Hi,

I must say that seeking out how others see us is always an interesting excercise as it shows such a different view to that of either ones own view or the view put forward by those under analysis.

Perhaps this should be done far more often as not only would it tend to break the deeply incestuous beliefs of political parties and public service groups like the BBC, The Civil Service, The Military and the like – Not to mention the self proclaimed introspection of the Westminster Elite or those with self important roles for which they over pay themselves such as Councils and EU Assemblies.

It might even enlighten the blind in Britain, America and elsewhere who see some kind of merit in shooting and bombing people to force them into democracy in a model which we ourselves have failed to either standardise, codify or anywhere near perfect!

Britain’s Pat Buchanan Party

A less libertarian, more populist UKIP terrifies London’s elite.
By Timothy Stanley • January 15, 2015
FARAGE, Nigel 106 DEAD MAN WALKING

A fascinating thing about the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP): the worse its press, the better it does. In the run-up to the Clacton parliamentary by-election in October—a race to see whether defecting Tory MP Douglas Carswell would return to Parliament under UKIP’s banner—Matthew Parris of the Times devoted his column to ridiculing not just UKIP but its elderly supporters: “Clacton-on-Sea is a friendly resort trying not to die, inhabited by friendly people trying not to die.” UKIP won the election with nearly 60 percent of the vote. In the aftermath of November’s by-election in Rochester and Strood—which settled the fate of another Tory defector, Mark Reckless—the Guardian’s Nick Cohen described UKIP as “an alliance of the septic and the geriatric: a movement of the empty-headed led by the foul-minded.” Cohen concluded that while the party wasn’t quite fascist, it certainly played with racism. In which case, there must be an awful lot of closet Nazis in Rochester because UKIP had just won the seat with 42 percent of the vote.

The sheer disgust that many liberals direct at UKIP reflects the fact that Britain is undergoing a culture war. On the side of ordinary folk with old-fashioned tastes is UKIP. Pitched against them is the entire edifice of the metropolitan elite located in the nicer bits of London: the mainstream parties, big business, and the media. That this battle is taking place is no shock to anyone with eyes and ears. But that UKIP has become the people’s party is a real surprise, considering its beginnings on the marginal, eccentric right.

UKIP was founded in 1993 by academic Alan Sked. He intended the party to be a broad vehicle for opposition to Britain’s membership in the European Union—a cause that has long attracted people from the right and left. The right attacks the EU’s infringement of sovereignty, whereas the left regards it as an effort to impose free-market capitalism from above. But while Sked hoped to create some grand coalition of the high-minded, the early party quickly became a bolt hole for ex-Conservative Party members concerned with what they saw as growing softness within Torydom. Sked quit as leader shortly after the 1997 general election that swept the Labour Party to power. UKIP, he said, had become “infected by the far-right.” He called its new leader, Nigel Farage, “a dimwitted racist.”

Nevertheless, the conditions of the 2000s were the perfect incubator for UKIP’s politics of anxiety. British household debt more than quadrupled since 1990, pockets of poverty festered, and new issues emerged that liberals did not want to discuss in front of the children. The government signed a treaty with the EU that opened Britain’s markets to East European immigrants. Labour predicted that just 13,000 would arrive. The actual number was more than one million. While all this was going on, politicians were engaged in a race to the center. Labour abandoned its old economic socialism, and the Tories became more socially tolerant.

The result was that when the credit crunch hit in 2008, all the parties looked eerily similar, and any voter who wanted serious reform of the system had few options within the mainstream. The Conservative Party won the 2010 election, with enough seats to form a coalition government, on the strength that it wasn’t the Labour Party—but it lacked broad-based popular support or the enthusiasm of its restive right-wing base. One of Prime Minister David Cameron’s first priorities was to legalize gay marriage.

UKIP took a long time to exploit this situation effectively. In 2004, it placed third in elections for the European parliament on a quit-the-EU platform; in 2009, UKIP came second. The party was definitively, maybe crazily, right-wing. Its manifesto was Thatcherite, with a prominent libertarian streak: no gay marriage, but perhaps some decriminalization of drugs and a hearty endorsement of flatter taxes and smaller government. Had more people read and understood the manifesto, they might never have voted for it—but it had a great salesman in Nigel Farage, party leader, but for a brief hiatus, since 2006. Farage smokes unashamedly, drinks thirstily, has an eye for feminine pulchritude, and is at home talking politics with the man down the pub. To meet him is to instantly like him—if you like that sort of thing. To centrist politicians raised on a puritan diet of political correctness, he is like some horror from the mummy’s tomb. But to those who wear a hangover with pride, Farage is a tonic to politics as usual.

Farage’s populism helped UKIP reach out to working-class voters who typically stuck with the left. All the time that journalists—such as myself—were characterizing UKIP as the part of the wealthy country-club set, the party was quietly capitalizing upon the growing sense that Labour had lost its soul. Two urban myths appeared to confirm the death of the left: it is commonly said that half of Labour’s membership lives in London and that half is composed of state school teachers. These statistics are based upon leaks and rumors rather than concrete facts, but they paint a picture that fits with the prejudices of voters who have come to identify less and less with socialism and more and more with Farage’s sociability. In 2014, UKIP placed first in the European elections and, for the first time, ate greedily into Labour’s vote. thisarticleappeared-janfeb15

At this point, the party changed. UKIP was always torn between those who saw it as an anti-European pressure group, trying to move Britain to the right without ever taking power, and those who wanted it to emerge as a serious party capable of winning seats on a platform that would ally the socially conservative middle class and the economically blighted working class. In the wake of its victory in Labour areas during the European elections, the party embraced the latter, more populist strategy. The old manifesto was dropped in favor of offering something to everyone who felt locked out of mainstream politics: protection of the National Health Service, the promise of lower taxes, withdrawal from the EU and, crucially, a new emphasis upon reducing European immigration. UKIP insists that it simply wants to create a more level playing field, ending the bias towards unskilled European immigration and welcoming skilled workers from the rest of the world. But on the campaign trail it is obvious what voters have interpreted this new political direction to mean: UKIP will safeguard your job by closing the borders.

Comparisons with American populist presidential candidates are striking. Figures like Pat Buchanan—who in 1992 and 1996 wanted to outlaw abortion and build a border fence, while also protecting American businesses with trade barriers—are accused of philosophical inconsistency by those who just didn’t get their appeal. Yet this mix of left- and right-wing ideas makes perfect sense if you see yourself as the representative not of an ideological tradition but of a particular constituency—the constituency of people who once had something but who feel they’ve lost it, and they want it back.

It is often said, with little proof, that UKIP voters want to turn Britain back to the 1950s. To which one has to ask, “And why not?” Who wouldn’t want to return to an era of world power, mass church attendance, and jobs for life? Speaking to voters in both Clacton and Rochester, I was struck by the narrative of decline. In Clacton, one woman told me that because of mass immigration it was impossible for young people to get low-skilled jobs anymore—so they hit the bottle, did drugs, went on benefits, or fled to London. Once upon a time, Clacton was a thriving seaside town. Now the glamour is faded; the pier is empty, the amusement rides stand silent.

Things were also grim in Rochester, where the hospital has for years been stuck in special measures (a notice of failed performance) and the visitor is struck by the sense of post-industrial decay. Sitting with UKIP’s candidate on a park bench in front of the breezy Medway River, I was told that in fact the constituency enjoyed falling crime and rising employment. But that statistical evidence is eclipsed by the bigger truth that large swathes of Britain are ignored by the powerful. Politics, culture, and finance are London-centric. People trying to build lives and do jobs in the provinces have adopted the weary, abused look of all those sad districts governed by the chichi Capitol in The Hunger Games.

That said, don’t expect UKIP to form the next government. In Britain’s first-past-the-post electoral system the recipient of the most votes wins the constituency, which means having to gain margins of around 40 percent to win any seat—a tall order for a party used to getting just 3 percent. There are only about six seats that UKIP are fairly confident of exploiting the divisions between the main parties to win. And even if they found themselves enjoying a significant representation in a hung parliament after next year’s elections, establishment leaders would rather ally with the devil than invite Farage’s party into a coalition government.

Therein lies UKIP’s problem: it has a ceiling to its support that is defined by popular perceptions of its respectability. Polls show that the number of voters who admire the party is dwarfed by those who strongly dislike it. In some parts of the country, it is toxic. When Nigel Farage visited Scotland during its recent independence campaign, he was booed, threatened, and forced to hide out in a pub—which may have been a blessing in disguise. Paradoxically, while the rise of UKIP has illustrated the failure of mainstream politics, its limited success has demonstrated the establishment’s stubborn resilience. UKIP, like Buchanan-style populism, has probably gone as far as it can go. The establishment, in turn, has been squeezed as far as it will permit its own humiliation. All the money, the power, the influence, and, critically, the electoral system itself, still favor the status quo.

What UKIP can do is chip away at enough of the support of the Conservatives and Labour to force them to change their policies. It is generally thought that UKIP could cost David Cameron the next election by denying him majorities in dozens of seats. The smarter Tories acknowledge this and are urging a return to red-meat conservative policies. If the UKIP experience has a global message for the right, it is that while the base might often seem an electoral liability, elections are usually impossible to win without it. In an age when all politics are loathed equally by the voters, the ability to generate enthusiasm among a dwindling band of true believers suddenly counts for a great deal.

UKIP MEP James Carver ‘victim of Romany racial abuse’

James CarverJames Carver said he had been deeply offended by messages sent to him via Twitter

Related Stories

A UKIP MEP has said he was subjected to racist abuse on social media because of his Romany gypsy background.

James Carver, who represents the West Midlands, said he received “deeply offensive” tweets referring to him as a “pikey”.

The word is regarded as a derogatory term for members of the traveller community.

West Mercia Police confirmed it had received a complaint and was looking into Mr Carver’s allegations.

‘Stigma’

Mr Carver, 64, said he would “not tolerate such comments, least of all from so-called internet trolls”.

“The public must comprehend that the everyday use of this word only serves to further stigmatise these forgotten communities,” he said.

“It is as offensive as racist expletives that are used against other minorities.”

Police confirmed the complaint had been received at a station in Worcester last week.

From other news sites

On the one hand we have this sad and insecure little man wasting police time and making a great issue of being called a Pikey due to his background yet his leader Nigel Farage has allied Ukip with the racsit gutter sweepings of EU politics in return for increased bribes from the EU.

Jim Carver is unashamedly of Romany origins, just as Nigel Farage’s ancestry is German yet both seem only too happy to support and collude with overt racists in their EU EFDD Political Group some of whom can only be described as extremists.

On the one hand we have the the racist incitement of the utterly irresponsible Ukip MEP Gerard Batten who due to his chosen superstitions, no doubt exacerbated by his Filipino wife who would have been brought up under the influence of cardinal Sin, who issues anti Islamic propaganda, whilst Nigel Farage the leader of Ukip makes political capital out of exploiting anti immigrant sentiments lately jumping on the bandwagon of ‘Je suis Charlie’.

We have on the one hand the insecure Jim Carver bleating about being called a Pikey, surely he is man enough to brush this aside and set out to show how valuable Pikey’s are in our society, just as Nigel Farage supported his protege a Ukip PPC Kerry Smith (CLICK HERE) for his rant about Chinkys!

It is clear that due to poor leadership Ukip, even at its most senior has a lack of control, a lack of vision and only when self interest comes to play does it show its true hand.

It is unarguable that, as Gerard Batten, Kerry Smith, Jim Carver, Nigel Farage and many others are either overtly racist or at very best all too willing to exploit racism and work with racist extremists – little wonder they have followed in the footsteps of Oswald Moseley and Adolf Hitler who also saw a rise in membership when they singled out minority groups as a target.

Clearly there is a pool, in the gutters of political thought, of some 5 – 15% who are largely the losers in a civilised society, who are all too willing to support racism and such parties who espouse it be it e’r so thinly disguised as anti immigrant or opposed to one Bronze Age superstition or another!

You will note Ukip’s own web site:

Free Speech and Democracy

issues_democracy.png

• No to Political Correctness – it stifles free speech.

• The law of the land must apply to us all. We oppose any other system of law.

• Teach children positive messages and pride in their country. We want to unite through better integration.

UKIP is a patriotic party that believes in putting Britain first. Only UKIP will return self-government to the British people.

see CLICK HERE

Clearly Ukip is not just convincingly confussed but very clearly deeply flawed and unfit to represent others, particularly the majority who espouse self determination, reduction in PC, National sovereignty, National borders and a tollerant multi ethnic society melding to form one culture that is ‘British’.

Perhaps those who wish to run, crying at every slight, to waste police time, and are clearl;y unwilling or unable to provide leadership and a clear EU eXit strategy that is ethical, practicable and responsible, even after 22 years, should not seek to represent others, whatever financial rewards they personally accrue, and should stick to selling telephones, commodities and umbrellas for which they are clearly better trained and better suited.

o-OVERWHELMED-570are offensive to others, particularly those of a very frail and waring belief structure which sets factions and cults within its collective superstition at odds, and being a largely unmodernised bronze age culture which underlies the ‘faith’, why is anyone surprised when they react against such violent images – consider the obscene and violent behaviour of the Westboro Baptists, and the Mormons who have killed numerous book dealers for daring to provide proof their chosen superstition is pure hokum or the so called christians who kill doctors and blow up clinics because they disagree or the christian cult which denies help to children whose lives can be saved with modern medicine.Need I continue?

Well sadly yes! There is a saying that to give a child the encouragement of one adult they will take on the world – you will note that the encouragement of a few million has given the weak minded the encouragement to continue with their childish French version of Viz, which only ever published 60,000 copies, all in French, to supply the bigotted and racist peoples of France and a few commentators! The magazine has over many issues risked closure on a regular basis by its propensity for stimulating racial hatred, yet with encouragement it continues its offensive behaviour:
CHARLIE HEBDO Cover 13-Jan-2015To understand something of the background to the hypocrisy that is portrayed as French Patriotism though more accurately can be shown to be Nationalism thinly masking their overt racism.I do not believe that this extrapolation of the torrid little cartoon is coincidental:

CHARLIE HEBDO Cover 14-Jan-2015 02I like Volaire unequivocally defend the right of freedom of speech and people’s right to say what they believe, that I may have utter contempt for such an individual, who abuses this fundamental right, is also true and doubly so when it is done for commercial or personal gain, as with Charlie Hebdon.

Never does the ill manners and ignorance of the inadequate who exploits this privilege, to the detriment of others, justify ANY form of physical or violent reprisal – their was a lapse of ethic and is best rebutted by ethical reprisal and censure.

With the privilege of freedom of speech comes responsibility – sadly a value widely abused as with comedians who push their right to freedom of speech with obscenities and abuse as a substitute for competence in the field of humour.

It is clearly an abuse of freedom of speech to deliberately and gratuitously insult and abuse the beliefs of others and the greater the offence cause the greater that abuse.

Little wonder that Charlie Hebdo was teetering on the verge of bankrupcy and closure with its tasteless and mature abuse of others in the name of satire – gratuitous offence is not satire it is the defence of a charlatan for inability.

I understand that Charlie Hebdo was not only failing to increase circulation but was in fact non viable with a maximum of 60,000 copies an issue and had recently launched a fund raising appeal and effort to raise €1,000,000 to stave off closure failing rightly to raise even 10%. It is hard to consider it a satirical magazine when in reality it was a failed and rather noxious publication pandering to racism and anti establishment values or lack thereof.

Perhaps further consideration of a posting I made previously on another of my blogs is worthy of republication:

How France Treats It’s Citizens – To their eternal shame.
.

Posted by: Greg Lance-Watkins – Greg_L-W.

.
Hi,

much is made of British mistreatment of Muslims.

let me be very clear here, before I start – I do not buy into any belief in any god or gods and tend to believe there has been no greater source of evil, or cover for evil, than mankind’s determination to invent gods to worship/blame and then seek to force these superstitions on others.

In todays world we are in the main saddled with the evils of a triumverate of rival bronze age superstitions, invented with the purposes of control, a back up for tribal laws drawn up by elders and an answer for questions that could not be left for ever in the too difficult column!

Science has moved on, as has the thinking and recording abilities of mankind in the intervening years since Judaism, Christianity and Islam were invented and formed their many cults and schisms as rivals within the doctrines battle for power.

These master plans have to varying degrees moved on to capture new audiences as with adding spare god like beings (prophets, angels and the like) to entrap the multi theists. Meanwhile new rituals and depictions were apposite to capture other followers, as with those who worshipped women to who the sop of ‘Mary’ in some quaint form of deity was added or ‘hallos’ to depict the sun and be a symbol of the sun god worshippers be they amongst those worshipping Ra in Egypt or the rising sun of Wicker and the Celtic Druidic cultures or even the sun worship amongst the Incas and Aztecs.

Now of course so called Christianity is a host of different factions be they Catholic, Baptist, Anglican, Orthodox, liberal, WeeFree, Presbyterian, evangelical, Morman, born again, Mixed Presbyterian, New Life Ministry, Alpha Group, Emmanuel Baptist, Westboro baptist, church in Wales, high church, low church, Cathar, trapist, Russian orthodox, Greek orthodox, Quaker, franciscan, Fallmouth New Life Church, United Reform Church, dominican, Scottish Presbyterian, Dutch reformed, house, reformed, methodist, Jehova’s Witness, Later Day Saints,  and a host of other rival factions in christianity alone!

For a few 100 more factions in christianity alone CLICK HERE
Each with their own leaders, prophets, founders, customs and singular certainty making a mockery of the entire concept of so called ‘religion’.

The jews, the zionists, the khazara, the ashkenazi, the frummers, the muslims, the wahabe, sunni, shiite and their ilk are all broken into yet more fragments and possibly the only man who had the measure of them can be understood more clearly if you CLICK HERE

To add perspective realising VY Masses Majoris at 62.5 AU is 1,000s of times the size of our sun at 1.2GM which is 1,000s of time the size of our weeny planet at 5.5MGM which itself is almost 3 times the size of Mars and much larger than Ceres, Iris Pluto and our own moon!

Minded of, in my opinion, the utter irrelevance of mankind and our incredible insignificance in terms of our planet let alone our solar system and more significantly our universe as we understand it I find it completely implausible to believe in gods, let alone a supreme being overseeing us.

It seems that gods are little more than a bronze age superstition dreamed up on the back of earlier superstitions; superstitions that are and have remained arcane.

I do not deny that there are many people, indeed peoples, who have a need to believe in some all powerful being, both to answer to in their aspirations and to blame for their own failures. It is when these rather bizarre and disparate rival views are used to inculcate rivalry, hatred and a need to protheletise that the concept becomes a force for evil and the more strident the belief is the more damaging that evil becomes.

I have no desire to force those who need a prop in their lives to kick over that prop but just as they might believe it unkind of me, were I to show their views to be false and force that view on them I find it deeply offensive that they seek to force their superstitions upon me.

I have lost more good friends as a result of their desperate insecurity and wish to force their views on me than for any other reason, force which is often initially displayed in the odious manner of patronising attitudes of we know better – when clearly they know nothing but seek to substitute knowledge as a terminology for their various beliefs.

I am happy for my friends, and others, that they have a prop for their lives and the goals that their superstition provides for them and do not seek to dominate their view with mine. However please do not expect me to silently stand by and be insulted and abused when they display the desire to convert me or promote their, to me, risible superstition – particularly when in the whole of human history they can not offer a shred of evidence nor a body of proof of their opinion.

It is for these reasons that I believe that a State religion is no more than a display of the desperate insecurity of that would be State and where better to display this than the obscenity of the behaviour of zionism and zionists in Palestine and the manner in which, in the name of judaism, the peoples of Palestine have been dispossessed, abused, hounded, persecuted and imprisoned behind walls and wire, in the world’s largest open prison in the name of the evil that judaism has permitted zionism to carry out in their name – to their eternal shame.

Indubitably the closes relation of the zionists are the followers of islam and it is easy to identify a number of States that are founded on the evil of enforcwement of their chosen supertition upon its peoples be that the oppresive wahabe followers of the kingdom of the Sauds, the extremism of the Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Oman, TAS and more where the barbarism of their laws and customs is endorsed and practiced by their rulers in the name of some twisted and evil interpretation of the bronze age writings of a self styled cleric and prophet sponsored by the wealth of his considerably older wife!

Mohammed clearly drew up the tennets of belief in support of a largely rural peoples in a harsh desert region, short of water, where many of the peoples were nomadic – a codex designed to display hospitality, generosity, tollerance and other common values amongst the numerous family tribes, a codex by which they could live alongside each other in some harmony, a step forward from endless inter tribal rivalries.

It was not long before the doctrine and its codex of civilising laws fell into the hands of men of evil seeking to interpret it to their own gain be they sunni, shiite, wahabe or a mriad of factions following false prophets and their so called martyrs; many martyred in the name of one display of jealosy or greed or another between the factions.

Let us in the context of these facts consider France, which may seem something of a leap – but is it!

France, which lays claim to ‘the enlightenment’ yet through its history has resorted to barbarism, brutality and acts of cruel indifference and arrogance with the cloak of ‘patriotism’ being misrepresented as that of ‘nationalism’ as a particularly febrile cover for unbridled racism.

Consider the barbarism of the 1,000s of women burned at the stake in France in the Middle Ages and the cruielty of the great war lords of France where in massive oppulence the likes of the Dukes of Corsay starved their peasant farmers and massacred their rivals – behaviour so redollent of the regime of the Sun King and the palaces and life style of Versailles.

When in 1830 the French invaded Algeria confronting muslims and their heritage they devised, over the next century their codex of law for the conquered peoples of Algeria an ‘Indigenous Code’ that not only denied the indigenous peoples any right or opportunity to access education for their children, self respect or positions of any responsibility in governance. A codex that justified French brutality and maswsacres of literally 1,000s of the indigenous peoples.

The barbarity of the French was akin to the brutality of the Spanish & Italian Conquistadores in central and south America of a previous era.

The French claim of civilisation is only surface deep only as displayed by the fact that when eventually in 1954 the Algerians rose against this bestial behaviour, seeking independence and the dignity of self determination.

The efforts to repress the Algerians were obscene in their brutality with the French Government tacitly authorising torture, beatings and killings and never holding anyone to account as they spirited away the criminals acting on the State’s behalf, be they police, French paras or Legion Etranger.

Little wonder that the Algerians increasingly retaliated more violently with the FLN, CRUA, APP & MNA when General Massu instituted concentration camps for some 2 million rural Algerians and punitive strikes against villages that were thought to perhaps harbour dissidents from the FLN which he ruthlessly destroyed on the orders of Charles de Gaulle in 1956 forming the groundwork of ‘apartheid’ as practiced by the boers in South Africa.

Then in 1958 General Salan implemented a policy of division enforced by the injustice of collective responsibility in the style of the Nazis in the conquest of such areas of France that did not succumb.

Finally the vote for independence was forced upon the French and was almost unanimous in its opposition to French rule.

Some 4-6 million French citizens living in ghettos in France are of Algerian descent to this day, where due to the racist nature of the French and the brutality of their management of minorities the hatreds have continued and they are treated disgracefully, building a future of unresolved problems, where those of Algerian descent have difficulty in finding education for their children, health care, housing and work, leaving them bereft of hope and with increasing, and dangerous, resentment wherwe the French seek to blame the results on Islam when clearly it is only the evil lunatic fringe of Islamism thaty exploits this in terms of criminality – similar to the criminal exploitation in Ireland by the IRA!

Consider the reporting of the French massacre of those of Algerian descent in France of 1961, as featured below and consider what problems such brutality is storing up for the France of the future in its racist nationalism and it would seem deservedly so!

.

The modern massacre that shames the French: The police slaughter of Algerian immigrants (just 50 years ago) that’s been airbrushed from history

A solid phalanx of French riot police in blue and black uniforms held their ground at one end of the bridge over the River Seine that connects the western suburb of Neuilly to the centre of Paris.

They were a terrifying sight, fully kitted out for battle and raring to go. At the other end stood another line of police, also armed with batons and rifles.

In between them stood around 100 unarmed and very frightened Algerians. Carrying banners and placards, they had come onto the streets of the French capital with 30,000 others that day to protest at official curbs on their freedom to move about the city.

The date was October 17, 1961 – 50 years ago this month – and the bloodbath that was to unfold that autumn day was to be one of the most barbaric and shaming events in ‘civilised’ Europe’s post-war history.

It still casts an uneasy shadow over France’s large population of North African immigrants. For decades, the truth about October 17 was suppressed. Even today, to a certain extent, France is deluded about what it reveals about the dark racist streak in the country’s psyche.

Under the presidency of General Charles de Gaulle, France was the land of liberty, equality and fraternity, yet what lay just beneath the surface was about to be revealed — repression, racism and violence.

The police began to advance, slowly, from either side, but this was no ‘kettling’ exercise designed to contain and disperse the demonstrators. The intention was to beat, maim and kill.

The trapped Algerians — citizens of France, in fact, because Algeria was at that point still a French colony — had nowhere to run.

As the two police lines met, batons were swung, shots were fired, panicking men, women and even children were cut down. Some were hurled, dead or alive, into the waters of  the Seine.

All over Paris, similar fatal clashes were taking place as the police used indiscriminate and unfettered force to break up the demonstration.

Algerians arriving from the shanty towns on the city outskirts where they lived were ambushed at Metro stations, herded together and beaten with truncheons. Eye-witnesses saw police cornering Algerians in side streets and clubbing them at will.

At some of Paris’s most famous tourist landmarks — from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, the Champs Elysees and the Latin Quarter — there were vicious and utterly one-sided street battles.

Hadj Abdel Aziz was organising demonstrators in the Place de la Nation, the same square where, in the French Revolution 200 years earlier, the guillotine had operated.  It was now the scene of a new kind  of terror.

‘The police shot at people, who fell down wounded or dead,’ he says. ‘Everyone scattered, and I ran to  the entrance to the Metro where I was kicked and crushed. I got  home covered in blood and broken by my wounds.’

How many Algerians did not make it home is still a matter of conjecture and dispute. The official police figure that day was an impossible three dead — two Algerians shot and one, they said, who had died from a heart attack. Algerian sources went to the other extreme, claiming 300 deaths.

The exact number has never been pinned down. In so far as there is any consensus even now on the October 17 death toll, it is only that anywhere between 32 and 200 were killed.

What is certain is that for weeks after, bodies were washed up on the banks of the river. According to the Left-wing writer Simone de Beauvoir: ‘Corpses were found hanging in  the Bois de Boulogne and others, disfigured and mutilated, in the Seine.’

Some of the police involved were so disgusted at their own actions that, many years later, they confessed to taking part in a hate crime.

‘For two hours we hunted and shot anything that moved,’ says one, named Raoul Letard. ‘We were waging a war and our adversary was the Algerians.’

So what precisely was it that sparked off events that left the streets of Paris and the river Seine running with blood?

In Algeria, France’s North African colony since 1830, separatists had been fighting a bloody terrorist war for independence for seven years, and were on the verge of winning.

The 200,000-strong Algerian community living and working in France at that time were considered by the security forces to be a suspicious and dangerous fifth column.

Some of the police involved were so disgusted at their own actions that, many years later, they confessed to taking part in a hate crime.

The violence of the fighting in Africa had spread on to the streets of France as supporters of the two rival factions vying for power in Algeria clashed openly in Paris.

When they weren’t killing each other, they targeted policemen with bullets and bombs.

Onto the scene came one of the most controversial figures in modern French politics — Maurice Papon.

He had been a leading figure in the French police force that collaborated with the Germans in World War II. (In 1998 he would be convicted of having rounded up Jews to send to Auschwitz, jailed for ten years and disgraced.)

But in the aftermath of the war,  he and many other collaborators  like him had been accepted back into the fold.

He became a police chief in Algeria, and in dealing with the guerrilla forces of the Algerian National Liberation Front, the FLN, he built a fearsome reputation for brutality, summary executions and torture.

And then he was appointed prefect of police in Paris to crack down on any trouble from Algerians in the city.

The lugubrious Papon — the sort of man who never used a nutcracker when a sledgehammer would do — immediately set out his stall by recruiting a special police force of former soldiers who had fought for France in Algeria and had no love for its people.

He gave them free rein to stop and search, detain without charge and torture French-based members of the FLN.

De Gaulle dismissed the killings as 'a matter of secondary importance', and in 1968 issued an amnesty to all police personnel for crimes committed during the war with Algeria

De Gaulle dismissed the killings as ‘a matter of secondary importance’, and in 1968 issued an amnesty to all police personnel for crimes committed during the war with Algeria

In essence, he unleashed a dirty  war against the entire Algerian community, all of whom he considered to be suspects.

But the FLN was not about to be cowed. With diplomatic negotiations underway to bring the war in Algeria to an end and give the country its independence, it attempted to hurry things along by stepping up terror attacks on the streets of Paris.

Twenty policemen were killed, half of them in the first two weeks of October 1961.

At one emotion-charged funeral, Papon promised retaliation. ‘For each blow received, we’ll respond with 10,’ he told them. He then announced a curfew on the so-called ‘French Muslims of Algeria’. They were banned from the streets between 8.30pm and 5.30am.

The FLN hit back with mass demonstration, ruthlessly using death threats to coerce some of  its more reluctant supporters to join in.

Cannily it gave the order that they were to go on to the streets totally unarmed, with not even a penknife that might be seen as an offensive weapon and invite retaliation. Organisers even frisked those taking part to make sure they weren’t carrying hidden weapons.

Some demonstrators were arrested and taken to police headquarters near Notre Dame, where they were confined in a courtyard and battered to death. Police handing out the beatings first removed the identification numbers from their uniforms.

Papon flooded Paris with 7,000 police, possibly more. He wound them up to a pitch of fury and then unleashed them with the promise they would never be called to account for anything they did that day.

‘I give you my word that you will be covered,’ he told them.

The stage was set for a vindictive act of vengeance that would quickly descend into mass murder.

Nor was it just in the streets that violence took place. Some demonstrators were arrested and taken to police headquarters near Notre Dame, where they were confined in a courtyard and battered to death.

Police handing out the beatings first removed the identification numbers from their uniforms.

Senior officers — quite possibly even Papon himself — watched the brutality, ignoring pleas by shocked officers to halt the killing.

Meanwhile, as many as 14,000 other Algerians were being rounded up and detained in internment centres. There, more harsh treatment was meted out with rifle butts and pick handles.

‘They tortured us with hot iron rods to learn the names of our leaders. At night they woke us with jets of water,’ says one man.

He recalled having to go through a gauntlet of baton-wielding riot police to get to the toilets. ‘We preferred to pee in our pants.’

A cover-up began as soon as the mayhem on the streets subsided, with Papon maintaining his men had fired only after they themselves had been shot at. He claimed that any bodies in the street were  the result of in-fighting among Algerians themselves. The Paris newspapers generally accepted this explanation and dug no deeper.

The Communist Party spoke out against what had happened, as did isolated groups and some individuals in the Paris council and the national government.

It was not until the Eighties suspicions about what happened on the terrible day rose to the surface and investigations began

But since cameras had been confiscated from photographers who filmed incidents that did not fit the official story and newspaper accounts were censored, there was no hard evidence to go on.

There was no wave of revulsion that could disturb the French government’s position. The waters closed over the entire incident.

Then, when the Algerian war ended in a truce just months later in March 1962 and Algeria won its independence, the hate-filled events of October 17, 1961, seemed redundant — best glossed over by all sides in the spirit of co-operation between France and the new Algerian government.

De Gaulle dismissed the killings as ‘a matter of secondary importance’, and in 1968 issued an amnesty to all police personnel  for crimes committed during  the war with Algeria. No one was ever brought to account,  and silence about what had happened remained unbroken for two decades.

Now, 50 years on, it is finally clear that the French police force inflicted grotesque, racially-motivated violence on a community whose actions in no way merited the extreme punishment handed out to them.

It was not until the Eighties that suspicions about what happened on that terrible day rose to the surface and investigations began.

In 1991, a book reconstructing the day in detail put the number of Algerian deaths at 200 and used the word ‘massacre’.

Papon sued the author for libel, but lost the case after being forced to admit the body count he had put at three was at least ten times  that figure.

France and the world finally opened their eyes to what had happened on the Neuilly Bridge, the Place de la Nation and all the other dark spots in the so-called City of Light.

Now, 50 years on, it is finally clear that the French police force inflicted grotesque, racially- motivated violence on a community whose actions in no way merited the extreme punishment handed out to them.

Some believe that the massacre was the result of confused government policies towards North Africans in French society, which simultaneously tried to promote integration by offering them special assistance in health, education and jobs — while actively stoking up resentment against them.

The result of these mixed messages was an eruption of killing and a rift between the communities that has not healed to this day. Racism is rife in France and attacks on North Africans remain sickeningly commonplace.

They tend to live on blighted housing estates, the successors of the earlier shanty towns. Even today, these estates are regularly subjected to curfews, and paramilitary forces move in to deal with  any disturbances.

French Algerians report they are made to feel unwelcome in the city centre and Paris’s tourist spots.

France seems at last to be coming to terms with the shameful events of October 17, which is an official day of remembrance. But whether it has really learned any lessons from the brutal attacks on the Neuilly Bridge is another matter.

Probably the sadest part of this story is that it is far from a single event and was the backbone of French north African policy over 130 years, a policy that has changed little to this day, when time and time again France is castigated by Amnesty International’s annual reports for the high level of deaths in custody of French citizens of Algerian descent and constant reports of brutality by the forces of the French Government.

One need look no further than the history of Mali, Chad, Niger, CAR and the like for further examples of such exorable colonial behaviour and brutality towards the indiginous peoples and Rwanda was a French colony where the French did such damage that it led to genocide where the French aided the Hutu and became complicit in the genocide.

Consider the manner in which the French fled Viet-Nam at Dien Bien Fu not only abandoning such allies as they had amongst the people leaving all records to incriminate them but using the Legion Etranger to cover their backs as they fled, resulting in abandoning the Legion to torture and death as the city fell.

For all its protestations of civilisation France has a long record of duplicity as displayed by the acquiescence to Nazi Germany of its Vicchy Government and in a nation of some 60 million many are surprised to note that the much vaunted Maquis amounted to a mere 2,000 at best whilst the likes of Francoise Mitterand and his cronies colluded with the Nazis and together with Klaus Barbie deported 1,000s of French jews in an act of ethnic cleansing to the Nazi run slaughter institutes of Auschwitz, Bergen Belsen, Treblinka and the like.

It is hard to consider that any form of uprising of those of Algerian descent in France, even as French citizens, is other than well earned!

I also find the thoughts of Dr. Richard North of complimentary value:

000a Mail-010 Paris.jpg

No one with any just claim to understanding the events of the last few days can be unaware of the uneasy relationship between French society and the estimated four million people of Algerian descent in the country. They are, in the words of Dr Martin Evans, writing in 2011, disproportionately poor and discriminated against; at times their young, caught between two different cultures.

Only a few years later, that is as true now as it was then but, in 2004, we saw written that the Algerian immigrants in France were “poor and ghettoised – and are a standing challenge to France’s traditional image of itself and its cultural identity”.

A year later, we see written this, a narrative about the fate of the descendants of the north Africans who had been drafted in to help with the reconstruction of France after the Second World War. They were housed in what the French call Les cites, and we are told:

The[se] “ghettos” are specially built for excluded and disfranchised migrants from France’s former North African colonies – mostly Arabs and Muslims – and other parts of the world. Clustered on the peripheries of France’s big cities, Les cités proved to be laboratories for dissent and resistance against oppression. The children of the immigrants who built France after World War II are being pushed further outside the French society.

It is important to emphasise that the French youth who are protesting against police violence and the policy of the French political establishment, are French citizens. They were born into first and second generation immigrants communities from France’s former colonies. They are not motivated by religion, and the protest has nothing to do with Islam and Western cliché of “Islamic fundamentalism”. It is a protest against oppression and racism. This is the only way the youth can express their anger and frustration at French political establishment which deny immigrants to be integrated in their diversity. Successive French governments failed to come up with a fair and successful integration policy.

The “second class citizens” have been pushed further out of the centres into France’s larger suburbs of Paris, Nice, and Lyon Toulouse, Marseille, Strasbourg and other big cities where their parents once provided cheap labour for France’s factories. The youth are excluded from the French society, and subjected to brutal and Nazi-like police harassments, encouraged by racist policies. In its annual report in April 2005, Amnesty International have criticised the “impunity” provided to police and police violent treatments of youth from North African origins during the provocative identity checks. In fact, an Arab or an African man has no right to look a policeman in the face during this deliberate and daily racism faced by young people of colour.

Interestingly, the Amnesty International report for 2013 shows how little things have changed.  Two years before that report, though, an unlikely source, the Daily Mail published an article describing how in 1961, during the war with Algeria, French police had slaughtered upwards of 200 protesting Algerians – some thrown into the Seine to drown.

Some demonstrators had been arrested and taken to police headquarters near Notre Dame, where they had been confined in a courtyard and battered to death. Police handing out the beatings first removed the identification numbers from their uniforms. Senior officers watched the brutality, ignoring pleas by shocked officers to halt the killing.

On this, the freedom-loving French press were completely silent, paving the way for an official cover-up, whence in 1968 De Gaulle dismissed the killings as “a matter of secondary importance” and issued an amnesty to all police personnel for crimes committed during the war with Algeria. In 2011, the Mail wrote:

Also covering the same events was the Observer, which concluded that few would argue that the tribal murders committed by Paris police half a century ago are likely to be repeated today. However, it added, “nor would anyone pretend that the discriminatory policies which gave rise to such horrors have disappeared from modern France”.

Four years later, the same author makes a plea for people not to blame the current bloodshed on France’s Moslems. Writer Nabila Ramdani argues:

The three French-Algerian men believed responsible for the 12 deaths in Paris on Wednesday would have been steeped in a recent history of this conflict which, in the 1960s, was exported from the battlefields of Algeria to Paris itself. During one notorious atrocity in 1961, up to 200 Algerians were slaughtered around national monuments, including the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame cathedral. Many were tossed into the Seine from some of the most beautiful bridges in the world and left to drown.

Half a century on, the violence has subsided but there is still a strong sense of resentment among alienated communities living in housing estates on the outskirts of the capital. Many are Muslims of north African origin who complain that discrimination against them extends to every field of life, from housing and employment to the right to religious expression. This is particularly so as politicians of the left and right regularly blame Islam for these social problems, which in fact have nothing to do with spiritual faith.

To add to this narrative we even get Robert Fisk, with plausible arguments which say that “Paris attack brothers’ campaign of terror can be traced back to Algeria in 1954”.

That much and much more is indeed arguable, and plausibly so, but not according to the self-appointed “experts” on the comment thread of my 366 Comments. A significant number will have it that Islam is the primary or even sole motivator for the killing, insisting that alternatives are “not up for debate”.

This is alongside those who rashly and irrationally argue in support of Farage that the killings are a consequence of multiculturalism. Yet, by even the most basic of definitions, multiculturalism is a celebration of diversity, manifest in an official policy where cultures other than the host culture are maintained and supported.

Underpinning multiculturalism, of course, is tolerance of other cultures, and there is nothing whatsoever in the French treatment of the Algerians that can be called tolerant, or in any respect be identified with multiculturalism. Those that argue otherwise are demonstrably wrong, and by reference to easily verifiable facts.

Furthermore, all this is very far from academic, and comprehension is not assisted by ill-informed prattle. As I have argued many times, the greater part of any solution to an ill is correctly to identify the problems. The often bigoted and always blinkered insistence of some on reducing complex problems to a series of formulaic mantras is misguided and damaging.

Not least, as I have argued elsewhere, we are dealing with the effects of tribalism – and the breakdown of tribal disciplines – and the relationship with Islam, which is probably a powerful, if scarcely recognised phenomenon.

Whatever the actual causal factors, they are bound to be many, with complex interactions. Thus, those with the ability to influence the debate should keep their minds open to a range of possibilities. The issues we are dealing with are too important for polemics, political posturing and the blind certainties that we have seen over the past few days.

By that measure, then, I stand by my view that Farage – and those who support him – are both wrong and dangerous in promoting their superficial mantras. We need better than this, and if people such as Farage can’t shape the debate responsibly and with more understanding than they have shown, they are best keeping quiet.

000a Guardian-009 Algiers.jpg

The date of the Guardian piece (illustrated above) is rather significant – it was published in 2012. The theme is rather familiar, a litany of woes of the French-Algerian community of 4 million, and the way they are so very badly treated by the French, “second-class citizens” being a rather optimistic description.

Franco-Algerian history, of course, goes way back, but includes a savage war of independence, where state-sanctioned torture and reprisals were widely used by the French military, in an inglorious episode in its history.

Given then there current way that those of Algerian descent are treated, and by comparison with, say, the number of mass shootings you get in the United States, one could venture a cautious option that it is remarkable that there have not been more such episodes such as the Charlie Hebdo shooting.

In the context, therefore, the very last thing one might be comfortable saying that is that “uncontrolled immigration” was in any way a contributory factor in the shooting, that it was a function of “multi-culturalism” or that there was any aspect of the shooting which could be attributable to a “fifth column living within our own countries … out to destroy our whole civilisation and our way of life”.

On a purely factual level, therefore, Farage is wrong in his comments, and even if he had a point to make, his timing was execrable. Offering a political analysis not a full day after the shooting was poor judgement, and especially as the full facts are very far from being known.

Political rivals, therefore, are quite right to condemn Farage. Once again he has shown poor judgement and a lamentably superficial understanding of complex issues.

What is terrifying, though, is the comments on the likes of the Breitbart site – and even – it would appear – the bulk of the Daily Mail comments, which appear to support the Ukip leader.

We know full well that newspaper web comments do not reflect majority public opinion (or we would probably have a Ukip government in power), but they do demonstrate that there is a very large number of people who cannot think straight, and allow themselves to support Farage’s ill-founded comments.

In the fullness of time, there will be lessons to learn from this shooting, and it is going to take careful thought and evaluation to come up with the right lessons. But political leaders who are prone to jump to the wrong conclusions, on the basis of flawed analysis, and incomplete information, are not to be trusted.

By that measure, Farage, once again, has shown that he is entirely unfit to lead a political party. But some of his followers and supporters are also showing that they are not people whose judgement can be trusted either. They may deserve Farage – but we don’t.

Peter North’s comments on the issue are also unequivocal:

There is a great deal more factually supported opinion on his blog worthy of reading, when you can find the time.

The great danger we in Britain face as a result of what has happened in France as a result of French racism over many years is that in this year, facing a general election, particularly and with the light weight ill informed populism of Nigel Farage and his cult of irresponsible followers that the two British parties of stature and standing may try to exploit the situation to fend off Ukip’s crass challenge.

A challenge that has done great harm to the EUroSceptic and particularly the EUroRealist cause by conflating it with scraping the gutters of politics for the easy & populist voters who as Oswald Mosley, Adolf Hitler and others before and since realised by pandering to racism they would gain traction for as long as it was cloaked in claims of Nationalism; as you will recall Mosley was voted man of the year in 1934 and Hitler in 1938 for the influence and exploitation of democracy as was Nigel Farage in 2014!

The great danger is that the Police will set about Empire building and both the Tories & Labour will seek the unthinking and ill informed votes from the populist pool by clamouring for greater arming of the police!

Before considering arming more police do be minded that in France, with a similar population to that of Britain they failed to save lives having 17 people killed by 3 armed hooligans despite deploying 90,000 armed police of a total of 220,000 French police who are armed.

In Britain we have on the mainland handled many years of active murder by the IRA and subsequently by dishonest individuals exploiting the simple minded failures in their social group in the name but not the spirit of Islam. This we have done with currently just under 5,000 armed police officers and a reticence to deploy our military forces in a civil role in the country.

In any civilised nation where a death penalty for any crime it is clearly a mark of failure accrued by every single lethal weapon deployed. Let us not forget the fact that the British police can not name a single uninvolved life saved by the use of lethal force in the hands of the police yet it is not difficult to construct a list of individuals thus murdered by armed police (with a hat tip to Wiki):

We must do all we can to resist such an irresponsible act of seeking votes by our politicians in their efforts to pander to the unthinking garnered from such a populist clamour for greater powers; clearly greater powers invested in the state are by deffinition a loss of freedoms for the peoples for who that state are but servants!

PATERSON OWEN NW

Owen Paterson is a former Environment Secretary and is MP for Shropshire North.

Two startling facts leaped out of the newspaper headlines last. First, immigration has overtaken the economy as the most important issue facing the country, according to the respected pollsters YouGov. Second, despite predictions to the contrary, especially from the BBC, immigration from Romania and Bulgaria is now running at 50,000 a year.

The YouGov finding is extraordinary. All my adult life, the state of the economy and the closely related matter of unemployment have been the number one concern of the British people. Not so now. Every month since May, immigration has either tied with the economy as the country’s main worry or been in the lead. During September, it outscored the economy by 58 per cent to 48 per cent as the top priority of voters.

But after Labour’s abject 13-year failure to control our borders, during which four million people were allowed to enter the UK – an unprecedented influx – I can’t say I am too surprised. Understandably, given the pressures that this tidal wave of newcomers has imposed on our public services, job opportunities and wage levels, the public is hopping mad about the collective failure of the political class to get a grip on our borders.

An election is only just over four months away. It is a safe bet to assume that immigration will loom large in the political battle to come – and that victory will go to the party that offers the most convincing solution to the question of how to bring order to the chaos of the present arrangements.

Labour and the Liberal Democrats have nothing to offer. Ed Miliband recently tried to toughen his party’s stance. But his efforts provoked derision when they coincided with a leaked internal briefing paper for his MPs and activists telling them to “move the conversation on” if voters had the temerity to mention immigration.

As for the Lib Dems, I treasure the arrogant complacency of Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, airily dismissing the threat of a Romanian and Bulgarian influx as “just a scare story”. The latest numbers prove how wrong he was.

UKIP, with its victories in the European elections and two by-elections last year, has skilfully tapped into public fury over borderless Britain. But I fear that its answer – leave the European Union and introduce an Australian points system to control numbers – is another dead end. Immigration is not a binary issue of control or no control, membership of the EU, or no membership. It’s a complex global problem.

Essentially, as long as there are significant incentives to move, people will cross borders. As long as we are a rich nation, people will continue to come. While Romanian wages are one-eighth of UK wages, it’s worth the cheap air fare.

When controls are imposed, people find a way round them. Even in the US, where millions of “wetbacks” cross the porous Mexican border, nearly half the illegal immigrants are people who entered legitimately as tourists, as students or for business purposes and have overstayed. In the UK, there are over 30 million visitors each year and attempts to pull up the drawbridge, as UKIP would have us do, would simply lead to a massive surge in illegal immigration.

Yet for our economy to grow, we must welcome people with a whole variety of skills, be they fruit pickers or graduate doctors.  This is the conundrum: accepting 260,000 net immigrants in a year is stretching our public services to their limit and is unsustainable, but our open economy needs immigration.

UKIP’s solution is simply to “leave the EU”. I can see many advantages in Britain quitting the EU. But that alone would not crack the immigration problem. Even if we were to leave, it is inconceivable that the UK could negotiate a trade deal with the EU that did not involve some agreement on freedom of movement.

Currently, 13 percent of the UK population are first generation immigrants. Norway and Switzerland, both outside the EU but with such agreements, have immigrant populations of nearly 15 and 23 per cent.  UKIP’s preferred option, the Australian skills-based points system,  has resulted in an immigrant population of 27 per cent. Immigration is driven by “push” and “pull” factors unique to each country. Shaping these is more effective than formal border controls.

David Cameron was right in November to address one of the key “pull” factors by promising to “make welfare reform an absolute requirement in renegotiation”. However, much of the problematic immigration into this country stems not from the EU but from the European Convention of Human Rights. Repeal of the Human Rights Act and adoption of a new Bill of Rights would set the UK free from the ECHR, helping us to address the “push” factors.

We would no longer be forced to allow family members to join migrants; we could remove illegal immigrants as we wished. It is ludicrous that we are unable to deport illegal immigrants from Calais, because our judges say that France is not a “safe” country for asylum seekers!

Some measures, particularly those to do with benefits, are permissible under existing EU law. But many more will require treaty change. The Lisbon Treaty has made this change more complicated; it will be extremely difficult to reach an agreement before 2017. As if this wasn’t enough, the member states (especially Germany) and the Brussels Commission have made it clear that free movement is “not negotiable”.

We can’t force them to give us treaty change without invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. It is the only legally binding mechanism that we can use to enter formal negotiations on a new relationship. It allows two years for negotiations, so there would still be time for a referendum in 2017.

It is critical to remember that the economic single market and the political EU are not one and the same thing. We can participate in the market as members of the European Economic Area without being saddled with the EU as a political project. Those, such as the business chiefs of the CBI, who confuse the memberships of the single market and the EU are making a basic error and misleading the British people.

This is where UKIP is wrong. Desperate to control immigration from the EU, the party has rejected continued membership of the single market within the EEA – which would place our economy at risk. In fact, as a member of the EEA but not the EU, we would not be bound by the European Court of Justice and its rulings on our benefits system. But, crucially, we could introduce “Safeguard Measures”, giving us an “emergency brake” on excessive migration – an option not available to us in the EU. We would get the benefits to business and the economy of free movement, with real power over our borders.

Managing immigration is a question of balance. We cannot afford to bring down the shutters and cut ourselves off from the rest of the world – many of our industries need skilled immigrants to keep our economy growing. Remember, too, that enterprising migrants have started nearly half a million businesses, employing over eight million people. A managed immigration policy should recognise this.

UKIP’s policy of simply “leaving the EU” is nothing but a populist slogan. Implementing an intelligent policy of managed immigration will require guts, determination and attention to detail. The colourful characters running UKIP may have added to the gaiety of the nation during the festive season. But only a resolute Conservative government with a good working majority can begin to address these issues.

COMMENTS:

there are some 103 at the moment but it is astonishing, as one wades through them, just how few seem to have grasped the points Owen Paterson has put forward having obviously done some extensive research.

Since I commented I take the liberty of posting my comment and showing it in context here:

“The YouGov finding is extraordinary. All my adult life, the state of the economy and the closely related matter of unemployment have been the number one concern of the British people.”

What nonsense, for much of the last twenty years crime, NHS, Defence/International relations and immigration have topped the list

Indeed, was always a concern to those outside Westminster – what has changed is the rise of UKIP means it can be a vote decider and so MPs are now more alert to it than before
Agree a prority for most of us for many years past ,but only the influx in the south/souyh east and London has brought it to the attention of the westminster club
Hi,

it is interesting to note just how increasingly wrong pollsters seem to be these days. Just look at how inaccurate they will prove to be in this coming General Election, where Ukip will have a huge destabilising effect yet command an insignificant number of seats, even relative to the economic illiteratti who will follow Alex Salmond’s self interest cult.

Could this be due to the arcane process of telephone interviewing, where it is a preponderance of older voters who have domestic land lines, and where even the unemployed youngsters seem able to afford costly Iphones, games & mobile internet communication and the like.

May I suggest it time for pollsters to either modernise or get their wives grossly over paid jobs in the EU, perhaps emulate the ‘odd’ journalist who has become game keeper turned poacher as an MEP!

Greg_L-W.

For those who truelly wish to understand the issues and complexity of The EU and how we can work to Leave_The_EU may I suggest you CLICK HERE where you can read The FleXcit details.

You may well then find it expedient to read ‘The Great Deception’ which so admirably lays out the history and structure of The EU and can be linked to in the right sidebar of this web site.

May I also commend ‘The European Parliament’ by Richard Corbett, Francis Jacobs and Michael Shackleton which admirably lays out the nuts and bolts of how The EU functions and has grown to become the evil structure that it has.

An understanding of these nuts and bolts helps greatly in comprehending which ones have to be undone to repatriate our democracy. reinstate our borders, restore our sovereignty and restructure our Governance at Westminster to ensure no such great betrayal of our sovereign peoples in these United Kingdoms ever again occurs – to that end may I suggest a carefull study of The Harrogate Agenda as linked immediately below the header of this web site.

Hi,

unlike Richard I am not entirely sure I would start an article regarding Angela Merkel and the EU with the phrase ‘Cutting through the fluff…’
I tend not to see either in that category so perhaps ‘To cut to the chase …’ might prove more apposite to the cautionary and VERY important caveat he provides in this article:

EUReferendum

Richard North, 07/01/2015

000a Merkel-006 treaty.jpg

Cutting through the fluff, we note the report on today’s visit by Angela Merkel, which tells us that the German Chancellor is understood to have indicated to the Prime Minister that she is prepared to back his proposals for strict limits on migrant access to benefits and public services.

British officials, we are further informed, hope the German leader will signal support for new rules to persuade British voters to vote “in” in a referendum on EU membership planned if Mr Cameron remains in Number Ten after May’s general election.

And there lies the germ of a treaty. There is a distinct possibility here that we are seeing the foundations laid for an Article 48 “simplified revision procedure” treaty, albeit the language coded and obscure.

If we are anywhere near to identifying the path chosen by Mr Cameron – and there does not seem to be any other credible alternative – then these are dangerous days for Eurosceptics.

One recalls how easily the media was gulled into believing in Mr Cameron’s treaty “veto”, so much so that even to this day the Prime Minister parades this non-existent victory. It is thus entirely possible that the media will accept claims for a new treaty, and fall in behind calls for remain in the EU, on the basis of successful “reform”.

What is particularly exasperating here is that the likes of the Financial Times, with its pretensions of “high quality global journalism” is misreading the meeting, telling us that Merkel “is expected to remind Mr Cameron that Germany will not back any British demands for a major rewrite of existing EU treaties”.

The paper goes on to acknowledge that Mr Cameron has in recent days said his proposed reforms would require treaty change, but then informs is that Merkel “opposes any British deal that would lead to an unstitching of EU treaties or require ratification by referendums in any member state”.

But, if the FT stopped one moment to think about what it had written, that does not in any way rule out a “simplified revision procedure” treaty, covering specific measures on benefits and public services, relating to migrants. Thus, despite a headline that says Merkel is to “rule out treaty change”, there is everything to play for.

That much is evident also from the exposition in Deutsche Welle, which raises the possibility – if tangentially – of amending Article 45 of the TFEU, noting that Cameron would “require alterations to EU treaties” while being confident that he would be able to “get that done”.

We are also getting similar mood music from The Times. Under the headline, “Merkel backs migrant benefit cuts”, we are told: “Hopes are rising in Downing Street, however, that Mrs Merkel will go further than ever in backing changes to EU treaties beyond those needed to reform the eurozone”.

Mr Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband have backed the idea of scrapping rules that allow EU migrants to claim benefits for their children who still live in their home country. The payouts cost Britain about £30 million each year. Rules on the payment of child benefit abroad are enshrined in EU treaties, meaning that all member states would have to agree to alter them. Germany is considered to hold particular sway.

Nevertheless, one expects the media to play up the personality politics, to the exclusion of any more detailed analysis. They will need little encouragement to stoke up high-level theatricals, invoking a dispute between Merkel and Cameron, and such would serve all the better to pave the way for another of Mr Cameron’s victories.

It would be unforgivable, though, if the eurosceptic community allowed this “play” to be completed without challenge, or without attempts being made to explain how attempts are being made to manipulate public opinion.

Without pre-emptive action, I see us being outflanked, facing the prospect of a referendum on the basis of “successful” renegotiations, which would have us fighting a losing battle. Mr Cameron bringing a treaty back from Brussels would be a formidable opponent, and the sooner we start discounting his ploy, the better.

Hi,
clearly more and more people are seeing through Nigel Farage and his cult followers in Ukip
FARAGE, Nigel 94 ORCHESTRATING A DEFECTION 01
One wag has put the cat amongst the ferretts as they squabble in their sack, minded that Mark Daniels wrote the various self congratulatory books about Nigel for him and we are all the worse off for his untimely demise he seems not to have an imaginitive ghost writter any more and you may find the details of the latest book about him on Amazon more accurate than any before:

Clint in not happy that Amazon will not remove a perfectly innocuous book about the UKIP leader detailing his wit and wisdom

Here is the problem

Here is the problem

It seems the book is completely full of blank pages and some Kippers have been duped

Some readers really liked the book and left five start reviews

You only need to read just a short way further on that page to realise just what an unpleasant, vituperative and humourless group has gathered in Nigel Farage’s cult following.
Just imagine if Ukip held any position of responsibility let alone influence in Government!Seems they are either unable to pay for their web site or just too busy squabbling to get around to it!Just imagine if one of their two bit City failures was given a job in the Treasury they might well forget to pay the money due to The NHS or Pensions or Benefits – Politics isn’t just about showboating down at the pub you know!Clearly Nigel Farage doesn’t know that nor Paul Nuttall his sidekick as the very first policy announcement made for Ukip by Nigel Farage in this election year was that he was going to give up beer during January – well I guess rather than be his normal gurning self slightly befuddled and hiding in a pub before, being so drunk, going back to the flat of some local prostitute, as he did with Lega Howells who sold her body and her reputation to The News of The World!
FARAGE, Nigel 110 PAID CULT FOLLOWERS
Are we to assume little Nigel intends to revert to his favoured tipple and down copious quantities of expensive claret?

When challenged on this point he found himself in the embarrassing position of having to forawear alchohol in any form for January – presumably that will be orange juice, which so easily masks Vodka so as to maintain his body sugar levels!

Ukip WEB SITE 06-Jan-2014 01Ukip’s Web Site Screen Capture 06-Jan-2015

I was amused to be sent this receipt for the purchase of Ukip.org from a third party ;-))

Ukip WEB SITE 06-Jan-2015 02It reminds me of a number of years ago when Ukip were too stupid to protect their own name on the internet and I registered all the available permutations of Ukip web site to stop enemies of the Ukip concept and aim to Leave_The_EU, which Mark Oliver then transferred to Nigel Farage for me – seems they have learned very little in the last 15 years, probably too engrossed with squabbling like ferrets in a sack, stuffing their pockets, womanising and abusing the trust of their supporters for their own gain!

Either that or they have spent just too many hours building their reputations a drunks never far from their booze!

Sad isn’t it that the Ukip potential to lead these United Kingdoms out of The EU has been prostituted to the gain of a small clique of self seeking scoundrels and ne’r do wells!

There is however no truth in the rumour that some Ukip supporters are claiming that the web site was not working due to overcrowding on the internet due to immigrants and that the web site did not crash due to the legalisation of same sex marriage – nor was it due as Gertard Batten may well claim that it was because Muslims did not sign his undertaking not to crash Ukip’s web site!

UPDATE: 09:00hrs. 07-Jan-2015

UKIP website back online after brief outage

The domain name reportedly expired, although UKIP denied it forgot to renew it

UKIP’s website is back up and running after a glitch meant the homepage was forwarding to a domain provider’s hosting page for a number of hours yesterday.

Although the domain registration doesn’t expire until March 2016, according to registration records freely available on the internet, users were invited to purchase ukip.org via GoDaddy when they headed to the website.

However, 123-reg, which registered ukip.org to Nigel Farage’s party confirmed the party didn’t forget to renew it, nor did it expire at all and UKIP technical experts were able to get the site up and running within a few hours.

A 123-reg spokesperson told The Register: “UKIP did not fail to renew its domain name and in fact has a long term registration with 123-reg. This morning we have helped UKIP to restore its website to normal service. As UKIP has stated, there was a technical problem overnight and this is no fault of 123-reg.”

While the opportunity was there, one prankster decided to buy the domain for the advertised price of £200, although shortly after confirming the purchase on social media, Alcopop! Records reported that they did not legitimately own the address, nor was GoDaddy willing to hand over a refund.

The company posted on its Facebook page: “Sorry guys – the internet has let us down. This morning we legitimately purchased the UKIP website for £200 (confirmation here). However, Go Daddy seem to have given it back to those fascist b*stards, and no sign of a refund. Genuinely gutted. We’ll be back Farage….”

Further delving into the domain registration records, it would appear something changed on its servers on Sunday, suggesting someone may have been fiddling with the hosting.

To view the original of this article CLICK HERE

You will note the article above which tried to assist Ukip at this embarrassing time clearly states that there is absolutely no fault on behalf of the supplier – however it is notable that there is no consideration of the fact that the supplier of the hosting may have terminated the web site due to a failure to pay for the funding of the hosting!
This is of course just a bit of frippery on my part following this latest example of poor management by Ukip and its omnipresent utter incompetence when it comes to PR and the failures of the serially incompetent Press Office of Ukip & The EFDD Group (in its various incarnations)  over many years.

Hi,

Ukip has a long track record of cheats, liars and self serving scoundrels forming their leadership team and staff.

Whether it was the corrupt and duplicitous Douglas Denny obfuscating on behalf of his puppet master Nigel Farage, whom he claims to have clear evidence and proof positive of material that would lead to his prosecution; or the style of obscenities and dishonesty of Annabelle Fuller Nigel Farage’s long term intimate or, for that matter, the boerish and dishonest Mick McGough or Nigel’s sewer rat Mark Croucher or the corrupt and underhand Tory reject Christopher Gill or even the dishonest and corrupt extreme racist Malcolm Pearson – corruption is clearly endemic amongst the ranks of Ukip leadership clique and its claque.

We all experienced the self serving lies of Teflon Tony during the 13 unlucky years of Labour misrule and economic illiteracy – which clearly hasn’t changed, just look at the debacle in the Welsh NHS that outstrips any other of the British EU Regions and which is the only one of the EU’s Mickey Mouse Regions that is under Labour control and you wuill realise just how awesomely catastrophic Ed Milliband and Ed Balls would be in Drowning Street propped up by the odious Alex Salmond and even perhaps Clegg’s motley crew, if it was the only way they felt they could enhance their incomes.

Just why would people want to vote for the equally corrupt overtly racist and undeniably anti homosexual and anti jewish Ukip, to judge by comments of their members and their associates chosen by their leadership!
There is no shortage of proof of the corruption within the self seeking ranks of Ukip and yet again a National newspaper has put its name to a clear act of corruption of any concept of democratic selection as a position is sold to the highest bidder!

A brief look through this web site will give dozens of examples many specific examples can be found if you CLICK HERE or HERE

UKIP wants disgraced Tory MP Neil Hamilton to stand in General Election

Getty UKIP supporters Neil and Christine Hamilton

UKIP has hatched a new plot to parachute in disgraced former Tory MP Neil Hamilton to stand for them at the General Election.

He was forced to quit politics 17 years ago after a cash-for-questions probe heard he had taken £25,000 in brown envelopes to lobby Parliament for the then Harrods owner Mohamed al-Fayed.

A leaked top-level report to UKIP’s ruling national executive committee – seen by the Sunday Mirror – recommends he should fight the target marginal seat of Portsmouth South in May.

It is the third potential seat Mr Hamilton has been lined up for. Bids last year to stand in Boston and Skegness, and Basildon were shelved after claims of quarrels over strategy within the party.

He also had to defend himself against allegations of questionable expenses claims involving an overnight stay in a flat owned by his wife Christine.

Portsmouth South is held by former Lib Dem Mike Hancock, who was forced to quit his party and become an independent after a sex scandal.

A UKIP source claims leader Nigel Farage does not want Mr Hamilton as an MP – but the party’s second biggest donor, spread-betting tycoon Stuart Wheeler, believes he is good for their prospects and has threatened to withdraw support if he is not given a seat to fight.

“They have got themselves into a real mess over it,” said the source. “Hamilton is seen by most in the party as yesterday’s man, tainted by sleaze.

“Many see him as a reason not to vote UKIP. But Stuart Wheeler is a close friend and that’s where a large chunk of the party’s money comes from.”

In November, UKIP’s head of candidate selection wrote to senior party figures: “It is my recommendation that the National Executive Committee appoint Neil Hamilton as Candidate for Portsmouth South. His personal connections with the seat and clear standing in the party make him ideal, and a person who will be welcomed.”

Mr Hamilton, who has labelled the claims about his expenses a “dirty tricks campaign”, said: “It is not appropriate for me to comment.”

The report also says UKIP MEP Janice Atkinson should not be re-selected after calling a Thai constituent “a ting tong”.

Would you vote for Hamilton?

  • YES 14%

  • NO   86%

Hi,

I take the liberty of basing this post on a blog written by Richard North which reads as follows:

UK politics: a brighter future?

Richard North, 02/01/2015

“As for Ukip”, says David Cameron, writing for the Daily Telegraph, “all they can deliver is Ed Miliband into Downing Street“. He goes on to say:

A vote for Ukip is a vote to prop up a failing Labour government – a government that would refuse to give people a referendum on Europe and that would take us back to the days of open-door immigration, an out-of-control welfare budget and a something-for-nothing society …

Then up pops an oft-repeated promise: Labour’s Human Rights Act would be scrapped, and thence for emphasis, Mr Cameron again tells us that: “an in-out referendum on Europe [will be] delivered”.

Needless to say, there is no reason to trust that Mr Cameron will keep his promises. But then trust is not an issue. Our best judgement is that, if he again reneged on a promise of a referendum, the Conservative party would rebel, and he would quickly be deposed as a leader.

Furthermore, come the 2020 general election, with no referendum having been delivered, the Conservative Party would be unelectable. Mr Cameron would have wiped out any chance of a further Conservative government for the foreseeable future.

But then, if you want to quibble, is Mr Cameron’s statement any more or less credible than this from Mr Farage?

Ukip is no longer seen as the “protest vote”, but rather as an opportunity to look outside the Westminster bubble for real solutions, devised by real people, with real life experience. We will fight the upcoming elections believing that our potential is still underestimated, and that the balance of power is within our grasp.

If you believe that, frankly, you will believe anything. But, of the two, I’m more prepared to take Mr Cameron at his word – not because I trust him, but because he’s boxed himself into a corner, and has no realistic option other than to deliver, if he again becomes prime minister after this year’s general election.

That notwithstanding, sooner of later, we are going to have a referendum. And the better prepared we are to fight the campaign, the better our chances are of winning it. Thus, whether or not Mr Cameron delivers on his promise, we should still be preparing for a referendum campaign.

And, with even greater emphasis, that’s what we’re going to be doing on this blog.

and even more specifically in response to his comment on his Forum:

All too often, the eurosceptics offer what amount to “lies” (i.e., untruths), which means that we end up trading lie with lie. It would be helpful if we could isolate the truth and then spread it.

  • Hi,

perhaps lie is a little strong, as Enoch Powell made clear in his speech in the HoC, the EU was telling the truth but it’s sales force, in the form of paid hirelings like MEPs, MPs, broadcasters & Civil Servants were all too willing to obfuscate the truth with spin.

Currently we have Cameron promising a referendum IF the Tories are returned with a majority and offering to resign IF he then does not deliver a referendum – an easy out from his promise, based not on lies but on obfuscation.

I note that there seems no clarity of such a promise from any other political leader of consequence and Cameron’s promise seems in isolation in that none of the front runners for his job should he stumble and fall has either endorsed his promise or promised an EU IN/OUT Referendum of any clarity. In fact none of the front runners for the governance of OUR Country would seem to wish to hold a fair, informed and balanced referendum – each feeding the mill with grit rather than grain!

Alternatively we have the spin and obfuscation of Ukip who after 22 years of ‘claiming’ to wish to Leave_The_EU are milking the tax payers for all they are worth through the EU bribe system and delivering nothing – not even aresponsible, honourable, clear EU eXit & survival strategy, in fact no strategy or plan whatsoever after 22 years!

Ukip’s devotion to populism without proper policy is so well a trodden path it is risible. Consider Adolf Hitler, Oswald Moseley, both of whom sought to blame outsiders and to thus sweep the gutters of politics choosing unsavoury allies and ill informed supporters over responsible researched policies of substance and gravitas and they like Nigel Farage were also pronounced man of the year, in 1938 & 1934 respectively.

That The SNP, Plaid and the Greens are trolling the same pool dependent on ignorance for their support and transient achievements casts a sad light on the body politic, where Ukip’s good fortune has been enhanced by gathering in the support of BNP members, even their deposed leader Nick Griffin, and supporters now they have collapsed leaving Ukip as the most clearly racist party left with which to protest. Much as Hitler’s early battle was with the Communist Party in Bavaria, a battle he won by denouncing the Jews, Gypsies and disabled – just as Ukip do regarding Romanians, Bulgarians, Roma and other immigrants!

The difficulty faced by those of us seeking to Leave_The_EU is that it is an immensely complex process and FUD can be all too easily used by those who have incrementally forced upon us the EU scam, with salami slicing of our fundamental human right of self determination and its obscene costs and down side risks.

The EU has woven a complex quilt of regulation, by the use of a massive unelected bureaucracy that includes the Civil Servants of all its vassal states aided by their police, politicians and much of their military whilst the tax payers have been left unrepresented and poorly, led mostly by opportunists unwilling to put in the hard slog of research and fine tuning as they expend their energy and our cash seeking selection and election so as to feed on the gravy train they claim to reject!

Indubitably FleXcit offers a way forward, even perhaps the way forward, but already it extends to some 370 pages, well researched as it is and clearly striving for joined up thinking, will enough people read it. More importantly will enough members of the electorate understand it or will it continue to be run away from by the LibLabUkipCon herd mentality?

The LibLabUkipCon seem not to wish to lie but clearly they have no desire to tell the truth with clarity and integrity or we would have left the outmoded, obfuscating, self serving bureaucrats of the un democratic EU long ago, even assuming we had been duped into its clutches originally, as we unarguably were; then as now based on spin, unbalanced funding, corrupt publicity and FUD – little changes!

We have a long and arduous road ahead to repatriate our democracy and salvage our right to self determination and justice. Without education of the electorate in at least some of the details of FleXcit our aim of EU eXit is likely to fail, as the EUroPhiles have no need to lie merely to obfuscate and employ FUD to rattle the ill informed into the ballot box with a ‘stay in’ vote cast in fear and ignorance.

Ignorance that comes of never having had explained to them the clear benefits of Britain resuming its independent status as a Global trading nation, with a reputation of integrity and justice, though the latter has been much tarnished by what were indubitably lies that emanated from the likes of Edward Heath, Geoffrey Rippon and latterly the indisputable corruption of Blair & Brown’s 13 unlucky years of self enriching misgovernment and economic illiteracy.

Whenever the referendum comes, as it surely will, the hard work starts here and now and must be relentless if we are to have any hope of restoring our democracy in any meaningful terms.

How about starting out with the relatively simple task of explaining how the EU works by promoting Richard North’s excellent book ‘The Great Deception’; followeed by the simple fact that the EU makes very few laws, it merely rewrites the laws of The WTO, Codex, The WHO, The IMF, The UN and the like with the seal of approval and wording of The Enarcs and the imprimatur of the EU.

It will be long, it will be hard and it may well be bloody but we must work for freedom rather than be distracted by the obfuscation of the so called wars to grant freedom to many who as a majority wish to live by other standards be they Islam or the centralised dictator committees of Russia or The EU.

If we are ever again asked if we wish to be governed by a centralised foreign and very alien power and the choice is that or the open sea and restoration of our global trading role and spheres of influence in the Anglosphere and beyond clearly we should, as an island Nation of United Kingdoms choose the open sea with control of our own trade, our own laws and freedoms and our own borders.

Sadly one is forced to ponder whether Nigel farage has merely adopted the role of being yet another Judas Goat!

    Greg_L-W.

Hi,

firstly a Happy New Year to you all and may 2015 bring us all an irrevocable step nearer to our aim to Leave_The_EU. I hope you all had a great holiday period and return to the fray to work towards ensuring an IN/OUT Referendum and the task of ensuring we win the right to Leave_The_EU conclusively by ensuring thwe public are reassured as to the benefits of being a self determining democracy trading as an independent Nation world wide.

To move forward into the fray and arm for the battle ahead to obtain our independence and repatriate our democracy reinstating our borders and justice system with a restrengthened Westminster with the integrity to represent our peoples rather than themselves!

I have almost without exception enjoyed the perspicacity of Suzanne Cameron-Blackie aka Anna Raccoon whose sharp wit and ascorbic pen I have followed for many years.Again and again she deals in areas where I have experience of the scoundrels concerned be they Robert Green, Anne Greig (aka McKay), David the liar and fruit loop Icke, creepy little Brian Gerrish, the odity Tony Bennett and many more – not least of whom is Michael Shrimpton who somewhat embarrassingly had rather overstayed his couple of nights stay in my home when he once again ‘heard voices’ and saw fit to use my phone to relay his maunderings about nuclear bomb threats, using my phone!Read on, as I am sure you will enjoy the cutting wit of Anna Raccoon and her wicked expose of Rannock’s village idiot the Ukip buffoon and sometime deputy leader then leader for Scotland Christopher Monkton (could that be aka Sacha Cohen?), as much as you may derive amusement from Hayley O’Keeffe’s somewhat kinder reportage of the pure humour of Michael Shrimpton’s parody of himself which she so ably covers ‘with a wink and a nod’!

On Ascending to Insanity and Shrimpton Fishing.

Post image for On Ascending to Insanity and Shrimpton Fishing.

by Anna Raccoon on November 26, 2014

I have often pondered why the cliché is ‘descending into madness’ – given the number of people who end up firmly believing that they are the son of the Man upstairs, and spend the rest of their life with arms outstretched and tending their goatee beard, having moved from ‘talking to themselves’ to believing that they are in fact God, or at least JC – without passing ‘Go’. Surely the cliché should be ‘Ascending to Insanity’?

What is the alchemy by which so many people end up convinced by the same fantasy? I have just caught up with a documentary on James Randi – available for another six days on iPlayer, and I cannot recommend it highly enough – utterly enthralling to anyone interested in how and why people not only become consumed by irrational beliefs, but that so many people become consumed by the same beliefs – without ever meeting each other. Randi’s thesis (very roughly!) boils down to a view that people ‘believe what they need to believe, though they think they ‘chose’ what to believe’. Randi describes replicating Uri Geller’s spoon bending trick and revealing it to be part of the Magician’s arsenal of trickery – ‘Geller Believers’ accused him of having psychic powers himself and ‘being in denial’…I was promptly reminded of the time I was accused of having ‘buried’ the ‘traumatic’ occasion on which Savile abused me in a Duncroft dormitory in 1965….it being ‘unbelievable’ to a ‘true believer’ that when I said he simply wasn’t there – that he simply wasn’t there!

Suddenly, our world is full of people who have just realised they were abused in childhood by a celebrity – and there’s not a spoon bender in sight. Vanished, the lot of them. Mind you, there aren’t too many people abducted by aliens around at the moment, either. Each of these ‘beliefs’ have their own lingo – and it is extraordinary how quickly people catch onto the new lexicon. I watched a documentary on Broadmoor too (part two tonight!) and marvelled at how, even incarcerated in there for 25 years, the Thesaurus of abuse had penetrated. Elderly patients now claim to have been ‘groomed’ in childhood, ‘plied’ with alcohol – nobody ever admits to having shoplifted alcohol any longer, or lied to get into a pub underage, as we used to – nope, they now remember they were ‘plied with alcohol’ by sinister older figures – and I wonder how much of this can be accounted for by an instinctive understanding of the lexicon that well meaning counsellors ‘need to believe’.

Before I had time (or rather inclination, let’s be honest here) to put pen to paper – along came Michael Shrimpton QC. What can I say? Wow! Put’s Andrea Davison in the shade.

I first came across Michael when I had the misfortune to be moderating a ‘Madeleine McCann’ forum. Michael managed to pip Mark Williams-Thomas to the Madeleine bandwagon with his seminal INTEL/INFO:

“In my report to the joint of intelligence committee, in the case of Madeleine McCann, She was going to be abused by a senior member of the European commission in Brussels whose name is known to British Intelligence, I can’t identify him in Spyhunter but I know who it is, there is no way that Madeleine could ever be returned alive to her family because the danger would be even at her tender age of 4 she would recognise him and know who was abusing her. So the Germans had to murder her and indeed they eventually did sadly in December 2008″

Strange how the same people pop up time and time again in different conspiracy theories. I ran into quite a few old ‘acquaintances’ from the height of Madeleine hysteria, the Hollie Grieg hoax, Common Purpose, et al as I researched Michael’s ‘ascendancy’ to hallowed high priest of the child abuse clique and honoured guest and Guru for David Icke.  These people must watch ‘Google trends’ like a hawk, and at the first sign of a word trending, formulate a theory full of buzz words like ‘cell’, ‘disinformation’, ‘intelligence operative’, and of course, the ever popular ‘plied’ and ‘grooming’. I’m amazed that none of them latched onto the Oscar Pistorius story, he could have been groomed by South African Intelligence, jailed so that he could be ‘terminated with prejudice’ and never reveal the presence of nuclear weapons removed from the Kursk when it sank, and, and, and….

Too late, Mark Williams-Thomas had already latched onto the Pistorius family…you have to be quick in this game.

Michael had been at full pelt while the media were interested in the London Olympics: he phoned a secretary at the Aylesbury Conservative Association – as you do when you are a self proclaimed ‘intelligence expert on national security’ – and patiently explained to her that German intelligence, which is ‘now in control of Al Qaeda’ was quietly steaming up the Thames in a submarine loaded with nuclear weapons removed from the Kursk, etc, etc,

‘The information was extraordinary and dramatic, in essence Mr Shrimpton announced that a nuclear weapon stolen from the sunken Russian submarine the Kursk a number of years ago, that such a nuclear weapon had been smuggled into the UK and was being stored in a London hospital in preparation to be used during the Olympic games.

He followed this up with calls to the Defence Secretary Philip Hammond to say that this ‘ere nuclear warhead had been stashed in an east London hospital…

His defence case statement filing is a joy to read…if you are behind in your study of current buzz words, do catch up – he has managed to work every single current conspiracy theory in there…but yesterday, our ‘corrupt judiciary’ (every conspiracy theorist knows that our judiciary is corrupt -and, er, Michael should know, ‘cos he used to be a judge…) sent him off for psychiatric evaluation before passing sentence on a charge of ‘communicating false information’. Will he end up in Broadmoor? He will certainly liven up that august establishment, and join forces with the ‘groomed’ and plied’ inhabitants of child abuse fantasy land – oh, did I mention that Michael is already on the sex offenders register? [see the article below this article re Michael Shrimpton’s conviction for child porn – appeal!Framed by the Secret Service, see.

No surprise to find that he was at university with Meirion Jones, Child Abuse Exposer Extraordinaire….

Indeed – Meirion was Editor of the University Paper, and Michael was President of the Union back in 1980… The same people pop up time and time again….

See, I was planning to write a piece yesterday about the latest Labour initiative about ‘Tory toffs’ and top public schools, and how Labour were going to remove their charitable tax relief if they didn’t start lending their best teachers to state school, and Harrods didn’t send their highly paid staff to stand behind the counter in Poundland, ‘cos it was all so unfair – if you went to a top school like Colet Court or St Paul’s School you ended up as Chancellor of the Exchequer or leader of the Liberal Party automatically and this was just an unfair advantage in life – only I couldn’t, because it just isn’t true.

You can go to Colet Court or St Paul’s School – and end up as Editor of the University Paper, or in the left luggage cupboard at Panorama, a left wing firebrand, part of the Labour fringe determined to expose those Tory toffs with all the advantages in life – just like Meirion Jones – who went to Colet Court and St. Paul’s and didn’t become Chancellor of the Exchequer.

But then he did get to meet Mark Williams-Thomas, who is busy ‘passing information to Operation Whateverthelatestnameis’ on the child abuse that took place at Colet Court and St Pauls’….

Stop! Stop! For pity’s sake Stop!

My head is reeling – how many of these people know each other?

Coming soon – Williams-Thomas reports on D-notice issued in respect of Meirion’s latest oeuvre on German submarine seen heading up the Thames in the direction of Duncroft piloted by Andrea Davison, carrying Shrimpton to safety with ISIS. Emily Thornberry resigns after accidentally tweeting picture of Pistorius carrying luggage holding Clegg bound and gagged and padlocked….

It’s got to the point where you can’t write anything without one of these nutters popping up in the story.

Edited by Anna to add: It seems that Michael is not a QC – though was a judge….I have now established that by following several more links including one where he was hired by the venerable Lord Christopher Monckton – who is the only Lord that the House of Lord’s have ever had to post on their web site a public note asking him to desist from describing himself as ‘sitting in the House of Lords’  after he appeared on an Australian TV show denying he was Sacha Cohen…

Well, actually the ‘Not sitting in the House of’ Lords Monckton was interviewed by Adam Spencer, following his hiring of the ‘Not QC’ Shrimpton about the ‘Not Nationalised’ Rannoch to Glasgow railway line which is now the only railway line in the world required to run – by law…

Are you sure you’ve got all that? Yes? I can climb out of this rabbit hole now? Personally, I’d sentence the whole lot of them to run the ‘Not Child Abuse Tribunal’.

Good. Now enjoy Lord Monckton attempting to prove that he’s not Sacha Cohen either…..

Ex-judge: ‘Secret service framed me over child porn’

Michael Shrimpton on the USS Enterprise in 2006

Michael Shrimpton on the USS Enterprise in 2006

A former judge claims secret service agents planted child porn on his computer memory stick in a plot to discredit him.

Michael Shrimpton, an outspoken critic of foreign affairs who advised Chilean dictator General Pinochet, said officers switched the memory stick, which also contained a book he was writing on German intelligence practices,

An appeal against his conviction heard his home in Jusons Glebe, Wendover was searched in April 2012 after he contacted the Ministry of Defence to warn them about an attempt he had uncovered to detonate a dirty nuclear bomb at the Olympics.

However, police instead arrested Mr Shrimpton and found a number of memory sticks which were bagged and labelled by officers.

Only one, which was found in a green glasses case next to Mr Shrimpton’s bed, was found to have contained deleted files, 40 of which were found by police specialists to be indecent images of young boys.

Mr Shrimpton, a barrister and former immigration judge who once advised Pinochet during his fight against extradition from Britain in the nineties, was sentenced to a three year supervision order, a five year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and was told to sign the Sex Offenders Register for possessing indecent images.

Representing himself, the 57 year old told the hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court sitting at Amersham that he believes intelligence services engaged a tactical interception system called G12, to monitor the search on his home and tamper with the items recovered.

He also claimed that he can prove his credentials as an intelligence specialist using a certificate gained when he was flown out to the USS Enterprise Navy aircraft carrier in 2006, and said that address books at his home contained direct numbers for world intelligence agencies.

Prosecuting, Richard Barton told Judge Karen Holt that he did not dispute that Mr Shrimpton had been aboard the USS Enterprise, but did not accept that it was as an intelligence specialist.

He also accepted that Mr Shrimpton’s own laptop computer was not the one used to download the indecent images onto the memory stick.

In court Mr Shrimpton said that he believed police did not have authority to take the laptop or memory stick, because his home is also used as his chambers for law work and could have contained legally sensitive information.

Speaking to the Bucks Herald outside court Mr Shrimpton said that he was ‘not worried’ about the case, and dismissed it as an effort to discredit him for being outspoken about key political issues as an intelligence specialist.

He said: “With every respect to the CPS and TVP this prosecution, based on an allegation of possession of a memory stick which has neither my fingerprints nor DNA on it, is a farce.

“TVP also admit my fingerprints are not on the laptop they have, which, absurdly, they claim is the one they unlawfully seized from my new home in April 2012.

“I wrote my new book Spyhunter on the original laptop. Spyhunter is a 330,000 word intelligence text, the writing of which involved at least a million keystrokes, i.e. the prosecution are alleging that a laptop which I touched at least a million times is mine even though there is not single fingerprint of mine on it, nor any of my DNA.”

The former chairman of Watermead Parish Council has been outspoken on issues including the search for Madeleine McCann, the 911 attacks, the war in Iraq, and international government involvement in the sinking of the Titanic.

Most recently he spoke out claiming that Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 was shot down by a Chinese missile.

The case continues
