Hi,
as a result of conversation with other informed individuals both inUkip and well informed in Ukip matters and having watched Natasha Bolter’s interview on BBC Newsnight by Tom Mangold I found her testimony fairly convincing and having read the messages released earlier by Roger Bird in his defence I found the messages allegedly sent by Ms. Bolter were unwise but did not effect the allegations she has made as they were far from explicit and post dated his appointments of Ms. Bolter’s selection as a PPC.
That Roger Bird would seem likely to have abused his position of trust in the party even seeking to sell positions in the party for sex would not surprise me. There have been other instances where Ukip leadership has exploited its position of power to employ sexual partners on the Ukip payroll.
I also believe that Ukip’s claim of prompt action is questionable as they admit, as Newsnight informed us,they were notified of Ms. Bolter’s sexual and racial abuse by Ukip members on 05-Nov-2014.
Ms. Bolter has informed us that she had no knowledge of any action taken by Ukip though they claim they instructed an inquiry on the 6-nov and a week later appointed an independent team to investigate the matter yet it was apparent their idea of independent was in fact Ukip controlled internal disciplinary committee thus under the control of Nigel Farage as are all matters in Ukip since he holds the whip handle and largely the purse strings and has a proven track record of totally ignoring Ukip committee rulings.
It must be a stunningly lax investigation when you consider that over a month has passed and there has been zero contact with the claimed victim – thus clearly the investigating team have only the word of the miscreant and possibly a second hand version of the complaint of Ms. Bolter.
Hardly a professional nor a rapid or independent inquiry – just another shoddy Ukip shambols!
There is also the possibility that Roger Bird’s position is more difficult than one might think as it was he who acted as returning officer in the coronation of Nigel Farage as the ‘glorious cult leader’ without a single ballot being cast and seemingly in direct contravention of Ukip’s own constitutional rules!
Might this be an expedient manner in which to remove an embarrassing individual who has acted for Nigel Farage making way for a proper election which with Stuart Wheeler’s support would favour Douglas Carswell and would also open the door for Patrick O’Flynn to make a play for leadership!

Ukip’s star woman quits after sex claims

Natasha Bolter claims that Roger Bird propositioned her over dinner at his London club
Jack Hill/The Times
Natasha Bolter

Ukip’s most high-profile ethnic minority candidate has quit the party, claiming that she was sexually harassed by its general secretary.

Natasha Bolter, a headline speaker at Ukip’s party conference, has pulled out of hustings today in South Basildon, where she was widely expected to be elected as parliamentary candidate in the winnable seat.

Ms Bolter, 35, claims that Roger Bird, Ukip’s general secretary and the man in charge of vetting parliamentary candidates, propositioned her over dinner at his London club on the day that he interviewed her as a prospective candidate.

“He asked if we could continue the interview at the Oxford and Cambridge Club that evening,” Ms Bolter said. “I thought it was because I was nervous. [But] when I went I could see that he wasn’t really interested in what I had to offer as a politician. He took me down to the snooker room and said ‘I find you very attractive’. He said, ‘Would you like to come home with me?’ ”

Ukip suspended Mr Bird last night “following allegations of impropriety . . . with regard to candidate selection”.

It is understood that Mr Bird, 41, has claimed that he had a consensual relationship with Ms Bolter. She denies that any romantic or sexual contact took place. Ukip leaders were understood to have urged Ms Bolter as late as Sunday night to stand in the hustings.

Neil Hamilton, the controversial former Conservative MP who is now deputy chairman, has been parachuted in as a last-minute candidate.

Ms Bolter, who defected from Labour to Ukip in September, claimed that Mr Bird continued to try to sleep with her after she told him that she was not interested.

In October he invited her for a second time to the Oxford and Cambridge Club, where membership is limited to those who attended the universities. “He asked me to pop into his office first at 5pm,” Ms Bolter said. “If the general secretary of the party rings you and says that, you go.”

Mr Bird allegedly told Ms Bolter, who was wearing jeans, that she was not dressed smartly enough to dine later at the Oxford and Cambridge Club, she said. She said he bought her a £169 dress from Ted Baker and some matching shoes, before approvingly telling her that she “now looked like a girl who could get in a taxi”.

“That pissed me off,” Ms Bolter said. “I felt like slapping him. Before, when I was in jeans, I was obviously an Underground or a bus kind of person.”

Ms Bolter claimed that at this second meeting, after a heavy meal, Mr Bird “leant over and tried to kiss me”.

“It was obvious that he wanted to sleep with me,” she said. “He said, I can help you, I’m supporting you.

“I was quite adamant that I’m not going to sleep with him or anyone [in Ukip]. It’s hard enough for women. We shouldn’t have to sleep with people to get to the right place.”

Ms Bolter said that she left while “very upset”.

After that night she alleges that she received anonymous emails “bullying” her and alleging that she had slept with Mr Bird and was even pregnant with his child. She complained to party officials who instigated an investigation that led to Mr Bird’s suspension last night.

Ms Bolter’s problems with the party did not stop with Mr Bird. She alleges a catalogue of racism and sexism that went undealt with despite complaints to top officials.

She claimed, she was told by another prospective parliamentary candidate that her only job was “to look pretty and to get us votes”. On another occasion, a local party chairman allegedly told her that a woman with a young baby was a “f***ing Pole” who “hasn’t worked out the benefits system and how to get a free pushchair”.

Last night a Ukip spokesman did not comment on the substantive allegations. However, he said that the first knowledge that the party had that anything was wrong was on November 5. He said that an internal inquiry began on November 6 and that Mr Bird was suspended after a “draft report” by external consultants submitted on December 7.

“Unfortunately, Ukip has had to suspend Mr Bird pending a full investigation into allegations made against him. The party has acted swiftly and decisively and will not tolerate impropriety of any kind amongst its staff,” the spokesman said.

Mr Bird declined to comment.

 The above story is hidden behind The Times paywall!
A measure of the unpleasant attitude of Ukip members and the claque that follows them can be found discussing Ms. Bolter HERE on a Forum which acts as a sounding board for Ukip members and was formerly under the control of Ukip but which still has their claque and various senior members with false names upholding Ukip views and attacking those with whom they disagree or who dare criticise Ukip!

Ukip’s women problem: Roger Bird harassment claims aren’t the first sex scandal to hit Nigel Farage’s party

It’s an issue that Mr Farage has so far been unable to solve – and which could ultimately hurt Ukip in the polls

The claims involve one of Nigel Farage’s most prominent female prodigies, the potential parliamentary candidate Natasha Bolter. She told The Times newspaper that Roger Bird twice propositioned her for sex and said that he could advance her career in return.

In a statement, the party said it had acted “swiftly and decisively” in suspending Bird pending an investigation – but the allegations will come as a major blow to the Eurosceptic party which has been working hard to deal with what Mr Farage himself admitted is a women problem.

This is not the first alleged sexual harassment scandal to involve the party. In July last year a report revealed claims that a female activist had been assaulted, spat on and called a “whore” after her drink was spiked at a Ukip gala dinner.[ also CLICK HERE & HERE]

That report was produced by the then-general secretary Michael Greaves, who said that “for what it’s worth something may have happened to her”. The unnamed activist did not take her allegations beyond a complaint to the Ukip director Lisa Duffy for fear of creating “a scandal for everyone who works so hard in Ukip”.

Two months ago the former Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom quit the party on the grounds that it was becoming too “politically correct”.

Will Nigel Farage’s arrogance, hubris & corruption fail him? As he faces a leadership election in November with possible more credible challenges to his cult status, that will make Ukip’s way forward smootyher!

.

.
Hi,
one has to wonder at this article from Nigel Farage’s puppet paper; where it seemed all too clear that Patrick O’Flynn was rewarded for his sycophantic and promotional articles, where he failed to have the integrity to tell his readers of his bias, and was rewarded, as a newcomer to Ukip, with first place on their list and a near certain placement as an MEP (EU Democracy, I think not), for his corruption as a journalist!
The question is whether Nigel Farage has given this interview in arrogance, hubris or outright contempt for Ukip members based on the fact that so much of Ukip’s internal actions and both selections and elections have been undeniably corrupt and rigged.
Nigel Farage totally dismisses tyhe fact that his leadership term ends in November and by the 15-Sep-2014 nominees for positions in the new leadership election must be put forward – no doubt Ukip have already selected who will go forward to give the impression of a democratic process, which is unlikely based on Ukip’s tarck record of corruption and dishonesty eg CLICK HERE
One also has to be aware that not only is Patrick O’Flynn positioned, and by some mooted, to return Nigel Farage’s generosity in giving him the position and income of MEP but now we have Stuart Wheeler’s protege Douglas Carswell as a likely contender as the new leader to make an amalgamation with either a split Tory party or a Tory party led by Boris Johnson, which Wheeler has mooted, bewtween the New Tories and a New Look Ukip.
Will the undeniably corrupt and self serving abuses of democratic process and the bullying and whisper campaign so common in Farage’s Party cult succeed this time or will Farager be ousted sooner than he expects?

Nigel Farage says he will lose Ukip leadership if he doesn’t win South Thanet seat

NIGEL Farage has admitted he could be ousted as Ukip leader if he doesn’t win a seat at next year’s general election.

Published: Wed, August 27, 2014

Nigel Farage says he will be ousted as leader if he doesn't win seat Nigel Farage said: “If we fail the party will pick someone better than me” [PA]
Mr Farage has been chosen as a prospective parliamentary candidate for South Thanet in Kent, the constituency he finished fourth in back in 2005.When asked on Good Morning Britain if he would quit as leader in the event of an unsuccessful election, he said: “In all of life, if you succeed you get the laurels and the champagne and if you fail you get booted out. “That applies to Ed Miliband, to David Cameron, to Nick Clegg and to me.

“If we fail next year the party will pick someone better than me. But we won’t.”

Addressing his dismal result in 2005, where he garnered just five per cent of the vote, Mr Farage said: “10 years is a long time in politics – 10 years ago people did not see the Ukip message being relevant.”

Mr Farage will now seek to win the Conservative-held seat against Craig MacKinlay, the former Ukip leader chosen to stand for the Tories, as incumbent Laura Sandys stands down.

He said he has “not one ounce of complacency”, and said that Ukip is making gains by taking votes from across the three main parties.

Ukip’s recent strong performance in Kent in this year’s European elections has made victory in the seat appear a more realistic prospect.

Across the Thanet District Council area Ukip topped the poll, with 16,492 votes, more than double the votes cast for the second-placed Tories.

Speaking to supporters last night, Mr Farage said: “We can’t for one moment afford to be complacent because we swept the board in 2013 and we swept the board here in 2014.

“We did and that was magnificent. But don’t think that the heavy artillery from the Conservative and Labour parties will not be fired on this constituency.

“They will, they will, they will try very, very hard. They don’t want Ukip breaking through into Parliament and they most certainly do not want me breaking through into Parliament.

“Somebody said I’m David Cameron’s worst nightmare. Well, that’s not good enough. I want to be Ed Miliband’s worst nightmare, too.”

Matthew Parris provides More Reasons Why Clacton Suits Ukip, As Both are Going Nowhere!

.

~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.
Hi,
further to my article explaining why Clacton is so perfect a constituency for Ukip at CLICK HERE Matthew Parris clarifies the point showing just how dispossessed the electorate of Clacton are and just how this plays into the hands of those who depend on stirring up fears, hatred and failure amongst the less well educated to feed on that negative energy and dupe the people into believing that they have the answers when all they have is simple presentations and jingo bereft of vision – dreams of ephemeral transiency without substance best sold to those least able to critique or constructively analyse the lack of solid data in the glitzy sales pitch of such as Farage and his cult following in Ukip who like the YES campaigners of Alex Salmond in Scotland increasingly expose their vile bullying and abuse as their desperation for glory and greed for power becomes more transparent.
Tories should turn their backs on Clacton
Matthew Parris
Published at 12:01AM, September 6 2014
The seaside town represents a Britain that’s going nowhere. The future belongs to places with more ambition and drive
At Stratford railway station in East London they’re a bit sheepish about the line to Clacton-on-Sea. Directed to platform 10a, the intending passenger easily finds platform 10; but of 10a there is no trace. It transpires that 10a is elsewhere, down a staircase at the far end of the platform. On 10a there are no train indicators and no staff. But you may just spot a “Clacton” sign on the train as it pulls in.
By the time you get to Clacton, most passengers have fled at intermediate stops. You walk almost alone through a well-kept station built for busier times, past a tidy canteen with a good range of meat pies at £1.50, and past a welcome-to-Clacton artwork constructed sweetly of glazed tiles picturing the resort. A red plastic litter-bin is prominent in the composition.
This is not a dirty or un-self-respecting town. Evidence of local pride and municipal effort is everywhere. The pier and the Princes Theatre struggle gamely on. On September 14 they welcome Ken Dodd and his Diamond Anniversary Happiness Show; later, Nights on Broadway with a group called the Bee Gees Story.
I met nothing but helpfulness there. Clacton-on-Sea is a friendly resort trying not to die, inhabited by friendly people trying not to die. Clacton is the constituency in England and Wales with the highest proportion of retired residents, almost the lowest proportion of residents aged 25-44 and the highest proportion of single elderly person households.
These are not wealthy retired professionals (almost 40 per cent of residents have no qualifications at all) and if you associate tattoos with youth, Clacton will surprise you. Father Time is busy with his scythe here: I counted 19 estate agents on Station Road, and you can get a three-bedroom detached bungalow for £94,995.
Only in Asmara after Eritrea’s bloody war have I encountered a greater proportion of citizens on crutches or in wheelchairs.
Shops tell you so much. Though at Burton’s they are offering “Free shoes when you buy a suit! (from £99)”, Lycra is the textile of choice and I saw not a single woman under 70 in a skirt, still less a dress. I was able to stock up on reading glasses at £1.99, and in Holland & Barrett the “Serious Mass Muscle Gainer” came in bucket-sized black plastic tubs at the checkout for the impulse purchaser. There are ten tattoo parlours and no Waterstones.
Enough. Don’t buy the too-easy media picture of a rancid or untended town, or of bitter people; but understand that Clacton-on-Sea is going nowhere. Its voters are going nowhere, it’s rather sad, and there’s nothing more to say. This is Britain on crutches. This is tracksuit-and-trainers Britain, tattoo-parlour Britain, all-our-yesterdays Britain.
So of course Ukip will do well in the by-election. Pollsters say they’ll win easily, though I found the Tories (busily repainting their constituency office) in defiant mood, and I do wonder if Douglas Carswell’s self-portrait as Man of Honour and Genius will entirely survive the campaign.
My aim, though, is not to deny Ukip its likelihood of victory. They make a good fit for Clacton. Somebody has to represent the static caravans and holiday villages, and the people and places that for no fault of their own are not getting where a 21st-century Britain needs to be going.
Nor do I deny that we Conservatives, if we tried hard enough, could get some of these voters back. There are many in a place like this who might be attracted again to the Tories by a noisy display of hostility towards immigration-and-Europe, political correctness and health-and-safety: hostility to a Britain that has forgotten the joys of Ken Dodd, meat pies, smoking in pubs and the Bee Gees.
No, my aim is to ask this: is that where the Conservative party wants to be? Is it where the Tories need to be if they’re to gather momentum in this century, rather than slowly lose it? Or do we need to be with the Britain that has its career prospects ahead and not behind, that can admire immigrants and want them with us, that doesn’t want to spend its days buying scratchcards and its evenings smoking in pubs, that’s amazed at all the fuss about whether gays should marry, that travels in Europe and would hesitate to let those links go?
I am not arguing that we should be careless of the needs of struggling people and places such as Clacton. But I am arguing — if I am honest — that we should be careless of their opinions.
A besetting sin of democratic politics is that party politicians, like religious evangelists, must seek clients. The weak, the unlucky, the resentful, the fearful, the old and the poor will always be the easiest to enlist as clients, for they have nowhere else to go but into the arms of politicians promising them sympathy.
It’s harder for politicians and priests to enlist successful people, busy people, people who want to go places, because these people are less likely to be looking for the crutches — practical or moral — that politics or religion can offer. So, often without meaning to, a political party seeking not only votes but self-affirmation is drawn towards a town called Hopeless.
This is the terrible, I would say fatal, mistake that the left made in the 20th century with Christian Socialism. Marxian Socialism is about success, not failure, and elevates achievement, not suffering. But the British left lost its way and ended up with the politics of victimhood, subsidy and the soup kitchen.
When Tory canvassers describe as “good areas” the streets where support is strong, they mean “good” in both its senses. But for Labour canvassers their good areas are the bad areas. Ukip, if it prospers, will find the same. More and more, their hopes will lie in Lycra not tweed.
Some of the Tory right want to drag the Conservative party the same way: to invest our political future in the disappointed, the angry, the nostalgic and the fearful. This is not a crazy strategy, because the market in pessimism is easy to capture, and easier to hold on to than the market in optimism; there will always be millions of pessimists.
But the truth from which the right hides is this: you cannot have both. You cannot look like a party for the resentful and still appeal to the cheerful. If you want to win Cambridge you may have to let go of Clacton.
From the train leaving Stratford at platform 10a, you can see Canary Wharf, humming with a sense of the possible. You must turn your back on that if you want to go to Clacton. I don’t, and the Tories shouldn’t.
To view the original article see today’s Times {Now hidden behind a paywall on the internet!}
Dr. Tim Stanley the historian who specialises in the history of America with a new book on Hollywood coming out next May has made some prescient points on Mathew Parris’ smug self satisfaction, right as he may well have been.
The academic Tim Stanley in his immaturity of genuine experience has of course over simplified and taken issue with Parris on the wording Parris presented wherein Parris talks of the people of Clacton as some sort of ‘working class’ seemingly unwilling to go that extra step and talk of the ‘dispossessed’ who have, largely due to educational failure, failed to keep up with society and its changes and technology. That this body of dispossessed may well be decent folk they are no less an easy group to bestir and are those self same people on whom Adolf Hitler built his power base just as Alex Salmond has done in Scotland and Nigel farage is currently doing south of the tartan curtain.
Irresponsibly building on the fears of these people, with no real working solution, is all too easy as Farage has shown with his endless band wagon jumping soft racism and hard core failure to provide a realistic and responsible, let alone honourable, exit and survival strategy. Being rude to those in authority has always been an easy route to the support of those who know they have no hope of ever being amongst tghat elite and it is essential that such as Alex Salmond ensures his following never get wind of his diletante interests and art collection just as despite his intake of fine wines and self indulgence in excellent restaurants Farage ensures his PR photos are of him ostensibly swilling yet another pint of beer along with the chavvery in the pub ‘fag’ in hand:
Dear Matthew Parris: if the Tories abandon the working class to Ukip, they will deserve to lose 2015
I’m writing this blog at midnight: the angry hour. The hour when you’re only awake because you’ve spotted something that infuriates you and – damn it – you have to put every furious thought down. They teach this process in anger management, apparently. Talk through what went wrong from beginning to end and maybe it’ll all make sense.
What went wrong is that Matthew Parris wrote an article for The Times. A very ugly article indeed. He took a trip to Clacton, the seat being contested in a by-election by Tory/Ukip defector Douglas Carswell, and Matthew was not impressed by what he found. He found a bit of Britain that isn’t London.
By the time you get to Clacton, most passengers have fled at intermediate stops. You walk almost alone through a well-kept station built for busier times, past a tidy canteen with a good range of meat pies at £1.50, and past a welcome-to-Clacton artwork constructed sweetly of glazed tiles picturing the resort. A red plastic litter-bin is prominent in the composition.
Yes, it sounds like Hell, Matthew. Not a Starbucks in sight – and car parking spaces that would barely fit a limousine. How our intrepid reporter coped with the natives I cannot say, although it’s quite obvious that he didn’t like them. Really, his language is shockingly rude about people who are – lest we forget – human beings.
Clacton-on-Sea is a friendly resort trying not to die, inhabited by friendly people trying not to die… These are not wealthy retired professionals (almost 40 per cent of residents have no qualifications at all) and if you associate tattoos with youth, Clacton will surprise you. Father Time is busy with his scythe here: I counted 19 estate agents on Station Road, and you can get a three-bedroom detached bungalow for £94,995. Only in Asmara after Eritrea’s bloody war have I encountered a greater proportion of citizens on crutches or in wheelchairs.
The conclusion to all this nastiness? That the Conservatives should abandon Clacton to the Neolithic Ukippers and reach out instead to aspirant urban middle-classes and hard-working immigrants (because anyone who pays less that £1 million for their house has clearly not been working very hard all their life – the peasants).
“I am not arguing,” argues Matthew, “that we should be careless of the needs of struggling people and places such as Clacton. But I am arguing — if I am honest — that we should be careless of their opinions.” So, yes, he is saying that the Tories should be careless of their needs. Because what they need is what they ask for – respect. And Mr Parris can’t bring himself to give that to tattooed simpletons on crutches.
Why am I so angry about all of this? For philosophical and personal reasons. Philosophically, I cannot see that Matthew is a democrat if he thinks national leaders should dismiss an entire class and its opinions. I cannot see that he is a patriot if he dislikes his own people so much. And I cannot see that he is a Tory if he does not feel a responsibility to serve them. After all, the essence of Toryism is to seek to assist all the people regardless of background. It is the Left traditionally that separates people by sectional interest – the desire to become “the masters now”. By contrast, the One Nation Tory tradition seeks to forge a spirit of national community that promises aspiration and compassion for all. Even Margaret Thatcher – yes, Margaret Thatcher – did that. After all, she let those working class people buy their own houses, never privatised the NHS and united the nation in liberating the Falklands. To be a Tory, at its best, is to serve. Not to dismiss and ignore. Conservatism stripped of compassion is just nasty social Darwinism.
And Matthew’s column grinds my gears on a personal level because I, too am “ordinary”. I know the kind of people he’s describing; there are a lot of them in my family. And although I may have grown up into something that could perhaps be described as “exotic”, I’ve retained a deep love of the ordinary. I love seaside towns like Clacton: the piers, the fish’n’chips, the crappy shows (more impersonators of the Bee Gees than there were Bee Gees), the fag ash, the “family tattoo emporiums”, the loud families, the tired old gramps falling asleep on the bench, beer in plastic cups and merry-go-rounds that electrically hum Black Lace classics. It might not be pretty by 5 star London standards – but it’s Britain. Those people who Matthew dismisses built this country. They have survived world wars, recessions, depressions and 16 Eurovision humiliations in a row. They are indomitable – and no Westminster bureaucrats or clever-clogs writers will ever change them. I love them. I love them because I have to as a Christian and I want to as a fellow Briton. We are family. And you don’t turn your back on family.
Matthew seems to imagine that he’s handing out sage advice to David Cameron about how to build a Tory majority, but he’s dead wrong. On the contrary, columns like this suggest to people from my background what they’ve always suspected: that Tories are laughing at them. By and large that isn’t true, but Matthew has come to represent a segment of liberal opinion that defines itself by a perceived superiority to everyone else. And if David Cameron follows that strategy at the next election, he’ll be left with just one segment of the population enthusiastically backing him: Matthew Parris.
Now it’s 12.50am and I must go back to sleep, if I can. I’m still very, very angry. I may well be so for some time.
But I do contend that Matthew Parris most clearly out maneuvers the notably light weight Tim Stanley’s all too simplistic rush to self publicity, with his regular column in The Times:
A Tory schism is now all but inevitable
Douglas Carswell’s defection is part of a strategy to scupper the EU referendum and take over the Conservative party
Never trust a man in love with his own probity. On the BBC yesterday morning Douglas Carswell made three references to himself as “honourable” within 35 seconds. “Putting my principles on the table,” he has claimed. The language should arouse immediate suspicion.
Ignore the weekend’s cooings about Mr Carswell: “honourable man”, “intellect”, “man of principle”, “no ordinary rebel”, etc. Just consider what he has done. Here is a politician who, to get himself elected, wrapped himself in the mantle of the Conservative party, spent years at Westminster undermining the Conservative party and now renounces his party at a moment chosen to inflict maximum injury.
Yet he brays about his principles while admirers gush about his intellect. Where is the principle, where is the intellectual integrity, where is the honour in this? Mr Carswell professes shock that David Cameron hopes to negotiate a European deal that can be recommended to the British people. What other kind of deal does he think a prime minister should aim for?
Mr Cameron never did claim that he wanted to leave the EU. But if the Conservative party has changed at all since Mr Carswell last flew its colours in 2010, it has grown more Eurosceptic, not less.
He is one of those characters who sometimes briefly thrives in the thin soil of Commons philosophising — a stupid person’s thinking person with a gift for making shallow oversimplifications sound wondrously deep. He will find it a sullying business being Ukip’s philosopher king to the man on the Clacton omnibus.
He calls himself a libertarian — and joins a party the limits of whose libertarianism would be to allow smoking in pubs (and, for all I know, bear baiting) on the grounds of personal freedom. He will tire of playing king of the kids for Ukip, and they will tire of him — as happened to Enoch Powell after his defection to the Ulster Unionists.
So much for the man himself. But to scorn the individual is not to trivialise the damage he can do. The damage could be immense. The campaign by the ultras on the Tory right to wreck then remake their party is well on track.
There is a decent chance that Mr Carswell will win his by-election and some possibility that a couple of other Conservative zealots may try to follow him. A “Ukip surge” and the momentum that could be created by a series of awful by-election results for Tories in the months before a general election could be grave. Mr Carswell’s move will hearten 30 or more Conservative MPs on the party’s right; they are with him in spirit already and are waiting for their moment. I fear that moment will come.
Ukip and the Tory irreconcilables are perfectly relaxed about the possibility that Mr Cameron could lose the next election; they do not want the EU referendum that would follow his victory. They want the present Tory leadership to stumble and fall, and, from the internal battle that would follow, they see the emergence of a new kind of party led by a new kind of leader from the anti-European right.
My fellow columnist Tim Montgomerie could not have been more wrong when he wrote in yesterday’s Times Red Box blog that “Ukip voters don’t believe that the Tory leader is serious about the referendum”. The “let’s-get-out-now” brigade in British politics have a very different fear. They fear that Mr Cameron would indeed hold his referendum and win it.
Accordingly they will do all they can to derail this referendum; and they know that if Mr Cameron gets his mandate in next year’s general election, this will be hard to do. They therefore aim to derail the Tory campaign, starting now.
It’s no good us moderates bleating that this could only lead to a Labour victory and no referendum. The right know that. And if a Labour victory (which they believe would be short-lived) is the price that has to be paid for their take-over of the Conservative party, then many would be content to pay it. Their eyes are fixed on the longer view.
I hope, but cannot be confident, that we can stop them. The seismology of British politics awaits a major quake. Ukip and the Tory right aim to trigger this quake. From the rubble they believe a party of the right that looks very like themselves will emerge. The more liberal and centrist Tories, they think, could make common cause with some Liberal Democrats and even Blairite Labour politicians. Their ultimate aim, then, is for Ukip and the Tories to merge under the banner of a new Conservative party.
This is a logical, if odious, plan. It may prove achievable. But it’s not a plan that — for all their bluster about honour and principle — the irreconcilables dare admit to. So they will continue to protest their loyalty but moan about Mr Cameron’s weaknesses, casting him — he whose personal ratings are well ahead of their party’s — as the problem and remaining ready with the sly shin kick or the sudden access of personal conscience whenever Tory fortunes seem to be rising. Mr Carswell’s “principled” resignation is part of that strategy.
I now see schism in the Conservative party as all but inevitable, whether in government after 2015 or out. Perhaps it will be healthy for democracy. There are plenty of nutters out there and maybe the nutters do need a party to represent them, though the slow-dawning disappointment that awaits the Tory right in the coming decades is that there will never be quite enough nutters to form a government.
For the rest of us Conservatives there emerges just one imperative, and Douglas Carswell’s departure should fix it in our minds. We must have nothing to do with these people. No concessions to Ukip, no more rightward creep, no fluttering of eyelashes and no dogwhistled calls for anyone to come back. These people don’t want a compromise — Mr Cameron has already thrown them too much meat — and the more you give them, the more they’ll demand.
Douglas Carswell’s departure is an early warning of what may be to come. So now is the moment to dig in. If a schism is coming, we moderates must draw our own battle lines. And about this there must be no question: we aren’t shifting. We, the old, battered, wary, pragmatic, often-compromised, one-nation Conservative party, are the Tories. If divorce looms we must make sure the breakaway zealots don’t get the house, the car, the company, the client list, the trademark or the brand.
So I finish as I started, with this message to Mr Carswell and his crew. Go to Ukip by all means. And stay there.
So Will Ukip’s Biggest Backer, Stuart Wheeler, Dump Farage’s Cult following & status & Back Boris Johnson, having raised the profile, and even possibly installing Douglas Carswell at leader of the Ukip rump to facilitate an amalgamation?
.
.
Hi,
the body language of Nigel Farage, in the walk about in Clacton, belies his braying tones of confidence.
Nigel Farage, leader of Ukip
It does seem all too plain why Farage & his cult may well look worried!
Clearly Douglas Carswell stands every possibility of outshining Nigel Farage’s 21 years of failure to get elected as an MP at Westminster by riding on his Tory popularity that gave him a 12,500 majority in his Clacton constituency. A constituency all too well suited to Ukip and their personality cult as shown at CLICK HERE.
Well may Farage look worried as the last time Ukip had an MP representing them at Westminster was when Bob Spink defected to Ukip also from the Tories and also from an Essex constituency where Essex man seems all too willing to succumb to the blandishments of Ukip’s brand of personality cult soft racism and upholding of arcane values of anti homosexuality, chauvenism and outdated fantasies of what they claim are British values – which are all too distant from the truth when one looks at Ukip’s track record of lies, corruption and bullying, so redolent of the SNP on whom they are so closely modelled it would seem!
It was not long before Bob Spink realised the folly of his ways and scrabbled to disassociate himself from Farage’s style of populism, for the sake of his personal reputation which fell in tatters at the next election!
These were not the only slaps in the face Nigel Farage has had to go with the embarrassment that the only seats Ukip has ever come within a sniff of at Westminster were gifted by the Tory voters of Essex – Now we see Ukip’s biggest backer the professional gambler and old Etonian Stuart Wheeler, who has been attributed the accolade of having engineered Douglas Carswell’s defection to Ukip, though in reality that may have much more to do with a fit of pique and the hissy fit of a thwarted drama quenn when denied a room in the main hotel at the Tory conference than much else.
Though it is widely rumoured that a phone call to Stuart Wheeler the night before he de3fected may well have clinched the deal spurred on by a promise that his electoral expenses would be covered by the millionaire and even the promise of either the clandestine support and funding of a bid for leadership or even a display of overt support to become the leader to make Ukip more palatable to the Tories in a sell out as partners in a coalition when Boris Johnson assumes the mantle of leader should David Cameron be forced out for his bungling of the Scottish referendum or his failure to gain a clear majority in the General Election of 2015.
It can not make sleeping east for Nigel Farage whether at The East India Club or sleeping around EUrope any too east to know that even with his cult following Ukip’s most notable backer ever would seemingly dump him in a heartbeat were Boris Johnson to come to power or challenge for the leadership of the Tories.
Dented as this must leave Farage’s huge ego so many members of his cult are enriched by his position as leader or have hopes of preferment to the gravy train in his gift:
EU MEP Cartoon 03It is all to likely that this will, as when Bob Spink quit in disgust, end in tears – It is even more likely that as Ukip has no room for any ego but Farage’s it will end with blood on the carpet under which for all too long Farage and his cult devotees has swept their soiled behaviour!
Be minded that over the years Farage has built a dedicated veritable army who largely oppose the rabble of ner do wells he has gathered around him, in his efforts to try to shine CLICK HERE or HERE
It is becoming ever more clear the media have little but contempt for Farage using him as a usefull pawn with which to bait the Tories save the likes of Russia Today, Alex Jones, Fox News and various conspiracy THEORISTS who find increasingly his style of schoolboy sneer and bully politics apeals to the underbelly of society just as Alex Salmond does in Scotland!
Increasingly both Farage and Salmond are dependent on those who seek the destruction of these United Kingdoms and are all too willing to bully and bray to achieve it, taking us back in time to a period of divisin and ensuring hatred and poverty if they achieve their aims – I have campaigned tirelessly in the way I am able to oppose membership of the EU and to extricate Britain from its malign clutches only to find that after 21 years of climbing the greasy pole to get their snouts in the trough Ukip have still not the vaguest concept of an honourable exit and survival strategy relative to the EU leaving EUroSceptics and EUroRealists alike bereft of a party to support, that stands the vaguest chance of winning a referendum to Leave_The_EU in the face of the absolute inevitability of the use of FUD (Fear, Uncertaint & Doubt) and the relentless campaigning of the political elite that seeks to keep their snots in the troughs on the odious EU Gravy Train.
I would rejoin Tories… but only with Boris as a leader, says mastermind who plotted coup from his castle
  • Stuart Wheeler lit the fuse on the ‘Carswell coup’ over a secret lunch
  • He has been wining and dining a number of dissatisfied Tory MPs
  • Former Tory said he would not return to the party with Cameron as leader
  • But that could change if Boris took over and brought in Ukip-friendly policies
By Glen Owen for The Mail on Sunday
The Ukip donor who helped to mastermind the stunning defection of Douglas Carswell would consider switching back to the Conservatives if Boris Johnson became leader, he said yesterday.
Stuart Wheeler, the multi-millionaire former Tory stalwart who lit the fuse on the ‘Carswell coup’ over a secret lunch, would not return to the Conservatives with David Cameron as leader.
But that could change if Boris took over and introduced Ukip-friendly policies.
Wheeler dealer: Mr Wheeler, left, has been wining and dining disaffected Tory MPs – a process which culminated in last week’s bombshell announcement by Douglas Carswell, right, that he was defecting
Mr Wheeler, a former Tory donor who was expelled from the party in 2009 after diverting his funding to Ukip, has been wining and dining disaffected Tory MPs – a process which culminated in last week’s bombshell announcement.
One senior Tory, Mr Wheeler now reveals, was even wooed by being invited to his 17th Century Jacobean castle.
Dan Hannan, an MEP socially and ideologically close to Mr Carswell, has stayed at the Grade I listed Chilham Castle in Kent where Mr Wheeler lives with wife Tessa and their three daughters, including the Vogue model Jacquetta.
In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Mr Wheeler explained how he had held court with ‘potential defectors’ at discreet lunch venues.
‘I wrote to about ten Eurosceptic Tory MPs saying “Would you like to have lunch with me? Just the two of us, an out-of-the-way restaurant, we won’t be seen. The only other person who will know is Nigel”. And Douglas was one of them.’
He dined with Mr Carswell two years ago at Central London’s Pearl restaurant, which food critics say offers a ‘sensual dining experience’ involving dishes such as scallops, squid  and lamb Wellington.
Mr Wheeler said he would not rejoin the Tories while David Cameron was leader
But he said that might change if Boris got the top job
Conditions: Multi-millionaire Mr Wheeler said that he would not return to the Conservatives with David Cameron as leader. But that could change if Boris, right, took over and introduced Ukip-friendly policies
‘We discussed everything to do with the EU and Cameron’s leadership,’ said Mr Wheeler.  ‘I don’t think I said “How about defecting?” but I would have said “Would you like to meet Nigel Farage?” And now he has.
‘My guess is that he only made his final decision a fortnight ago.’
Mr Wheeler, 79, who made his £90 million fortune in the spread betting industry, refuses to divulge the names of the other MPs he lunched – including two he believes are ‘close to’ following Mr Carswell in defecting – but he is an admirer of former Defence Secretary Liam Fox, former Shadow Home Secretary David Davis and rebellious Tory MP Jesse Norman.
He invited former Tory deputy chairman Lord Ashcroft, but the peer declined on the grounds that it would ‘not be appropriate’.
Mr Wheeler said: ‘There are a lot of Tories I admire. An MEP I greatly admire is Dan Hannan. He has been to stay with me in Kent,’ said Mr Wheeler, adding that he couldn’t remember what was discussed but: ‘I am sure we discussed the EU and everything like that’.
Mr Hannan stated last week that he did not intend to defect to Ukip.
No 10 is furious with Mr Wheeler, arguing that his ‘turncoat’ actions are helping to split the right-wing vote and could allow Ed Miliband to win next year’s General Election.
But Mr Wheeler refutes their analysis. ‘I don’t think it is going to be like that. Labour is terrified of us.
There are a lot of Labour constituencies, particularly in the North, where we are a close second and the Tories are a long way behind – it would be greatly to the advantage of the Tories if we take the seat. So I don’t think it is likely to let Labour in, as the Tories are so keen to put about’.
What could the Tories do to persuade him to return to the fold and bring Ukip voters with him?
‘Well, perhaps if Mr Cameron said “You are right, Stuart, we should be campaigning to leave the EU and introduce grammar schools and I was wrong about climate change [existing]”.
‘But that’s something which is undoubtedly not going to happen. And I think I would prefer not to have David Cameron as a leader either.’
He sees an obvious, stand-out alternative.
‘Boris Johnson would be best for getting votes. However, him being leader is not enough in itself – if Boris introduced those policies [on the EU, grammar schools and climate change] then I should think there would quite likely be a deal between the Conservatives and Ukip. But that is not going to happen’.
The businessman said he also rates former Environment Secretary Owen Paterson and Jesse Norman as potential Tory leaders.
Mr Wheeler –  who added that he regards Mr Carswell as a potential future Ukip leader – knows that the ‘Carswell coup’ has caused panic in No 10. ‘We have got them rattled,’ he said. ‘They should be rattled.’
Ukip MEPs urged to breach allowance rules
Divert Brussels payments to party, says key donor, as critics say funds plea could send them to jail
  • Sunday 9 March 2014 22.03 GMT
A leading member of the UK Independence party, which has railed against the European “gravy train”, has demanded its MEPs contribute £10,000 each from their parliamentary allowances and salaries towards the costs of the party’s British headquarters or risk being deselected.
Alan Bown, a party donor who sits on its national executive committee, wrote to Ukip representatives in Brussels in 2011 suggesting they should be “good value for money” and divert EU cash to the party’s headquarters or face the sack, according to leaked documents. He pointedly added that thousands of pounds of EU allowances could be claimed without submitting receipts.
Party leader Nigel Farage and the party’s national executive committee subsequently put pressure on the MEPs to pay more to support the running of the party, sources said. Ukip sources say MEPs are still placed under “immense pressure” to contribute to the party.
Bown’s proposals prompted a furious response from the party’s MEPs, who feared they would be at risk of breaking the law if they diverted funds. Another leaked email shows that the party’s immigration spokesman, Gerard Batten, warned Ukip officials that he and other MEPs could face jail if they carried out Bown’s demands.
The disclosures are confirmation that the party’s MEPs have been under increasing pressure to divert their allowances into the party’s UK operations, in breach of EU rules.
EU documents state that allowances “are only eligible when spent on activities and objects which are directly linked to the office of a member of the European parliament”. Bown, a former bookmaker, sent an email to national executive members in January 2011 with an attached document titled “MEPs’ Financial Contributions to the Party“.
He complained that MEPs had failed to contribute to the party and pointed out that it costs £125,000 to get each of them elected, questioning whether they were good value for money.
Arguing that the party’s headquarters, Lexdrum House in Devon, spends a lot of money getting MEPs elected, he added: “In my opinion the MEPs have a clear duty to help finance Lexdrum House.”
The email points out that to get on a Ukip selection list, MEP candidates have to sign a “code of conduct” document complying with Bown’s demand that MEPs “provide substantial financial support to the central party out of income”.
A version of the code of conduct from 2008 has been leaked to the Guardian. It says the party’s MEPs pledge to “submit to oversight and act on advice from the party regarding the use of parliament allowances and expenses”.
In his email, Bown, 71, says: “Most MEPs draw a salary of £80K+ per year plus generous expenses of approximately £320K some of which does not require receipts.”
He said he had spoken to fellow Ukip peer and former party leader Lord Pearson and suggested he had agreed that this year’s reselected candidates should be judged in part on their payments to the party.
“Before an MEP is allowed to stand for re-election for 2014, the NEC should look at their record over the previous 5 years to see what he or she had achieved and particularly their financial contributions to the party.
“The NEC reserves the right to blackball any MEP from standing again if their record was poor.”
Bown’s email prompted an angry response from a number of MEPs, insiders said. A few days later, Batten, who has called for Muslims in Britain to sign a pledge of allegiance, sent an email claiming that following Bown’s advice would risk a criminal record and jail.
“The staff and office allowance combined is £253k,” said Batten. “This money can only be spent according to the rules on staff and offices. Only £42k of that does not require ‘receipts’. To use it for personal or political purposes is against the rules. Are you suggesting we should use it illegally? Are you suggesting we should risk prison to help the party financially?”
Two weeks after the email exchange, some MEPs met Bown, Farage and Stuart Wheeler at the Farmers Club in Whitehall, where they were informed that they were each under pressure to increase contributions to the party.
The party argues the EU is a waste of money and calls for Britain’s withdrawal.
It comes amid concern that the party’s rapid growth in popularity and expensive European parliament election campaign is not being supported by a corresponding rise in income.
It was reported by the Times on Saturday that the EU authorities have been asked to investigate whether some of Ukip’s staff in the UK are being paid from EU money, in breach of regulations.
The disclosures will prove embarrassing for the party as it tries to portray itself as a realistic and influential political force. Some party officials have privately voiced concern that money pledged by Paul Sykes, the former Tory donor, has not come through when they need to fund the European election campaign. Neil Hamilton, the former Tory MP, told the Observer this month: “”So far we haven’t seen the colour of his money.”
Ukip has come under increasing scrutiny over its alleged misuse of EU expenses. Tom Wise, the party’s former MEP for East of England, was jailed for expenses fraud after paying himself £36,000.
Two of the party’s senior members have repaid more than £37,000 meant for office staff after diverting it to party workers based in the UK.
Nikki Sinclaire, MEP for the West Midlands, told the Guardian last year that Farage told her the party would not be able to gain access to extra funds meant for a new political grouping without her support.
The party denied her claims.
Batten told the Guardian on Friday that he has never broken the rules.
“My donations to the party are made out of my personal income,” he said. Ukip said: “Alan Bown is an extremely generous donor to Ukip and is one of 16 members of the party’s NEC. He is well known for seeking to encourage other members of the party including MEPs to seek to emulate his own outstanding levels of generosity. All of our MEPs conduct their financial affairs honestly and comply with the rules covering allowances and expenses. Any donations they make to the party come from their post-tax salaries.”
Bown is in the US and did not respond to requests for a comment.
Do Demetri Marchessini & Stuart Wheeler as donors to UKIP & Nigel Farage  ALL Agree? Clearly in UKIP they are not alone in openly denigrating and abusing women and homosexuals!!
Hi,
when will it dawn on Nigel Farage it is not about what he says but about what he does and the example he sets – it is all very well having the title ‘leader’ but without the ability clearly your party will never develope beyond a cult.UKIP may be a very successful cult already but it is making the move from the cult of today with a ruthless, self serving, dictatorial ‘leader’ and having a competent team and not just fans who act as praise singers in return for prefferment. It is not just the general public who would find it hard to name a single solitary person in UKIP other than Nigel Farage and Gorfrey Bloom but news editors and media presenters struggle much beyond two or maybe three people to call on in the party.
Of course Farage has dictated in the party for almost 20 years and thus his party is made up of people who are no challenge to him who know when to praise him and who he wants destroyed!
The lack of any basic program of training or example from the leadership clique is why UKIP ends up in the headlines getting bad publicity time after time, as the better informed will realise and which may well account for UKIP’s abysmal and consistent failure in General Elections and other national domestic elections where after 20 years UKIP still has less than 150 councillers and no one of public note or stature.
Farage berating people like Godfrey Bloom, Marta Andreasen and David Bannerman gives you the measure of the man since each was his own golden wonderkid selected and promoted by him personally without due process or meaningful democracy!
Just as it was at Farage’s personal demand that he set up and ran his Pan EU EFD Political Group of extremists, fruitcakes, nutters, racists, anti homosexuals and advocates of violence where UKIP aids and assists them both financially and with added clout, or so he claims!
Farage can indeed turn a ‘smart’ sound bite just as can any ‘Delboy’ or spiv but iot is not a matter of what he says – lies though much of it is, plausible as it may sound but what UKIP as a Party does and achieves and to date that amounts to not a lot.
It is also worth noting that Nigel Farage has fallen out with over 50% of those he chose as candidates who were elected! Blaming others for ones own failings is the sign of a particularly weak and insecure man!
No more ‘Walter Mittys’ allowed in UKIP, says Nigel Farage
Ukip leader Nigel Farage said he would no longer tolerate ‘Walter Mitty’ characters creating embarassment for his party
Nigel Farage, the leader of Ukip
Nigel Farage has admitted that Ukip made mistakes in its early days by letting in “Walter Mitty” characters who have damaged the party’s reputation.
The Ukip leader urged his candidates to “professionalise” ahead of the European elections in May after a string of blunders last week led to widespread ridicule.
He said Ukip must get better at screening out new members who might prove to be “disappointments” and bring the party into disrepute.
Speaking to The Times, he said Ukip had a “struggle with talent in the early days” but added: “It’s very natural that a newish party will attract all sorts of people.”
He described some former members of Ukip as “Walter Mittys seeking a role in politics which, in the end, they will let down not just us but themselves with”.
Last week Ukip councillor David Silvester sparked fury by blaming the recent flooding on the Government’s decision to legalise gay marriage.
Mr Silvester accused David Cameron of acting “arrogantly against the Gospel” and added: “It is his fault that large swathes of the nation have been afflicted by storms and floods.”
Day later Mr Farage himself provoked a wave of anger by claiming women with children were worth less to city firms than men.
He courted further controversy by labelling the ban on handguns in the wake of the Dunblane massacre “crackers”.
It emerged yesterday that Godfrey Bloom, who was expelled from the party last autumn after describing women as “sluts”, taunted a disabled Oxford student by asking him: “Are you Richard III or not?”
He compared David Browne, an undergraduate from Belfast, to the medieval king who suffered from a spine deformity during an Oxford Union debate last Thursday.
Mr Farage called for greater discipline among the Ukip members and said he would not tolerate further embarrassment from candidates voicing eccentric views.
He plans to set up day-long assessment centres to find top quality candidates for next year’s general election to prevent people who are “just about the odd barmy opinion” being picked.
“It’s really to try and work out whether these are reliable, steady, solid people,” he said.
“We must together be campaigning on similar issues,” he said.
“I need us to have a disciplined election machine.”
But he insisted he did not want to create “a new Labour outfit where they’ve all got pagers on their belts and they’re told what to say and think.”
Mr Farage believes a third of Ukip’s supporters are former Labour voters and is keen to extend his influence among blue collar workers.
But the former stockbroker risks alienating himself from working class voters by arguing against limits on bankers’ bonuses.
He said: “We don’t need official caps or limits being placed on these things. Don’t forget that quite a lot of this comes back to people in terms of pension incomes and all the rest of it.
“The very thought that the bureaucrats in Brussels now set the limits we can pay the highest earning people in London is truly astonishing.”
Ukip also boasts supporters from among the City elite.
Last year Mayfair-based investment group Harwood Capital donated £50,000 to the party.
Mr Farage argued the salaries offered to top local government officials and think-tanks are of more concern than bankers’ pay.
He said: “The numbers of people now working in local authorities, working in the quangos, who are earning a hundred thousand pounds a year with quite remarkable pension deals compared to people in the private sector are somewhere where really big savings need to be made.”
On the back of Farage’s foolish comments we realise that it has no meaning as he is trying to sort out his own mess as he has had near absolute power in the party, unchallenged by anyone of competence who remains and on the very day he has been published with his big words we note the actual actions in his party:
Nigel Farage’s attempts to distance Ukip from the extreme views of its members fell apart this morning after a major party donor took out an extraordinary newspaper advert describing homosexuality as an “abomination”.
Demetri Marchessini, who donated £10,000 to Ukip last year, paid the Telegraph for a bizarre “open letter” to columnist Libby Purves complaining about a recent article she had written in the Times.
In a long and rambling text, Marchessini complains about Purves’ description of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s policies on homosexuality as bigoted.
“There are at least 12 places in the bible that describe homosexuality as an ‘abomination’,” he wrote.
“What Miss Purves and many others cannot grasp is the fact that when our government made homosexuality legal, it did not make it moral.
“Governments can decide on laws, but only God decides on morality. How can anybody, let alone Miss Purvis (sic), tell people what they should think about homosexuality?”
The letter contains a lengthy complaint about Purves’ use of the word “homophobic” which he claims is “a phoney word” which “cannot be found in any dictionary”.
The word has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary for at least two decades.
The donor described the word as a combination of Latin and Greek roots, adding: “Anyone who uses it is uneducated.”
In fact, both ‘homo’ and ‘phobia’ have Greek roots.
This is not the first time Marchessini has caused trouble for Ukip. Last year he hit the headlines after claiming that unwed mothers “should be given a good smack” and claiming that date rape allegations “cannot be taken seriously”.
“As there is no violent act, it is difficult to know whether any rape took place,” he wrote.
“The woman’s allegation of rape means nothing.  Women have been making such allegations since the beginning of time.”
He also published a book titled “Women in Trousers: A Rear View” in which he claimed that women wearing trousers were committing “hostile behaviour – they are deliberately dressing in a way that is opposite to what men would like”.
A spokesperson for Ukip said they condemned Marchessini’s opinions on trousers.
This may sound outrageous but do bear in mind who Nigel Farage CHOSE as his associates in the EFD Group and do bear in mind the similarity of put down of women between that of Demitri Marchessini and Stuart Wheeler’s denigration of women as chess and poker players, Godfrey Bloom (Farage’s chosen one & flat mate) and his comments about sluts and cleaning behind fridges, and Nigel Farage’s own comments that have in the last week incensed many women! Not to mention the allegations of rape within the party which are still being covered up nd the young lady in question being bullied and intimidated so that there is no meaningful inquiry and police action.
Hi,
a brief sampling of today’s UKIP PR supplied by Google shows the party to be in disaray yet again demeaning the Leave-The-EU cause as so often before as with:
TOWLER, Gawain 05 advertNow we note their PR Guru Gawain Towler has been selected as a candidate to stand to represent UKIP in the EU elections despite early debacles brought about by his libertine life style and abject failure to manage the UKIP Press Office to much success as displayed by Google alerts today:
Unsurprisingly it is the Telegraph which exposes the idiocy and inaccuracy of Stuart Wheeler’s old style sexism:
Telegraph.co.uk
There’s no getting away from the fact that poker is a male-dominated game. In the main event of the 2013 World Series of Poker – the game’s world
UKIP’s Press Officer would seem to have failed YET AGAIN to manage either UJIP or the media with any competence no doubt too busy persuing his own ambitions whether in tewrms of his varied perversions or self interest in persuit of a position as a UKIP MEP candidate.
Let us not forget his various falsehoods put to the press and Twitter followers that he has in the past had to retract and his role in the apparent cover-up efforts of UKIP when faced with allegations of sexual abuse and ABH even possibly rape of a young woman who attended their party conference alleged to have been carried out by SH (I understand SW’s name was maliciously added, in all too UKIP style of dishonest defamation, by a rival seeking to defame him!).
Perhaps it is unfair to point out yet again just how extremist UKIP is, with its vile racist, anti homosexual, anti Jewish associates in THEIR CHOSEN Pan EU EFD political Group
One need only glance through UKIP’s chosen prospective MEP list to realise just how bereft of acceptable candidates of any gravitas or leadership skills the party is and even though they can be expected to attract sufficient protest votes to possibly even increase the number of MEPs with whom, based on track record, Nigel Farage is likely to fall out with at least 1/3rd.!
Although UKIP supporters have increased recently with the effective demise of that other extremist party the BNP yet their results in the local elections were risible with a mere 149 councillors elected out of some 1,700+ and of those elected a number have been forced to withdraw due to their odious and unreliable behaviour – UKIP is no closer to gaining a single MP and even in by-elections founders far short of the possibility of electoral success – despite by-elections being a constant venue for protest votes and place incumbents at a disadvantage.
UKIP repeatedly shows its lack of leadership and the criminality of some on its NEC and amongst its claque of supporters – Now, having failed to be selected as an MEP candidate due possibly to the publicity of this web site and of others the liar and cheat Neil Hamilton is tipped to take a leading role in Farage’s corrupt and extremist self serving party!
UKIP Seemingly Specialising in Thieves, Cheats, Liars & Bigots! The list is embarrassingly long and previous all too notable!!
.
Hi,
many readers will have noted my TWITTER of yesterday!
TWITTER N.I.Bs.
Seems Den Dover the crook repaid £446K falsely claimed expenses now on UKIP MEP list in SE! With Hamilton, Andreasen frauds! UKIP pick them!
The weather was much too nice yesterday to fossik around and see what others have made of it but this morning the showers provide ample search time ;-(I note that
had TWEETED on the subject:
So disgraced former Tory MEP, Den Dover (), is standing to become a UKIP MEP alongside . Shocked? Nope.
as had others!& Milton had blogged on the subject:
Tory MEP Expenses Cheat Switches to UKIP
Milton July 28, 2013 2
Den Dover is a former Tory MEP who was forced to pay back hundreds of thousands of pounds in expenses. Mr Dover’s expulsion was personally ordered by David Cameron and his offences were originally reported by a jubilant UKIP.
Imagine Milton’s surprise when a ‘Densmore Dover’ appeared on the UKIP South East speaking list and took part in the South East UKIP MEP hustings.
Nigel Farage was caught boasting about his large expenses bill, while UKIP MEP Tom Wise was jailed for expenses fraud.
Other notable disgraced Tories who are now running for UKIP include Neil Hamilton, who was reported to have been heavily implicated in the cash for questions scandal.
When UKIP urged Tories to ‘come home’ Milton didn’t think they meant it quite like this…
It seem UKIP with its present lack of competent, ethical or credible leadership, strategy, tactics or ‘Exit & Survival Plan’ is all too willing to show just how amoral and irresponsible the bulk of their members are – not just by setting up a thoroughly dishonest and corrupt selection process that puts control in the hands of the self serving clique surrounding their ONLY performer of any note – Nigel Farage but by drawing up a list of cheats and crooks as candidates:
Most will by now be aware that Neil Hamilton the disgraced Tory MP is already in situ:
A liar and a cheat
Neil Hamilton, the disgraced former minister, yesterday walked away in humiliation from a £10 million libel suit against the Guardian over the “cash for questions” scandal hours before the case was due to start today.
The former trade minister abandoned the case and agreed to pay some of the Guardian’s costs after a bitter two-year battle. He had recruited 421 Conservative MPs and peers, including Lady Thatcher, Lord Archer and cabinet members to change a 300-year-old law, which had prevented him, as an MP, bringing his action.
Ian Greer, the parliamentary lobbyist, also dropped his claim, part of the same libel suit, just minutes before a legal deadline to do so. He, too, agreed to pay some of the paper’s costs.
The Guardian stated on October 20, 1994, that Mr Hamilton had received thousands of pounds for asking parliamentary questions for Mohamed Al Fayed’s Harrods group. Mr Greer, who had been retained by Mr Al Fayed, was identified as the middleman.
Another MP, Tim Smith, resigned his post as a Northern Ireland minister after he was accused in the same article of taking undeclared cash. He immediately admitted the Guardian story was true. Mr Hamilton, MP for Tatton, had instead tried to tough it out before resigning under pressure from Mr Major.
The settlement, on the eve of what was labelled the libel trial of the century, came after a dramatic weekend of legal developments. Those began when the government disclosed crucial documents to the Guardian. The papers led to Mr Greer and Mr Hamilton falling out, and a conflict of interest developing. Mr Greer’s accounts were also in the newspaper’s possession.
The Guardian also served on the men’s lawyers three statements from employees of Mr Al Fayed. They said Mr Hamilton and Mr Greer regularly called for envelopes stuffed with £50 notes in return for parliamentary lobbying.
Alan Rusbridger, editor of the Guardian, said: “The decision by Neil Hamilton and Ian Greer must be one of the most astonishing legal cave-ins in the history of the law of libel.”
He called for the trial papers to be examined by John Major, Sir Gordon Downey, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, and the Inland Revenue.
Although hampered by the law on what evidence it can publish, the Guardian today reveals the extent of Mr Hamilton’s covert links with Mr Greer. It also details the network of MPs linked to Mr Greer, including Mr Smith, Sir Michael Grylls, chairman of the backbench trade and industry committee, Sir Peter Hordern, MP for Horsham, and Sir Andrew Bowden, MP for Brighton Kemptown.
It was because the Guardian had subpoenaed Mr Major and Michael Heseltine to give evidence in the case that the government handed over key documents to the newspaper’s lawyers, Geoffrey Robertson, QC, and Geraldine Proudler. It would have been the first time this century a serving prime minister had appeared in the libel courts.
The trial would have re-opened the vexed question of parliamentary sleaze during the Tory party conference, and only a year after the government had made strenuous efforts to bury the issue. It implemented the Nolan Committee report and appointed a new Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to handle complaints about MPs.
Of the embarrassing climb-down by both men, Mr Rusbridger said: “Both Hamilton and Greer knew that the evidence the Guardian had obtained would have blown their action out of the water and revealed a pattern of parliamentary sleaze more far reaching than anyone had ever imagined.
“The Guardian has never doubted the truth of its original story. We would have produced damning evidence of Mr Hamilton and Mr Greer’s lack of integrity if the case had proceeded. No doubt that is why they dropped the action.
“The Greer accounts and the government documents tell an outrageous story of corruption which the public should know but which we are prevented, for legal reasons, from publishing.”
Mr Hamilton said he was ‘devastated’ at having to withdraw. He claimed he was innocent, but because of the conflict of interest with Mr Greer, each had to instruct new solicitors and counsel.
“The consequence of this is that the trial would have had to have been postponed to enable new sets of lawyers to go through the huge volume of papers and prepare the case afresh at enormously increased cost.”
His costs were already £150,000, and he did not have the cash to continue.
Mr Greer said: “I would want to continue on a matter of principle, but I have had to take a sensible commercial decision and I am happy a compromise has been reached.”
A spokesman for Mr Al Fayed said: “He was looking forward to telling the court of his experience of dealing with a number of Conservative MPs who describe themselves as “honourable members”. He will be sending his papers on the matter to Sir Gordon Downey.”
Downing Street last night insisted that the end of the libel action was purely a “matter between Mr Hamilton and the Guardian”.
Damning evidence
Sometimes he (Mr Greer) would ask me bluntly whether Mr Al Fayed had his money ready.
Mr Hamilton was as persistent as Mr Greer, if not more so, in asking for his envelope.
• Mohamed Al Fayed’s ex-personal assistant
I remember on several occasions that prior to a meeting with Mr Hamilton, Mr Al Fayed would make a remark… that he was coming to collect his money and would prepare an envelope for him with a bundle of £2,500 (in) notes in my presence.
• Mr Al Fayed’s secretary
On at least two occasions when I was sitting at the front desk, an envelope was brought down to me from Mr Al Fayed’s office and I was informed that Mr Hamilton would be stopping by to collect the envelope.
• Mr Al Fayed’s security man.
Why would UKIP possibly wish to add to their long list of self serving liars, abusers, drunks and cheats like Tom Wise, Stuart Agnew, Clive Page, Annabelle Fuller, David Bannerman, Derek Clark, Mark Croucher, Mick McGough, Andrew Smith, Graham Booth, Douglas Denny, Marta Andreasen, Godfrey Bloom etc. even their showman supreme Nigel Farage has fallen foul of the law & with Jeffrey Titford was ordered to repay money falsely claimed, not to mention a long string of his defunct companies and voluntary agreements regarding debts!
Just why would anyone in their right mind wish to add to the pond life at the help of UKIP with such an odious and corrupt specimen as Den Dover – is it just that UKIP are willing to provide a refuge for dishonest Tories thrown out of the party, when they make such a dishonest song and dance (that fools no one) about banning ex members of other parties!
The Tories were well rid of Neil Hamilton & Den Dover – what next for UKIP Jeffrey Archer and a lifetime membership for Stuart Hall?
Already UKIP is embroiled in various issues of sexual abuse, including Court Judgements against them! We even note the allegations about UKIP’s sometime PR guru Max Clifford and the much boasted of perversions of Gawain Towler such that one wonders just how safe anyone would be in association with some of UKIP’s leading lights, in so far as it has any!
Just why would ANY organisation want Den Dover or Neil Hamilton and I note in the scrabble for ‘celebs’ few have heard of Jon Gaunt is doing all he can to disrupt the Werst Midlands and Delingpole who is tipped for the East Midlands pitched up at the West Midlands hustings!
Based on UKIP’s track record it must be a relief to lesser members that Jimmy Saville is dead or it is all too likely he would be added to the UKIP MEP list!
Little wonder that their party funder, the professional gambler Stuart Wheeler, is betting against UKIP but has taken political bets due to the long odds that UKIP will get maybe 2 MPs at the next election!
Why he thinks UKIP will get anyone elected in a General Election is clearly a gamble deserving long odds as on form to date they have never been anywhere near getting anyone elected in a General Election and tyheir 147 elected Councillors is far from notable out of 1,700+ UKIP candidates who stood and with not a single elected Mayor nor Police el supremo they seem only of note to the gullible andf protest voters!
Lets face it even Stuart Wheeler knew UKIP were untrustworthy and was not prepared to let them have access to any of his money unless he was in total control as treasurer, an office he fills in his own interest NOT the interest of the party or its members!
To QUOTE A Circular being widely distributed in UKIP circles:
Letter Begins:
This missive is primarily intended for UKIP members living in the SE of England, though regions still to hold their own selection meetings would be well advised to heed what is written below.
We had all rather hoped that with the re-organisation of the way in which Ukip is run and its business conducted, the selection of candidates for the Euro Elections next year would be above board.
In my humble opinion the process of selecting candidates to represent UKIP should be rather like Julius Ceaser’s wife:
‘not only should she be above board but she should be seen to be above board.’
Who, therefore, is selecting candidates here in the South East?  The answer may surprise you, and you may reach the conclusion that the intended format for your meeting will leave an unpleasant taste in your mouths.  You see, at each meeting (which we are told is to be more of a public speaking competition rather than a proper hustings) there are to be three votes to oversee each of the 21 candidates.  The casting of one of these votes will be the responsibility of 20 (only) of the audience of SE Members at this Saturday’s conference in Woking, selected at random – hopefully.
[The total votes given for each candidate by the ’20’ will be counted at the end of the day and averaged out solely by the Chairman, Roger Bird.]
  • Will this process be transparent? Probably not based upon past experience.
  • Will candidates be permitted to oversee the count? If not, why not?
The responsibility for the casting of the remaining two thirds of the votes – ie two votes – will be in the hands of just two assessors: Mr John Moran and Mr Harry Aldridge.
To state that Mr Moran is an old chum of Farage is understating the case. Mr Moran has been a side-kick of Mr Farage in almost every tactic, trick, scheme, intrigue and machination since Mr Farage began to build his career with Ukip. He was involved in the Ashford Call Centre, where nearly £1m disappeared into a black hole and where an audit was refused (see additional info lower down this page).
The choice of Mr Moran for the panel is akin to asking a junior appointee of Stalin’s Central Committee to appraise the performance of his boss, Joseph Stalin, and the latter’s potential rivals with total impartiality.
Next there is, Harry Aldridge, a twenty something youngster with ambitions to make a career within Ukip. How impartial is the lad?  What discussions has he held with his boss?  What discussions has Harry held with Mr Moran?  Will he deny that he’s already been promised 2nd place on the SE candidate list?  If so then the whole selection process is nothing but a deceitful scam, a cruel charade perpetrated open the membership!  The purported purpose of the meeting is to produce a short-list on which the membership can vote, but given the machinations taking place behind the scenes can this possibly be correct.?
Almost inevitably, members are going to be forced to the conclusion that it will be Mr Farage’s favourites who will appear on the final list whilst those he does not favour will be dropped well before the membership has its say.  Indeed, I hope that this flawed process outlined above will bring back memories of the gerrymandering that occurred in 2004 and 2009, the saga relating to Marta Andreassen (now a Tory MEP) (another of Mr Farage’s dreadful judgements), John West and many others. A saga that involved dishonesty and underhand activity which by-passed the membership. Mr Farage will be present, so ensure that you voice your concern to him directly that it is going to be exactly the same this time around. Nothing seems to have changed, and, it seems, the membership is yet again going to be treated with contempt.
On Saturday, Roger Bird, Steve Crowther, and their colleagues, really must be required to explain to the members present why the selection panel is comprised as it is, and equally importantly, who chose it.  Ask them why the members are not to be permitted total oversight instead of a mere 33% of the votes (1 vote of 3)?   Emphasise to them that with these two ‘gentlemen’, Aldridge and Moran, being able to cast two thirds of the votes, how can anyone truly believe that any candidate, other than those preferred by Mr Farage, will be successful.  Let them explain what it is that Messrs Moran and Aldridge know that the membership does not? Is Ukip not a democratic party?
Members attending the event on Saturday must really keep their wits about them.  For as things stand it seems the day’s activity has every likelihood of producing the type of ‘fix’ that would make dictators on a neighbouring Continent rather pleased.
Written with deep concern
Alistair
E-mail outlining the format for this Saturday’s meeting
Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2013 12:41:51 +0100
From:
bird.roger@rocketmail.com
Subject: UKIP Public Speaking – 27 July in Woking
To:
bird.roger@rocketmail.com CC: John Moran <jdmassociates@talktalk.net>; Harry Aldridge <aldridge.harry@gmail.com>; Steve Crowther <sjcrowther@btinternet.com>
Dear All, I am writing because I have been asked, as UKIP regional Chairman for the South East, to chair the public speaking day on Saturday. I am not standing as a candidate in this election. I believe that the Party Chairman has already been in contact with you regarding the format of the event, but it might be best if I make certain points clear, to avoid confusion: – This is a public speaking contest, not a hustings as such. This is inevitable given that we will have 21 would-be candidates speaking – In consequence, we should remember that there will be more than one winner. We are helping to produce a shortlist of SE candidates on which the membership can vote. I am sure that everyone will approach the event in a harmonious and constructive spirit. – Candidates will be allowed to address the meeting for five minutes. The assessors (John Moran and Harry Aldridge) will then each ask one question from a list. The list of questions which assessors use is the same at all the public speaking events around the country. There will then be two questions asked by members of the audience. It is essential that answers are short (no more than one minute) or the event will over-run substantially. – Twenty members of the audience, selected at random, will be invited to assist in the scoring. The average of the audience marks will be calculated by me at the end of the day. The audience’s averaged vote will then count as one vote, while John Moran and Harry Aldridge also each will have one vote in the deliberations. – The audience will consist only of UKIP members, who may be asked to produce their membership card at the door. We will have a membership list with us, just in case. – Candidates will not be permitted to listen to each others’ performances. We will therefore ask candidates to wait together in a separate room before being conducted into the hall. – Candidates’ spouses, partners and families can attend the event in the audience only if they are paid-up UKIP members. – To avoid keeping you all waiting around unnecessarily, we are inviting candidates to come at particular times, in batches (see list below). The order shown is random, as provided by the Party Chairman, although in a small number of cases where candidates have had unavoidable business or public service commitments that day we have tried to accommodate them early or late on. – There may be some candidates for the SE who have attended public speaking contests in other regions, for convenience. If there are names missing from the list below, you may find that a candidate has been assessed elsewhere, therefore. – Candidates are reminded of the advice already given by the Party Chairman not to leaflet the event with flyers or similar material in support of their candidacies. – Finally, let me thank you for giving up your valuable time on a Saturday to come to this event. It is an essential part of UKIP’s quest to find the best candidates and to offer the membership the widest possible choice and so I would like to thank you on behalf of the membership for helping to bring this plan to fruition.
The timings for candidates are: 1st batch (0945-1045) Nigel Farage Alan Stevens Richard Palmer Janice Atkinson Toby Pilling Alexandra Swann 2nd batch (1045-1145) Andrew Moncrieff Tony Smith Tim Cross Ray Finch Piers Wauchope Nigel Jones Lunch (1145-1215) 3rd batch (1215-1315) Patricia Culligan Ian McKie Barry Cooper Densmore Dover Laurence Hodge 4th batch (1315-1415) Mark Cribb Donna Edmunds Steve Harris Ralph Atkinson I hope you all find the event stimulating and I wish you well with it. My mobile phone number is 07786 104 198, should you need to get in touch. Best regards, Roger
Concerns over Mr Moran
UKIP Surrey produces a county newspaper, UKIP Surrey News, which asks for donations to be sent to John Moran at a PO Box in Ashtead. None of these county branches – West or East Sussex, Berkshire or Surrey – appears on the Electoral Commission’s list of UKIP accounting units, ie, where does the money actually go?  We simply don’t know!
Ashford
It was reported in the Sunday Telegraph, dated 12th February 2007, that outrage over the Ashford Call Centre has been blamed for the resignation of six senior UKIP officials over the previous 18 months. In the same article, Farage is reported to have confessed that a London based UKIP call centre had lost between £5,000 and £6,000 every month and this was the reason he was keen for a ‘professionally run call centre’ to be set up under John Moran in Ashford.
Extract from letter written by John de Roeck (he was National Treasurer at the time)
“We must consider if Central Office should be burdened with liabilities of the Ashford telesales department unless it is also receiving the profits. If John Moran and Nigel Farage continue to take responsibility for the operation and remain the signatories to the bank account for Ashford telesales, it is important that the Party receives a written agreement from them, in which they agree to indemnify the Party from any losses, consequential losses or other liabilities incurred by the Ashford operation, or give a similar written undertaking acceptable to the NEC. A detail to consider is whether the operation should be converted into a limited company.”
“Accounts from the Ashford telesales operation should also be prepared for the NEC in future on a monthly basis so that we can establish the effectiveness of the operation. As the operation is using data collected nationally from UKIP, we have a duty on the NEC to receive reports and in turn report to membership. This is in addition to the Party Treasurer responsibility of reporting to the Electoral Commission.
In the September NEC meeting Nigel Farage agreed to supply accounts although none as yet have been produced.
Kind regards,
John de Roeck
Party Treasurer
Harry Aldridge
“Nigel Farage is seeking to change UKIP’s Constitution in order to allow the NEC – controlled by him – final say who gets on the MEP lists.”
“Harry Aldridge – a is known to be a leading sycophant of MrFarage – rumoured to have been offered second place in the South East.  It will come as no surprise to learn that Aldridge is one of the most vocal in support of the new constitution!”
Hi,
it is sad for those who really, really want to see Britain Leave-The-EU to watch the self destruction of UKIP as it persues numbers rather than results, dignity, gravitas or credibility packing its ranks with low grade supporters of little merit who are themselves so clearly betrayed by the clique leading, or so they would claim, and those who are trying to curry favour for a chance to climb on the gravy train.
We had such high hopes for UKIP as active campaigners and supporters of UKIP only to watch the party dragged into the gutter and exploited by a small clique for their personal gain.
Whether one reads the mainstream media or the vile behaviour of the cowardly anonymised foot soldiers who so demean the party in their efforts to defame those who seek honesty, transparency, democracy and integrity of UKIP in an effort to try to make them fit for purpose as the party that could have led Britain to Leave-The-EU – that has lost its way and its morals in an obvious defence of their personal pursuit of riches with no gutter too befouliong to stand in the way of their inept persuit of income and control.
Tories draw neck and neck with Labour as Ukip support falls
political editor
Conservative support surges to see main parties level for first time since March 2012 on 36% of the vote in Guardian/ICM pollDavid Cameron at No 10. Conservatives are convinced that as growth picks up, the polls will swing decisively to them.
The Conservatives have surged to sit alongside Labour in the polls for the first time in nearly 18 months, largely owing to a sharp fall in support for Ukip, according to the latest ICM monthly poll for the Guardian.
Labour will be alarmed that the two main parties are neck and neck despite the economy showing only tentative signs of starting to recover.
ICM’s telephone poll last month showed a strong Labour lead of seven points, but this month the Tories are benefiting from the continuing collapse in support for Ukip, down from 18% in May – just after its local election success – to 12% in June and now just 7%.
The shares of the vote are Conservatives 36% (+7 on last month), Labour 36% (no change), Liberal Democrats 13% (+1), Ukip 7% (-5), and others 8% (-2).Link to this interactive
It is the best result for the Tories in an ICM poll since they led by three points in March 2012, just before George Osborne’s mishandled budget presaged a series of other errors across the government machine.
The fall in the Ukip share may reflect the recent comparative decline in publicity for the party’s leader, Nigel Farage, and Downing Street’s persistent efforts to neutralise Ukip’s appeal by countering with a series of strong messages on immigration, welfare and a referendum on UK membership of the European Union.
It may also suggest that Ukip support is in part a protest vote exercised in relatively unimportant local elections and that this support dissipates once the protest has been registered.
Ukip is likely to argue that the drop in support has not been reflected in most other polls. At the weekend four online polls showed Ukip support in the high teens, but a new Populus poll showed Ukip on 10%.
Farage’s party will also be banking on a big resurgence of interest during the European parliament elections next June, when it will hope to come first in terms of national share of the vote.
The ICM poll findings do not appear to reflect any change in the underlying support for Labour since the party’s standing of 36% remains unchanged on last month – although party supporters may hope to dismiss it as an outlier.
By contrast, the running YouGov daily online poll shows Labour leading by about 11 points, a hardening in its ratings after an apparent softening in the previous fortnight.
The ICM poll also contains a clear warning for the chancellor: two-thirds (65%) do not believe his promise, made last week, that the deficit can be cut after the election without raising taxes.
There is a majority scepticism on this issue across the political spectrum, with 57% of people who voted Conservative in 2010 agreeing (2010 Lab, 70%; 2010 Lib Dem, 75%).
That suggests the Tories will struggle to damage Ed Miliband and Ed Balls in the next election campaign simply by warning of a Labour tax bombshell if elected.
The findings may also reflect the unwillingness of any voter to answer positively if asked a question that implies the respondent trusts a politician.
At the weekend the Lib Dem business secretary, Vince Cable, threw a new argument into the likely election tax and spending debate by saying he did not believe the last Labour government had spent too much in the run-up to the banking crash, but instead had failed to regulate banking.
Other Lib Dems, including the deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, have persistently argued that the deficit was created by Labour overspending before 2008.
But overall, the Conservatives will be delighted with the ICM findings. Conservatives are convinced that as growth picks up over the next 12 months, the polls will swing decisively to them.
Cameron is also due to take the cabinet to a celebratory “away day” at Chequers on Thursday, where they are expected to hear political as well as government briefings before parliament goes into recess. A reshuffle in the ministerial ranks outside cabinet, which had been pencilled in for this week, now looks likely to take place in the autumn.
Conservative ministers are privately sceptical that they have drawn level with Labour yet, basing their judgment on other polls and doorstep response. They still maintain it will be very hard to win an overall Commons majority.
Ed Miliband’s brother, David, in a valedictory TV interview at the weekend, cautioned against the conventional wisdom that a hung parliament was likely after the next election. The British public may move decisively in favour of one of the main parties, he said, adding that there was still a “great danger” they might choose the Tories.
Lib Dems will be concerned at the absence of any sign in the ICM poll that their overall vote is picking up, despite the decline in Ukip support.
The findings appear to confirm the Lib Dems are no longer seen as a protest party, making it harder to win a new constituency.
Danny Alexander, the Lib Dem Treasury chief secretary, will on Tuesday publish the result of a Cabinet Office-led review into a replacement for the Trident nuclear deterrent. The ICM poll shows the public split on the issue.
Three in 10 (31%) think Trident should be replaced (rising to 45% of those who voted Tory in 2010), while an identical number (31%) think it should be slimmed down (rising to 37% among 2010 Lib Dem voters) and 30% think we should no longer have any deterrent (39% among Labour 2010 voters).
In his speech, Alexander is to back a limited replacement.
The poll also shows all three party leaders have judged the public mood correctly by rejecting the 10% increase in MPs’ pay from 2015 proposed by the parliamentary watchdog. The proposed rise would take MPs’ pay to £74,000 in 2015.
The public believe MPs should be paid a shade over £50,000 (£51,620 on average). Men are happier to pay more – at £54,000 – while women think MPs should be paid £49,000. A clear correlation between social grade and pay was revealed: those in the most affluent group, AB, suggest MPs should get £58,000, C1s suggest £55,000, C2s £46,000 and DEs £45,000. Lib Dem voters are the most generous (£61,000), as are people living in the south (£54,000).
 ICM Research interviewed a random sample of 1,003 adults aged 18+ by telephone on 12-14 July 2013. Interviews were conducted across the country and the results have been weighted to the profile of all adults. ICM is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
This seems very similar to the predictions of this blog, in that we have noted a surge in the protest vote where UKIP was ‘used’ as a dustbin for the protest voters seeking their own parties woulmodify their policies.
There has been an upsurge in apparent support for UKIP but as predicted this was little more than a dead cat bounce!
There is no sign of an actual popular uprising against the LibLabCon of which UKIP is a hanger on – The spparent surge in UKIP membership would seem to include dead, past and expired members and as UKIP boasts of a small head office staff it seems all too likely that their records are very poorly kept and deletions are long over due.
Little wonder that UKIP’s principle backer the retired professional gambler Stuart Wheeler has not only watched his fortune diminish, since selling his bettimng business, but has also finally woken up to the near total lack of competent leadership in UKIP, making it clear that firstly he did not trust them and would only donate if HE was appointed Party Treasurer a position in which he was happy to turn a blind eye to what seems to have been the criminal;ity of UKIP’s accounting procedures and the perceived trousering of upwards of £Millions by the small clique at the top.
It is not a matter of look how well UKIP has done in regaining the near 20,000 members he lost but just think how well UKIP might now be doing had they had a leader with the competence to devise strategies, tactics and a clear exit and survival strategy addressing Article #50 and taking a lead rather than seeking to sabotage efforts to petition Parliament to force a referendum debate which was achieved by Nikki Sinclaire the ex UKIP MEP who refused to remain in Nigel Farage’s racist and unpleasant EU EFD Group.
UKIP had chance after chance but as ‘chancers’ they have achieved little more than to provide the media with a useful tool to exploit using UKIP to build a whip with which the LibLabCon could be abused to create a story in default of any notable differences between tyhe main political parties.
It can not have escaped your attention and it surely has not escaped the attention of the very laziest member of the media, that in 20 years UKIP has abjectly failed to make any notabvle inroads in British domestic politics with no MPs, no Police presence with no Mayors and out of 1,700+ candidates put forward a mere 147 elected!
From this obvious failure it is clear UKIP has fallen back since the elections and has come nowhere near gaining seats in subsequent by-elections.
To some extent realising the catastrophic position of his protege party or is that ‘toy’ is now trying to make the party seem to be something other than the one man band it is and portrays itself as as he seeks to restrain Nigel Farage’s showmanship as the only regular representative of the party.
As we predicted and reported some time ago even Ms. James is not only sidelined by the party but openly attacked by some of the parasites seeking approval and income at the gift of Nigel Farage, as with the unpleasant postings made by the unreliable witness and to be frank outright liar, Annabelle Fuller.
Efforts to make the party more professional, as promised year after year by Farage, have been little more than a shambles with the abuse of power as manifest by the undemocratic and self serving determination of Farage to hand choose HIS prospective MEPs, from amongst his cronies and drinking buddies – we even have the risible specter of Farage, endlessly and stupidly presented, of Farage as the cheeky chappie in the pub and always with a drink in hand – the most crass of PR styles available that, though it brings publicity in the short term, has reflected with the serial failure of Farage and his party to achieve anything of note in efforts to reach Westminster beyond destabilising Tory voters adequate4ly to make way for Labour and what a catastrophe that is!
UKIP has thus made way for a return to the unlucky 13 years of destruction of Britain by Labour who are a party at war with itself where it is clear that short of manacle David Milliband to load him on the plane he was forced out of Britain as a clear force against the weak kneed and inept brother he has so clearly left behind! Labour, like UKIP, has no visible alternative totheir present leader whose abilities are clearly inadequate – this leaves way for the hand of their own ‘Brutus’ from amongst their inept and uninspiring leadership claque and the clique itself – In both parties, but there is no one of aptitude with leadertship skills in either party – The Tories are little better off and the LibDims are a joke.
UKIP has lost its way as it lurches along like an habitual drunk, in an ever befuddled state preaching Libertarian claims and practicing centralised authoritarian authoritarian control in a libertine and louche regimen.
UKIP would do far better if it were to spend more time planning, dervising strategy and tactics and showing just how and why Britain will be Better-Off when it Leaves-The-EU whilst trying to understand the Treaties and the importance of The Treat of Vienna and the details of Article #50 and the due process of devising an exit and survival startegy for Britain in the light of the authority of both the various Treaties and the significance of CODEX, The WTO and the like.
Saddly UKIP are unlikely to do the work essential when there is the omni present opportunity of excercising the expense account and getting a drink – as the photos and comments of Nigel Farage and his clique so readily show as they campaign to keep pubs open and smoking as a plus point on the agenda like naughty schoolboys who want to show off!
These are not politicians but self serving aspirants to ego fed incomes beyond their wildest dreams or abilities. They are clearly unfit for purpose and as Stuart Wheeler has made abundantly clear ‘not to be trusted’!
.
UKIP Finances are clearly shabby and believed by many to be utterly corrupt with 100s of £1,000s if not £Millions having gone missing or been trousered or syphoned off into private accounts and through money laundering scams and schemes: The Staggering Hypocrisy of UKIP and its leadership is Called to Account!!!
.
~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.

Hi,

There has always been a perception in UKIP that it is a bad idea to donate cash to the party, as it just vanishes into a black hole marked ‘Farages’s legal costs‘.

This may well be the reason that UKIP MEPs have in the main made very few donations to the party or financial contribution, other than when investing in their own personal re-election which grants them personal enrichment beyond their wildest dreams of actual personal ability!

This Black Hole of perceived corruption and inability to account for large sums of money that have seemed to vanish into the pockets of the leadership and senior officials and their puppets would seem to explain why the current largest backer, Stuart Wheeler who made his money as a professional gambler was unwilling to gamble on UKIP but linked his willingness to donate to controlling his donations by being appointed Treasurer!

On the matter of his donations when challenged on Hard Talk informed the interviewer that his donations to UKIP were but a fraction of those he made to the Tories admitted he was far less wealthy now than then!

Wheeler elsewhere has admitted that his investment skills and personal judgement, after selling out his gambling business, had proved catastrophic having halved his wealth! Perhaps another reason he was unwilling to trust his judgement of his new colleagues and insisted on being Treasurer to protect his donations and was unwilling to act honourably and investigate the apparently corrupt activities of his predecessors and new chums who seemed to have stolen, purloined, trousered or lost huge sums of public money, often criminally!

Two headlines that appeared this weekend might support that theory.

One read “Ex-FTSE chief donates five figure sum to UKIP”.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/businesslatestnews/10093756/Ex-FTSE-chief-donates-five-figure-sum-to-Ukip.html

The other reads “Nigel Farage warns: Let Ukip into studio for TV election debates or I’ll take you to court”.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/nigel-farage-warns-let-ukip-into-studio-for-tv-election-debates-or-ill-take-you-to-court-8640326.html

We guess that a five figure sum ought to cover a legal battle with the BBC. The donor in question might be a bit peeved, however, when he learns how his money is likely to be wasted.

The funny thing is that the donor prefers not to be named!

Was it explained to him that as his donation exceeds £7.5k his name will be, by law, made public? Or was this a donation channelled through Lord PearShaped’s dodgy money-laundering foundation?

Possibly OL:AF will leap into dynamic action to investigate this corruption and produce a verdict in two or three years time!

You will recall OLAF’s utter ineptitude in delivering transparent verdicts timeously as with Tom Wise, Nigel Farage, Stuart Wheeler, Derek Clark, David Bannerman, Jeffrey Titford, Mike Nattrass, Graham Booth and others – some finding themselves in prison, others having to repay large sums of public money they had misappropriated or stolen. Theser investigations took years and some are even now ongoing!

Interestingly OLAF have never shown any interest in the accounts of Nikki Sinclair as The EU Payments Office have stated they are entirely satisfied with the probity of her accounts which unlike UKIP MEPs are largely published on line in a manner more transparent than any other British MEP I know of! It is the ineptitude and fundamental dishonesty of the British Police that has led to the ongoing and seemingly completely unjustified claims regarding her accounts which seem larghely dependent on the dishonest and corrupt John Ison.

Justice delayed is Justice denied and so far the Police have set out to interfere with the democratic process for questionable reasons in the case of Nikki Sinclair for 3 years it seems!

If it was Lord Pearson’s money laundering scam that has been used for recent donations Stuart Wheeler might come in for a bit of stick for letting the cat out of the bag.

Clever money in Westminster says we will have the name of the donor by the end of the week!

So will the press.

And so will those who seek to pervert British democratic process such as Hope Not Hate and the various ‘Hate Preachers & Propagandists‘ like The BNP & EDL!

In the light of the many apparent scams in UKIP involving its leadership team and staff it is quite staggering to read the hypocrisy of the comments from Nigel Farage in the massively loss making left wing propaganda publishers The Guardian:

Ukip’s Nigel Farage Slams MP Sleaze

Ukip leader wants Britain to copy United States with stricter rules on lobbying

By Dominic Gover June 4, 2013 2:37 PM GMT
