler at a Euro election debate hosted by lobbyists PLMR last week, with Towler holding forth on his party sacking candidates exposed as bigots by the media:
“We don’t have the resources with 64 full-time members of staff to check all of the two and a half thousand candidates, so the fact that is that someone else is doing it and proving that ‘X’ is a ghastly fellow … thank you very much, GONE! We’re happy with that.”
But unprompted, Towler then defended candidate Bradley Monk, who dressed as paedophile Jimmy Savile for fun:
The South West region candidate claimed:
“He went as a monster: a monster created by the media. I’m not going to criticise him for that.”
“We’re going to defend that sort of thing”
Contrary to claims made by Towler and party leader Nigel Farage (AUDIO), UKIP often refuse to expel bigoted candidates — either defending their ‘right to hold those views’ or launching ‘investigations’ which go nowhere.
The vile racist who suggested Lenny Henry should emigrate “to a black country” is still a UKIP candidate along with others highlighted by Scrapbook last week.

I find it astonishing that someone so odious as Gawain Towler is not only a spin merchant for UKIP but even more astonishing is the fact that he is considered a suitable candidate to represent individual to represent people as an MEP – It does speak volumes of the true values of UKIP and its belief in the realities of democracy.
Let us not forget this is the excrescence who was deselected by the Regional committee as a candidate some years ago when his wife denounced his behaviour with his young daughter whilst bathing with her!
This is the individual who felt it appropriate to act WITH his wife and a group of women to produce this picture of him as a contact print:
a picture his wife touted of him on the internet and elsewhere.
But should we be surprised when this odious pervert boasted on his blog of spending a night with a spin merchant of the Labour party and the frisson of pleasure it gave him that as they were both of a political ‘bent’ they might find themselves at some time in the future opposing each other across the House of Commons.
This is an individual who openly boasted as a married man with young children of his interest and practice of casual sex with individuals of any gender, and according to his wife, any age in a manner perverse not only to his marriage vows but also to his role in the protection and example for his children.
Little wonder that his regional committee withdrew their support from his candidacy – yet possibly even more surprising was the action of Nigel Farage who by the end of the weekend following his dismissal Farage took it upon himself to reinstate him in a position of respect and responsibility as an employee of his party as Farage’s senior spin merchant running UKIP’s Press office! Much to the annoyance of UKIP’sd elected regional committee.
Little wonder that such an individual would have no understanding of the opprobriom in which Jimmy Savile is held and just how inappropriate it is that a UKIP candidate might consider it ‘fun’ to take the role of the late Jimmy Savile distasteful and inconsiderate of his many victims of sexual abuse as this may be.
Just what does such an odious individual offer Nigel Farage, UKIP and more concerningly the electorate!
