Hi,
Alan Sked commented on Nigel Farage’s statement regarding UKIP’s education policy. (Telegraph letters page Friday 13th Feb).

Ukip university bias

SIR – Nigel Farage (Comment, February 12) [CLICK HERE] has promised to scrap tuition fees for students reading maths, sciences, technology, engineering and medicine.

Students in arts and humanities must pay. Presumably Mr Farage – who didn’t go to university – does not value the skills these people acquire: primarily the ability to analyse by weighing up evidence against argument. This skill, of course, allows one immediately to skewer his policies.

Mr Farage’s list will only confirm to educated voters that the man is unfit to be an MP and his party unfit for government.

Professor Alan Sked
Founder of Ukip
London WC2

Douglas Denny in a classic example of ‘The Worm Has Turned’, who having mastered the corruption in Ukip for Nigel Farage over many years – whether rigging elections and selection processes or attacking those who tried to reveal the truth and corruption withing Ukip was the ultimate nerd insider of no consequence and when he had fulfuilled his sordid purpose and was becoming an embarrassment found himself tossed aside.
DENNY, Douglas 03
In pique at the realisation of his own irrelevance he found he was so embroilled in the corruption that it woould seem that to date he has been unwilling to supply the evidence of the corruption and is perpetuating the criminality by his failure of duty to report matters to the authorities – a criminal action in its own right as he is thus in collusion!
However he has tried to sell his story to the media and jhaving failed is now leaking items which are being passed omn to the media. Clearly a man without honour or integrity, who has lacked even the ethics toapologise for his many years of dishonesty and underhand behaviour.
Douglas Denny’s latest piece of sour grapes having been dumped by Nigel Farage and Ukip in almost the same manner he has removed so many of Nigel Farage’s rivals in the past has been passed on to me and is as follows:
I have observed Nigel for nearly seventeen years whilst actively engaged in UKIP, and can assent he is indeed scientifically and technologically illiterate. He has virtually no knowledge in science and technology; cannot even use a computer for the usual applications, and he appears to despise academics or those with higher intelligence than himself with a dismissive wave of the hand. I have seen it happen.
——–

His function and actions as Leader regarding policy is his greatest weakness however, and should be examined closely now we are near to a General Election.

In UKIP’s constitution the development and implementation of policy is the full responsibility of the Leader.
The constitution states:-

….The Party Leader shall give political direction to the Party and shall be responsible for the development of the Party’s policies with the agreement of the NEC.
and: …The Party Leader may, at his discretion, form such advisory groups as he deems appropriate to advise him on any matter pertinent to the exercise of his functions,….
and: …. The Party Leader: …..shall make or approve national statements of the Party’s policies and the manner of their communication.

Mr Farage declared that the last general election manifesto for 2010 was, to put it simply – rubbish. Though he denies it, yet, he was highly involved in it.
I know because I was there. He discussed policy issues in numerous NEC meetings prior to the 2010 election.

On BBC2’s Daily Politics, he disowned the party’s entire 2010 election manifesto after he was asked whether the UK Independence party still wanted to introduce a dress code for taxi drivers, regularly deploy armed forces on the street and repaint trains in traditional colours. His argument that he was not in charge of the party in 2010 as he was just a candidate, saying “I don’t defend the 2010 manifesto. I didn’t put it together”. This is highly disingenuous.

All those at the top of the party then, including myself, know very well he always was very much at the heart of policy and all things in UKIP, including the manifesto, and has been with development and promotion of policy in ALL General Elections. The NEC who finally ratify the manifesto are merely puppets who follow his instructions. I have never known any policy changed in the manifesto when presented to the NEC for ratification. UKIP is a party which very much Mr Farage’s personal fiefdom.

He cannot simply and blithely disown personal responsibility for policy production, as I have seen him directly leading the party for over fifteen years of my being in UKIP, and for over twelve years plus of that I have been in the NEC assisting doing that very thing! Lord Pearson’s very brief stewardship of the party as Leader was more a fig leaf only, as Nigel was still effectively running the party.

Nigel’s denial of involvement in manifesto development nevertheless raises many questions as to his suitability to lead a political party. If he claims he was not involved in the production of the 2010 manifesto – then why not? What an admission if true! …considering he was in fact effectively leading the party from the top previously, and from its very beginning.

And is he going to accept responsibility as Leader now – for the obvious chaos reigning in UKIP at the top for lack of credible policy production; and will he accept his incompetence in having to sack Tim Aker who was charged to develop policy, and who he, Farage, personally promoted for the job in the first place?

I suggest it graphically shows his abilities as a Leader to produce credible policy are severely limited.

Douglas Denny.
Ex-NEC member of UKIP.
Chichester.

I well recall some years ago a challenge was issued to the NEC which Douglas Denny manipulated for Farage and they sheltered behind the claim that the item was not within their jurisdiction but was the responsibility of ‘The Policy Committee’ .
Boxed into something of a corner it was then revealed that the policy committee had only one member and that was Nigel Farage!
Sadly the more one learns about Ukip the more one realises it is merely a vehicle for a small clique, a vehicle without integrity or vision, a one man band
FARAGE, Nigel 94 ORCHESTRATING A DEFECTION 01and if you fall foul of the ambitions of that one man band it takes little time for it to turn on you as Douglas Denny practiced for so many years and then himself fell foul of the band master
FARAGE, Nigel 104it is this quicksand that Ukip is founded on that makes it such a useful dustbin in which the protest vote can be cast when of no consequence like an EU election where the relevance or clout of MEPs is clearly of no consequence or influence – as Ukip have proved by their utter lack of achievement for our country and its freedom.
The treacherous quicksand with its lack of structure and self serving nature is also the reason why Ukip’s support in the polls has collapsed with the latest Ipsos Mori Poll finding they had fallen back to 9% support from their so short lived high!
In ending I once again state that it is the duty and moral obligation of Douglas Denny to hand over the evidence he claims to hold that would lead to Nigel Farage being charged and prosecuted for his corruption and should Douglas Denny fail to aquit his duty in his normal style colluding in corruption I suggest he should be arrested and prosecuted for his criminality.
It is interesting to note that Nigel Farage’s other close confidante Annabelle Fuller having been investigated by the police has had her file passed to The CPS and since she has admitted to theft and other criminal actions charges and prosecutions should be inevitable in the public interest.
.

Greg_L-W..

Amjad Bashir & Ukip’s Apparent Industrial Abuse of their public office and the public purse – both financial and racist are widespread!

000a ukip-025 count.png

~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.
Hi,
that this site reported the fact that the conference, now in question by Ukip was in something of a collapse since the key note speaker The Grand Muffti of Egypt had withdrawn his support – yet it was not until Amjad Bashir had defected to The Tories that Ukip took any action to censure his expenditure.I presume that like the previous influx of new Ukip MEPs Amjad Bashir and his fellow Ukip MEPs had entered a contract that to ensure their accounts were in order, in the new and complex area of EU allowances and expenses Nigel Farage, their leader, was authorised to ensure, through his own appointed financial overseer, that all accounts were correctly claimed.
We note from the date of the article that it would seem Ukip made no complaint and had no problem with Mr. Bashir’s behaviour, associates or finances; until in a fit of pique they complained to the EU, AFTER he had defected to The Tories!
It is notable that it is reported below that when made aware of the inappropriate nature of a claim, presumably by Nigel Farage’s appointed voverseer, that Mr. Bashir has immediately repaid the wrongly claimed sums.
Let us not forget that Nigel Farage and the then leader of the party Jeffrey Titford were ordered to repay many £1,000s to the EU as was Ukip MEP Graham Booth, also Ukip MEP Derek Clark was ordered to repay somewhere between £30 & £60,000 falsely claimed (about which he regularly lied) – Ukip took no steps to suspend these individuals.
Further Nigel Farage took absolutely no steps to remove Ukip MEP Tow Wise’s membership of the party yet Tom Wise’s embezelling of money from the public purse led to a 2 year custodial sentence, fines, costs and repayment of funds.
Also notable is that neither Nigel Farage nor his cult followers in Ukip have taken any action whatever against his two Ukip MEP’s Stuart Agnew & David Bannerman (Deputy Leader!) who it was admitted on camera by Stuart Agnew were fraudulently obtaining money from the EU for their own gain.
These are not isolated examples in Ukip where such fraud seems endemic, if not encouraged – particularly when you consider the recent media report that the leader of the cult Nigel Farage and his deputy Paul Nuttall draw down an income of £600,000 a year each in salary, expenses and allowances yet have the lowest attendance rates recorded of the over 700 elected MEPs in the EU!
Nor has Nigel Farage or Ukip itself doe anything whatso ever to censure either their MEP Gerard Batten for his apparent hate crimes likely to incite racial abuse based upon Muslims with his irresponsible and seemingly criminal comments, articles and publications nor their House of Lords leader and the past leader of Ukip for Nigel Farage Malcolm Pearson for his well publicised racism particularly against Muslims, including speaking tours in America on behalf of Zionism!
Ukip’s abuse of their public office would indicate they are institutionally corrupt to the core and it would seem to be on an industrial scale!
Exclusive: Tory MEP Reported To Police Over ‘Systematic Financial Fraud’
The MEP triumphantly paraded by the Conservative Party after defecting from UKIP is revealed to be named in a number of financial scandals.
Yorkshire Euro MP Amjad Bashir, who was pictured with Prime Minister David Cameron, employed lobby group iB Consultants who are alleged to have submitted fraudulent invoices which contained forged taxi receipts.
UKIP, who suspended the politician last month, have confirmed that they believe the taxi company receipt included in the invoice, which is paid from taxpayers money, are false, saying the company confirmed it was “bogus” and have notified West Yorkshire Police. In addition, the company address in Leeds where iB Consultants was registered is none other than the address of the MEP himself, Amjad Bashir. The iB Consultants Web page is also currently registered at Mr Bashir’s address.
Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 20.51.03
Mr Bashir pays £3700 per month to the firm from his ‘local assistants’ allowance out of a budget which comes straight from British tax payers pockets.
It can also be revealed the same company claimed £8,000 for a ‘Radicalistion of Youth’ conference in London on December 5th, at which the speaker, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, was supposed to appear alongside Archbishop Carey. However, as early as October 2014 the principle speaker had informed iB Consultants that he was not attending.
The invoices for the large sums of money, including flights to and from Pakistan, luxury hotel rooms and the hire of a Mercedes led the European Parliament group, of which UKIP is the largest party, to start investigations. The car was hired from JusTaxi,  of which Mujeeb Bhutto was a Director of for a few months, who was involved in a kidnapping gang.
Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 20.51.29 Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 21.09.22
In a letter seen by Breitbart London, the group ask Mr Munir, the Director of iB Consultants, about the invoices he submitted on the 19th January which total £8,108.19.  They include flights for a Mohiuddin Hussain, who was unknown to the group, and lacked boarding cards, tickets and any proof that the company expended the money in the first instance.
They also asked about two hotel rooms costing £499 each for the cancelled conference which, the letter states, ‘look like booking confirmations’ rather than invoices. They asked Mr Bashir, ‘who stayed in these rooms? Were they paid and by whom? Surely you cancelled these? Please send proof of payment’.
Further questioned payments include a ‘Topa Travel’ invoice for two air tickets with no further details of the journey including no passenger names or what position they held. Once again, the invoice was submitted with no boarding cards, tickets or proof that the invoice was ever paid.
The company also submitted an invoice for cost of the invitations to the conference without ever providing a copy of one to prove they were produced, nor did they provide a list of who was invited to the conference or proof that the Grand Mufti had originally accepted the invitation.
Mr Hookem, UKIP MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, described Mr Bashir as “a huge embarrassment for the Tory Party.”
He has written to the Temporary Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, Dee Collins, reporting what he calls ‘systematic financial fraud by Amjad Bashir, MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber’.
He defended the party’s acceptance of Mr Bashir – even when documents revealed that the Party Chairman Steve Crowther knew about the allegations surrounding Mujeeb Bhutto, saying, “UKIP have a clear policy on wrong doing – once we find out we kick them out.”
“In his eagerness to get one over on UKIP, ‘Cast Iron’ Dave has become ‘Desperate Dave’,” said Mr Hookem, “taking in a damaged political tourist without performing the necessary checks.”
“Surely the Tory Party cannot keep Amjad Bashir as a member after these damning revelations,” he said, adding, “Bashir’s service provider submitted a bogus taxi receipt,  was rumbled and then withdrew all receipts and paid back all monies immediately.  Amjad’s team have failed to answer our serious questions.”
Mr Bashir, who has been in four different political parties in the UK, is a public supporter of the MQM party in Pakistan which is classed as a terrorist organisation in both Canada and the US.
In a UKIP local candidate selection meeting in Bradford two weeks ago, convicted kidnapper Mujeeb Bhutto turned up with Amjad Bashir’s chief of staff Hassan Munir the Director of iB Consultants Ltd.  A UKIP member in the West Yorkshire area said that it “set off alarm bells|” amongst members. Mr Bhutto, who was formerly a member of the Conservative Party, had been featured on the BBC’s Newsnight for his involvement in a Pakistani kidnapping gang which demanded £50,000 from the victim’s family. Despite the party informing Mr Bashir that Mr Bhutto was not welcome at any UKIP events, the pair were frequently seen together including at an MQM event in London on July 20th last year.
A Conservative Party Spokesman told Breitbart London that they would respond to our questions regarding Mr Bashir’s continued membership of the party “in the morning.”
Mr Bashir has previously responded to the UKIP allegations saying, “There is not a shred of truth in any of the claims but it has made me more convinced than ever that I made the right decision.”
.
Hi,
do read this staggeringly inept and lightweight example of terminal waffle written for Nigel Farage and as published as a promotional essay for Ukip – it is a measure of the man that he lacks even the intellectual perspicacity and basic understanding of either politics or finance to realise just how ineptly his staff represent him.
It is increasingly clear that he is now distanced from both Douglas Carswell, who I do not believe would have been fool enough to put his name to this waffle which is so clearly lacking in gravitas, integrity or vision.
Neither does it seem Patrick O’Flynn is a member of Farage’s clique anymore as even when writing for The Express his article, dishonestly written as they may have been, had more substance than this ‘puff’.
That the article was not written by Farage is clear as it lacks his self importance and anyway he lacks the education or ability to write such an article and so lacks computer skills that it would never have reached the media had he had to write it.
Nigel Farage sells his lack of computer skills as some sort of badge of honour and now that his wife is employed on a wife swap to flout the rules of the EU she is no longer willing to work for him late at night in her nite attire but works now for Farage’s gofer & fixer Ray Finch.
I presume this is supposed to be the pre launch of the launch or the pre launch to launch his election campaign and the new set of ‘drivel’ he plans to authorise to replace the last ‘drivel’ he commended as a Manifesto.
We have had the Hartlepool pre launch and the sleazy down market photo launch at Canvey’s local flea pit:
https://i0.wp.com/www.eureferendum.com/images/000a%20Farage-012%20Starr.jpg
Clearly after the above lampooning of himself a media launch was required as both Sky and the BBC seem to have overlooked his antics and his poll ratings, according to Ipsos Mori have now fallen as a party to their worst in 2 years with a mere 9% and little or no likelihood of an MP being elected and a probable fall in the already low number of councillors dotted around the country.
So here is the media ‘effort’ and all but the cult followers in a fit of crano rectal retention will realise just how damaging these failures are for Ukip – let us hope they are as rapidly distanced from the eXit campaign when there comes an In/Out EU Referendum, perhaps they would care to take the other duplicitous would be leaders like Matt Elliot and Dan Hannan with them as they vacate the field so as to enhance out opportunities of winning such a referendum and being able to Leave_The_EU.
Ukip has made it abundantly clear the British public at large do not trust them and clearly from their constant embarrassments and failures they like Mattew Elliot have no place in the No to EU membership campaign – let us not forget that Matthew Elliot’s last campaign was AV, which left him floundering far out of his depth and a rescue mission had to be mounted to save his face!
Toy tanks, inflatable bulldozers, cvhicken costumes etc. not withstanding just what has Ukip ever achieved for anyone but themselves and their own enrichment?
The article below is just more of the same from Ukip – uncosted fantsy and unsustainable froth – where is the meat on the bone?
After 22 years mostly as Nigel Farage’s fiefdom having claimed to oppose membership of the EU it was only with acts of thinly veiled racism and anti Muslim rhetoric that they ever managed to increase their vote in the wake of the collapse of the BNP.
To this day Ukip has absolutely zero honourable, ethical and workable EU eXit and survival strategy and failed even to put forward so much as an entry to the BreXit competition!
Nigel Farage’s appeal to Britons: believe in Britain
Ahead of the general election, Ukip leader Nigel Farage sets out his party’s vision
The general election offers a chance for neglected, hard-up voters to make their voices heard and choose MPs that care about their lives, says Ukip’s leader Nigel Farage.
This election campaign has been incredibly dull so far. Labour is trying to claim our National Health Service, as if they own it. The Tories are trying to grab at the economy, as if they haven’t presided over a doubling of the national debt in just five years, and failing to erase the deficit. Pretty predictable stuff.
And that’s because these two parties – the legacy parties – have forgotten that there is a country out there.
Farage rules out forming coalition with main political parties
Farage: Rotherham police were ‘wilfully obstructive’
There’s a country beyond Westminster, crying out for attention, respect, and assistance at a time when politicians are trying to convince them that everything is absolutely fine.
But it’s not fine. Now more than ever, this country needs a positive political party, with firm ideas for the future of this country. I believe that at this election, Ukip will be that party.
When you look at somewhere like Castlepoint in Essex, this election presents voters with a stark choice.
Ukip’s candidate is a local lad, Jamie Huntman, a timber merchant, who is deeply patriotic, involved in his community, and known as hard-working, straight-talking guy.
Britain “is the fifth largest economy in the world, not because of our governments, but in spite of them,” Farage says
He’s a man who, in spite of this country’s woes, despite the ruling classes telling us we can’t be a great nation again, still believes in Britain.
We believe that the backbone of this country – small business owners, families and indeed the legal migrants who come here to better their lives – know that we no longer have a capitalism that works for all.
Instead, we have corporatism, lavishing attention on big corporations while ignoring the little man. Only Ukip will address and tackle this imbalance.
Grant Shapps rules out deal with Ukip
Ukip supporters prefer to see Nigel Farage drinking tea
We’ll turn the other cheek to insults and negativity and focus instead on what we could deliver for the country if we have enough MPs.
No one will have a majority after this election. They all know it. But the thing they fear the most is a sizeable number of Ukip MPs in that chamber, holding them to account for you.
And when we say we believe in Britain, we believe in the whole of Britain. We’re the only political party with representation in all four corners of the United Kingdom.
The Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru are obviously regional parties. Labour has increasingly become a regional party in the North – though voters in the one-party state they tried to create there are now beginning to revolt. The Conservative Party is now a regional party of the South.
Ukip “have broken the class divide in British politics”, Nigel Farage argues
Ukip, on the other hand, is doing as well in the North as we are in the South. We’re a party that represents the whole country and, even more importantly, we have broken the class divide in British politics.
And our greatest, most recent growth has been in Labour areas. So far from the narrative and amusing conference line from Mr Cameron, that if you go to bed with Nigel Farage you wake up with Ed Miliband, the truth is that from Birmingham to Hadrian’s Wall, we are the challengers to Labour.
Ukip will put at the heart of its campaign not just the cost of living crisis, because we know that Britons are feeling the pinch, but also the cost of government crisis.
We will have a costed manifesto that deals with these issues, which includes taking those on the minimum wage out of tax, reducing energy bills, and by ending our costly membership of the EU.
But we’ve got to ask ourselves as voters: at what cost do we keep electing the current, Westminster college kids?
At what cost to our freedoms? At what cost to our communities? At what cost to the confidence and belief in the values that underpin British civil society?
Which political party is winning Facebook and does it matter?
Pub landlord Al Murray to stand against Nigel Farage
These are the big questions the political class don’t want you asking. They’ll try to bore you into submission, or convince you that you’ll let someone else in if you vote for us. Ask Douglas Carswell or Mark Reckless about this. If you vote Ukip, you get Ukip. Nothing else.
The year Ukip went mainstream – in 60 seconds
A Britain which can govern itself. A Britain with an ethical immigration policy based on the Australian-style points system. A Britain that doesn’t weaponise the NHS, but makes it work for those who need it. A Britain that is more than just a star on someone else’s flag. Ukip believes in Britain, and we know you do too.
We believe in a Britain that can trade freely with the world, honour our troops, work without a nanny state, stop propping up dictatorships through aid, and stop spending your money on white elephant projects like HS2.
I believe in a Britain that has confidence, stands proud, projects a national identity based on our Judaeo-Christian heritage, and our tremendous natural resources.
We believe in a Britain that is the fifth largest economy in the world, not because of our governments, but in spite of them.
A Britain with room to grow, not based on debt, but on real, tangible assets: our fisheries, our gas supplies, infrastructure like Manston Airport, and the prospects of our youth and people who come here legally and integrate and become the best of British themselves.
Not only have we found a way to inject £3 billion more per year into our NHS, but we also want people to have a say in how the NHS is run.
We want to scrap hospital car parking charges, acknowledge that the future for the NHS relies on the innovation and dedication that we will get from British graduates (not middle managers), and invest in research and cleaning up our hospitals.
This is why I’m pleased to say that we would scrap tuition fees for students studying science, technology, engineering, maths, or medical degrees.
And we’ll also fight for a right of recall for MPs who have failed voters.
Ukip will say “no to any coalition deals with the establishment parties who have taken us so far into this mess”
We’d reverse the opt-in to the European Arrest Warrant, because Britain believes in “innocent until proven guilty” and we believe in Britain.
Ukip ‘have lost the plot on countryside issues’
Timeline: The rise of Ukip
And we’d reward our Servicemen and women with a National Service Medal, social housing priority, and jobs when they return to civilian life.
We’d toss out ideas like the bedroom tax, and the mansion tax, because they’re two sides of the same coin, equally unconscionable and intended to divide us.
And we’d say no to propping up a government that refuses us an immediate EU referendum – no to any coalition deals with the establishment parties who have taken us so far into this mess.
But we need you to come with us on this journey. So I urge you, when you go to the ballot box, when you send in your postal vote: believe.
Believe in Britain. Believe in real change. Believe me when I say this is not just another election and yours is not just another vote.
If you hold onto those beliefs, if you want that change, then we believe, that together, we can achieve great things.
Hi,
as regular readers of this blog will have noted, we have for a considerable time pointed out our belief that Ukip had reached its zenith and its support would collapse as the realities of the General Election dawned upon the British peoples.
Ukip has provided a useful role as the dustbin in which protesters could cast their votes to mark their opprobrium for the two main parties, a dustbin used when there was nothing of consequence at stake.
The foolish expansion into complex uncosted policies showed Ukip for what they are when had they merely related each policy to EU matters and had avoided being corrupted by the generosity of the bribes available in the EU they could have continued to build their credibility.
Sadly they lacked the gravitas, vision and intellectual ability and were bereft of integrity and a sound vision for the future,
Ukip’s abject failure over 22 years to make any serious impact has been largely due to inadequate leadership and the total failure to devise, let alone promote, a sound, responsible and honourable EU eXit and survival policy for our country.
The low grade of those gathered around Nigel Farage as candidates and officers, elected or staff has proved catastrophic for the party all be it that it was essential to Nigel Farage who feared anyone of ability who might challenge him as his ability was but skin deep.
The truth is slowly surfacing and the public realise that there are too great dangers in wasting a vote on Ukip – firstly they might deny the Tories a majority which would put an EU referendum in jeopardy and secondly the great danger of putting the clearly inadequiate Ed Milibank in office and risk him bankrupting Britain under the malign influence and hatred of the SNP hard core and malign influences in both Plaid and the Welsh Labour party.
All of which would lead to our being locked into the EU until it finally collapses in its wars of disassociation. Were there no form of state aid already the majority in Britain are little more than a month away from homelessness and famine!
Ukip, Labour and the SNP are a risk too far for informed voters and hopefully a growing number of the electorate.
If my predictions continue to be realised we can expect further revelations about Ukip and possibly arrests before the election that will help to continue their fall from populist trust – this will enhance Britain’s possibilities of managing to Leave_the_EU and rebuild our fortunes on the global stage.
I stand by my prediction that Ukip are unlikely to have any MPs elected and there is virtually no chance they would have sufficient elected, in their wildest dreams to have any significant influence – look how very little they have achieved in the EU beyond being scorned for their outbursts and offensive manners and being alied to some of the most odious racists, anti homosexual, anti jewish extremists in EU politics – numerous with convictions for their extremism.
That was with over 20 MEPs and an income in the £Millions annually – a far cry from their expectations in British politics where they have consistently failed to achieve their party goals for 22 years beyond the enrichment of some in their management structure.
Are YOU prepared to wait another 22 years to MAYBE make progress to Leave_The_EU.
Let us hope my predictions continue to be validated!
General election: New poll shows big gains for Labour and Tories at expense of Lib Dems and Ukip
Ukip polling at below 10% for the first time in more than a year
Adam Withnall Author
Thursday 12 February 2015
FARAGE, Nigel  115Nigel Farage Preaching to the Concerted at Canvey Island.
A new poll suggests that support for Ukip has fallen below 10 per cent for the first time since November 2013, as Nigel Farage prepared to launch his election campaign.
As the party leader gave a speech in Essex in which he declared that Ukip was “picking up support from across every social spectrum”, an Ipsos Mori poll for the Evening Standard showed the party down two points at nine per cent.
The Lib Dems were also down in the poll at six per cent – its lowest level for 25 years. Nick Clegg admitted to listeners on LBC Radio that his party had “clearly taken a hit in the national polls”.
Gaining from both their losses were the Tories and Labour, with Ed Miliband’s party up two and now firmly leading the way on 36 per cent. The Conservatives gained a single point, up to 34 per cent.
Nigel Farage’s own personal ratings have also received a hit, down five points since the last Ipsos Mori survey – but it is worth noting that half of voters said they could yet change their minds between now and the general election in May.
Also speaking today was Mr Miliband, who launched Labour’s education policy at his old school in north London.
Party sources said he was expected to repeat claims that major Tory donor Lord Fink engaged in tax avoidance as the row over tax allegations against HSBC escalates.
The peer yesterday branded Mr Miliband’s claim “untrue and defamatory”.
A separate poll released today by Comres in association with ITV News showed that the Labour leader has gained some support over his recent disputes with British businesses.
When asked what they thought about his recent criticism of the likes of Boots boss Stefano Pessina and ex-M & S chief Lord Rose, 49 per cent said it showed Mr Miliband was on the side of ordinary people. Just 27 per cent took the other option – that it showed he was a danger to the UK economy.
Labour nonetheless trailed some way behind the Conservatives as the party people would most trust to promote economic growth.
Nigel Farage Docu-Drama featuring 100 days in power will be shown on Channel 4 on Monday next at 21:00hrs..
.
Hi,
for your information I found this YouTube promo for a spoof, Channel 4, docu drama on the internet, which is to be shown next Monday at 21:00hrs., which you may, whether a Ukip supporter, a member of their claque or an opponent of their style find amusing.I sought out any comment from Ukip and found the foam flecked rant of one such, who unsurprisingly was too ashamed to put his name to his idiotic comments:
Default Here Comes Channel 4 Demonising of Farage.
It was revealed a while ago that C4 were going to produce a spoof of what it would be like if UKIP won the 2015 GE.
By the look of the trailer, they have done their best to portray Farage as the second coming of Adolf Hitler.
This could be another big vote winner for UKIP, these audacious maneuvers usually backfire.
Firstly the odious prejudice regarding Channel 4 – by all means like or dislike the programmes of a TV station but to overlook the excellent publicity Ukip & Nigel Farage in particular have received on the channel is just sloppy and the maundering of a simpletons.
I could see not one wit of allusion to Adolf Hitler in the promo clip – perhaps this is the ‘fear’ of the commentator, who appreciates the similarity and seeks to pre-empt any such reference, when the program is broadcast.That in 1937 Time magazine voted Hitler ‘The Man Of The Year’ and prior to that in 1934 Oswald Moseley was the UK’s ‘Man of The Year’ and The Times granted that title to Nigel Farage is clearly not a coincidence.All 3 men were/are orators of some skill who have proved good rabble rousers and have risen in popularity through populist pandering to the failed in society who seek to blame others for their failure rather than accept responsibility.
Let us not forget that Adolf Hitler and Nigel Farage both rose from academic inconsequentiality to leading their own cults, at least Hitler had an honourable background as a soldier who fought in the trenches and was awarded the Iron Cross Second Class.
Nigel Farage was placed, by his Father, in a City job he failed at and his subsequent trading company went bust and is still indebted to HMRC for 10s of £1,000s!
To be fair to both men they did rise within their respective organisations by a series of intrigues and back stabbing.
Similarly to Oswald Mosely, Nigel Farage has switched allegiances politically several times having voted Tory, Green & presumably Ukip – he even flirted with The BNP at one stage having been manouvered out of Ukip:
FARAGE, Nigel 37 DEAVIN, Mark - LeCOMBER, Tony
The claque commentator overlooks the fact that for Ukip, with its ratings falling as they are, any publicity must be seen as welcome, as in their present position iot is extremely unlikely they will manage to have a single MP elected, though with publicity they just might get a couple.
Ukip’s plight at this stage is clear in that as they have climbed higher up the tree the more they have exposed their underside, which the media will delight in pointing out – such is the plight of any aspirant organisation that lacks principles, seeks populism and is bereft of any gravitas.Let us see how much of the truth is exposed on Monday – I doubt it will be much!
Increasing numbers seem to be realising that David Cameron’s pledge of a referendum is the best opportunity we have, all be it he will seek to place Tory cronies who seek to keep us in the EU in charge of the OUT Campaign, making much of tiny shifts in EU rulings as great triumphs of negotiation and using the likes of Matthew Elliott, Rodney Leach, Dan Hannan and their ilk to spread Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt (FUD).To win the referendum we must all strive to prevent Farage’s clique and their claque from risking putting the embarrassing Ed Miliband and his xlique of fools in position and if we can get a Tory majority ensuring Ukip hand its loonie toons and self serving self enriching leadership clique from having any chance of destroying the EU OUT campaign.
Guest Post – Kent Parker:
12 Tips For Ukip Activists from an Independent source based upon observation!
000a ukip-025 count.png
~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.
Hi,

Kent Parker’s summary of the responses and attitudes ideal for a Ukip activists may seem a little simplistic, but when you consider this is the closest almost any Ukip candidates have come to any form of training in Ukip’s 22 year history and the calliber he expects to influence I guess it needs to be simple!

It is clear that some amongst the leadertship are keeping abreast of political truisms with their new policies of populism pandering to the lowest common denominator Malan, LePen, Verwoerd, Tyndall, Voster, Moseley, Hitler, Griffin, Mussolini and the like used the policy before them – it guarantees some 10 > 15% of the electorate will support you – whether you would want the support of this sector of the community is a moot point.

It is however now clear that with the collapse of the BNP Nigel Farage has, with care, taken up the role until recently held by Nick Griffin. The move to clandestine racism has largely been responsible for the rise in membership and support the party has achieved recently – though it is notable how that support is falling back with the approach of the reality of the danger Ukip poses to any hope of a referendum on membership of the EU.

Even those in the gutter of British and EU politics, as Ukip indisputably are, would seem to find reason more valuable than prejudice and hatred when it comes to choosing a Government.

The electorate although having proved stupid enough to have put Tony Blair and Gordon Brown in power for 13 catastrophic years that although it hugely enriched them and many of their clique of cronies hugely damaged our economy and the well being of the man in the street

Being A UKIP Activist – Easy 12 Step Guide

Okay, so you’ve decided you want to be a UKIP activist but you aren’t quite sure how to start?  Well, we’re right here to help you with our Ten Step Easy Guide.  Hold onto your hat.

Step 1:  “I’m not racist but…”
We call this a paragraph primer.  You can drop it in front of any paragraph to make everything you say thereafter palatable to even the most Guardian-esque audience.  It’s  a good idea, if you think you might be about to get into your racist groove, to bring this paragraph primer into play in order to protect yourself.  We suggest dosing your conversation liberally with it just to be sure.
“I’m not racist but … have you noticed that everybody from Egypt wants to eat babies?”

Step 2:  “LibLabCon …”
This useful term of casual derision is a vital tool in your arsenal.  It is a simple way to devalue anything that anybody says by suggesting that they are all saying the same thing.  Remember, it doesn’t matter how different the things they are saying actually are.  All that matters is that you can stop them in their tracks by calling them LibLabCon, of THE LibLabCon if you want to add some real menace to it.
‘Kipper: “I’m canvassing on behalf of UKIP…”
Person: “Oh good, hello!  I wanted to ask you about your policies on housing and education?”
‘Kipper: “LIBLABCON!  Alert! Alert! LIBLABCON!”

Step 3:  “Free speech.”
You are entitled to this and should make sure you tell people at every opportunity, even if they haven’t challenged your right to free speech in any way.  The simple reminder of your rights is enough to make it look like they were trying to silence you and to give you time to get your racist groove on.  (See (1) above.)
Person: “You can’t go that way sir, it’s No Entry.”
‘Kipper: “How dare you challenge my free speech?”

Step 4:  “People power.”
This rather useful term allows you to claim you are a Man of The People regardless of how horrible the things you are saying might be.  Remember – people power only applies to the things you approve of.  Any other sort of People People, for instance something you do not approve of, should be dealt with by demanding Free Speech (see (3) above) or by calling your opponent The LibLabCon (see (2) above.)  See how these steps can be used together for greater effect?
Person:  “The Council are minded to turn down the wind turbine proposal.”
‘Kipper:  “People power!”

Person:  “But the local Green Party activists are campaigning for them to be passed.”
‘Kipper:  “LIBLABCON!  Alert! Alert! LIBLABCON!”

Step 5:  “I have a foreign friend.”
This goes hand-in-hand with Step 1.  Just in case you are talking to some really liberal ass who wouldn’t know a Sunni from a Tamil, you can remind them that you have some slight acquaintance with somebody who isn’t “from here” and so, obviously, it’s all good.  It doesn’t even have to be true.  In fact, it is better if it is not true, since that would allow an investigative person to find out that you employed them on the black market or something.  No pun intended.
Person:  “You can’t just going calling people the N word, sir.”
‘Kipper:  “I have a foreign friend.”
Person:  “Oh, that’s alright then. Go right ahead with your offensive racist language.”

Step 6:  “Rough Diamond.”
Seriously.  You can call somebody the ill-begotten Son of a donkey and refer to their relatives as Bingo Bongo Bangos and as long as you have one or two friends who are prepared to say that you didn’t mean it because you are a “rough diamond” with a heart of gold, all will be forgiven.  You’ll need to start making some friends to be your support network for this one.  I know, I know.  Friends, who needs ‘em?  But in this case – you do.
Person:  “I saw him.  He leapt over the table, grabbed her by the throat, lifted her off the floor and then shook her like a rag doll.”
‘Kipper:  “He doesn’t mean anything by it.  He’s a rough diamond.”

Step 7:  “I agree!”
Since you will have virtually no policies of any significance, and the ones you do have will be subject to change on a whim from Nigel Farage, Douglas Carswell, or any number of other non-Nigel-or-Douglas bureaucrats from the Dark Tower Of Power, you’re going to need to appropriate some from elsewhere.  The easiest way to do this is just to agree with whatever anybody says, wants or proposes.  Particularly if they can potentially vote for you.  Even more particularly if you aren’t being recorded and can deny it later.   Which leads us to…

Step 8:  Plausible Deniability
Look, you are a UKIP activist.  Sooner or later you are going to say something really, really, really stupid.  So be prepared to deny, deny, deny.  It doesn’t matter who heard you say it.  I doesn’t matter if it was recorded live on the BBC (they are just LibLabCons anyway) or if a prize-winning journalist captured it on their mobile phone.  We live in an age where technology can fake things.  Deny, deny, deny.  And if in doubt call in the Rough Diamond support network (See step (6))
Police Officer:  “There were nine witnesses saw you do it, Sir.”
‘Kipper:  “Wasn’t there.”

Step 9:  Gay Power
You aren’t going to be a big fan of the gay community.  You probably think they are all sent by Satan to ruin the Earth, or something.  But you will need at least one gay friend with you, in case the weather turns while you are out campaigning.  Super-powers are super-powers, after all.

Step 10:  Women
You will definitely need a good wife.  When you get home at the end of the day, you want to be sure that dinner is ready, that your slippers are warm and that it is properly spotless behind the fridge.  Also, when the press are phoning you at every hour wanting to know why you said whatever it is that you said – you’ll need somebody to answer for you and say: “I’m sorry, he’s not here right now,” while you hide in the basement.
‘Kipper:  “Hi honey I’m home!  I hope that’s good English food I can smell, and not any of that foreign muck.”
‘Kipper’s Wife:  “It’s Chicken Tikka and rice.”
‘Kipper:  “Perfect.”

Freebie Step 11:  Libertarian & Democratic
Since we here at “Guides to Do” want to offer you good value, here’s an eleventh step at no extra charge.  You should regularly refer to the party and yourself as both Libertarian and Democratic.  If you don’t know what these terms mean, that’s fine, you’ll be in good company.  You can tell everybody how Libertarian you are while simultaneously preventing the free movement of people, telling them what to put in their bodies and what not to, telling them who they can marry and who they can’t, supporting taxation and welfare spending, demanding that they require licences from the State for even the most mundane activities.  You can tell them how democratic you are, while simultaneously damning every political party that isn’t you.  Bloody LibLabCon.

Freebie Step 12:  Common Sense
Anything you think and others do not agree with is “Common Sense.”  UKIP are the party of this sort of very personal brand of Common Sense.  Be proud.

Kent lives in the big city, where he has worked as both a photographer and a journalist, if you are willing to accept dreamscapes as evidence of employment.

It gives 100 Reasons Not To Vote For Ukip in May

000a ukip-025 count.png

~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.
Hi,when Ukip published their banal list of 100 items as a guide to their delayed Manifesto I had intended to fisk it but time overtook me and it seems pointless now, with less than 100 days to go to election day.
An even better excuse for not doing the job is that amongst other examples Peter has fisked each item more than adequately and in a manner with which I agree.
Thanks Peter ;-))
100 reasons to ignore Ukip
Back in May, and many times since, I have remarked that “Ukip has nothing of any great substance, and even though we are promised a manifesto, I expect it will be the same rag-bag of parish suggestions box entries picked out of a tombola with no unifying theme. And as if on cue, we get 100 reasons to vote Ukip in the absence of actual policies. Mystic North strikes again! I’m not going to rubbish all of them since some of these random scattergun statements are desirable outcomes or policy instruments, but without context, they mean nothing. Let’s have a look at them shall we?
1. Get Britain out of the European Union
On this we are agreed. But this isn’t a policy. This is an ambition. As we have discovered, it ain’t simple, it ain’t quick and it will need an alternative. There are no magic wands and if you think it’s a simple process, you simply don’t understand what the EU is. Here I remind readers that Ukip does not have a Brexit policy.
2. Get control of immigration with an Australian-style, points-based immigration system
State bureaucrats second guessing the human resources needs of UK plc. What could possibly go wrong? Never mind that quota based systems can result in a net increase in immigration and that there is no evidence it could work for Britain since we are an entirely unique nation with entirely different geography. Ukip has failed to explain why their idea, plucked out of the air, would work, when successive administrations have failed in light of the complexities, costs and international treaty obligations. And in any case, we already have a points based system – and have since 2008.
3. £3bn more, annually, into our NHS which desperately needs it
From where exactly? And who says the NHS actually needs it? Could it just be that the pressure could be taken off the NHS by fixing the GP system and adult social care? Maybe, we don’t know, because Ukip hasn’t done any thinking on this. This link is where a Ukip policy should be looking.
4. Scrap tuition fees for students studying Science, Tech, Engineering, Maths, or Medical degrees
Sounds good in principle. But who is going to pay? Are we looking at tax funded university or are we looking at tax breaks for industry to finance them? Is it tied in with a broader industrial strategy? If so, what would that look like? And what about the creative arts? Multimedia technology might sound like a non-degree, but the games industry is not one we can afford to ignore.
5. Pay greater attention to elderly care across the country
Is this a policy or a sneeze?
6. Cutting £9bn from our foreign aid budget
And what then do we fund overseas projects with, some of which are essential to slowing and managing immigration. It has been clear throughout that Ukip doesn’t understand what aid is or what it is even for
7. Give the people the ability to “recall” their MPs, without parliamentary or MP approval
This is one of Dougie Carswell’s ideas which failed to pass while he was a Tory and given the state of voter engagement there is actually very little evidence this would be used often, if at all. It’s easy to fill a online petition with a few thousand signatures, but less easy to do it in a constituency. This really shows us just how shallow Ukip and Carswell are. We do have a big problem with our democratic deficit. It will require a range of integrated measures to tackle and this is just tinkering around the edges with bits of parliamentary procedure. Democratic reform ought to be a central pillar of a supposedly anti-establishment party – but it curiously is not.
8. Stopping our endless, foreign wars
You mean the ones that recently ended? How about a democratic mechanism to stop us getting sucked into them? No?
9. Promoting a British identity, as opposed to failed multiculturalism
How? And what does this achieve? And what is a British identity? How are you defining it?
10. Allowing existing schools to become grammar schools
And what do we do with the schools that don’t?
11. Ending PFI privatisation of the NHS, proliferated by Labour and the Tories
Ok, so we’re ripping up contracts now. What do we replace it with? In some places, it works.
12. Ensuring our armed services are properly equipped for when we do need them
Every government and every party has said that. What matters is the detail. As we outline here, that’s not so easy.
13. Establishing a Veteran’s Administration to look after those who looked after us
Like the well funded and competent SAAFA?
14. Encouraging inward investment with growth markets, not JUST the failing Eurozone
How? This is a sentiment, not a policy.
15. Overcoming the unfairness of MPs from devolved nations voting on English laws
How? Got a policy?
16. Cutting bureaucracy, red tape, and wasteful spending from government departments
Which bureaucracy, which red tape, what wasteful spending? Easy to say, harder to do.
17. Cutting the same bureaucracy that hinders small businesses and entrepreneurs
What like?
18. Supporting our farmers with a Single Farm Payment Scheme
How would that differ from the one which already exists and is presently in use?
19. Ending the burdensome “green levies” that have added £000s to our energy bills
My energy bill doesn’t exceed £1000. And some of those green levies go toward better insulation which means we don’t have to build a new power station. So which “green levies” are we talking about?
20. Scrapping the poorly planned HS2 project, saving up to £50bn
How is NOT spending money a saving?  As in, I’ve decided not to buy a £250,000 Rolls Royce, so I’ve “saved” £250,000 … ? But do what instead to ease pressure on existing transport infrastructure?
21. Opposing tolls on public roads – we’ve already paid for them
Oppose who? Presumably, you’d be in government, so who would you oppose? Who is suggesting road tolls? Why is a digital tolling scheme necessarily worse than the road tax scheme we presently have? Variable peak prices could reduce congestion.
22. Supporting bus passes for pensioners with the support of local authorities
This already happens. Presumably Ukip wants to expand that. How is that paid for?
23. Foreign vehicles to require Britdisc passes to contribute to our roads they use
Won’t that make imported goods more expensive?
24. Ending the use of speed cameras as revenue raisers – they should be a deterrent
They are. Most of them are now switched off because they cost too much to run and administrate. The rest of them serve as part of active traffic management systems. This might have been a popular policy in 1992, but this is not 1992.
25. Protecting our green belt
What with? A home defence force? Or are we talking abut planning? If so, what is Ukip’s planning policy and how does it propose to solve the housing shortage and affordability gap? Y’need a policy!
26. A central list of brownfield sites for developers
Like the one that already exists? And why should it be central? I thought Ukip favoured localism?
27. Houses on brownfield sites to be Stamp Duty exempt on first sale
There’s usually a good reason why brownfield sites remain inactive. Often ground contamination from previous use. It will take a lot more than stamp duty exemption. It will require a complete overhaul of the environmental impact assessment laws.
28. VAT relaxed for redevelopment of brownfield sites
See above. – and new build is already VAT exempt. Not forgetting that VAT is an EU tax and so we would be perfectly at liberty to abolish VAT if we wanted to.
29. Local referenda for large-scale development, if triggered by 5% of electorate
I am all in favour of more direct democracy, but this seems divorced from any context. It ought to be a part of a broader package of democratic reforms, but it’s just hanging there, apropos of nothing. Where’s the policy?
30. Introducing the ability for citizens to initiate national referenda
This is the closest Ukip gets to a big idea. But there needs to be safeguards against minority interest self-selection and mob rule. Referendums are not necessarily always an expression of public will. We will need to see details from Ukip. Which have not been forthcoming on this, or anything else.
31. Withdrawing from the European Court of Human Rights
And replace with what? Human rights are good. Fair trials and free speech and such.
32. Reversing the government’s opt-in to the European Arrest Warrant
What’s the point if Ukip wants to scrap the EAW?
33. Negotiating bi-lateral agreements to replace EAW
Easier said than done, I find.
34. No votes for prisoners
So we deprive them of liberty of as a punishment, but deprive them of a voice? I guess this is a matter of personal taste.
35. Full prison sentences should be served, parole on case-by-case basis
That is actually a logical inversion. What is the point of case-by-case parole if full prison sentences are to be served?
36. Replacing the Human Rights Act with a British Bill of Rights
And what would be on that bill of rights? Who would write it?
37. Official documents to be published primarily in English
Like they are now?
38. Cracking down on honour killings, female genital mutilation, and forced marriages
I wasn’t aware the police were going easy on honour killings. They tend to be quick off the mark on murder. Does Ukip have evidence to the contrary? If so, that’s a very serious allegation and ought to be a central campaign issue. As to forced marriages, that is largely something an aspect of immigration with Asians returning to their place of origin to get married. What is Ukip’s immigration policy, beyond vague aspirations that is?
39. Reviewing the BBC license fee with a view to reducing it
To what? Why is Ukip different fro the Tories on this?
40. Taking non-payment of the license fee out of the criminal sphere
You mean make it a civil debt so people then end up with a CCJ and unable to borrow, and have bailiffs banging at their door instead? Doesn’t sound like progress to me. Have another think.
41. Amend the smoking ban to promote choice for ventilated smoking rooms
Oh honestly, who cares anymore? Any pub that was going under because of the smoking ban has done already. Pubs are nicer without smoker. I say that as a smoker. It’s not a big deal.
42. Opposing plain packs for cigarettes, which has had no impact where trialled
Well, it took to number 42 before we got to any hint of sense, but it’s hardly earth shattering.
43. Promoting the employment of young, British workers
How? That’s a vague ambition, not a policy.
44. Repealing the Agency Workers Directive
And replace it with what? This is an interesting one. One must first examine why the directive exists. It is a regulatory response to a long standing problem of rolling six month contracts, largely as a product of previous labour market interventions. AWD is merely another hammer-blow in a game of regulatory whack-a-mole. Ukip clearly doesn’t recognise this otherwise it would have offered a more substantial policy that gets to the root of the issue.
45. Encouraging councils to provide more free parking on High Streets
I’ll let Jackart in his inimitable style address this one. It’s a stupid policy by stupid people who aren’t interested in policy. And it will take more than that to revive the high street.Does Ukip have a policy on that?
46. Simplifying planning regulations for long-term empty commercial properties
Why not just devolve planning policy to councils? You’re all about localism, aren’t you?
47. Extending the right of appeal for micro businesses against Revenue and Customs
In what circumstances? Apropos of what?
48. Negotiating bespoke trade agreements with EU member states and worldwide
Erm, see the thing about the EU is we can’t negotiate with individual EU member states. The EU doesn’t work like that. That’s why eurosecptics want to leave it! That’s where it would help to have a Brexit policy! But Ukipists told us they didn’t need one! Doh! Here we have an anti-EU party that doesn’t EVEN know how the EU works. What are we paying Ukip MEPs for?
49. Reoccupying our seat at the World Trade Organisation
Well that’s kinda implied by way of leaving the EU. That’s why eurosceptics want to leave.What do we do when we get there?
50. Abolishing inheritance tax
Fine fair enough. But that’s £4bn you’ll have to cut when you just said you’ll spend 3bn extra on the NHS.
51. Introducing a 35p income tax rate between £42,285 and £55,000 – taking many public sector workers out of top rate of tax
Is this costed? That’s going to mean some major cuts. What are you cutting? The foreign aid budget can only be spent once over.
52. Setting up a Treasury Commission to make sure big corporations pay their way in taxes
Here is some pretty typical Ukip ignorance. Many of these corporations are not based in the UK. They use freedom of capital rules to evade taxes. This is an international problem that requires an international solution, not least as part of a Brexit policy. Ukip doesn’t have one.
53. Abolishing the Dept of Energy and Climate Change and rolling retained functions into DEFRA
So we’d then have a mega-ministry that looks after power stations and cattle and rivers. Why? Where is the logic?
54. Introducing an Apprenticeship Qualification for students who don’t want to do non-core GCSEs
What does Ukip think core GCSEs are? And how will an apprentice fare without them?
55. Scrapping the arbitrary 50% target for university attendance
This is one of Tony Blair’s most damaging policies. That’s why the Tories got rid of it almost immediately. Which tells us this entire list of “policies” is a cut and paste from obsolete material. Did Ukip even read their 100 reasons before publishing them?
56. Students from the EU to pay the same as International Students
Who said they don’t? And isn’t itimplied that by leaving the EU, all students would be categorised as international students?
57. Introducing more power for parents: OFSTED to investigate schools on petition signed by 25% of parents or governors
Governors can already demand an inspection.Parents only need petition governors.
58. Guaranteeing a job in the police, prison, or border forces for anyone who has served 12 years in the Armed Forces
So if you’ve done 12 years in the logistic corps, you get to be a policeman? No thanks.
59. Priority social housing for ex-service men and women, and those returning from service
They already get a very generous resettlement grant and tuition fee subsidy.
60. Veterans to receives Veteran’s Card to ensure they’re supported in event of mental health care and more
In the event of mental health care? The biggest problem is veterans not seeking help. That is why they end up homeless.You need a comprehensive veteran care policy. Where is it?
61. All entitlements to be extended to servicemen and women recruited from overseas
Stupid and mega stupid.  The whole point of separate arrangements is to encourage serving officers to return to their nation of origin, with a service pension as a means of international development. There are clear developmental advantages to remittances, but a retired officer class is an export of an administrative class that can help build good governance – and is a means of exporting our values. This is precisely what the Gurkhas were for, and extending entitlements to all means we now have to allow them residence along their families as well. Not very sensible for a party that wants to control immigration.
62. Establishing a National Service Medal for all those who have served
So if you’ve done 12 years in the catering corps, you get a medal?This cheapens the very idea of medals. They are given out for distinguished service. What is the point of this policy?
63. Encouraging local authorities to buy out their PFI contracts where affordable
Paid for with what? You’re massively cutting income tax, remember?
64. Ensuring GP’s surgeries are open at least one evening per week where demand permits
That’s one of the few things I’m not inclined to argue with. But there are contractual problems that means the GP service requires a complete redesign. Where is Ukip’s policy? Why does Ukip assume it can succeed in reforming it? Ukips health spokesperson, Louise Bours, admits “Honestly, I have no experience in health whatsoever”.
65. Ensuring migrants have NHS-approved health insurance until they have paid into the system for 5 years
So the NHS will need a whole new bureaucracy to approve all international health insurance products and a recovery department to chase international debts. This presumably means more delays and checks at ports. I don’t think they’ve thought this through.
66. Ending hospital car parking charges
Will likely result in less parking availability. It usually does.
67. Replacing bureaucratic watchdogs with locally elected health boards for more transparency
Can anybody honestly say that elected police commissioners have improved policing? Given the turnout at the recent PCC election in South Yorkshire, it is clear there is little public support for what are essentially overpaid press officers. Elections do not automatically equate with greater accountability or democracy.
68. Stopping the sale of patient data to big business
So Ukip opposes the sale of data from which extrapolations can be made which could improve drugs and patient care. They neglect to say why. There is a need to safeguard privacy, but we don’t want to miss out on the possible benefits of big data insights. You can complain about the shoddy way the government set about it with automatic opt-ins but let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water.
69. Ensuring a high standard of English speakers in the NHS
Who says they don’t, apart from bigoted Ukipists?
70. Amend working time rules to give trainee doctors, surgeons, and medics better environments
Amend to what? Got a policy?
71. Encouraging and protecting whistle-blowing to get to the bottom of poor performance
This is not an unfair thing to say, but poor service delivery is a recurrent theme in British news with the same systemic common defects. Our corporate scale councils and local services are losing touch, are unaccountable and out of control. It will take more than whistle blowers to fix it. You’d need a comprehensive policy based on a detailed and evidence driven analysis. Something Ukip lacks the talent and mental architecture for.
72. Ensuring migrants have jobs and accommodation before they can come to the UK
Not unreasonable. But how will this be enforced? And what will it cost to enforce it? Got a policy?
73. Migrants will only be eligible for residency after 10 years’ working here
Migrants or asylum seekers? If migrants, what is the rationale for keeping them in limbo? Either they qualify for citizenship or they don’t. Does Ukip even know the difference?
74. Reinstating the primary purpose rule, bringing an end to sham marriage migration
The primary purpose rule barred entry into the UK for thousands of people married to British citizens. It was dropped. The then Home Secretary, Jack Straw, said it was being ended because “it is arbitrary, unfair and ineffective and has penalised genuine cases, divided families and unnecessarily increased the administrative burden on the immigration system.” He was right then, and he’s right now.
75. No amnesty for illegal immigrants, or those gaining UK passports via fraud
Amnesties are generally a bad thing. They encourage people to try their luck and disappear into the woodwork until there is one. But we do need a policy to deal specifically with illegal immigrants. Thus far, Ukip doesn’t have one.
76. Protecting genuine refugees by returning to the UN Convention of Refugees principles
The UN Convention is the problem, creating asylum seekers who cannot be returned or ejected. I thought Ukip didn’t want that? We need either to renegotiate the Convention or withdraw from it. You’d need a detailed policy.
77. British companies to be prioritised to deliver foreign aid contracts
I’d rather companies delivering best value for money were prioritised. I want value for money and transparency.
78. Repealing the Climate Change Act 2008 which costs the economy £18n per year
No arguments there. But a cut of £18bn doesn’t pay for all Ukip’s ring-fences and extra spending.
79. Scrapping the Large Combustion Plant directive and redevelop UK power stations
We would do that by way of leaving the EU. It is an EU directive. This actually makes little difference since we have already closed, or have started to wind down LCPD affected plant which was due for renewal anyway. It’s ancient. Does Ukip even have an up to date energy policy?
80. Supporting the development of UK Shale Gas with proper safeguards
Rather a bland statement. As it happens, shale isn’t the big deal anybody thought it was for the UK, not least with oil prices now collapsing. There is something new on the horizon that we have heard nothing about from Ukip.
81. No new taxpayer subsidy for wind farms
What about addressing the old ones?
82. Leaving the Common Agricultural Policy
This is actually a consequence of leaving the EU. CAP is part of the EU. And what do we do instead? The EU will continue to subsidise food producers, so to compete, we will have to subsidise ours. You have already said you would keep the Single Farm Payment, but what is the rest of the CAP replaced with? You’d need a Brexit policy.
83. Allowing parliament to vote on GM foods
It can already do that. If it so chooses.
84. Reinstating British territorial waters
That is implied by leaving the EU. But what about management of those waters where British fleets have sold their quotas to foreign trawlers? You’d need a Brexit policy. And a fisheries management policy for that matter.
85. Food to be labelled with country of origin, method of production, method of slaughter and more
Like it does already? The problem is not labeling, but an epidemic of food fraud. You’d need international co-operation to deal with it, thus a comprehensive policy on trade.
86. Ban live animal exports for slaughter
Why? Is this just one of those feel-good populist policies?
87. Scrapping the Bedroom Tax
The “bedroom tax” is as much about reintegrating people from remote for industrial communities into the economy rather than warehousing them on benefits. It could use a little tweaking to make it fairer to the disabled, but it is a useful tool in the box to tack embedded and long term welfare dependency. It might be popular to say you’ll scrap it, but you also have to state what you would do instead.
88. Child benefit only for children permanently resident in the UK
Not unreasonable.
89. Future child benefit to be limited to first two children only
I wouldn’t argue with that, but it would be just one measure in a full programme of welfare reform. That would require a policy. Where is it?
90. Ensuring an initial presumption of 50-50 parenting on child custody matters
The childrens’ welfare is paramount. The presumption is that the birth mother is best suited – and usually is. But this is why we have a family court system. That needs an overhaul. So where is Ukip’s policy?
91. Safeguarding visitation rights for grandparents
So the state is overriding parents judgement now?
92. Supporting a streamlined welfare system and a benefit cap
Like the Tories do already? What is Ukip’s welfare policy?
93. Enrolling unemployed benefits claimants into workfare or community schemes
Like the Tories do already? What would Ukip do differently?
94. Placing revenues from shale gas into a Sovereign Wealth Fund to ensure future growth and security
How much will this generate? There isn’t a big UK dash for shale gas.
95. Emphasising the immediate need to utilise forgotten British infrastructure like Manston Airport
Why is there an immediate need if it has been forgotten? And it certainly doesn’t look like Manson has been forgotten if you Google it. What on earth does this even mean?
96. No cuts to frontline policing
That ship has already sailed. The police have already been cut, but numbers is not the problem. It’s policing policy. Does Ukip have a police policy?
97. Prioritising social housing for those whose parents and grandparents were born locally
So basically immigrants will be excluded from social housing?
98. Reaffirming British laws, rather than allowing dual-track legal systems for minorities in the UK
Will this mean abolishing Beth Din for Jews, or does this just apply to Muslims?
99. Promoting patriotism and the importance of British values in our schools
What are those British values? How will you promote them? Got a policy?
100. Rebalancing Britain’s economy
To what? What does that even mean?
Conclusion:
Last time I gave Ukip a good fisking I concluded as thus:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This is a party that has no great vision. What we see above is ill thought out guesswork by Ukip, a patchwork with no unifying thread of thought, gaping holes, no applied expertise, no detail, no philosophy and not even a systematic approach to policy making. It is wholly superficial stuff, tinkering with the status quo on the basis of populist sentiment, which is no way to govern a country.
No doubt the Ukipist reaction to this post will be to say that the other party manifestos are equally amateurish and stupid. This is probably true. Were I so inclined I could have a field day driving a horse and cart through a Labor manifesto – and as for the Lib Dems, such would be beyond reasonable analysis and beyond satire. But the crucial distinction is this: Ukip professes to be something different. It isn’t.
Party politics has degenerated into two bald men fighting over a comb, each chasing a marginal constituency of floating voters based on what carries over well in the media. So what if anything in the above makes Ukip distinctive apart from a vaguely defined ambition to leave the EU?
One thing that has plagued politics since 1997 is the steady stream of soundbite announcements dressed up as policy, keeping the churnalists and twitterers fed – and rather than pushing a vision, politics is all done on premise of “fly the flag and see who salutes”.  Enter Ukip doing exactly the same with no real agenda for change, no real idea of what they want – and not the first idea how to get it done.
You don’t have to be a policy analyst to see that no real thought has gone into Ukip’s policy making. This is back of fag packet stuff. We’re a matter of months from a general election and Ukip don’t know what they stand for – but expect us to believe they are an alternative. We can only assume that Ukip takes us for fools too.
The only thing I would add is that we were since promised that Ukip would get its act together and wunderkind Tim Aker would deliver the goods. If this is all Ukip has to offer, a mere 100 days from the election, then it becomes clearer that Aker was sacked after all. And rightly so. And since Suzanne Evans is responsible for releasing this garbage as current campaign material, she should resign.
Yet Another Example Of Ukip Racism from an individual in a position of responsibility
Hi,
all too typical of Ukip:
Besides The Sun pointing out that as a result of the apparent rise of Ukip there is all too great a likelihood that The Tories will fail to get a clear majority, making it a clear risk that after the General election we will have a minority Labour Government propped up by The SNP.
This would clearly risk not only the removal of any chance of a referendum on IN / OUT re the EU but also of the catastrophic ineptitude of Labour and the bungling incompetence of Ed Miliband and Ed Balls under the controlling blackmail of the SNP trying to destroy these United Kingdoms.
The consider just how endemically racist Ukip is, which will give rise to widespread racial and religious hatred, disorder and damage to our society, eith endless low grade race hatred, which will inevitably escalate.
Consider Ukip’s latest example:
Ukip has come under fire for a now-deleted tweet from the  Plymouth branch which said:
“South Yorkshire police says PC Hassan Ali who was under investigation in relation to child abuse in Rotherham has died in a car crash KARMA!”
Just how ‘British’ is the concept of Karma & note how clearly they discriminate against against someone with the name ‘Hassan Ali’, who is innocent until proven guilty – that they rejoice in his death is an unforgivable obscenity!
Ali, 44, died in hospital on Friday, nine days after being struck by a car in Sheffield.
A spokesman for Ukip said the person who sent the tweet had been “disciplined”, any civilised party would have immediately removed ANYONE involved in such an outrageous and unforgivable comment – just how do such vile people have open access to Ukip web sites!.
The @plymouthukip account has been deleted.
This all clearly indicates just how unfit Ukip are for any public office – least of all in Governance in any shape manner or form.
Perhaps one could be forgiven for ignoring such racism were it an isolated incident but not only does it happen time and again but all too often it is covered by a bland claim of disciplin from Ukip’s utterly incompetent press office and their staff and elected officers.
It is hardly surprising in a cult that is so clearly racist that it tolerates the excrecence Gerard Batten and his vile attacks on Muslims in support of his own bronze age superstitions or the low grade racism of Nigel farage who doesn’t even realise it is racist to parade people based upon their race, colour, ethnicity and chosen superstitions as some sort of token to camouflage the endemic racism of the cult he leads.
Are wer too expect Ukip to hold ‘Coon Carnivals’ once elected to show they have no problems with race and colour!
 Hi,
for the impostor Godfrey Bloom, who was parachuted dishonestly into lead position, by the arbitrary firing of Dr. Richard North whose research abilities & knowledge of the EU Nigel Farage found to be a threat to his own abilities, and thus Bloom had a near certain status as an MEP, despite being of little merit or ability in political terms, also with a record in Court of shady dealings.Godfrey Bloom owed his position solely to the work puty into the area by Dr. North and his team and of course his chum and drinking buddy Nigel Farage!It is such hypocrisy to see him post this on his FaceBook page:
 “I have reluctantly called publicly for the resignation of Steve Crowther this weekend. The Amjad Bashir debacle was and is his sole responsibility. We in Yorkshire moved heaven and earth to stop Bashir in February when we found out about his criminal connections. Crowther would simply not listen, he could have been withdrawn from the list with still 8 weeks to go. Crowther put him above Mike Hookem , a trusted long term activist but no. We could have been back to one MEP, after all that hard work and money. This is another foul up in an ever increasing trail, in the interests of UKIP he must go.”
however I would not be surprised were it to be deleted!
When Godfrey Bloom was first announced as a candidate not only did I find much about him on the internet but was able to confirm my opinion, with a couple of conversations with him, that he would prove near useless as an MEP and a liability for Ukip in the long run.An opinion which I conveyed to Nigel Farage in a conversation about strategy and the weakness of Ukip candidates, not one of whom was of any calliber at the time. Naiively little did I realise just how insecure a leader Nigel Farage was and just how bereft of leadership skills or understanding of the need for detail, structure, strategy and a clear vision.
To this day after 22 years, despite the fact that Ukip has talked the talk of wishing to Leave_The_EU they have under Nigel Farage’s efforts to lead them, never had the vaguest of responsible, ethical EU eXit and survival strategies and Farage has feared having intelligent and competent men and women around him; being all too happy to personally select rejects and failures from other political parties, anyone with a title, be there e’re so dim, and a long string of sycophant nebishes grateful for a job way beyond their abilities.
Yet again I note Steve Crowther comes to the fore as Farage’s servant but no servant of the party – this a man who despite seeking answers can not produce a verifiable CV to back his extravagant claims – a man with no traceable executive roll during well over 30 years. Another David Bannerman would be my guess, with a well presented and much embroidered track record of failure that when eventually exposed will have him rushing back to The Lib.Dims, just as did David Bannerman when exposed as a fraud, having been, dishonestly parachuted into position by Farage, he returned to the Tories.
One is forced to wonder whether Ukip under Nigel Farage, and his team of boot lickers, have the vaguest concept of due dilligence let alone ability to conduct such checks when one looks back on the long list of embarrassments they have had with t he likes of the liar and parasite Mark Croucher; their MEPs Tom Wise and Ashley Mote who wound up in prison; the overt racism and vile anti Islamic stance of Gerard Batten MEP and before him MEP (puppet Leader) Jeffrey Titford’s assistant Tony Bennett; The serial liability of the dishonest and foul mouthed personal ‘intimate’ of Farage’s Annabelle Fuller; her chum the Tory plant Stephen Sobey; The hiring and commercial import of cheap Polish labour (people trafficing by any other name) by Roger Knapmann MEP (puppet Leader) and his family; and a long list of token blacks like Winston McKenzie + Pakistanis & Indians selected for their willingness for Farage to parade them in the clearly racist role of proving Ukip isn’t racist, with no hint of realisation of such hypocricy!.
UKIP ARCHIVE SKELETON 01
Clearly Nigel Farage is at his happiest when surrounded by dullards and drunks!
Even the press have picked up this story. More astonishingly still Paul Cahalan was permitted, in part, to publish it, as he regularly is blocked by legal, when trying to publish sound stories about Ukip, with the requirement for ever more proof!:
Ukip knew of Tory defector’s links to convicted kidnapper… BEFORE he became an MEP
  • Ukip leader Nigel Farage claims his party ‘begged’ him to drop Amjad Bashir
  • But party knew about his links to convicted criminal before he became MEP
  • He was allegedly ‘joined at the hip’ to former Ukip spokesman Mujeeb Bhutto
  • Mr Bhutto forced to resign after revelation he masterminded kidnapping plot
When Amjad Bashir sensationally defected to the Conservatives last week, Ukip leader Nigel Farage claimed his party had been ‘begging’ him to drop the MEP after being ‘increasingly alarmed by his behaviour over the last few months’.
But The Mail on Sunday can reveal the party was warned about his links with a convicted criminal a year ago – months before he was elected to the European Parliament.
Local activists urged Ukip chairman Steve Crowther to investigate claims Mr Bashir ‘was joined at the hip’ to Mujeeb Bhutto – a former Ukip spokesman who was forced to resign from the party when it emerged he had masterminded a £56,000 kidnapping plot in Pakistan.
Party spin Mr Bashir's defection to the Conservatives last week triggered an immediate damage limitation exercise by Ukip
Party spin Mr Bashir’s defection to the Conservatives last week triggered an immediate damage limitation exercise by Ukip
Leaked emails, seen by The Mail on Sunday, show that Mr Crowther was warned last February that the pair had possibly broken party rules by not admitting Bhutto’s criminal past, and even questioned if they were ‘Conservative plants’.
Despite this, the party selected Mr Bashir as a candidate and he was elected MEP in May.
Mr Bashir’s defection to the Conservatives last week triggered an immediate damage limitation exercise by Ukip, which announced Mr Bashir had been suspended pending an investigation into ‘extremely serious’ allegations.
These included questions over his ‘continued affiliation with Mujeeb Bhutto, despite the party’s protests against Mr Bhutto’s involvement with Mr Bashir or Ukip’, as well as his ‘finances’ and his alleged interference in a candidate selection processes.
Mr Farage even said that MEPs in his party had been ‘begging me to get rid of Bashir in October and November of last year’ and were ‘increasingly alarmed by his behaviour over the last few months’.
Mr Bashir dismissed Ukip’s response as a ‘desperate attempt’ to smear him and insists there is ‘not a shred of truth’ to the claims.
But last night, former Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom said the leaked emails revealed the party hierarchy knew there were questions over his conduct well before Mr Bashir was appointed as Ukip candidate for the European Parliament. He added Mr Crowther should resign as he had been ‘dishonest’ in his appointment.Mr Bloom said: ‘I am making no criticism of Ukip or Nigel Farage. This is about one man’s dishonesty. I believe Crowther should resign.’
On February 6, 2014, worried party members wrote to Mr Crowther after Bhutto was unmasked as the boss of a gang who kidnapped a Pakistani businessman’s son in Karachi in 2004. Bhutto was later convicted in the UK.
The email to Mr Crowther said: ‘These two have been joined at the hip from the day they joined the party. Bhutto refers to Amjad as uncle… Amjad must have known Bhutto’s past and his convictions.’
It adds: ‘Why did Amjad not disclose the truth, especially as a senior party member? He must have known.’ Finally it questioned whether the pair were ‘Conservative plants’, after it was revealed Mr Bhutto was formerly a Tory Party member.
Mr Crowther apparently investigated some claims and responded to activists on March 2 saying: ‘As I understand it, Mujeeb Bhutto is not related to Amjad Bashir, but has been involved with him in a business context. Mr Bashir tells me he did not know of Mujeeb’s conviction before I raised it with him. At that point, Mr Bhutto confirmed the facts to him and immediately resigned from the party.’
But Mr Bloom said Mr Crowther’s email showed he was ‘trying to sweep the issue under the carpet’. He said: ‘Crowther knew this man’s criminal associations in February.’
Last night, Mr Crowther had no comment to make.
PS.
It would seem that in response to my comment above regarding Steve Crowther someone has made more effort than I to track his CV and although I had heard some of this the following detail may help.
Unfortunately the author sources his or her information but lacked the integrity to put their name to it, posting anonymously; therefore, though I believe it to be correct I can not verify the detail nor vouch for the research (though I have checked several points and they do stand up):
CROWTHER, Steve 02
Although I have found out nothing about Crowther during the 80s other than that he was a press officer for someone, and a trade journalist, he does appear in the record in 1991. At that time he joined Marketing firm Holmes Marchant, who now describe themselves as a brand design consultancy. Crowther was at Holmes Marchant for 10 years, and became a Director of a Subsidiary, Holmes Marchant Communications Limited, from 1995-2000.
In 2000 he left Holmes Marchant, with another H-M director, Fiona Shepherd, and they set up April-Six limited. April Six, a tech marketing company, was sold in 2007 to the Mission Marketing group. By the time it was sold it had 54 staff and Mission paid £9.55M for April Six, with another £9.45M if they performed as well as expected. Given that the crash happened before the second payment I don’t know whether it was paid, but Crowther and Shepherd would have done very well from the first payment, part of which was in H-M shares.
April Six provided consultancy marketing and comms services, to the software, reseller and telecomms industry. No, I don’t know what it means either.
Here’s the information release about the acquisition. Gives a little more detail on what April Six were doing. And from this it looks like the company was owned 50/50 by Crowther and Shepherd.
Also, somewhat bizarrely, he was, for 9 months in 2001, Marketing Director of the Shark Trust, a conservation charity set up to conserve sharks rays and other elasmobranchs in the UK. But he appears to have been a trustee/director, rather than an employee director. Sadly Charities Commission online records don’t go back to 2001 for the Shark Trust which is a pity. If anyone can enlighten me about this episode in the Crowther story, I would appreciate it.
So it seems that Crowther made a small fortune providing marketing services to big players in the software and internet industries during the heady days after the dot com crash and before the credit crunch crash. And he has used his media/marketing nous to great effect, both as a campaigner against wind farms, as well as the brains behind the UKIP project.
Incidentally Chief arsonist of the bonfire of the regulations, Cabinet Office Enforcer Francis Maude, was chair of the Mission Marketing Group during the time when its share value literally evaporated (2006-2009). No wonder Crowther has no love for the Tories.
ALSO:
While in the Shadow Cabinet Maude was accused of hypocrisy by promoting a “family-friendly” image while being the non-executive chairman of Jubilee Investment Trust plc, which held 21% of American pornographic actress Jill Kelly’s adult DVD business,[10] and chairman of the Mission Marketing Group, which has advertised for WKD drinks and Playboy.[11] Maude, “who has railed against irresponsible lending by banks and mortgage companies”, was accused of hypocrisy for receiving more than £100,000 as a director of a company that has profited from sub-prime mortgages. His annual salary was £25,000 from 2002 to 2005, for attending around six meetings a year of the company, and £12,000 a year 2006 to 2008. The company went into liquidation in April 2009.[12]
Hi,
EFDD ‘smear campaign’ used Russian help
A row has erupted between Lithuania’s president and Nigel Farage’s EFDD group over the distribution of an anti-Grybauskaite book in the European Parliament.
An investigation by the European Parliament into the distribution to MEPs of a controversial book that accuses the president of Lithuania of having worked for the KGB has prompted accusations of a smear campaign by the Russian government.
In December, copies of “Red Dalia”, a highly critical biography of Dalia Grybauskaite, were placed in the pigeonholes of almost every MEP.
Antanas Guoga, a liberal Lithuanian MEP, filed a complaint about unauthorised distribution of material from outside the Parliament, which was placed in MEPs’ pigeonholes, in violation of the Parliament’s rules. The investigation found that the book was distributed by Kevin Ellul Bonici, who works for the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group. The investigation, which was supposed to be internal but details of which were leaked to the press, found that Ellul Bonici, who is from Malta, invited two men from Russia into the Parliament in Brussels on 10 December to help him distribute copies of the book.
The EFDD has often been accused of acting as an apologist for Russian President Vladimir Putin and cultivating close ties with Moscow.
A spokesperson for the EFDD group said it had not been officially notified of the results of the inquiry. “The man who is alleged by others to have distributed the book is currently on sick leave,” he said. “For these reasons, no disciplinary investigation can yet take place.”
However, the Parliament is pressing ahead with disciplinary action. A Parliament spokesperson said: “Someone from the EFDD group will be formally reprimanded for having made irregular use of the members’ pigeonholes.”
While Ellul Bonici has stayed silent on the matter, his wife has not. Sharon Ellul Bonici used to work for the EFDD but switched at the end of the last term to become secretary-general of Marine Le Pen’s planned far-right alliance, which is trying to attract enough MEPs to be officially recognised as a group by the Parliament. Sharon Ellul Bonici told the newspaper Malta Today: “This is news to him [her husband] and he said he wants his name cleared.”
The incident has also caused a conflict with the book’s author, Ruta Janutiene, who says that she did not give permission for her work to be translated into English. It was copies of the unauthorised English translation that were distributed to MEPs.
Claims and counter-claims
Grybauskaite’s supporters believe that Russia is behind the stunt, in retaliation for the Lithuanian president’s outspoken criticism of Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
Guoga told Lithuanian media that he believes Rolandas Paksas, the country’s impeached former president who is now an EFDD MEP, is responsible. Guoga pointed to a recent visit by Nigel Farage, the EFDD group’s co-leader, to the party congress of Paksas’s Order and Justice party as evidence of a plan to smear Grybauskaite’s name.
Paksas denies the allegations, and told Lithuanian radio that Guoga has “lost his mind“ and should “think about his family and children”.
Guoga took this as a threat, and the leader of the liberal ALDE group, Guy Verhofstadt, has contacted Martin Schulz, the president of the European Parliament, asking him to ensure Guoga’s safety.
