As Ever UKip Are Fighting Like Ferrets In A Sack, In A Corrupt Election! A measure of the utter incompetent as a leader Nigel Farage was is to just look at what a mess his party is in!

Hi,
one wonders why whenever UKip come into the open you find that what they claim for themselves is deeply flawed – in 23 years of claiming to campaign to Leave-The-EU they have never had a single solitary consistent organised and professional campaign – they have however consistently failed to have the vaguest of responsible strategies for how to Leave-The-EU ethically within the framework of international treaty law ensuring Britain does no experience massive damage and huge debts.
I guess it is not all that surprising when one realises that virtually nothing they have ever said or done has been professional or for that matter honest!
Consider a few points from Twitter:

Anyone know when will prove the validity of her CV or is she fraudulently seeking election as leader?

    Greg_Lance-Watkins added,

That is just a quick selection of examples from the last 3 days!
For more facts regarding the new front runner Diane James CLICK HERE
For facts regarding any candidate of any significance use the >SEARCH< facility at the top of the right sidebar. Minded that Broughton, Etheridge and Jones are easily judged by the odds against them and the obviously lack of leadership skills and judgement they have displayed by squandering £5,000 on submitting their applications!
That UKip are willing to seek to profit by charging applicants £5,000 each to be considered leads one to wonder how come they haven’t followed Labour’s lead and charge members £25 to vote! Clearly if Aaron Banks quits as their financier the new leader will have been hyanded a poison chalice as there will be no money to run the party as UKip MEPs are notoriously tight fisted and apart from the seried ranks of crooks who have been sent to prison or ordered to pay back money they had perloined from the tax payers donations have been few and far between other than those who made much show of being donors when it came to funding their own elections to the gravy train!
Now consider the fact that it seems UKip have NEVER managed to organise an internal selection process and/or election that has not raised controversy mainly due to their utterly unprofessional behaviour and corruption – time and time again they have been proven to have lied or cheated!
We have the farcical and fancifull story peddled by UKip firstly that Nigel Farage gave up a highly successfull career in the City when in fact he was just a serial drunk and philanderer who had been fired for his misconduct and to this day (I believe he still owes the money) owes the tax man for his back taxes on his failed company.
We have protestations that he gave up a career where he would have earned far more to control UKip – I think not when he arrived with debts and a cloud over his City career yet today would seem to have assets valued variously at between £3 and £7Million!
We are told how he was a great devotee of Margaret Thatcher yet when one checks the record he voted Green prior to joining UKip!
We hear the myth he peddles that were ity not for him and for his fiefdom of UKip there would be no BreXit and have been no Referendum – this is an outright lie. Neither Nigel Farage nor his party did anything to achieve BreXit, as ever they didn’t even have a responsible strategy of how to Leave-The-EU or what to do to safeguard Britain’s future when we left! In fact Nigel Farage and his claque did almost everything they could to prevent the Referendum – Just as they had utterly failed to actively campaign to oppose the new EU Constitution which morphed into the Lisbon Treaty!
It is an absol;utely unarguable fact thaty the Referendum was the result of the efforts of Nikki Sinclaire and no one else, it was she who campaigned for a referendum and ity was she who put together a team, and largely funded that team, to collect paper signatures in a petition to force the Government to hold a debate on Britain’s future relationship with the EU – a petition that Nigel Farage and his cronies did all they could to sabotage to ensure tjhere was no debate.
Nikki Sinclaire won the day and obtained 1/4Million signatures forcing a debate in the House of Commons in whyich David Cameron’s Government faced its first and worst rebellion, it was that debate which forced Cameron to include the promise of an IN/OUT Referendum in the Tory Manifesto at the next election.
Nigel Farage & UKip did absolutely nothing to achieve BreXit – they even went so far as to split the organisation that was to campaign for OUT, together with their self serving and self aggrandising fundert Aaron Banks.
Now let us look briefly at the claim that Nigel Farage made that he waws resigning as leader of UKip.
Yet even now having said his resignation was immediate he is still seeking to control UKip to ensure his puppet is elected in his stead! It is Nigel Farage actively campaigning against the NEC he put in place and has controlled for so many years, it is he threatening an AGM to overturn their decisions and it is he openly supporting Steven Woolfe – despite Woolfe’s criminal behaviour as exposed in earlier elections. Despite Woolfe’s claims to be a Barrister, which he is not!

UKIP leadership: Steven Woolfe excluded from race

Steven Woolfe
Image caption: Mr Woolfe said some in the party felt he was “not his own man”

UKIP leadership hopeful Steven Woolfe has been ruled “ineligible” to stand in the contest to replace Nigel Farage – after he submitted his papers late.

The party’s NEC said it had voted by a “clear majority” to exclude Mr Woolfe – previously seen as the frontrunner.

The MEP said he was “extremely disappointed” by the decision, and three NEC members have quit in protest.

Jonathan Arnott, Bill Etheridge, Diane James, Lisa Duffy, Phillip Broughton and Elizabeth Jones are on the ballot.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Woolfe said he believed the NEC had “their own reasons” for excluding him from the ballot, but implied it could have been linked to the fact he was committed to abolishing the executive.

Asked if he would consider taking legal action, or calling a vote of no confidence in the NEC, Mr Woolfe said it was a matter for the party membership but he thought the contest should continue without him.

Announcing their resignations from the NEC, Victoria Ayling, Raymond Finch and Michael McGough said in a joint statement that the party’s governing body “is no longer fit for purpose” and called for a vote of no confidence in the NEC.

Media captionUKIP MEP Jonathan Arnott says Steven Woolfe will still have a “huge role” to play in the party’s future.

They accused it of “deliberately obstructing” Mr Woolfe and some of its members of putting personal ambitions ahead of the interests of the party – which polled more than four million votes at the last general election and got 12% of the vote.

“Steven Woolfe is a popular candidate among UKIP’s members and should be permitted to represent those that wish to vote for him,” they wrote.

“To purposefully trawl for technicalities upon which to base a decision to deny his inclusion is not in the best interests of the membership and truly injurious to UKIP.”

‘Clear rules’

The winner of the leadership contest – sparked by Mr Farage’s decision to stand down after the UK voted to leave the EU – is scheduled to be announced on 15 September.

In a statement announcing the final line-up, the party said: “By a clear majority of NEC members Steven Woolfe MEP’s application was considered to be ineligible as a result of a late submission and as such he did not meet the eligibility criteria.”

Mr Woolfe, the party’s immigration spokesman, submitted his nomination papers 17 minutes late on Sunday, blaming the delay on technical issues with the registration site.

Image captionNigel Farage announced he was stepping down after the UK voted to leave the EU

He submitted his application at 11:35 BST – before the noon deadline – but it did not successfully go through until 12:17 BST.

He said he had been in contact with party officials prior to the deadline passing to alert them to the problems, and had sent pictures, upon request, to prove it.

The party’s chairman, Paul Oakden, said Mr Woolfe’s exclusion was “regrettable” but the rules for prospective candidates, as for all elections, were “very clear”.

He told BBC Radio 4’s World at One that the NEC was put in the position of having “to bend and flex the rules” to accommodate a single candidate and “I think they did not feel comfortable in doing that”.

‘Life or death’

Mr Woolfe said he was “extremely disappointed” not to be on the final ballot as he had wanted to “inject my ideas, plans and passion into the party”.

And he criticised the NEC as “not fit for purpose” and said its conduct during the leadership election had “confirmed many member’s fears that it is neither effective nor professional in the way it governs the party”.

Media captionUKIP’s chairman said it was important for candidates to hit application deadlines.
Media captionMichael McGough has resigned from the UKIP’s ruling body over the leadership vote

“They have failed to accept that there were serious issues with the application system despite providing evidence that attempts of submission were made before the deadline. The NEC deny this is the fault of the UKIP system.

“Furthermore, highly confidential information about me held in party documents has been leaked to the press and the NEC has not sought to investigate this gross breach of privacy,” he added.

‘Life and death’

Mr McGough – who has resigned from the NEC – said Mr Woolfe’s exclusion from the contest was “unfair” and called into the question the party’s future.

Unless the party elected a “competent leader who was comfortable with the media, it was finished”, he told World at One. “This is a fight for survival. It is life or death.”

BBC political correspondent Tom Bateman said the NEC’s decision “opens up a whole new schism in UKIP” and he understood that Mr Farage could call an emergency meeting of the party membership to put pressure on the body to reconsider.

Diane JamesImage copyrightPA
Image captionDiane James has confirmed she is standing after days of uncertainty

Mr Oakden, who only took over as party chairman this week, said the party was perfectly entitled to call an EGM if 25% of its branches backed the move but said talk of a potential split was over-exaggerated and the remaining contenders were a diverse and exciting group.

MEP Ms James – now regarded as the favourite in the contest – has launched her own campaign website while Mr Arnott, an MEP for the north east of England, has said he was won the backing of the party’s deputy leader Paul Nuttall.

Of the other candidates, Mr Etheridge is also a member of European Parliament while Lisa Duffy is a councillor in Cambridgeshire. Both Ms Jones and Mr Broughton have stood as candidates in recent parliamentary elections.

Ukip’s Steven Woolfe is being investigated for electoral fraud just days after he was expelled from the party’s leadership race.

Mr Woolfe, the party’s migration spokesman, is being investigated by Greater Manchester Police over claims he did not declare a conviction for drink driving when he stood for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner in 2012.

The force has received a complaint about Mr Woolfe’s 2002 conviction which would have barred him from standing for the role in 2012.

Mr Woolfe said he “forgot about the conviction” when he stood in the Greater Manchester PCC election in 2012.

Mr Woolfe had been tipped to become the frontrunner in Ukip’s leadership campaign after impressing since becoming an MEP for the North West in 2014 CLICK HERE

But the 48-year-old former lawyer missed the nomination deadline by 17 minutes.

He was barred from standing after he submitted his application to become a candidate after the official deadline and has faced claims that he had failed to keep up his membership.

Mr Woolfe said he “forgot about the conviction” when he stood in the Greater Manchester PCC election in 2012, in a possible breach of electoral law.

Supporters of Mr Woolfe, who stood for Parliament in Stockport last year but finished third, have reacted angrily.

@Arron_banks @Mr_Gossamer Looks like UKIP are going to lose a lot of supporters now. Time for a new party?

@Arron_banks genuinely upset that @UKIP have imploded on themselves just as REAL progress was being made and old reputations were going.

Mr Woolfe had indicated that he would focus Ukip on becoming a party for social mobility, in a direct targeting of Labour’s core voters, particularly in northern heartlands.

“The one thing I can say to the people of the North and the Midlands who voted Brexit and who are tired of the Labour Party leaving them behind, Ukip is now the party for you and your new home,” Woolfe told IBT.

“We did it for immigration, we did it for the referendum and now we’re going to do it for social mobility too.”

Ukip has been riven by in-fighting as rival factions battle to secure control of the party.

Nigel Farage has attacked NEC members as “among the lowest grade of people I have ever met” and has long been at odds with Douglas Carswell, the party’s only MP, and Neil Hamilton, its leader in the Welsh Assembly.

Former deputy chairwoman Suzanne Evans, who was suspended from the party earlier this year after repeated clashes with Mr Farage, said Mr Woolfe is “probably ineligible”.

Mr Farage, who announced he was quitting after the Leave victory in the EU referendum, said Ukip members should vote for the candidate who will best represent the party “on the big media stages” and around the country.

He urged his successor to “bypass” the NEC, claiming the governing body contains “total amateurs” who have acted as a “barrier to radical change and modernisation”.

Comment | Steven Woolfe on his Ukip leadership expulsion

“I am extremely disappointed by the UKIP NEC decision to exclude me from the party’s leadership election.

“Having been a committed member of UKIP, standing for the party in multiple elections, acting as a spokesman at the highest level, I wanted to take this opportunity to stand for Leader to inject my ideas, plans and passion into the party.

“Over the course of this leadership election, the NEC has proven it is not fit for purpose and it confirmed many member’s fears that it is neither effective nor professional in the way it governs the party.

“The NEC panel have even accepted that they were wrong to raise questions of my membership of the party, as I have been a full member since 2011. They did not identify my payments in the UKIP records until I showed them my own bank statements. After providing evidence of the payments and donations I have made to the party, they were satisfied this was not an issue.

“They have failed to accept that there were serious issues with the application system despite providing evidence that attempts of submission were made before the deadline. The NEC deny this is the fault of the UKIP system.

“Furthermore, highly confidential information about me held in party documents has been leaked to the press and the NEC has not sought to investigate this gross breach of privacy.

“The NEC’s treatment of Nathan Gill over the past two weeks has also been totally unacceptable.

“Nathan is a decent and honest man, who has been in the party longer than many NEC members. He, as the leader of UKIP in Wales, led the party to victories for seven Welsh assembly members in May. His dedication to the party knows no bounds. Wales voted to leave the EU and it deserves a Eurosceptic voice in Brussels to represent the people, as the renegotiation moves ahead.

“If I were on the ballot, I would have fought to reform the internal structure of UKIP including the NEC. UKIP must professionalise and it cannot do that with an unfit NEC.

“Over the course of the past two weeks, my office and I have received thousands of messages of support from members.

“To every single one of them and all of those who have helped to support my campaign, I say a huge thank you.

“Although I am out of the contest I wish the other candidates well and hope they can show UKIP has a positive, inclusive, patriotic vision for Britain.”

Do note that Jonathan Arnott has absolutely no experience of leadership having been a maths teacher in a tiny private school with, as I recall 140 pupils of all ages, even as an MEP he has been all but invisible and undeniably irrelevant.
Jones & Broughton are both also rqans having no profile beyond having stood in elections and failed utterly.
Duffy has doner the rounds in the party but has only been noticeable for her spectacular failure during the time she was in charge of UKip Yoof!
Etheridge is best known for his racist behaviour and utterances regarding Gololiwogs, which saw him thrown out of the Tory Party, and having separated from his disabled wife as soon as he had squirmed his way in as a UKip MEP.
Diane James lays claim to having 30 years experience in Health Care but may be confusing herself with an American born woman of the same name!
As for Woolfe’s clai9m to be a Barrister – he may well have trained as one but I can find no record of any of his cases and he is most deffinitly not on the official list, which is open to public scrutiny, his criminal convicton may have something to do with his absence in the public record! Something else he may well have forgotten! As I recall when first he came to prominence in UKip he was a failed Compliance Officer in a Financial Services organisation – failed in that he had lost his job!
Situation normal UKip are in an utterly unprofessional, corrupt and dishonest squabbling mess!

Nigel Farage faces investigation into ‘missing’ EU expenses! We can but hope that the Police will also look into his accounts as a result and may find it strange that in one year alone he claimed almost £1/4 Million was spent on sundry expenses in that same small office – I know Steve Harris is far from small but does he live on a diet of staples? OR did David Samuel-Camps spend it all on hairdressers 😉

Hi,
So UKIP want publicity well today they have front page coverage in The Times and on page 26.

Here is the story on the front page I’ll deal wioth the other story later!

Just a reminder that publicity of these facts now is not some conspiracy theorists wet dream, but the simple fact that the higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rse!

Farage faces investigation into ‘missing’ EU expenses

Nigel Farage faces an expenses investigation into almost £60,000 of “missing” European Union funds paid into his personal bank account.

The Ukip leader has received £15,500 a year from the EU since at least 2009 to pay for the upkeep of his constituency office, a small converted grain store near Bognor Regis, according to transparency reports filed on the party’s website.

However, the grain store was given rent-free to Mr Farage by Ukip supporters 15 years ago.

Utilities and other non-rental costs amount to no more than £3,000 a year, according to the former office manager, leaving about £12,000 a year unexplained.

The Ukip leader, who has made strides in the polls after condemning the former culture secretary Maria Miller’s expenses abuse last week, confirmed that he received his office rent free but insisted that he legitimately spent more than £1,000 a month to run the 620 sq ft property.

A former senior Ukip official has filed a formal complaint about Mr Farage to the EU anti-fraud office OLAF.

The complainant wishes to remain anonymous because of “physical threats” allegedly made by other Ukip officials against members who raised questions about the party’s finances.

Ukip MEPs have only filed transparency reports since July 2009, meaning that it is possible Mr Farage spent more than £200,000 of EU funds on “office management and running” costs on his office since his election in 1999. Under EU and Ukip guidelines, such spending is limited to rent, water, electricity, heating, insurance and business rates.

Stationery, office equipment, staff and communications come under separate spending categories. Like all MEPs, Mr Farage receives a general expenditure allowance (GEA) of about £3,800 a month to rent and run an office in his home country.

No MEP is required to file receipts to show how this money is spent, however, opening the system up to potential abuse. “You shove it down your trousers if you want to,” Mike Nattrass, a former Ukip MEP, said. “The EU will never ask them to justify it.

That’s the trouble with it. It goes into your bank account whether you want it or not.” Mr Farage accepted that MEPs “don’t need any receipts or any justification” to receive EU allowances.

He said that he used his GEA to run the grain store as well as a smaller office located at his home.

“I don’t pay rent on the office but I obviously pay for everything else,” he said.

“Whether it’s the burglar alarm or electricity.” Mr Farage disputed a statement by David Samuel-Camps, the grain store’s office manager in 2010, who said that running costs amounted to only £3,000 a year. “About £1,000 a month is roughly what it is,” the Ukip leader said.

“Exceptionally I put more money in as and when it’s needed.” Mr Farage also revealed that he used a proportion of his GEA to pay more than £1,000 a month towards a controversial second EU pension scheme of which he was a member between 1999 and 2009. Under the generous scheme, which was criticised by many MEPs at the time, members paid in £1,052 from their own money every month which was supplemented by a generous taxpayer-funded payment of £2,104.

Like other MEPs, Mr Farage’s contribution to the pension was deducted from his GEA before the rest was deposited into his bank account.

The system relied on MEPs being honest enough to fund the shortfall in GEA out of their own cash. Mr Farage insists he did so.

Last year the Ukip leader was embarrassed after it was revealed he had set up the Farage Family Educational Trust on the Isle of Man in order to mitigate tax, although he said that he did not personally benefit.

Mr Farage was last night forced to deny claims made by former staff members that he transferred European funds into other offshore bank accounts he controlled which were located in the Cayman Islands and the Isle of Man.

Mr Farage said that any inquiries into such matters were “completely, wholly unacceptable” and added that he would not answer “any more questions of that nature”. An EU spokeswoman confirmed: “It is on the MEP’s honour that the assumption is made that the money is spent properly.” A Ukip spokesman said: “Nigel Farage is confident that he has abided by European parliamentary rules at all times when spending allowances.”

This inquiry may well show Nigel Farage’s lies regarding his off shore account in the tax haven of The Isle of Man about which he lied and claimed he did not use – I feel sure few readers will consider a deposit of £1/4 Million to Farage Family Educational Trust to be so inconsequential that it doesn’t count as a deposit of any consequence!

Interestingly on a quick check the other day I note that it seems that having publicised the details of Farage Family Educational Trust and large deposits into it by Nigel Farage to reduce his tax liabilities on his over generous income the account seems to be further obfuscated and made less traceable!
Nigel Farage’s EU bank account to avoid British tax, where as an MEP he can avoid paying into British taxation and pays a reduced rate as an MEP are still traceable but the account(s) in The Cayman Islands are beyond my ability to trace them but I’m sure Steven Woolfe would be able to help t6he police investigate those, as perhaps could Dr. Dick Horsnell could help re IoM accounts!

Hi,
I note with interest from following up details on the UKIP members incestuous little forum:

UKIP Machine Floundering Over MEP’s Secret Finance Company

11:19am Tue October 23rd

The communications department of the European Parliament’s Freedom and Democracy grouping was on the phone to Scrapbook this morning, adamant that damaging revelations regarding one of their MEPs were false.

Yesterday evening, we revealed that UKIP’s Godfrey Bloom had been a member of the influential Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) since 2009, but had failed to declare an interest in a secret financial investments company.

But the statement given to us from controversial MEP was as follows:

“I resigned all directorships on election to the European Parliament in 2004 and unwound all my business interests.”

As we observed yesterday, Bloom did indeed resign his directorship of TBO Investments in 2004. But official documents obtained by Scrapbook (view in full here) clearly show that Bloomholds no less than 106,960 shares in TBO Investments Ltd, giving him a controlling stake in the company.

As a member of ECON, Bloom has been seeking to exert influence over European economic and monetary policy  – but hiding his controlling stake in a finance firm from both EU officials and his electors.

MEP Hides Secret Finance Firm Whilst Sitting On EUro Finance Committee

A UKIP MEP is sitting on the European Parliament’s top finance committee without declaring a potentially conflicting interest in a secret companyPolitical Scrapbook can reveal. UKIP’s Godfrey Bloom, a member the influential Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs(ECON), has withheld details of his investments advisory firm from EU officials.

European Parliament regulations state that:

“any financial interest that may cause a conflict of interests will … have to be disclosed”.

But Bloom’s ECON responsibilities could have a direct impact on his secret business: TBO Investments, of which Bloom is the majority shareholderoffers advice on “tax planning”whilst ECON describes its responsibilities as including, errrr, “taxation and competition policies”.

Perpetually thirsty Bloom, who Scrapbook previously exposed for addressing the parliament having consumed an apparently incapacitating cocktail of drink and drugs, served as director and senior manager of TBO until 2004, but has since remained the majority shareholder in the company.

The murky revelations won’t help his bid to become Humberside’s first ever police and crime commissioner.

It does seem that in trying to obtain the post of Police Crime Commissioner on a salary approaching £100K Godfrey Bloom may well be an expert in Commissioning Crime – be that absconding from a bordello without paying the young woman who had pandered to his ‘peccadillos’, or copulating with a black prostitute on the bonnet of a car in a public highway, or perhaps being banned from a chain of hotels for urinating in the flowerpots.

One must admit he has a wide experience of Crime Commissioning regardless of his other drunken shenanigans and his apparent financial lack of integrity all of which have demeaned his Country though with its present team associations with racists, bigots, anti homosexuals, advocates of political violence and extremist views that run to giving moral comfort to Anders Breivik it would be hard to claim even Godfrey Bloom would have much success in demeaning Farage’s party!

It would seem Bloom is not alone in his extremism as I understand another contestant for this idiotic job and its inflated salary is the current leader of The EDL with which UKIP has some ties (viz: Kim Gandy & Gerard Batten) he is at the moment in prison due for release 07-Jan-2013 and then of course there is John Presscot!!!

I wonder if by some freak contingency Godfrey Bloom were to be elected and could sober up long enough to be wrenched from the arms of some whore whether he would then seek to employ his family, his wife’s business partners as with Jane Collins and rent out his own office space to his new employers (as it seems he does in exploitation of the public purse as an MEP!)

In another region UKIP is fielding the insensitive golliwog brandishing oaf Bill Etheridge , dumped by The Tories for his childish protest at Political Correcness! – It seems I am not alone in holding this new tier of useless political self servers in some contempt as UKIP seems to be deliberately fielding a string of joke candidates

OR

OR

– however from past experience I fear they may not have understood the joke!

Based on various experiences and having lived in the very center of a British town for some 30 years the last thing the British police need is a bunch of low grades, as all too many of them are plebs and bullies of little ability – just like UKIP they are desperately in need of leadership of quality and a great deal more gravitas – The candidates UKIP is putting forward seem to be utterly without merit and clearly without leadership skills or Officer Qualities!

Greg_L-W.

Added 16:30hrs.
I note the ridiculous rebuttal/appologia published by the unsavoury, dishonest and corrupt Gawain Towler which is so staggeringly inept as to make the situation worse, if that were possible.

Why would ANY organisation hire such a long string of implausible and seriously disturbed individuals as press spokesmen or is it that no one else would wish to be associated with providing the lies behind which UKIP shelters!
Adrian Lithgo

Sobey Neville
Annabelle Fuller
Mark Croucher
Gawain Towler

Hardly a team anyone of ANY sense or integrity would wish to associate with let alone have as spokesmen!

Personally I do not find a single one of them to be trustworthy, reliable or even plausible in their dishonest and corrupt practices. A view I KNOW to be shared with many in the media!

TO LEAVE THE EU

What is the Exit and Survival Plan for these United Kingdoms to maximise on the many benefits when we Leave-The-EU. It is the DUTY of our Politicians and Snivil Cervants to ensure the continuity, liberty and right to self determination of our peoples – they have a DUTY to protect against crime and secure both our food and our borders.

They also have a duty to put in place contingency plans for the collapse of The EUro & The EU or the wishes of the peoples of Britain to Leave-The-EU.

NONE of these DUTIES has a single British politician upheld for over 40 years. They have drawn their incomes fraudulently and dishonesty.

Politicians are failing to tell the truth, but so are almost all wanabe Politicians, the Main Stream Media and Snivil Cervants.

The fact is that even if EVERY British MEP wanted change in The EU it would achieve NOTHING, at very best if they ALL agreed they would then  still have less than a 10% say in the governance of Britain by The EU.

Every single British Politician, of EVERY Party, elected since before we joined the EUropean Common Market, has promised to change The EU’s CAP – In 40 Years they have achieved absolutely NOTHING towards that unanimous promise!

To try to put a value on OUR Freedom is as futile as floccipaucinihilipilification and as odious as the metissage of our societies, as we rummage in the ashes of our ancestors dreams, sacrifices and achievements, the flotsam of our hopes and the jetsam of our lives, consider the Country and Anglosphere which we thus leave our children and the future, with shame!

PLEASE POST THIS TAG AS FOLLOWS: ON YOUR eMAILS & BLOGS, FORUM POSTINGS & MAILINGS – GET THE MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE IT IS OUR BEST HOPE AS WHOEVER IS APPOINTED WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE AS PROVED!

I SUGGEST – since there is clearly no political party of repute, advocating or campaigning to Leave-The-EU for these United Kingdoms and restoration of our independent sovereign, democracy, with Justice & the right to self determination in a free country & minded that membership of The EU is sucking out the life blood and identity of our Country in a counter patriotic manner and at a cost in hard cash of some £53 Million a day we must consider:

Denying the self seeking & meaningless wanabe MEPs and the no longer relevant MPs the Mythical Mandate for which they clamour.

Diktat is imposed from The EU but Law should be made at Westminster, for our Country & our Peoples, by the peoples of our Country.

It is time that the entire mechanism of governance in these United Kingdoms, which has so clearly failed our Country and our peoples, was radically overhauled and updated to democratic status – failure to change will mean when we Leave-The-EU and/or it finally collapses, as it surely will, we will be no better off as the self same self styled, self enriching clique will be all too willing to betray us as they have done relative to The EU and its fore runners.

To achieve change support rational planning as with The Harrogate Agenda and similar thinking of gravitas.

Demand a Royal Commission on the cost benefits of leaving The EU and of remaining its vassals with a clear ‘Exit & Survival Strategy‘ for implementation OR responsible contingency planning dependent on THEN holding a Referendum on IN or OUT to Let-The-People-Decide!

UKIP Catastrophic Local Election Results Explained!

This is the ‘text’ of the Full Report to UKIP NEC regarding the debacle and unprofessional shambles that is UKIP leadership’s abitity to run or manage virtually anything!

UKIP under its present leadership & structure is clearly unfit for purpose & corrupted!

.

~~~~~~~~~~#########~~~~~~~~~~
.
Hi,
the following information which exposes the rats nest that is UKIP leadership, with its utter incompetence, unprofessional behaviour, internal squabbling, back stabbing and the bungling stupidity of its crass salaried & unsalaried staff.
It is abundantly clear that UKIP’s utter incompetence makes them, on virtually every count, unfit for ANY responsible office – It is so sad to see the Party which so many of us have supported turned into a self serving scam in total betrayal of the EUroSceptic cause.
The parasites and liars like Mick McGough (and many more) defaming and lying to protect their personal interests – endless attacks based on their repetition of lies to mislead and beguile the gullible to keep their own positions.
Their own electoral returning officer’s detailed report on the selection and election process in The EUro elections showed current NEC members, like Mick McGough, to be willing to lie and cheat their associates and so called friends for their own personal gain and the report exposed so very much more, as presented to UKIP NEC but denied by the liars on the NEC for their own self preservation.
No doubt in the realisation that Junius & I had a copy of the latest report to The NEC – McGough & other low lifes in UKIP leadership claque have been desperately dissembling and openly telling lies about myself, Junius, UKFirstParty and various other UKIP supporters who have been driven out of the party by its corruption and incompetence – its betrayal of the very people who put these scum in office!
The detailed 19 page report published below was supplied to me as a .pdf by ‘e’Mail from a reliable source working as staff for UKIP in the EU, known to me. We have deliberately left it for a few days to permit wider circulation so that it could not be so readily traced to our sources and also so that more UKIP members would see it and it would be harder for UKIP’s corrupt leadership to scurry around and try to hide copies and deny the truth – as they have done in the past!
UKIP’s usual attempts to cover-up all too readily involve attacking the messenger and using usefull idiots and ambitious sock puppets to lie and defame the messenger.
A measure of the stupidity of UKIP is that in repeatedly telling lies they hugely damage themselves and as they have failed to find and identify a single solitary dishonest entry on the whole of my web site, blogs or various other postings they are shown for the low lifes and liars they clearly comprise.
Similarly with their duplicitous attacks on those who publish the Junius blog.
May I also remind them whatever character they invent for me does absolutely nothing to damage the facts conveyed or the details provided – There being not a single solitary ethical member of UKIP leadership or staff clearly as I would not cross the road to have a drink with such low lifes I clearly couldn’t care less what tyhey invent about me as they have proved time and again they are untrustworthy and self serving.
I have been, as yet, unable to load the material as a .pdf with its graphs and tables and in the interim am posting this document as a text document at the same time as Junius has agreed to publish the document.
I regret the layout is at times hard to follow but we are seeking a way to present the document with its original layout.
Absolutely no material has been deliberately added or removed – other than in electronic conversion from .pdf to text and uploading to this web site and in Junius’ case to Google’s Blogger or CLEARLY annotated as additional.
It is important to note that although this shows the total number of second preference votes only 82,880
were valid for BJ and 102,355 were valid for KL this is because some people were either giving 1st and 2nd to
the same candidate or putting BJ first and KL second (and vice versa).
2) Key dates and timings
Summer 2010
Even before I had been selected as the UKIP Mayoral Candidate I had spent some time courting
specific interest groups, taxis and various groups affected by the low emission zones. This has
resulted in an article in the Daily Express and a monthly column in The Badge newspaper (a Taxi
publication). In addition to these I also had mentions in a number of trade press including the Ice
cream alliance and those covering the recovery industry.
September 2010
First attempt to get on the NEC to discuss the London elections.
February 2011
Submitted strategy to NEC (no action taken). It was stressed however that the Party would have
overall control rather than London region to avoid similar problems that had occurred in Wales.
Spring 2011
I attempted to start the candidate selection process – this was delayed to concentrate on the Mayor
selection.
June 2011
Steve Crowther attended the LRC meeting to oversee and direct preparations for the campaign. The
selection of candidates was discussed. As can be seen from this extract of the LRC minutes for
Thursday 16th June 2011 (point 4.4) the manifesto was always going to be a collusion of ideas from
all the Mayoral candidates and not as SC suggested in his report to the NEC, which implied that the
Manifesto was the sole responsibility of the incoming Mayoral candidate.
“Messaging. It proved extremely difficult to create the London manifesto, which should
have been effectively in place with the incoming Mayoral candidate”
July 2011
Steve Crowther once again attended the LRC and presented his ‘Proposed Plan for the London
Elections 2012’. My suggestion of selecting the Assembly candidates first to give them time to
embed themselves was overridden in favour of selecting the Mayoral candidate first using a public
vote; about which there was much scepticism amongst the LRC. The reluctance of the LRC was
overcome when it was explained that the proposed plan would enable UKIP to ‘harvest’ the details
of all those who participate in the process. SC appointed Lisa Duffy to oversee the campaign.
The main areas of policy were discussed; Transport and Crime being the two areas for which the Mayor has control.
Confidential
Page 4 of 19
August 2011
Mayoral candidate selected. In the end this was decided on the member’s ballot alone because the
online vote was subject to a massive fraud and in the end failed to harvest any details.
October 2011
There was an altercation between Nigel Farage and Steven Woolfe where Nigel insisted that he
wanted Steven to be top of the list in London. Nigel was heard to say that he controlled the NEC
and if he didn’t do what Nigel wanted he would not be able to stand as an MEP elsewhere.
November 2011
The first ballot to select the Assembly candidates. Steve Crowther, Lisa Duffy and Peter Reeve
attend LRC meeting. The process for selecting the list candidates is presented by SC. LRC are very
concerned about the NEC altering the running order after the members have voted. SC said this was
to ensure the list was ‘balanced’ which raised further concerns he stressed however that changes
would only be made in extreme circumstances.
December 2011
The second ballot to select the Assembly candidates
January 2012
At the end of the month the NEC decided the order of the candidates on the list.
February 2012
The super-constituency candidates were appointed.
March 2012
Lisa Duffy was removed from the campaign (at the beginning of March).
Duncan Barkes leaves for pastures new (at end of March).
Confidential
Page 5 of 19
Despite my best efforts to start planning for these elections to allow time for the candidates to embed
themselves into their constituencies and become aware of the local issues, the candidates were not finally
in place until three months before polling day.
NB: These Elections are at fixed intervals – the next one is Thursday 5th May 2016.
3) The Campaign
The early start of the campaign went well with Lisa, Duncan, Damian and I working on the messaging and a
media strategy. This had some degree of success with several hits in the media the best being on 8th March
when I was quoted in the Express, Star, Mirror and Metro (in their printed versions) and in the Mail,
Telegraph and London Loves Business online.
However there was no effective campaign from the point that Lisa was removed and there was no
effective media campaign from the point at which Duncan moved on. What is worse, is from the point that
Lisa was removed Janice Small failed to keep the agent (Peter Staveley) informed of expenditure: at the
very least this is wilfully negligent if not criminally negligent.
Even now Janice has failed to supply a proper record of what was spent and how it is to be allocated.
Similarly, events were missed from the campaign schedule despite advised well in advance.
Despite Havering being the best area for UKIP in London it was not included in Nigel’s campaign schedule
even though he did come for Question Time, which was broadcast from Havering the week before polling.
Confidential
Page 6 of 19
This is one of two or more emails giving details of events in Havering
4) Fresh Choice for London
As Part of the messaging it had been decided to stress that UKIP was
a “fresh” alternative because Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems
were putting up the same candidates as in 2008.
When the newspaper was produced it was done so believing that this
would be the principle campaign literature, and that;
“UKIP A Fresh Choice” should be registered as a Party description.
However after Lisa was replaced I was removed from any of the
decision making process.
There is a huge and fundamental difference between London the capital of the UK and London Region
which is not understood by those outside of London.
Although I live in London region I in no way consider myself to be a “Londoner” and nor do most of the
people who live in the outer boroughs where most of our support comes from. In the end the decision to
register and use “Fresh Choice For London” was made by those who do not know or understand
London/London Region, in the mistaken belief that it would appear on the ballot paper along with the
Party name.
As can been seen by the email threads in Appendix 1 and 2 there was total lack of command and control
nobody seemed to know who was doing what everyone wanted to take the glory but nobody wanted to
take responsibility
5) Messaging/ PEB
From the outset Steve Crowther was put in
charge of overall messaging as detailed in the
report presented to the NEC November
2011.
Despite having the areas of responsibility
explained he was keen to include other
policies not under the direct control of the
Mayor i.e. 5% Vat on beer and Cider. Other
Confidential
Page 7 of 19
ideas were also included that were a distraction and difficult to defend (see
Appendix 3). Other suggested changes were simply ignored despite emails.
Similarly the Party Election Broadcast was poorly thought out. Attempts to
plan this last summer were ignored with the result that something had to be cobbled together at the last
minute (see Appendix 4).
6) Appointed Candidates
Having twice asked the members to vote on who they who like to see at the top of the Assembly List and
then ignored them had a devastating effect on the active London Membership. Much time was wasted
preventing members including Branch Officers resigning, when they should have been arranging stalls and
events in their areas. Similarly appointing S-C candidates had a similar effect.
It is clear that there was a determined attempt by the leadership to influence the NEC in deciding which
candidate was to be top of the list regardless of how the London members had voted. Unsubstantiated
comments were made with the clear intention of denigrating some whilst other comments were clearly
intended to promote others. Much was made of one candidate’s experience as a councillor (although not
relevant to the GLA). If the full facts had been known then I believe the outcome would have been very
different, there would have been a far greater motivation to get people elected, as it was senior Party
figures from around the country have stated that they believe that getting no one elected was preferable
to getting the wrong person elected.
Sorry – the last bit didn’t copy!
[Additional info – G.L-W.: More can be read of this regarding Steven Woolfe on this blog for Feb.2008 CLICK HERE]
Page 8 of 19
7) Wasted Resources
Although Peter Staveley had been appointed as the Agent and was therefore legally responsible for any
expenses incurred he was excluded, as was I, from any decision on how and where the money was spent.
We have spent £6000 on surveys and polling data, much of which proved to be whole inaccurate.
Similarly there was a lot of wasted effort promoting Super-Constituency candidates when the effort should
have been spent on promoting the London-wide list, the only place we were likely to win any prizes.
Although we saved double the number of deposits this time around we failed to get any one elected from
the List.
The advans were not deployed to the right areas and contained the wrong messages. The accompanying
music “Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner” is more likely to have put voters off in our strongest areas as
they do not associate themselves as being Londoners.
The bus spent too much time in Westminster and central London and not in the outer boroughs where we
get our best votes.
8) Conclusion: Too Little Too Late
• Appointing candidates led to a disenfranchised membership
• The candidates were selected too late – to be effective they should have been in place at least a
year before the election to raise their profile.
• The people with local knowledge were ignored. Most disastrously with the result that UKIP did not
appear on the ballot paper.
• No effective campaign (after the beginning of March)
• No media strategy (after the end of March)
• Resources were poorly allocated
This campaign lacked any true chain of command, and people were given roles and responsibilities
beyond their capabilities. There was no check on spending or proper recording of what had been
spent. Even now Peter Staveley (the agent) is still being sent invoices for things he knew nothing
about (see Appendix 5).
Far from becoming a truly professional organisation we are less competent than ever making the
most basic of errors. Rather than leaving those who know London to run the campaign, it was run by
an uninformed committee (of non-Londoners) with the result that we ended up with a camel rather
than a horse.
The effects of the gerrymandering and leadership interference in this campaign will have long lasting
ramifications for the party as a whole. This, coupled with the recent statement by the current Leader
that he wants to stand joint Tory UKIP candidates has taken away all and any incentive for
candidates to ‘work’ a constituency in the years before an election as they run the risk of either being
replaced or asked to stand down.
What is the party description? If I know it now then I can put it on all the forms.
10 to 20 days from today means that some candidates will potentially be submitting a nomination form with the
‘wrong’ description. If it does not make it onto the Elcom website by 20th March is there any letter of comfort we could
have from Elcom?
What is the party emblem we are going to use?
I can not confirm if the changes descriptors will be in place by 20th March as they have to go through ElCom vetting and
may not be approved. Janice may want to revert to the standard descriptors in order to add some clarity for form
filling.
Dear Steve
Thanks for that. I fully agree we cannot afford any slip-ups or legal anomalies.
The main thing that is holding me back at the moment is that Pete mentioned that he had applied to Elcom for the
authorisation for the new party description. However, he failed to state the exact wording that he (i.e. what the NEC
agreed) was applying for. Once I have that then I can ask the boroughs to check the nomination forms (subject to Elcom
agreeing) and then be one step further to meeting the 20th March deadline for nominations.
I have got back 4 Mayoral nomination forms and I will start checking them tomorrow and then, as a belt and braces, ask
the relevant boroughs to check them as well so that when we put in the Mayoral nomination that will get through
without any problems.
I do not wish to go too much into the Winston issue again but it is very disconcerting when Marianne mentions to the
Croydon AGM that Winston is going to have a campaign office and then to see a leaflet produced without any
consultation from myself and also the wrong imprint. Let’s be clear I will give the full and immediate authorisation for
any campaign expenditure if I have strong independent evidence that it has been agreed by at least Janice and David
(and preferably Steven and Lawrence as well). So I promise that I will not be a bar on expenditure. However, I do not
expect to have to be Sherlock Holmes in order to find out about what candidates have apparently spent without
consulting me.
Similarly we need full records for any donations over £500 (or £50 if Winston has any donations).
Just so that you know unlike all other GLA Constituency Candidates I intend to deliver the nomination for Croydon and
Sutton personally. To a certain extent it is very convenient for me. However, from my previous experience with
Winston I feel that there is a risk that he would ‘accidentally’ lose the agent’s appointment form and possibly substitute
Marianne. Certainly if I were Winston or Marianne that is what I would try to do in order to get rid of Peter Staveley’s
involvement.
I would request that the party, and Pete Reeve as the NO ensures, that only Lawrence’s DNO certificate is used to
accompany Winston’s nomination. If he persuades another DNO to sign for him then we will be in chaos since he would
have an ‘independent’ UKIP nomination.
Obviously I am liaising with Lawrence on a regular basis on obtaining Lawrence’s signatures and his DNO form.
The agreed slogan was ‘Fresh Choice for London’. I don’t think any DNO certificates are still valid; they all lapsed at the
end of 2011. Only Pete can create new ones. I am copying him on this for clarity.
I understand your approach and entirely endorse it.
Just to be clear could you please confirm that the words UK I P do not appear in the party description? So in effect we
are relying on the emblem to convey the UKIP brand. Please note that “UK I P Fresh Choice for London” is not
admissible as that is seven words.
Thanks for the DNO clarification. Pete has already issued Lawrence with a DNO certificate for London and I have a copy
of that. So that side of things are sorted.
Hi Steve / Peter
I am not sure what I am being asked to clarify.
The Descriptor that the London team have asked to have registered is
“A Fresh Choice for London”
This has not yet been approved and when it is, it is for the campaign team in London to decide if they want to use it or
not. I have just requested the registration that the London team have asked for.
The party name will still be on the ballot paper and also appears in the logo. The bit that will change is the description
beneath the logo if that is what is requested on the nomination papers.
It is correct that UKIP Fresh choice for London would not be acceptable but no one has asked us to try to register it???
Hope this helps?
Also I wish to do informal checks with the boroughs. So it would be helpful if I could have something from you to say
Subject: Branding on ballot papers clarification
Hi all
Just to confirm what was agreed today following the discussions regarding the ballot paper wording.
The NEC had apparently agreed a ‘Fresh Choice for London’ with the UKIP logo appearing on the left of the paper.
David Coburn raised concerns over this and thought it would be better having the UKIP branding and wording clearly
spelt out.
However, as 13 nomination papers had been returned and approved it was agreed that this would not be possible.
After speaking to Lisa, Pete Reeve, David and Lawrence we agreed that the Fresh Choice would remain but on the ‘List’
ballot papers it would revert to UKIP logo and name. Peter and Lawrence are meeting the various officials to sign this
off tomorrow.
For the Mayoral candidate and the GLA Constituency candidates the UKIP emblem with the party description “Fresh
Choice for London” will be shown. For the GLA List Candidate the UKIP emblem and the party description “UK
Independence Party” will be shown. This was the decision of the NEC, the party’s Nominating Officer and the Party
Chairman. I checked before putting it on the nomination papers.
I don’t want to be pedantic, but the NEC only approved the phrase ” a Fresh Choice For London” could be included in
the Parties list of approved
ELCOM descriptors. As advised they should by the Parties Nominating Officer who had stated it was a request from the
London Campaign Team constituted at that time.
The NEC also approved that it was the London Campaign Team, as constituted at the time, choice whether to use it in
this election, how to use it best, whether it could be used under the rules of the London election. It was nit the decision
of the NEC to use the UKIP logo on the right of the ballet paper and descriptor under the name without the UKIP name.
Obviously I have not seen the minutes of the NEC and the public summary is not clear enough to determine what was
agreed (and in any case arrived too late to be of effect in this case).
However, on 11/3 at 21:58 I asked Steve Crowther what party description had been agreed by the NEC to be used. The
reply came back on 11/3 22:59 that “the agreed slogan was ‘Fresh Choice for London’.”
I fully accept that the NEC might not have agreed to use the party description ‘Fresh Choice for London’ but that is not
how it was communicated to me by the Chairman. I was also communicating with the Nominating Officer and his view
of the NEC decision was the same. Therefore, I stand by what I said on 18 Apr 2012, at 23:11 (below).
By the way on the ballot paper UKIP does not have a logo, it is the party emblem.
The implication is clear that Peter believes he was told by SC and PR that the NEC decided to use the phrase in the
London campaign. As all three of us were on the committee that day and voted for the motion that would suggest we
part of the process that made the decision to use the descriptor on the ballot paper.
I know my recollection of events but is it your combined understanding that NEC decided to use it on the Ballot Paper
As I said, I am not allowed to see what the NEC said and, obviously, I was not at the NEC meeting. So my view of life has
to be how the NEC’s decisions were portrayed to me by the Steve Crowther and Pete Reeve. The “decision” was that
the party description for all of the London Election was “Fresh Choice for London”. Unfortunately they implied that it
was the NEC decision.
CONFIDENTIAL.
The NEC approved the use of this ludicrous phrase with other things like “…and residents” etc. at the
behest of Pete Reeves. The general understanding was that they were to be used in conjunction with “UKIP” but not
EXCLUDING. “UKIP” no one is that daft !!! Pete Reeves seems to have misunderstood what could be put on the ballot
paper and did not check it properly. When I went through my nomination papers in detail with Bexley when I was
putting them in the returning officer pointed out how it would appear and that UKIP would not be included in the
descriptor.. I called Pete Reeves on my mobile in front of the returning officer and Pete told me that was nonsense. I
passed the phone to the returning officer who confirmed what I had said. Pete then said something like “Woops!”
and giggled nervously. He had obviously misunderstood the regulations. I phoned Stavely who confirmed his
instructions. As a matter of fact he had questioned both Messrs Crowther and Reeve twice by email and Reeve had
confirmed the descriptor. So unusually for UKip Stavely actually obeyed orders. It was too late to change the
descriptor for the superconstituences as most had gone in and there was insufficient time to change the rest. After
frantic calls between myself, Reeves, Crowther and Nigel it was decided to carry on with the rest of the supers as
they were for the sake of consistency and I immediately ordered Messrs Stavely and Webb to drop everything and re
do the papers for the list and replace the descriptor with “UK Indepedence Party” If I hadn’t discovered this nonsense
we would have had “a fresh start for London” on the list too !!! I further suggested we should market the “fresh start
for London” as a cunning plan by our press and marketing wonks. Funnily enough they belived it as no one could be
that stupid. YOU COULDN’T MAKE IT UP !!! Yours aye David CONFIDENTlAL
Dear All
We need an eye-catching idea on crime. Paddick is trusted to look after it, just because he’s a copper, but his policy is
incoherent EXCEPT for one thing, which he’s nicked from us – neighbourhood watch patrols (like Pete’s Police in
Ramsey) “armed with torches and fluorescent jackets”.
How about: some revision of Police procedure in London that enables more citizen action, eg bringing back Citizen’s
Arrests. These (a long cherished imaginary ‘right’ of the freeborn Englishman) could trump Paddick’s hi-vis militia. I
don’t think he’d be able psychologically to match it.
We say that the Met Police will actively support and promote Citizens’ Arrests, through a well-publicised code of
practice and set of rules, plus active neighbourhood liaison – rather than, as they tend to do now, arresting the citizen
and charging them with assault/false imprisonment to get their numbers up.
As long as our plan is thought-through and coherent, it could look good to the Londoner who’s concerned about crime
and thinks the police don’t do squat about it except arrest innocent householders trying to protect their property.
Downsides? Okay, one or two, but we’ll deal with them when we’re in City Hall.
Whaddya think?
Dear Lawrence
Why would you want to avoid the ‘talking heads’? The ‘talking heads’ are the candidates we want them to vote for. You
are the star of this show. People mostly don’t watch PEBs if they can avoid them, especially if they’re made of
‘graphics’. If they are being spoken to by a nice bloke who seems to be making sense and is saying something
interesting, we have some chance to taking them with us.
We’re following a deliberate strategy here – talk about a very big and controversial issue (which hopefully will act as a
multiplier by getting us talked about in the media), but in a very personable, human, ordinary-folk-like-us way (which
hopefully will counteract any negative perceptions and win us support).
If we want people to engage with this, we need to do that: engage with them, person to person. If we want them to
take on board our message, we have to put it in such a way that they can feel reassured that we are nice, trustworthy,
next-door-neighbour people giving it to them – not some political machine.
And we’re asking them to vote for you. To get to the end of the film and go: I’m going to vote for them, they seem
alright and they make a lot of sense. This whole script is about playing to your strengths.
Firstly, why did you not tell me about the invoice at the time?
Secondly, why did you not ask me to authorise the expenditure as required by legislation? The situation of
unauthorised expenditure ‘appearing’ has arisen many times both during and after the election in spite of me
reminding you several times that ALL campaign expenditure needs to be authorised by the agent.
Thirdly, why did you state that I have received all the information when that was obviously not true? You, presumably,
kept detailed expenditure records and compared them with the information I supplied you. Obviously it is was true
then I presume that you will be challenging the invoice.
Fourthly, why was the media company having to Google information? They should have been given detailed
information as to where the invoice was to be sent and to whom the invoice was to be made out to.
Fifthly, as a matter of interest, who authorised that expenditure? Was it you, Annabelle or someone else? If it was not
you then why did that people not have the courtesy to tell me about it? I made strong efforts to respond to emails and
telephone calls promptly, so they could not claim that I was impossible to contact.
In any case since I received the invoice today it is now too late. I was required to have received all the invoices by last
Thursday. Now that all those invoices have been paid I have sent off the election returns and Helen has certified them
as being correct. So they cannot be changed.
Therefore, the invoice is not a campaign expense and nothing to do with me. I suggest that you direct the invoice to
head office for them to pay. Please let me know to whom, if anyone, I should send the invoice to?
Ex-councillor fails to return laptop and £200
Feb 21 2008 by Owen R Hughes, North Wales Weekly News
A SACKED councillor who claimed thousands of pounds in allowances despite not attending a meeting for six months has still not returned his laptop to the council.
Tory Steven Woolfe, 39, was kicked off Conwy County Council in September 2007 after failing to attend a single meeting since March. He had claimed around £20,000 in allowances over 18 months after winning a by-election in Colwyn Bay’s Rhiw ward in March 2006.
Now the council has revealed that his laptop, which are presented to all members, remains outstanding, along with £200 he owes the council.
Conwy County Council told the Weekly News that arrangements had been made for the return of the Hi-Grade Notino AS1400 laptop, but then admitted it had no contact number for the ex-councillor, who is thought to have left the area.
LibDem Cllr Trevor Stott, who was elected to replace Mr Woolfe last November, said: “People are concerned about whether the money paid to Mr Woolfe has been repaid and also whether council property has been returned.
“It was tax payers’ money he was paid and they want to know if he has paid any back. I would be interested to know if he will return the laptop as well.”
The Weekly News was told the allowance paid to Mr Woolfe while he was a councillor could not be claimed back and that he had made no voluntary repayments.
But a spokesman added: “Arrangements have been made for the return of a laptop and we are in the process of recovering a small amount, less than £200, that is due to the authority.”
Plaid Cllr Phil Edwards said: “The council should be taking all steps necessary to recover a laptop from any councillor who is no longer a member.
“These are expensive pieces of equipment and even more costly than a standard laptop due to the fact they have additional security software installed. If he still has a laptop it means someone else on the council is missing out.
“I also believe Mr Woolfe should pay back the allowance he claimed after March 2007 when he clearly decided he would no longer attend meetings. If he will not pay back that money then the Conservative party should make up the shortfall.”
Manchester-born Mr Woolfe pledged to help transform the Bay when elected in 2006, claiming the town was perceived as dirty and unsafe. He was made a member of the council’s audit committee as well as the environmental and community wellbeing scrutiny committees.
But between March 23 and September 23 2007 he failed to attend a single meeting, which resulted in him automatically forfeiting the seat.
Cllr Keith Toy, leader of the local Conservatives, said the Woolfe affair was a “sad history” and that council procedures needed to be tightened to ensure it would never happen again.
“The party tried to take action at the time, but the real fault lies in a system which says councillors only need to attend two meetings over a six month period to receive their allowance,” he said. “I’d much prefer we go back to the system where members are given an allowance based on the hours and work they put in.”
A council spokesman confirmed the laptop had been purchased in 2002, and the warranty expired in 2005: “It will cost us money to decommission it but it’s council property, therefore we require that it is returned,” she said.
