This smacks more of fulfilling Farage’s personal ambitions than UKIP’s interests or even less the interests of Britain!!

Hi,
yet another damaging article for Farage & his party and as I have warned, in an effort to clean-up UKIP and try to make it fit for purpose over several years, ‘The higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rs …’
One wonders how it will play in reality that Farage admitted his stupidity in failing to set his password on his mobile and believing that mobile phones are secure, against all evidence to obtain money from Rupert Murdoch’s media empire by way of personal competition for the alleged hacking of his mobile because of his position in UKIP and thus the EU on the phone funded by the tax payer!
I have a strange feeling that someone as competent as Murdoch would not have need to boast of dinner with an also ran politician, so has this article shown that Farage and his claque are not to be trusted – being willing to leak confidential meetings in the strange belief it might enhance his credibility!

Farage suggests Conservative pact at secret dinner with Murdoch

Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party, held a private dinner with Rupert Murdoch earlier this week in which he suggested he would form an electoral pact with the Conservatives if the Prime Minister stepped down.

The media tycoon invited Mr Farage to a dinner at his central London flat on Tuesday evening in the wake of Ukip’s strong performance at the Eastleigh by-election.

It was the pair’s first meeting and underlines the growing political influence of the fringe party. The Ukip leader is understood to have told Mr Murdoch that he hopes to win half of the seats in next year’s European election.

He said he will then set out plans to join forces with the Conservatives to fight Labour in the 2015 general election, but only if David Cameron agrees to step down as the party leader, well-placed sources said.

Mr Murdoch is said to be supportive of Mr Farage’s views towards Europe and his backing for new grammar schools, but more sceptical about Ukip’s stance on immigration. The emergence of the secret meeting is likely to add to the growing pressure on the Prime Minister amid speculation that Cabinet ministers are positioning themselves for future leadership bids.

Theresa May, the Home Secretary, has recently emerged as a potential Tory leader after defying Cabinet calls for her to relax Britain’s immigration rules.

Mr Cameron has sought to dismiss Ukip as a party of “fruitcakes” and “closet racists” but several Conservative MPs believe it should be taken seriously and a deal should be done with Mr Farage. The Ukip leader is thought to be prepared to do a deal with virtually any other leader of the Conservatives except Mr Cameron, whom he does not trust.

Last week, Ukip beat the Conservatives into third place in the Eastleigh by-election which appears to have led to a series of announcements from the Government on immigration as it seeks to address the growing electoral threat.

Mr Murdoch is thought to share Mr Farage’s disdain for the Prime Minister and is not thought to have met Mr Cameron since the phone hacking scandal at the News of the World erupted in 2011. However, the chairman of News Corporation has maintained cordial relationships with several senior Conservative figures, including Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, and Michael Gove, the Education Secretary.

Mr Murdoch is also understood to have hosted a private dinner attended by Owen Paterson, a Right-wing Eurosceptic member of the Cabinet, earlier this week.

Before the last election, Mr Cameron and other senior Conservatives made intensive efforts to secure the support of Mr Murdoch’s British newspapers, particularly The Sun.

This article in conjunction with the expected front page article in tomorrow’s Guardian and its follow up can hardly be seen as helpful to either UKIP or these United Kingdoms and this would seem to indicate Farage’s efforts to remove ANY personal challenge to his supremacy even beyond his party!
It is well discussed and published on this blog that Farage has made extensive overtures to the Tory Party for his personal gain – repeatedly thwarted by the more realistic and secure elements of the Conservative Party!

Hi,
it is interesting to note the timing of this article for release, supposedly on the front page of a National newspaper on International Women’s Day‘ bearing out the extreme anti women attitudes of Farage’s party as published by one of his two elected female MEPs and proven in Court by the other!
This  seems to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to medi interest and from what I am hearing few journalists are finding any merit in the methods, unprofessionalism and lack of probity or transparency of UKIP’s behaviour.
Clearly UKIP lacks moral compass or the simplest of understanding of ethical behaviour as this and many other articles have shown just as have the numerous court verdicts and opinions stated against UKIP and its leaders!

The support given to racism, anti Judaism, anti homosexual, xenophobic and hate filled politics is undeniable and as one youngster pointed out from the audience of today’s BBC ‘Question Time’ UKIP is seen as playing on the fears of the vulnerable – leaving UKIP’s spokesman Diane James visibly flustered and red faced, though to be fair she came across as far more plausible and talented as both a spokesman and leader than any other spokesman put forward to date!

On past track record her days are numbered as with others who have outshone Farage and his personal income – Just think where UKIP might be now and just howmany seats it may well already have held if Farage had not fallen out with and set out to destroy one third of his elected MEPs and numerous elected NEC members!

Ukip leader Nigel Farage accused of making threats in bid to win funding

Two of the Eurosceptic party’s former MEPs claim they were put under pressure to break European Union rules

Nigel Farage has been accused of putting pressure on two MEPs to break European rules as he sought to gain tens of thousands of pounds in taxpayers’ money for the UK Independence party.

Nikki Sinclaire, MEP for the West Midlands, told the Guardian the Ukip leader told her the party would not be able to gain access to extra funds meant for a new political grouping without her support.

If she failed to support the group, Farage said he would destroy her political reputation, she alleges. Sinclaire left Ukip in 2010 after clashing with the leadership.

A second MEP claims she was asked by Farage to secure an assistant for his 2010 general election campaign using money from Brussels, in breach of strict EU regulations. Marta Andreasen, who also left Ukip – joining the Conservatives last month – says Farage told her women of childbearing age should not work because they are “a burden to their companies”.

Friends of Farage said Sinclaire had been a “thorn in his side” for many years and had an axe to grind. A Ukip spokesman told the Guardian: “We do not respond to vexatious allegations of this kind from our political opponents.”

Andreasen and Farage have clashed publicly before – after she quit Ukip, the party leader said: “Having left the OECD, the European commission and Ukip in unpleasant circumstances, the Conservative party deserve what is coming to them. The woman is impossible.”

Farage and his party argue that the EU is a waste of money and call for Britain’s withdrawal. Over the last 10 years, Ukip has raised £6.2m, according to the Electoral Commission, with hundreds of thousands of pounds coming from its MEPs, whose salaries and expenses are met by European taxpayers.

Ukip ran the Lib Dems a close second last week in the Eastleigh byelection. All three main parties are now wrestling with how to respond to the rise of the Eurosceptic party, which is to field about 2,000 candidates in the May council elections.

Both accusers are the only female MEPs ever elected by Ukip and both left the party, claiming there is a sexist attitude at the top of the organisation.

Sinclaire, a close associate of Farage for 14 years, said she was “intimidated and bullied” by him as he sought to establish the European Freedom and Democracy group in the European parliament.

In July 2009, he had secured 29 MEPs from a number of countries to support the establishment of the group. Sinclaire alleges that he told her he needed a 30th MEP to ensure that he secured additional funds. When she replied that she was unsure because of homophobic and antisemitic comments by Italian politicians who were part of the grouping, he responded by threatening her, she said.

“He said to me that unless I signed up to this group by 10am the following morning then it would cost the party half a million pounds and it would be all my fault,” she said. “If I didn’t sign up, he said he would make sure that everyone knew it was my fault and damage my standing in the party.”

“There is no doubt in my mind that he was seeking these funds for the political party, not for the new group,” she said. “His main objective was to get the party to gain access to more money, and he was prepared to bully me to get it.”

EU sources said if a grouping increased the number of MEPs from 29 to 30, its funding would be increased by about €50,000. EU rules state money for groupings should not be used for party political purposes, but Sinclaire said the funds were supposed to be sent instead to Ukip and filtered through to London. Sinclaire eventually joined the group, but regretted doing so, she said. She left it in 2010 and is now an independent MEP.

Andreasen is an MEP for South East England and a former Ukip treasurer who defected to the Conservative party last month. She said Farage instructed her to recruit an assistant on the party’s publicly funded Brussels payroll, despite rules that MEPs’ assistants must work for at least part of their time on European parliament business.

“I had a specific situation where I was asked to recruit someone for the southeast region [where she and Farage are MEPs],” she said. “I realised he was only going to work on the general election in 2010 with Nigel Farage, who was standing in Buckingham.

“He [Farage] told me to draw up the contract for him and he would give me a staff member from the group in Brussels. He wanted me to recruit someone who would work in an office in the northern part of the south-east constituency, close to Buckingham.”

Andreasen said the contract would have been for an assistant earning around £40,000 a year pro-rata and they got as far as identifying the assistant Farage wanted, but she realised Farage was asking her to use an MEP’s allowance solely for his UK political campaigning. She said she decided it would have breached parliamentary regulations and declined.

EU rules state: “The provided allowances are only eligible when spent on activities and objects which are directly linked to the office of a member of the European parliament.”

A Ukip MEP has been found to have misused taxpayer-funded allowances following a crackdown by Olaf, Europe‘s anti-fraud watchdog. Derek Clark, an MEP for the East Midlands, had successfully applied for money from the EU to pay for two assistants in 2004 and 2005. But instead of working for Clark, the inquiry found they worked almost exclusively for Ukip from Britain.

Clark, who has given more than £190,000 to the party in the past 10 years, said last year that he began paying political workers with EU money only after being asked to do so by an adviser to the party, whom he refused to name.

Andreasen said Farage and others were “very dismissive and disrespectful” when discussing legislation that affects women.

“The general attitude was that we would never support anything that was in favour of women. He told me that his attitude was that women who are at the age of being able to give birth to children should not be employed because they are a burden to their companies. It is a very extreme position.

“He dismisses you as if you were not a proper interlocuter. He does not discuss with you, because you are a lower-level human being. I could not respond or be angry about each thing that would happen,” she said.

Sinclaire said Meanwhile Rupert Murdoch said that he had invited Farage to his London flat for dinner. The News International chairman told his followers on Twitter that Farage was “reflecting opinion” at the dinner. “Few days in UK, Italy. Politics both places very fluid, economies going nowhere. New leaders emerging on distant horizon,” he tweeted. “Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, few excellent, frustrated ministers. Farage reflecting opinion. Florence mayor Renzi brilliant young Italian.”

she had faced many years of sexism from the party. Ukip used to hold national executive meetings in men-only gentlemen’s clubs in central London such as the Caledonian Club. “I was allowed to attend the actual meeting but could not join the rest of the NEC in the bar, where the eventual decisions were actually made,” she added.

This being the online article I am advised that it will be on the front page of the newspaper – The first of such articles as this seems to be only a small amount of the material which I know to have been gathered by this paper so far – the more damaging material would seem to be yet to come!

As I have repeatedly warned for many years supporters of UKIP should have done all they could to clean up UKIP and establish ethical behaviour and competent leadership with accountability, transparency and probity championing democracy by example or it would eventually fail as ‘the higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rs …’

The Higher Up The Tree UKIP Leadership Climb …!
IF UKIP refuses to ‘clean-up’ its act it has no future and no place in British politics, whaterver its cheap and dishonest populism may garner!

.
Hi,
as I have repeatedly said and published for several years as soon as UKIP shows any signs of any kind of significance they would be exposed for what they really are.Increasingly UKIP are being exposed as political lightweights and extremist of no ethical substance. A cult rather than a party controlled, managed and manipulated by one man, whose finger prints will never be found on any concrete evidence of corruption, dishonesty or extremism but with a claque of followers willing to be used and manipulated as his puppets to act for him to keep him on the gravy train!The amounts of money that have appeared to go ‘walk about’ are staggering the odd £1/4Million here and a further £1/4Million there and it soon adds up to £Millions – as Nigel Farage notoriously boasted to the ex Labour EU minister later shown to have defrauded the public purse himself, Farage boasted at a Press lunch that he had received around £2Million in expenses over and above his actual expenses in the EU.

That of course was no admission of involvement in the apparent £Millions that have seemingly gone missing fr4om EU funding and UKIP direct funds including via call centers.

Perhaps the information in the report, if a little hysterical somewhat untrustworthy and clearly pedantic, that follows the press article below will give the measure of the outrage some members feel at the corruption of UKIP by its leader4ship.However do consider the source, which was a thwarted individual who had great ambitions through UKIP and may well be embittered by his failure as a manipulator, in political terms, when measured against the likes of Nigel Farage!First consider the press report below which I can attest has involved a considerable amount of research so far and is ongoing not only by this paper but by other press journalists and in other media.

Similarly we know that UKIP and many of its remaining senior members are under investigation by OLAF and by areas of the British Police.Again I reiterate the belief that UKIP is at greatest danger of destruction by the exposure of its own corruption should it ever be considered of any real significance – hence the current interest follow its apparent success at Eastleigh, despite the fact that their performance was a mere 14% of the electorate’s vote shadowing the failure of politicians in gene4ral to be considered of much significance in Britain now we are so clearly subject of direct rule by The EU.You may feel the claim we are directly ruled by The EU is untrue or at best an exageration yet this very day the EU voted 26 to 1 against the direct financial interests of these United Kingdoms.

This is not a one off! You will of course be aware that on the pretext that British meat was infected with Foot and Mouth the EU market was largely closed to us yet imports continued from many countries where the disease was endemic and indeed it will be remembered that in France the disease was nicknamed ‘JCB disease’ as farmers killed their own cattle with symptoms and buried them whilst immediately sending any other cattle to slaughter!

Furtjher be minded that no aspirant politician in Britain has set out for election without stating that the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) of The EC, EEC, Common Market, EU, call it what you will, was unfair, hugely costly and must be changed yet in 40 years no British Government nor minister had managed to change a single detail nor a phrase or comma!

Why one may ask would one wish to be a member of an organisation that not only costs some £50Million a day but clearly acted against one’s National intertests and it is a valid question that increasingly politicians will not answer with integrity or honesty and the electorate are now by a majority seeking to Leave-The-EU yet with 60%+ of Conservative voters wanting a fair and honest Referendum, which David Cameron has now for the second time claimed he will hold to appease his members yet UKIP have so lost sight of their ‘Raison d’être‘ that they can only garner 14% of the electorate in their best ever domestic by election!Consider my oft stated truth, when thinking of UKIP and its leadership, ‘The higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rs’, increasingly you will note the media pointing this out, example after example!

Special Report: What voters should know about Ukip

Is there more to the party than an obsession with immigration and getting Britain out of the European Union?

Sunday 03 March 2013

Suddenly, the UK Independence Party is the wild card of British politics. It left the Conservative Party bruised and traumatised by beating it in the Eastleigh by-election. It is tipped to win a large share of the vote in next year’s European elections, may well cost David Cameron’s party victory at the next general election, and is the force whose electoral magnetism many say will pull the Tories ever rightward. It is also the party – its programme and personalities – that has so far escaped scrutiny. Until now.

If Ukip had a name that truly reflected its priorities, it might be called the UK Immigrationphobe Party. Ostensibly the anti-EU party, an obsession with immigration and exit from Europe as a means to close Britain’s doors is its prevailing motive. The word immigration runs through its policy statements like red lettering in seaside rock, and its proposed five-year ban on entries to the UK is the message it rams home on every doorstep.

That is far from all. It is deeply sceptical of global warming, wants to abolish inheritance tax, employers’ National Insurance contributions, aims to partially reverse the recent hunting and smoking bans, and would increase defence spending by some 40 per cent. It is, in thought if not yet in personnel, the extreme right-wing of the Conservative Party in exile; a party run in the main by self-made businessmen with an agenda to match. And it has a record of defections, internecine squabbles and acrimony, plus scandals that have led two of its former MEPs to jail.

Founded in 1991 as the Anti-Federalist League by Dr Alan Sked of the London School of Economics (it became Ukip two years later), it has had, in the past 20 years, no fewer than eight leaders. And the upper reaches of its 22,000 members are fed – and depleted – at regular intervals by defectors coming in and going out, among them its founder. Two of the people elected as Ukip MEPs have since defected to the Conservative Party, and Nikki Sinclaire, elected a Ukip MEP in 2009, was expelled from Ukip for refusing to be part of the right-wing Europe of Freedom and Democracy grouping in the European Parliament.

On the other side of the account, two of its three peers sitting in the Lords were defections from the Conservative Party; its one Member of the Legislative Assembly in Northern Ireland is David McNarry, who was expelled from the Ulster Unionists; and the only person ever to represent the party in the Commons was Robert Spink, who defected from the Conservatives in 2008.

All these comings and goings mean its headquarters must at times resemble a tourist hotel at the height of the season. The party is, in fact, run out of an office on a business park in Newton Abbot, Devon. Its latest available accounts, for 2011, reveal it has 12 employees, made up of four party officers and eight administrative staff – four fewer than in the previous year. The Ukip leadership has managed to turn around an £18,000 deficit and posted a profit of almost £100,000.

Its MEPs have been criticised for a less-than-stellar attendance record at the European Parliament. The latest data from Votewatch.eu says that Nigel Farage’s attendance in plenary has been 141 days out of 196, placing him 708 out of 754 MEPs, and his deputy Paul Nuttall managed 123 days out of 195, ranking him 742nd. More embarrassing for the party was the jailing of two of its former MEPs. In 2007, Ashley Mote, who represented South-east England, was jailed on 21 counts of benefit fraud, totalling £65,000. In 2009, Tom Wise, former MEP for East of England, was jailed for two years after falsely claiming thousands in expenses.

Mr Farage has carved out a niche for himself as a political maverick who, with a nice line in good humour, plays well on Question Time. Insiders, however, say he is somewhat shy when it comes to detail. One former Ukip member said the party had attempted to put together a co-ordinated policy platform before the last election with 18 separate policy groups charged with contributing to the Ukip manifesto. But he added: “The whole thing was eventually binned. The Ukip leadership doesn’t seem to be interested in details; it’s a very successful single-issue pressure group. Nigel was very uncomfortable with a manifesto which stated that ‘A Ukip government would do this or that’.”

Marta Andreasen, the former Ukip MEP who joined the Conservatives during the Eastleigh by-election campaign, said the party was, in effect, a pressure group. “Ukip says it has policies on things other than Europe, but none of them have been properly costed. It is very easy to use immigration as a threat to the population of this country, because people are losing their jobs and the welfare state is being reduced. I agree that there should be proper controls on immigration, but Ukip’s position on this – warning that millions of Bulgarians and Romanians would come to this country – was one of the things that contributed to my leaving the party. We were coming too close to the BNP. We were on the margins of the racists.”

To the accusations that his party is covertly racist, Mr Farage highlights the fact that the Ukip candidate in the Croydon North by-election was the Jamaican-born former boxer Winston McKenzie. However, Mr McKenzie provoked protests when he claimed that allowing gay couples to adopt was “unhealthy”.

Ukip’s deputy leader, Paul Nuttall, uses his blog to vent his spleen against political correctness. In one post, he supported the Bristol hoteliers who faced court action after refusing to let a gay couple sleep in the same bed, and the football pundits Andy Gray and Richard Keys, sacked by Sky over their “sexist” remarks about a female referee’s assistant. He wrote: “Firstly, Christian hoteliers Peter and Rosemary Bull lost a court case in Bristol, which was brought by two homosexual men who took exception because the couple refused to allow them to sleep in the same bed. What a complete joke. Aren’t people allowed to live by their religious beliefs in the country any more? … Gray was partaking in something we call ‘banter’ in football circles … It’s not as if he said it live on air, but, then again, so what if he had?”

A Ukip spokesman denied the party was obsessed with migration and insisted that it had a policy platform which “reflected all the real concerns of the British people”. He added: “We have policies on the economy, public services, Europe … everything. During the Eastleigh campaign, we expected to talk a lot about Europe, but when we knocked on doors people wanted to ask about immigration. Other people have analysed the election since and said immigration was the main concern of 55 per cent of the people who voted, so we were very much in touch with the people of that area. Ukip, of course, repudiates all types of racism and sectarianism. BNP former members are barred from joining Ukip.”

Ukip policies

Lower taxes

“Abolish the tax on work – employers’ National Insurance [NI].” This would lose around £50bn a year in revenue, at a stroke, reversing all progress in cutting the deficit since 2010.

“Take 4.5 million of low incomes out of tax with a simple, flat rate income tax … Merge 20 per cent basic income tax with 11 per cent NI to create a 31 per cent flat tax on all earned incomes over £11,500.” This would create another vast hole in public finances, and mean tax cuts for all higher-rate taxpayers.

“Ukip have a long-standing policy to abolish inheritance tax.” This would cost about £3bn a year.

“Global warming is not proven – wind power is futile. Scrap all green taxes, wind-turbine subsidies, adopt nuclear power to free us from dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil and gas.”

“Cut taxes on small businesses.” Unspecified.

Lower public spending

“Public spending is increasing and the coalition’s cuts do not scratch the surface of Labour’s deficit. We must cut down government if we are to return to a sound economy.”

Quangos: “Bring them under Parliament’s control and cut the cost substantially”. No definition of “substantial”.

“Make real and rigorous cuts in foreign aid.” The aid budget is about £10bn a year.

“By leaving the EU we save over £45m a day plus £60bn a year due to EU trade barriers, business regulation, waste, fraud.” £60bn a year is equivalent to the annual spending of the entire Education Department.

Higher public spending

“Spend an extra 40 per cent on defence annually.” A cost of £19bn pa.

“Double prison places to enforce zero tolerance on crime.” Cost about £4bn pa.

“Roll all state pensions and benefits into a simple, substantial citizen’s pension.” Uncosted.

Restore student grants, but abandon target of 50 per cent of young people going to university. Uncosted.

A better yesterday

“Only by leaving the EU can we regain control of our borders.”

“Life must mean life.”

“Our traditional values have been undermined. Children are taught to be ashamed of our past. Multiculturalism has split our society. Political correctness is stifling free speech.”

“Support grammar schools.”

“End the ban on smoking in allocated rooms in public houses, clubs and hotels.”

“Hold county-wide referenda on the hunting ban.”

As promised, in the preamble to the article above you may find this published article from a UKIP public forum that follows and ask yourself if it was only 25% accurate surely this would so far see more than 2 UKIP MEPs sentenced to prison!

[QUOTE=Tiquipaya;1569073]

The 2005 Parliamentary Election for the constituency of Louth and Horncastle where Chris Pain represented UKIP, received two cheques to the value of £500 each, the said UKIP branch were only entitled to one cheque of £500 from the East Midlands Committee A second cheque was issued at the request of Chris Pain who was not an elected member of the UKIP East Midlands Committee at the time,claiming the first cheque had not been received.

As a result of this it was assumed the cheque had been lost in the post, a replacement cheque was issued. Our long serving treasurer came to the next meeting and reported that the first cheque had been presented for payment at the bank within days of being issued. The second cheque posted directly to Chris was also presented for payment despite requests from our treasurer and the RO for the cheque to be returned. The £500 was never returned despite repeated requests,.

Mr Pain an NEC member supported and recommended by the ‘Junius’ team has indicated that thr Regional Organiser ( Press Secretary, or whatever legal designation now satisfies O.L.A.F. ) Mr Donald Ransome, is to return from a holiday on Thursday and produce a report on matters. Excellant.

Cyprus is loverly at this time of year I am told, but this report may be less than sunny.He must indeed recall those words from Exodus, not to bare false witness.

A copy of this report must then be forwarded to Detective Inspector Postins of Birmingham, West Midlands Police. Failure to do just that may raise more than eyebrows, as we saw in Nottingham with a police raid, arrest and heavy questioning. More of that later though.

Mr Ransome needs to ascertain from Mr Pain, who; exactly are the ‘Junius’ team. ?

Does Mr Pain control ‘Junius’ or vica versa ?

Has Mr Pain, over the years transgressed NEC election rules by having a world wide web site promote his cause ?

How have other candidates coped with this matter, were they given similar and equal treatment ?

Has any form of favouritism occurred here with Mr Pain having internet endorsements ?

Mr Pain denegrates people including in writing, perhaps using a computer system. Some of it came to the fore only last week. There is, sadly; more.

Given Mr Pain’s denegration of others, that may have caused much upset ( Mr Clark I am told has been much hurt by ‘Junius’ cartoons of him that appear to match descriptions of him written by Mr Pain ) , has Mr Pain’s computer been criminally interferred with in order to see just what exactly is going on ( as has mine, and others too) albeit for entirely different reasons in my case including perhaps attempting to pervert the course of justice and witness intimidation ) .

Has his computer been hacked or entered in any way. I can with pleasure assist Mr Pain with this matter, and partly this is why he needs to take his computer to West Midlands Police and the live police enquiry into matters UKIP various and any intellegence that he or ‘Junius’ may possess .

Michael McGough, his senior NEC colleague urged just that of all and sundry upon this very forum.

The report by Mr Ransome must follow a natural path, chronologically.

Assisting with the Trimdon by-election with Mr Ransome during a very long day , I brought to his attention as the correct officer for members to turn to and in the proper civilised way; financial matters that were causing great concern to members, including:

The Ashford Call Centre raised money, Ashford Employment Ltd. and matters pertaining to legal requirements and the banking of our donated money.

UIKIP Wine World and the aparent disappearence of all of our money. The lack of HMRC VAT compliance. Failure of any documentation with evidently imported wine from The Lebanon being sold at UKIP events, having destroyed the proper and legal UKIP Wine World approved by the NEC.

Up to six years of national prize draws, perhaps 13 in total where monies appear not to be banked within the UKIP national accounts .

The draws under the Lotteries Acts were illegal, no licence, indeed evidently previously a legal status cancelled in favour of an illegal one.

The odd useage of a private business address in London for receipt of our monies and tickets, where indeed Mrs Kirston Farage had worked. The Birmingham H.Q. should have been used and that city council for legal registration.

Subsequently, Mr Ransome at an EMCC meeting questioned me quite specifically about the Ashford Call Centre. Details of dates when approaches were made for money, amounts donated and questions around these matters.

it must be remembered that his employer, Mr Clark MEP was indeed the national party secretary during those very generous and prosperous times and with concern expressed thus Mr Clark may have had concerns too ?

Mr Ransome does have that detail as requested by him.

Further Mr Ransome, within that report should list for Mr Stuart Wheeler the treasurer, ( and of course the police) areas that require external audit with an opportunity for one and all to question figures as provided.

This will include:

Ramsgate Call Centre.

Ashford Call Centre / Ashford Employment Ltd.

Preston Call Centre.

Around 13 national prize draws under the Lotteries Act unregistered anywhere in Britain, and the use of a private business address in an unrelated city to H.Q. where money was sent.

UKIP Wine World and all HMRC documents.

The use of a Bath council flat for receipt of monies.

£ 211,000 appearing to disappear from a set of regional accounts as ” other costs”

£ 250,000 obtained for a street collection of names and addresses when only an A4 sheet of paper was provided for that money and he ( Mr Ransome) told us to go away and photocopy it.

£ 11,000 destined for The Metric Martyers of Sunderland appears to disappear. Where is it ?

All movements of IDG group money.
Is that 10 MEP’s x E 50,000 per annum x 5 years ? A vast sum of money.

All movements of E.F.D. group money .
Is that 12 MEP’s x E 50,000 per annum x 5 years

Expanations about the Ohio account.

Explanations about something that may be called the 4000 account ?

These are some of the areas for Mr Ransome to concern himself with, we may provide a few more however.

Mr Ransome , within this report must also include the following:
I resigned with great sadness from the NEC quite specifically due to frauds, including as reported .I had honestly attempted to do something to protect us but the support was not available.

I was treated very badly at that last meeting, raving, shouting swareing abuse as others just bowed their heads to the table in shame.It was reported to Bedfordshire police by someone, not me though.

I thought that was the end of the matter, I just wanted to get on with branch and regional work, .

Subsequenty, a lot of nasty things happened, including:
A person identified to me by Northampton Borough Council using a mobile telephone rang them and attempted to drive me off the MEP lists that I was legally a part of .Nasty lies and defamation was used against me.

My then just widowed mother was traced ( different telephone district to me) and two frightening calls made about me intending to intimidate her and thus me by implication.

The Inland Revenue were missled about me costing all money.

( Richard ‘Ski’ experienced similar but far worse in that context)

I begin to hear verbal statements of very nasty things indeed about me.

I was isolated for standing up to fraud and questioning the evident disappearence of our money.

The News of the World paper was fed a lot of information about me and Sophy Ridge telephoned me about matters pertaining to a former police officer and UKIP MEP Tom Wise. I politely send them away.

Donald Ransome, who sometimes calls himself the Regional Organiser spammed my computer, costing me money to effect a repair.

Donald Ransome spammed my computer to total destruction using some device , such that it crashed, and mechanics were unable to access anything from it.Physical evidence is held by the police, and myself too.

I had to buy another system.

The entire contents of my computer was evidently taken to be replaced by ‘Spam’ from Mr Ransome, this included a valuable and saleable asset, namely my Bedfordshire police statement concerning Mr Tom Wise MEP and our UKIP Wine World money.

Donald Ransome at my last EMCC spent 1 hour and twenty minutes abusing me, shouting threats. I was not intimidated.

At that meeting I held up numerous examples of unlawful prize draws and questioned about the whereabouts of our money.

At that meeting I held up bank statements from Ashford Call Centre that showed quite huge money movements in and out. I was specific about £ sums.

At that meeting I raised UKIP wine world with certain documentation shown.

He, Mr Ransome three times threatened to take me outside and evidently beat me up.

Mr Ransome made an evident death threat intent to me. All of course witnessed.

I never raised my voice, I never used a wrong word.I was always calm and restrained.

Mrs Ransome, known as Sue; threatened to sue me. So, with Sue to sue and Donald to beat me up three times perhaps prior to even worse I was with others thrown off the committeee by the new chairman Mr Clark who appeared to seize the chair from the properly elected officer Mr Baker.

Two members dared to ask of Sue ( to sue remember) why she needed to take her shouting and raving and stabbing off at an odd tangent. Something appeared to worry her greatly.

Meanwhile no answers have ever been provided to very simple legitimate questions about our money, as given. Odd.

Then officers of the party attempt a reconciliation of our national accounts. Bank statements showing perhaps up to 95% of our money movements as explained converted into cash I am assurred appears to leave the party coffers.

I write all without prejudice and as explained.

Considerable work is carried out upon H.Q. site Birmingham thence elsewhere. The work is properly filed and documented. Certain bank statements were specifically denied however. Originals ( not copies, but the originals) were carefully stored within an unused office.

Following me being driven off the EMCC with nastiness, Mr Geoffrey Kingscott a former party secretary is treated to a similar action. Someone has explained to me that his abuse as received was worse than mine, but I was history by then and merely an object of derision.

A mild mannered man only interested in the well being of the party and members, Mr Kingscott never returns.

The the 15 year serving East Midlands treasurer always re-elected has a police raid upon his home and from around 0800-1800 questioned aggressivly and literally terrified by lies that had been fed to a charity, ‘Crimestoppers’ about him that caused a police raid with 8/9 officers and a battering-ram device. The stories are a slander.
His health was broken by that incident.Literally terrified by what was going on his mental/pschological state was damaged by the experience.
He had discovered much.

Mr Ransome’s report will of course recall the then national treasurer Mr Smith and his e-mails during the Electoral Commissioners case that appeared to request forms of misleading the authorities as to what was going on in certain contexts.

The report will explain how Mr Derek Clark MEP was always evidently able to deny any E.U. fraud office involvement with his affairs. Reports of false accounting and moneylaunding evidently untrue.

Mr Ransome needs to discuss any destruction of paperwork and computers if it ever happened.
Who was involved destroying the Nottingham office contents ( if it occurred).
Why would people do that ?
Were any originals or copies of attempts to reconcile our national accounts found there during the frenzy and destroyed, or taken to places from where they were hidden ?

Why were the failed attempts not given to the authorities and an investigation requested, in order to protect volunteer members. ?

As Mr Pain writes, ” Nigel is already watching me very carefully and it would stop me from trying to reform the party “
Mr Ransome needs to articulate those reforms as described by his regional chairman and NEC member, that hopefully take account of the above and perhaps even more.
” some great mileage her for Junius” writes Mr Pain over another of his wheezes.

Well before ‘Junius’ and Mr Pain go public, perhaps they will assist Mr Ransome with his report and deliver it to West Midlands police ( along with Mr Pain’s computers) where a live investigation has consumed resources for over one year now.
Volunteer members who were so very kind and generous deserve just that.

Finally , may I congratulate all of the decent volunteers with their recent Eastleigh by-election result, ( this following Corby and Rotheram) .They are a credit to the British Eurosceptic movement.

May I add a caveat! Whatever Ian Gillman may claim I have every reason to believe that Chris Pin hasn’t a clue nor any valid provenance as to who may be on The Junius Team and thus clearly has absolutely no influence over them or personal input to their articles or comments.You may safely be aware that several of the points Gillman attributes to Pain and a contact with Team Junius have been items supplied by myself to the team having garnered the information from third party verifiable sources almost all of whom are in The EU.

As with the simple fact that Chris Pain’s managing to get himself onto UKIP NEC has led to a great deal of annoyance on the part of Nigel Farage – seemingly just as he was determined to strangle the nascent aims of transparency, probity and openness of an accountable leadership represented by Dr. David Abbott, Dr. Eric Edmond and others as with Richard Suchorzewski and others previously.

It is also worth noting that of his own admission Ian Gillman is not very computer literate and has had detailed discussion with me in tyhe past regarding computer protection and clearly claimed he had no recognised computer anti virus system.

Frankly the degree of professionalism of the attacks on his computer, had he had even the simplest form of virus protection, way exceeds the importance of anything that might ever have been on his computer and never, in all his dramatic accusations has he EVER identified anything of consequence on his computer worthy of the efforts of professional standard hacking with or without anti virus.

Ask yourself what gain would ANYONE derive from hacking Gillman’s computer? He clearly has failed to convince me and others of any motivation anyone might have beyond seeking to possibly irritate him!

Greg_L-W..

Will UKIP ever win?

A couple of reflections upon Eastleigh. Firstly it was indeed an appalling night for Labour; midterm the party came second in this constituency in the early 90s. It received the votes a joke candidate might expect this time around. Maybe that’s because they put a comedian in the seat. I have no objection to John O’Farrell’s writing at all; but maybe one reason for Labour’s failure – and probably not the most important – was his candidature. He is the sort of thing London Labour loves; metropolitan, cool, ever so witty. Ever so PC. Does any of that play outside the M25? I don’t think so. And the result would suggest I’m right. Ed needs to grasp the hand of Maurice Glasman a little more tightly.

Second; the Rennard stuff was of absolutely no consequence, was it? It did not play. Nobody cared. I suspect that beyond the M25 most people think the whole business is an absurdity and a staggering irrelevance. Women as well as men.

Thirdly – as a caveat to the press hailing UKIP’s success (and of course they did very well). Will they ever actually win? This was the time, and the place. As Primo Levi once said; if not now, when? They are still a conduit for the pissed off protest voters; it is to Farage’s credit that these people are now drawn from all three major parties, rather than just the Tories. But can they ever be more than that?

To which you will notice I felt compelled to point out the following facts:

Hi,

you will also have noticed UKIP’s victory was a resounding achievement if you subtract all the votes of those who did not vote for them.

However you overlook the fact that the outright winners were those who voted for pro EU parties showing just what a resounding failure UKIP actually was, having failed to be linked with their core, and only consequential, message with a mere 14% of the vote at a time when the public at large, by a majority, oppose membership of The EU and amongst Tory members alone over 60% demand a Referendum in which they intend to vote to Leave-The-EU.

The spectacular failure of UKIP to capitalise on this shows just how apposite was the comment ‘if they can’t get elected now what real chance of ever being elected do they have …?’

If only they could find competent and professional leadership and the trust of the people! Sadly unlikely in their present form!

Nigel Farage’s Plant for UKIP in Eastleigh Diane Martine James or Mrs. Diane Forrest of Greater Significance with Marta Andreasen’s departure to The Tories!!!

.

~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.
Hi,
with Marta Andreasen now departed, to join the Tories who totally rejected her as a candidate when first she tried to wheedle her way into a seat in The EU, and aware of just how crass are Nigel Farage’s abilities in man management and selection I felt a few more details might be apposite on Mrs. Diane Martine James.
JAMES, Diane Martine 02
Let me first thank a couple of friends, who assisted me, individuals who, like me, support the primary aims of UKIP and desperately wish the party could be cleaned-up and rid of the self seeking dross that has hijacked the leadership positions and the odious claque they sponsor to keep themselves on the gravy train.
I found companies associated with Diane Martine James (DMJ1) here:
http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/906262574
and (DMJ2) here:
http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/915838123
and with Diane Martine James Forrest here (whether an assumed name for convenience or a tacit nod to a marriage she seeks to hide, as John Richard Forrest is, amongst other things, an adviser and presumably lobbyist assisting The EU!)
http://www.cdrex.com/diane-martine-james-forrest/1455316.html
I noted at DMJ1 that her co-directors of Hamgain were Edwin James (b.1928) and Sandra S Cheesman (b.1962), who I assume to be her father and sister.
Edwin’s address was in Chatham which, if the family home, fits with UKIP’s notes that Diane was brought up in Kent;   Sandra appears here:
http://www.192.com/atoz/people/cheesman/sandra/po18/2593831634/
sharing her address in Chidham with a David Roger Cheesman in 2002,
and as Sandra S James from 2003. (?Divorced?)
She also turns up on Chidham & Hambrook parish council!
I found companies associated with John Richard Forrest (JRF1) here:
http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/900734577
and here (JRF2):
http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/913360321
and here (JRF3):
http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/913360321
and also here (JRF4):
https://www.duedil.com/director/916443772/john-richard-forrest
though at first I wasn’t sure they were all the same person, it does seem they are.
John Richard Forrest’s biography can be found at:
http://www.gleesonexecutive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=138&Itemid=535
this links all three lists, with NTL, Virgin Media, 3i and Blue Wave from (JRF1),
Zinwave from (JRF2)
and European Microelectronics Academy and Narec Capital from (JRF3).
It also gives the interesting piece of information about him advising the European Commission on technology initiatives!
One almost loses the will to live trying to untangle his different addresses as it is hard to tell whether those I found were private or company addresses.
One that is interesting is here:
http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/director/257037/john-forrest
Balmer Lawn Road, Brockenhurst, is also the address of his co-director Jane Patricia Forrest at Forrest Farm Enterprises (JRF1) and Egan International (JRF2).
There was also an Alexander I Forrest living there in about 2002-3.
Could Jane Patricia Forrest be a now cast off wife and Alexander a son?
At all events it would seem he currently co-habits with Diane. A recent marriage is more than possible and aware of her age and political aspirations Diane opted to retain her maiden name.
There was a planning application in 2005 from Mr & Mrs J Forrest at Abingerwood, whether prior to her relationship with John Forrest or utilising either her new married name or an assumed name and style (Perfectly legal to use ANY name one may choose as long as there is no intention to defraud – I should know as I added a hyphen to my name whilst still at school and have used my name with a hyphen ever since).
Here is that planning application:
JAMES, Diane Martine 01
Probably none of this matters very much. The silly part is if I could only have found some basic checkable information I would very soon have lost interest in her, but it tends to bugs me that none of the details released by UKIP quite fit.
UKIP’s track record of inventing CVs and backgrounds of its ‘chosen’ plants is near consistently dishonest, which leads one to doubt as one knows as a fact UKIP can not be trusted to tell the truth.
There are no names of the “succession of major pharmaceutical companies” it is claimed she worked for, the “healthcare agency” business she established, what she was doing in Boston, or the “independent consulting business” she founded.
Googling the Scottish healthcare conference her company launched, NHS Masterclass, and HFMA and I found no reference to her at all! Which in the light of the lies Nigel Farage told us and aided David Bannerman and also Marta QAndreasen to promote gives rise to reasonable suspicions I am sure any honest individual would agree!
Only in connection with ProVen VCT does one come across this:
http://markets.ft.com/research/Markets/Tearsheets/Directors-and-dealings?s=PHV:LSE
You will note: “Ms. Diane James is Non-Executive Independent Director of ProVen Health VCT Plc.
She is an independent adviser to a number of healthcare organisations involving healthcare innovation in the Uk and Europe.
She was formerly the chair of the Surrey & Sussex CLRN (Comprehensive Local Research Network), part of the National Institute for Health Research which was established by the UK Department of Health in 2006, to support clinical innovation research in the UK.
She has a wide range of healthcare experience at senior management level in both the public and private sectors and has founded, developed and divested a specialist healthcare communications business.”
CAVEAT: This MAY be another Diane James as there is reference of an American born Diane James who has 30 years experience in Health Care – perhaps, as so often happens in UKip Diane James has confused herself with someone else (many will remember the pack of lies provided in the CV of David Bannerman!)
also note references on pages pages 12 and 28 at:
http://markets.ft.com/research/Markets/Tearsheets/Directors-and-dealings?s=PHV:LS
Even her education is puzzling, details proving elusive.
She is supposed to have attended Thames Valley University, but it only became a university in 1992 when she was 33 and had supposedly was establishing her own businesses. Did she manage to fit in a part-time degree there as well, or did she in fact do a course at what was then the Thames Valley College of Higher Education when she was 18 or so?
I don’t know nor especially care, but it’s typical of her that even over this there’s a question mark.
I freely admit there is a tendency not to give her the benefit of the doubt in the light of the regular dishonesty of UKIP over Nigel Farage’s chosen ‘plants’.
Her twitter thingy is at https://twitter.com/DianeUKIP
Clearly a construct for her new ambitions with UKIP, as you will note she remains an Independent in her actual political achievements, choosing NOT to represent UKIP or give her name to supporting UKIP
Finally, Farage tweeted on Feb 15, “I was at the Eastleigh campaign base before Brux today. Always travelling”.  I’d already seen at
http://nigelfaragemep.co.uk/pages/posts/nigel-farage-in-eastleigh-to-help-launch-by-election-campaign-236.php
his excuse for not standing at Eastleigh himself was:
‘The reason is simple: I am leading this party into the local elections in England and then the European elections and thirdly, it’s quite busy in Brussels and I need to be there”.
Though I believe it was a sensible decision, in that for Farage to fail yet again, in a high profile by-election would serve him ill – even were it good for UKIP, which I do not believe his presence to be save amongst the chavery of the pub class who are increasingly being reduced in numbers.
Farage’s much publicised excuses bear clower inspection in the light of UKIP’s general dishonesty!
Well, the locals are not for another nine weeks after Eastleigh, and the Euros for over a year, so a look at the EP’s calendar seemed apposite:
http://www.europarl.europa.eu/pdf/general/cal2013.pdf
to see what pressing matters were tying him up over there.
The first week of the Eastleigh campaign was MEPs’ constituency week when he shouldn’t have been in Brussels at all, and weeks 2 and 3 are committee weeks which don’t involve Farage as he’s not on any committees! His most recent resignation being from The Fisheries Committee after his embarrassing failure of leadership where UKIP failed to vote on The CFP in the Parliament and it was made public that he had failed to attend the committee for a considerable time!
The only day on which he would have scheduled meetings would be the day before polling, when there are group and Conference of Presidents meetings, involving his milch cow the racist, anti homosexual, xenophobic, anti Jewish supporting EFD Group he has dragged UKIP into the gutter of EU politics to support!
So what else is he so busy doing in Brussels?
We are obviously not meant to ask!
Interesting that Marta has now gone. Looks like I was right in my predictions and the prediction that Diane James was Nigel Farage’s new plant for the job as an MEP – well I guess UKIP must face facts that there is no point in a candidate who might outshine Farage as he would soon destroy them.
The other sad fact is there is absolutely no one of any visible merit who could step up to the plate in UKIP South East, so how ever foolish Farage’s manouvering is as leader, as his track record has shown again and again he uses and abuses people for his personal gain and all too often his judgement in personnel selection is at best crass!
Hi,
Let us not forget that Marta Andreasen was the protege of Niogel Farage, Malcolm Lord Pearson & Huw Williams – 3 utter fools in any political terms, without a shred of leadership skills, competent judgement or reliability let alone loyalty to others between them.
Marta Andreasen was foist on the UKIP members as something of a ‘Bill of Goods’ her status was lied about and her achievements and CV were equally corrupt. Likewise the manner of the dishonesty of her ‘placement‘ by Farage as she stood in more than one Region so as to ensure her appointment and her identity as a resident of these United Kingdoms eligible for election based on a pack of lies from UKIP’s leadership scoundrels.
UKIP MEP Marta Andreasen defects to Conservatives
UKIP leader Nigel Farage and MEP Marta Andreasen Relations between UKIP leader Nigel Farage and MEP Marta Andreasen had become strained.
A senior member of the UK Independence Party has said she is leaving the party to join the Conservatives.
Marta Andreasen, a South East region MEP, sent her resignation letter to UKIP leader Nigel Farage on Friday.
It comes two weeks after she accused the UKIP leader of bullying and being “anti-women” and “a Stalinist” and threatened to leave the party.
In response, Mr Farage said the Tories “deserve what is coming to them” and added: “The woman is impossible.”
Marta Andreasen, 58, said resigning from UKIP to join the Conservatives was not a decision that she took lightly.
In an open letter expressing her dissatisfaction with UKIP, she accused Mr Farage of treating any views other than his own with contempt.
Ms Andreasen said she did not believe the party could offer “real leadership”.
The woman is impossible”
She said Mr Farage surrounded himself with “an old boys club of like-minded sycophants”, whereas Conservative leader David Cameron had shown “he can listen, adapt and do what is right for the country, not just for personal gain”.
The MEP said the prime minster’s speech on Britain’s relationship with the EU last month had convinced her the Conservatives were the “true referendum party”.
Conservative Party Chairman Grant Shapps said he was “delighted” to welcome her to his party.
“She brings a wealth of experience – and a dedication to fight for what’s best for the British people in Europe,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Friday, the UKIP leader said: “Having left the OECD, the European Commission and UKIP in unpleasant circumstances, the Conservative Party deserve what is coming to them.
“The woman is impossible.”
Sole femaleRelations between Ms Andreasen and Mr Farage had been strained for some time, with Ms Andreasen calling for Mr Farage to quit after the party’s poor performance in council elections in 2011.
Since then, UKIP’s fortunes have improved and it recorded its best performance in a parliamentary by-election in Rotherham in December.
Ms Andreasen, who is Spanish but was born in Argentina, worked as an auditor and financial director for various companies before working as an accountant for the European Commission in 2002.
She later joined UKIP and was elected in 2009. She currently sits on six committees in the European Parliament.
Ms Andreasen had been UKIP’s sole remaining female MEP, after Nikki Sinclaire was expelled from the party in 2010.
Ms Sinclaire later brought a sexual discrimination case against the party which was subsequently dropped.
At the time, UKIP issued a statement affirming its “opposition to discrimination on all grounds as prescribed by law and otherwise” and stressed that sexuality was “no bar to involvement or advancement” within the party.
The Tories may well make show of welcoming Marta Andreasen, par5ticularly at such a propitious time, as an endorsement of David Campbell’s duplicitous fudged promise of a referendum on The EU and his pretence that he can renegotiate the terms of Britain’s entrapment in The EU scam – the date of the betrayal of UKIP by Marta Andreasen is also of value in exposing the irrelevance of UKIP in the Eastleigh by election.
I believe the Tories will live to regret their involvement with this duplicitous foreigner just as they do with regard to the previous betrayal of UKIP by the dishonest and duplicitous scoundrel David Bannerman.
Hi,
clearly having consistently failed in domestic politics in these United Kingdoms for some 20 years, with less than 30 people elected to any office of consequence in British politics, where some 19,500 seats are available by election – it ill becomes Nigel Farage to posture and preen in Scotland where during those 20 years UKIP have made virtually no progress:
Interview: meet Nigel Farage
Thursday 21 February 2013
UK Political Editor MICHAEL SETTLE meets the UKIP leader who’s never short of an opinion or two for an in-depth interview on Europe, immigration, and the independence referendum
It is an irony piled on top of another irony that Nigel Farage’s London office sits uncomfortably in Europe House, the headquarters of the European Commission which, in a previous guise, was the home to Conservative Central Office.
When I mention this, the UKIP leader points out that the Commission’s London postcode even has the letters EU in it. “I’m not kidding,” declares Mr Farage, his eyes rolling in disbelief.
Yet while he might be a political cuckoo in the EU nest, the ebullient politician appears to be sitting pretty.
Never in such media demand, UKIP’s fortunes – in England, at least – are on the rise. Opinion polls have put the anti-EU party as high as 16%, while in a raft of by-elections last year it came second or third, replacing the Liberal Democrats as many voters’ party of protest.
“Yeah, to have grown over the last couple of years in the opinion polls the way we have has been very gratifying but we have to prove that that’s material and not theoretic. That’s why the county elections (this year in England) are very important and the euro elections (next year across the UK) are crucial to the whole momentum thing.”
Yet while momentum has been building south of the border, UKIP has barely caused a ripple in the Scottish political pool.
At the last euro election in 2009, it came sixth behind the Greens and polled under 5% and in the 2011 Holyrood elections, when UKIP proposed scrapping MSPs and replacing them at Holyrood with Westminster MPs, it did even worse and got less than 1%.
“Yeah, I have said Scotland has been a graveyard for us and that’s because the entire national debate in Scotland has been a different debate and the word ‘independence’ has meant something entirely false and that’s why I’m so pleased it’s been exposed and we can now have a proper debate in Scotland about far bigger constitutional issues than the relationship between Holyrood and Westminster; far bigger than that is the relationship of both those institutions with Brussels and that’s all changed.
“What’s been very interesting over the last few months is that as UKIP has grown in the polls we’ve grown in Scotland too.”
Like many others perhaps, I missed this development and ask what evidence Mr Farage has for this.
“Look at the regional breakdowns; look at YouGov, Comres, Survation, look at all of them. They vary and they fluctuate but we’ve been as high as 9% of the vote in Scotland. Given where we came from two years ago, it’s a significant shift, a potential shift in support for UKIP in Scotland.
“I’m not pretending it’s easy. We’ve managed in Wales, we got 15% in Wales, very credible, almost in line with our national percentage. We’ve had some little bits of electoral success in Northern Ireland. Clearly, the north of England has developed into almost as much as a powerhouse than the south of England for UKIP.
“The idea that perhaps people might have had 10 years ago that this is a sort of home-counties-retired half-colonels-who-were-jolly-angry (party), clearly that’s changed already.
“The missing part of the jigsaw within the UK has been Scotland and that’s because the debate hasn’t allowed us in; there’s been a different conversation going on.”
He goes on: “I never, ever make rash or stupid predictions, I just don’t – maybe comment and statements – and we are going to do everything we can in 2014 in the European elections in Scotland to get a breakthrough and to get elected representation in Scottish politics.
“We have proved in England that even with a small bridgehead, if your position is a good intellectual position, that is clearly arguable and events prove you right, you can build from a small bridge head into something that is quite significant in politics. I would say for UKIP in Scotland the 2014 European elections are the absolutely key.”
The UKIP leader makes clear that if the party is to become any sort of political force in Scotland, then it has to succeed in the 2014 euro elections.
“So I’m putting it on the line. For UKIP Scotland, who have been a relatively small organisation and who have valiantly battled on, who in the last year and a bit have suddenly started to grow and attract some fresh talent, our campaign on wind farms and various things is suddenly bringing in new and different type people.
“But there has to be some realisable gain to keep any sense of momentum and any positivity within the party going forward; 2014 is the watershed for UKIP Scotland.”
Unlike most politicians, who pause and nuance their remarks, trying to avoid controversy at any price, Mr Farage shoots from the hip and seems to revel in his forthrightness, laughing his tobacco-flavoured croaky laugh many times throughout the interview.
Yet the only time he hesitates and goes quiet is when I ask if 2014 – when pundits believe UKIP will attract the largest number of votes – could be a moment when British politics is realigned.
“I’ve wondered and thought about this for years…It’s such a tough question to answer but I would just say this – some of the top line issues that are most closely and clearly associated with UKIP are of such enormous power as political issues across the political spectrum; the Thatcherite right will agree with them but very big sections of patriotic Old Labour feel the same on these questions too, that there is the possibility that we could do what the Reform Party of Canada did and do something dramatic and remarkable.”
So it could be a mould-breaking SDP moment?
“Oh no, they got Blair. Blair was the first SDP Prime Minister. In fact, they’re all bloody SDP. Cameron’s SDP. The SDP achieved a total victory without actually winning themselves. This can manifest itself in lots of ways. In the case of the Reform party in Canada, they became the biggest party in the Canadian Parliament. So this can manifest itself in all sorts of different ways.”
So is it possible UKIP could realign British politics?
“Again, as I said earlier, I don’t make wild and silly predictions but I do think there is something very powerful in our headline issues.”
One of which is immigration. The latest controversy that has flared up is about what might or might not happen from January 2014 – just four months before those euro elections – when the work restrictions on Bulgaria and Romania will be lifted.
The UK Government, having admitted to having its own estimate about a possible influx of migrants, then said it did not have one; the estimate in 2004 when Poland and other eastern European countries joined the EU turned out to be wildly inaccurate.
“They’re in a mess,” declares Mr Farage. “They’re really scared because for years it was easy: Europe was over there, that was for intellectuals like Bill Cash and the Oxford Union; and immigration was over there and an entirely separate issue. Now in the minds of the public, they’re coming together as one and the same and they’re absolutely terrified of it.
“Every estimate that has been put out over the last 10 years on this, be it by the British Government, be it by the Romanian embassy, be it by whoever you like, has always been wrong by a factor of five or by a factor of 10 or whatever it may be. They’re half hoping it will go away.”
The UKIP leader produces a piece of paper and insists the declaration at the weekend by Coalition ministers that they can get tough with EU migrants wishing to take advantage of Britain’s benefits system is pie in the sky.
“Cameron says any Romanian who comes and has appendicitis will die on the street and we’ll all stand around and laugh. Within five hours of him saying it, Viviane Reding, the relevant European Commissioner, comes back and says sorry these are treaty commitments and she’s right.”
He refers to the habitual residency test where a migrant has to prove he or she is a job seeker, a worker, a student, a self-employed person or a self-sufficient person to qualify for welfare.
“Apart from pensioners, no one is excluded. What will not happen is Romanian pensioners will not be able to come and get old age pensions, that’s clear. That’s the one group of Romanians who will find access to direct benefit more difficult but absolutely everbody else that I can see can pass habitual residence. It’s possible that they could under the law be made to wait three months. I completely concede it’s possible.
“But if you come in and say I’m self-employed and I’m going to go and apply to be a Big Issue seller, you are by definition a self-employed person seeking work and you qualify on day one and not just for unemployment benefit but for housing benefit as well.
“There’s nothing this mob can do about this because they have signed us up to be in a political union with countries who frankly…Bulgaria and Romania are not fit to be in a political union with us. I’m not stating that political point of view from arrogance or anything like that. I can fully accept we could be in a political union with France and Germany – I don’t want us to be – but I can see why in many ways that might be a valid proposition on the table but with these former Communist east European states, countries who have not recovered..”.
So talk of a crackdown by Iain Duncan Smith was just spin?
“The improbability of what’s being said…is laughable. He was trying to stop people voting UKIP in the Eastleigh by-election. They’re terrified. It’s the biggest issue on the doorstep. I tell you why. When the Government said up to 15,000 a year from eastern Europe (would come), there are more than that in Southampton, and Eastleigh is a suburb of that. People down there are seeing social housing, a chronic problem in Eastleigh, and unskilled labourers getting jobs, just a nightmare.”
Europe, of course, or rather getting Britain out of the EU, is UKIP’s raison d’etre. When I suggest David Cameron with his promise of an in-out referendum had shot his party’s fox, the Farage eyes bulge.
“If he wins the next election, no chance; following a renegotiation, not on offer; he will give us a referendum, heard it all before; cast iron Dave, why on earth would we believe him this time round and even if he means it, we have reached the point of ‘cry wolf’, nobody else believes him. The body language, the tone, everything about that speech dripped with insincerity from start to finish.”
But it was a success politically because the putative rebellion by Conservative MPs has fizzled away, I suggest.
“They’re tribal Tories, who gives a damn about them? Forget that building over there, let’s talk about the housing estate a mile down the road, what’s the impact been three weeks on? Zero.
“Far from shooting our fox what he has done inadvertently is to legitimise everything we have said for 20 years by putting it into the mainstream national debate; that there should be a conversation on in or out and, secondly, unwittingly and without wanting to he has let the genie out of the bottle.
“Rather like with the euro once we had a public debate on the euro public opinion swung against it. It was 50-50 in the 1990s, absolutely 50-50, people like me were thinking God almighty, they’re selling us easier holidays in Spain, and maybe they’re going to carry the day. But when we had the full debate after Blair, Heseltine and Clarke launched the Britain in Europe initiative, within 18 months we had a two-to-one majority against joining the euro and it’s never changed since.
“The same is true of the bigger broader European debate, the genie is now out of the bottle, this can’t be suppressed, there is going to be a debate on all four corners of the United Kingdom over the next year or two, or over the next five years, on this issue and that from my perspective is all to the good.”
So, I suggest, that must lead to the referendum Mr Farage believes Mr Cameron, despite his promise, will not deliver.
“If UKIP closed down tomorrow, there would be no referendum ever. We could be here in 100 years. His backbenchers pose no threat to him at all. There isn’t a single Tory backbencher who has said they would vote against their prime minister in a motion of confidence, not one. If we disappear, the referendum threat goes; if we stay, the referendum threat will be maintained. I very much believe that one of UKIP’s very important jobs is to make sure that Labour make the same promise too – and they will.”
Yet he acknowledges that the PM’s speech was necessary to stop Tory MPs joining UKIP. “Had he not made that speech there would have been defections; yes, of course.”
It is when I mention Europe in the context of the Scottish independence debate that I realise I have lit the blue touch paper. The development this week with Nicola Sturgeon insisting an independent Scotland would not need to sign a full accession treaty but simply amend the current one visibly ruffles the Farage forehead.
“There’s nothing she has said on television that has impressed me. Frankly, she appears to be grossly out of her depth in the position she is in. Just for once, I’m going to go with Mr Barroso and not Nicola Sturgeon.”
He continues: “At least Irish nationalism is a pure, honest form of nationalism. Scottish nationalism, which has been a fraud committed on the Scottish electorate for the last few decades, has finally been exposed as nothing more than what has now become its own political class, seeking to justify its own existence. There is complete intellectual and economic dishonesty in the SNP’s arguments and I frankly have got no time for them at all, or her.”
Mr Farage, who has previously acknowledged a sneaking respect for Alex Salmond – who has passed his ‘would I have a pint with this person’ test – says the First Minister played a good hand on independence “up until he was exposed”.
He explains: “For a couple of decades, he played the hand incredibly well. He sold a completely false argument to the Scots, that you could leave Westminster and be independent and, in a little after-breath, be part of the EU.
“Gradually as time has gone on, it has become clearer and clearer to people in Scotland that being in the EU is completely inconsistent with the concept of independence and what sealed it is the European Commission President making clear that if you left the UK you have to reapply and sign a treaty that commits you to joining the euro.
“So that’s what’s changed everything and frankly the sheer dishonesty, the twists and turns, and the hiding of the report and all the things the SNP have done, they’re doing themselves electorally huge damage.”
So where does this leave the SNP’s campaign for independence?
“It’s finished already. I don’t think the SNP proposal of Scottish independence as part of the EU flies, works, is logical; it’s done, it’s dead in the water. Far too many canny Scots have worked that out.
“If the SNP is able to reposition itself between now and the referendum, we can have this conversation again, but at the minute they appear to be in such a muddle and backtracking on everything, from the currency to the sovereign to…some idea this could be a treaty amendment, no, the irrationality of their position has been exposed.”
I ask if he will, given his forthright pro-UK views, be an asset to the No campaign? He replies he will not be part of it.
“That’s for Scottish UKIP to get involved in, it’s not for me to get involved in. If I’m asked to speak in a university debate, I probably would. Am I going to be touring round Scotland in a referendum campaign on Scottish independence? No. UKIP Scotland can do that. I don’t see that as my role particularly.”
Yet UKIP is regarded as the Nigel Farage Party?
“Look, I have given, in so many ways, maybe illogically, the best years of my adult life in trying to make this point of view and this political brand an accepted, mainstream, genuine part of national British political debate.
“I’ve no idea why I’ve done it. I can’t explain it. It didn’t fit into my life plan at all. I’ve just done it and I’ve probably got more drive, more energy and more belief than most people who walk through the front door.
“But I couldn’t have done it on my own. I couldn’t have done it without thousands of activists and lots of people…There is a team of people behind Nigel that help to make this work now and without whom it couldn’t have worked.”
A politician referring to themselves in the third person is always interesting but, given the party’s rising star, is he regretting not standing in Eastleigh?
“No. If Diane James does win, you boys will not go on saying we’re a one-man party; that’ll be ended. That blows a hole in that.
“It’s my stated aim that I intend to lead this party as an active candidate into the European elections in 2014 and I want to cause an earthquake. I can’t do that as a backbencher in the House of Commons.
“If we’re going to get the momentum for something remarkable to happen in 2015, it can’t happen without a big success in 2014 and right now at this moment in time, it could change, I’m the best qualified person in UKIP to lead that charge in 2014.”
Soon, UKIP will be moving out of Europe House and into spanking new offices off Bond Street; the party’s fortunes, it seems, are moving upmarket.
With no Ukip presence here,
Farage’s politics lack credibility
Friday 22 February 2013
I read, with a sense of incredulity, Nigel Farage’s seemingly scathing attack upon the Scottish Government and the independence referendum (“Farage: Independence dead in the water”, The Herald, February 21).
One may go as far as to assert that at times Mr Farage’s tone was a trifle arrogant. It is surely inconceivable for one to take any credence from what the man has said in the article, when he and his party currently have no seats in Westminster or Holyrood and the rise of Ukip remains to be seen. Undoubtedly, Mr Farage would justify his assertions by highlighting that recent opinion polls may have tended to illustrate a slight support for Ukip in some parts of England and a small proportion in Scotland, in light of the current Coalition and the contentious issue of membership of the European Union.
It is easy for Mr Farage to pour scorn upon the Scottish Government (indeed the UK Government for that matter) as the United Kingdom has, thus far, no experience of his Ukip party as a source of accountable authority.
It will be extremely captivating to observe if Mr Farage’s aspirations amount to what he desires regarding his share of the electorate (especially in Scotland) and how he would put that into practice over a raft of issues, other than the aforementioned issue of severing membership of the EU.
At this stage I don’t envisage anywhere near the sort of landslide victory the SNP enjoyed in the 2011 Holyrood election, or Labour enjoyed in the 1997 General Election, unless something goes drastically wrong with the four main parties in Scotland.
John G McMenemy,
Braeside Avenue,
Milngavie.
I welcome Nigel Farage’s intervention in the independence debate; with friends like him, the No campaign certainly needs no enemies. His remarks, especially about the Deputy First Minister, seem to be based on nothing more than ignorance and prejudice.
Are bluster and assertion really all that is on offer from the opponents of Scottish independence? Where is the much-trumpeted “positive case for the Union”?
The almost daily predictions of impending disaster that would follow a Yes vote from the mainstream UK parties are bad enough, with Mr Farage and Ukip, however, the dissembling and bombast are even more transparent.
If I were a showman I’d say, “Nice try, Nigel, but no coconut!”
David C Purdie,
12 Mayburn Vale,
Loanhead, Midlothian.
It was disappointing to note personal attacks on Nicola Sturgeon by Ukip’s Nigel Farage, a clear act of desperation that has lowered the tone of the independence debate.
Mr Farage’s optimism in putting up Ukip candidates at the next European and Parliamentary elections in Scotland is totally misplaced.
At every election he pledges this will mark a breakthrough for his party in Scotland, but it never transpires.
At the last European Parliamentary elections in 2009 Ukip came second in the UK, securing just under 17% of the vote and securing 13 MEPs.
In Scotland, however, it came behind the Greens in sixth place with just over 5% of the vote. At the last Scottish Parliamentary election in 2011 Ukip achieved less than 1% of the vote.
While this Little Englander party has had success south of the Border, where the majority want the UK to leave the EU, in Scotland this position is reversed with the majority wanting to remain within the largest single market in the world.
Ukip in England has forced Mr Cameron into an in-out referendum on UK membership of the EU, but its isolationist agenda has only ever seen it inhabit the fringes of Scottish politics, where it is destined to remain.
Alex Orr,
77 Leamington Terrace,
Edinburgh.
Clearly some have swallowed Nigel Farage’s duplicitous claims as with Alex Orr above who believes Nigel Farage’s party had something to do with Cameron’s fudged and untrustworthy offer of a Referendum. Neither Nigel Farage nor his rump of a party with no elected individuals of any note, character or gravitas and out of a total of over 19,500 electable offices in UK Governance with less than 30 elected to any office of consequence after 20 years.
It may be of interest to those who have swallowed his propaganda that Nigel Farage had not even signed the UK wide petition in favour of a Referendum devised, organised, collected and delivered by Nikki Sinclaire’s Team that has delivered over 1/4 Million valid and verified signatures to Downing Street and Parliament at Westminster, that forced the debate in Parliament that gave rise to David Cameron’s second guarded promise of a Referendum.
I do concede that Nigel Farage and his clique and their vociferous claque did much to try to sabotage the efforts and assist The EU!
I am also happy to concede that in a shameful example of ‘Band Wagon Jumping’, so true to style, Nigel Farage grudgingly signed the petition AFTER the event!
May I also remind readers and researchers that under the aegis of Nigel Farage, David Lott & Mark Croucher over £1/4M was raised to mount a petition but no such petition was ever presented nor any mechanism set up for its presentation, nor was any accounting of the money raised ever presented and many are of the belief that Nigel; Farage, Davbid Lott & Mark Croucher stole the money for their own benefit!
Clearly, with his ambivalence, posturing and irrelevance in Scotland Nigel Farage and his party have done much to alienate Scottish voter, hence the risible results they have consistently had in Scotland (or for that matter in any area of UK Domestic politics!)
Per exempio:
Ukip warns Scots: ‘don’t expect British cash’
Tom Gordon
Scottish Political Editor
Sunday 23 December 2012
THE leader of the UK Independence Party (Ukip) has warned Alex Salmond he would be “naive in the extreme” to assume the rest of the UK would simply wave through a generous exit package for Scotland in the event of a Yes vote in 2014.
Nigel Farage MEP, whose fiery Euroscepticism has helped his party overtake the Liberal Democrats in recent polls, said the people of England, Wales and Northern Ireland would not want to hand over a “fat cheque” if Scotland chose to quit the UK.
He told the Sunday Herald he had no issue with Scotland deciding its own destiny, but that this was not the same as granting the First Minister’s every wish in negotiations with Westminster.
If there was a Yes vote, talks between Edinburgh and London – including those on how to divide the UK’s assets and the national debt – would start during the 2015 General Election campaign. If Ukip pushed for the rest of the UK to get the best deal possible for its citizens it would upset Salmond’s hopes of a smooth transition, and might mean David Cameron taking a similar hard line for fear of losing more Tory voters to Ukip.
Farage said: “It seems to me a remarkably naive approach for the SNP to think a post-independence rump government of the UK would just say ‘Tally ho chaps, here’s a big cheque’.
“It may be that people like Mr Cameron, Mr Miliband and Mr Clegg would like that to happen.
“But can you imagine the reaction from the English electorate? It would show yet again how out of touch they are in the political class.
“There would be an enormous political reaction, and not just in the Tory shires, but across the country. If they think gay marriage is an issue, it will pale into insignificance compared to that.
“While the political class might want to pat Alex Salmond on the back, there’s absolutely no way that the people of Wales, England and Northern Ireland would be happy with that – of course they wouldn’t.
“And to think that they might just ignore it is daft. It’s naive in the extreme.”
Although a Little Englander approach would finish Ukip in Scotland, no party with UK in its name was ever likely to be particularly active in Scotland after a Yes vote.
The SNP described Farage’s comments as “bizarre”.
A spokesman said: “Scotland already more than pays its own way, and on independence will inherit its share of the assets and liabilities of the UK.
“Ukip has repeatedly failed to make any impression in Scottish politics, which is no surprise given Mr Farage seems so out of touch.”
French far-right leader Marine Le Pen claimed to be in “regular contact” with UKIP, she told The Times after speaking at the Cambridge Union yesterday.
Mrs Le Pen, an MEP and president of the right-wing Front National party in France, denied that her party felt an affinity with the British National Party and added: “I am in regular contact with UKIP. If I felt my options were closer to the BNP I would be in contact with the BNP, but I am in contact with UKIP.”
Nigel Farage’s claim in an attepted defence was:
“I very much doubt she has met an official from UKIP in her life.”
One has to ask oneself if Nigel Farage is deliberately telling lies or is Nigel Farage so out of touch with his party and its executive that he forgets the involvement of Marine LePen with his personally appointed UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom, as quoted in the media and via Godfrey Bloom’s extremist pan EU group The Pan EU Alliance for Freedom
It does rather look as if yet again Nigel Farage and his party, when their extremism is exposed, merely ‘wings it’ with yet another off the cuff lie or policy invented on the spur of the moment!
It is sad that Britain’s once great hope of a EUroSceptic party has been so debased as to be rendered little more than an irritant of no meaningfull consequence  having catastrophically failed to make any meaningfull inroads in domestic politics with less than 30 elected offices out of the  some 19,500 available after 20 years and this includes their embarrassing and crass bevvy of ne’er do wells squabbling and posturing as MEPs in their vile racist, anti homosexual, anti Jewish, anti immigrant, anti Muslim extremist group The EFD, in the gutter of EU politics.
Hi,
as I do not have direct permission to publish the sources of this eMail circulation, wide as it may well be, I have taken the liberty of publishing with sources redacted.
It does make it a tad more difficult to follow but I’m sure you can puzzle it out.
Subject: Re: UKIP Voting – in Brussels!
Hi REDACTED,
I’m not sure when REDACTED circulated this explanation of voting policy from an ‘EUKIP insider’, but, I’m afraid to say that it’s, at best, disingenuous!!!
EUKIP MEP’s have in fact voted for/signed up to EU legislation in the past, and they continue to do so!
[In early 2007, UKIP MEP Derek Clark signed an agreement in Bucharest endorsing subsidiarity and the Common Agricultural Policy?
Roger Knapman, ex UKIP leader, described (at the time) this as a “. . .major departure from what we believed to be UKIP’s policy – withdrawal from the EU, a complete rejection of its authority and of the CAP. Subsidiarity is an EU doctrine which assumes EU sovereignty. . . Accepting subsidiarity accepts ultimate EU sovereignty.”]
Now to the very recent Fisheries Resolutions:
1  On the final resolution relating to the fisheries vote (A7008/2013 Rodust), EUKIP did not support it, but abstained.  This was a vote to remove from the CFP the hugely unpopular, disgraceful and non-sensical discards policy where dead fish are thrown back into the sea.  The Tories, including Euro withdrawalists Hannan and Bannerman, supported the motion.
In fact, if one peruses the various RCVs (electronic votes) it gets worse; much of the time  EUKIP were voting against each other!  Example:
Amendment 220:  most of ukip voted ‘for’ but Farage and Bloom voted to
‘abstain’.
Amendment 253:  most of ukip were ‘against’ but Farage ‘abstained’.
So, where was the EUKIP whip – is there one?  Indeed, did EUKIP have a common policy on this motion or did different researchers and MEPs arrive at different conclusions?
Apart from providing ‘jobs for the boys’ who fall within the favour of Farage and his sycophants, what do the numerous staff in the Brussels branch of ukip actually do?   Certainly, most MEPs in ukip do not bother to attend their committees and ukip has two MEPs with amongst the worst attendance in Brussels – ie Nuttall and Bloom.  Attendance records can be checked by googling Vote Watch
EU.
[REDACTED, maybe your ‘insider’ could answer these questions?]
2  If EUKIP only vote in favour of repealing legislation, why did they not vote to support the Rodust motion, to end discards?!
3   EUKIP say:  “We do not vote FOR any EU legislation (unless it is to straight repeal something, or it censures the Commission, both super-rare), as we do not recognise the legitimacy of the EU, to make laws to govern our country.”
The best that can be said for this claim is that it’s a perfect excuse not to do any work or to scrutinise legislation. In other words, it enables EUKIP MEPs to remain even more lazy than their reputation suggests.
They cannot, of course, have it both ways.  If they vote in favour of censuring the Commission or repealing legislation, then they must recognise the legitimacy of the EU by voting in favour of motions!
The fact is, the EU legislates for the UK.  By ignoring such legislation, EUKIP MEPs do not take part in the process and produce no influence on that process whatsoever.   This was evidenced by Godfrey Bloom’s absence in his Finance Committee, when – due to that absence – a crucial vote affecting the UK tied. The legislation therefore proceeded to Plenary (when Bloom’s Committee vote could have halted it) and was passed.   Had Bloom bothered to attend, the motion would have been thrown out before it reached Plenary.   A Tory MEP referred to this in a Blue Card she put to Bloom some months ago. (Look it up)
Naturally enough, the excuses EUKIP employ are no more than to cover up gross laziness and slothful inactivity.   As Verhofstadt has stated of Farage, ‘what you are doing here is incredible;  you are cheating your own taxpayers’.   That outburst referred to Farage’s absence on his own Fisheries Committee.   Since then, Farage has resigned from his fisheries Committee and is now about the only MEP who does not bother to sit on any Committee.
4  Farage pushed off half way through the voting that Wednesday.  No surprise there:  Farage does whatever he wants but is notorious for excusing himself from voting – a primary purpose of an MEP.  If he had an interview, why did he not conduct it before voting or after voting?   Or could it be that affairs of state are secondary to publicity to satiated the vast ego of this upstart spiv?
5  Finally, here is an example of EUKIP’s absurd position:  if the EU voted to cease the killing of the first born, would EUKIP abstain because the legislation emanated from the EU?
The reality is that the EU makes laws.  The reason MEPs are sent to Brussels is to represent their constituents and nation.   They are not sent to join a well-paying gravy train and do as little as they possibly can get away with doing.
Finally, the claim that UKIP only votes to repeal legislation or censure the Commission is a lie.   On the 27th January,  2005, in a treacherous action, EUKIP MEPs voted to support ‘closer social, political and economic integration’ in the EU, in a motion connected to the holocaust, whose subtext called for ‘closer political, economic and social integration’ with the EU, for brainwashing in schools and for the outlawing of ‘xenophobia’, a thought-crime defined by the EU as merely an aversion to the Euro? EUKIP MEPs, who breached their own party constitution, neither apologised nor renounced this treachery.
Here, I pass to you some interesting information on UKIP voting policy in Brussels – widely criticised, but explained here, by “an insider”!
REDACTED.
=============================================================================================
REDACTED – The crucial Discards Ban vote (amendment 119) we voted against, but it was not RCV (roll call voted) so, no electronic record of it. The final vote was RCV and we did Abstain/No vote, as recorded.
We do not vote FOR any EU legislation (unless it is to straight repeal something, or it censures the Commission, both super-rare), as we do not recognise the legitimacy of the EU, to make laws to govern our country.  On the other hand, the Discards Ban went through and we could not vote AGAINST that, so ABSTAIN was only possible vote.
Also, a NO VOTE does not prove that Nigel was not there, he was there, as the other votes of the day prove, but he could have been interviewing with the BBC, or dealing with any ‘matter arising’ at the precise time of the final vote.
Granted UKIP’s voting is all but irrelevant as they only account for some 9 or ten votes out of some 760 – showing what a farce any pretence at democracy in The EU is!
On issues vital to Britain IF every UK MEP were to vote in Britain’s interest and all voted the same their say would be only 8% of the total and thus completely irrelevant.
Hence I frequently say that the income derived by MEP’s is not for work done for Britain but massive bribes paid from money The EU extorts ffrom those unfortunate enough to be members to use to bribe its lakeys to act as salesmen for the scam!
Hi,
where is Nigel Farage or UKIP when they have a duty to perform?Could it be they were carousing in the pub or seeking better incomes by absence to climb the greasy pole of politics?
Were UKIP remotely professional and minded of the massive income they receive from the public purse their MEPs might perhaps be expected to make financial contributions to the party and the Leave-The-EU cause rather than only seemingly ever to get themselves re-elected!
Nigel Farage’s disappearing fish act
Mary Reid
By | Tue 12th February 2013 – 4:55 pm
 nigel farageLast week I drew attention to the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy, which amongst other improvements ends the practice of discards. Chris Davies MEP has been a leading advocate for reform, and had garnered cross-party support.
Even Nigel Farage had said:
First let me stress that the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) has been a complete environmental, economic and social disaster and UKIP uses what say it has in the EU “Parliament” to vote against discards and protect British fishing.
So it is rather intriguing to learn that in the historic vote last week  to end discards and protect British fishing, UKIP MEP’s voted thus:
  • Nigel Farage: did not vote
  • All remaining 9 MEPs: abstained
So what is the difference between not voting and abstaining? It seems that a non-voter is actually present in the building but does not vote, whereas those who abstained were absent.  Any ideas where Nigel Farage was hiding?
You can view the voting record here. You need to scroll down, then select these two filters:  Group – EFD; Member State – United Kingdom.
