UKIP’s MEP Gerard Batten Exposed as The Odious & Corrupt Extremist He Is by The Guardian 4 years after this blog published the facts – for more details regarding Gerard Batten, when you have read this post below, CLICK HERE.!!

Hi,

it is good to see the media slowly waking from its torpor and publishing facts that were published on this blog in November 2009 and which Gerard Batten distorted and lied about to the police, together with other material he sought to suppress and also to misrepresent in an attempt to dupe the Metropolitan Police into bringing a prosecution against me for, in order to silence the supply of facts regarding him and also about UKIP.

Fortunately the police saw through Gerard Batten’s dishonesty and took no further action.

It is largely due to the fact that Gerard Batten was happy to tell lies and bear false witness against me to protect himself that leads me to believe that he did likewise regarding Jasna Badzak and may well have lied to both the police and the Courts to silence her revelations about his racism and criminality – perhaps you should read the Court transcripts and decide for yourself and note the length of the show trial and the bizarre comments of the Judge and the obvious lack of documentary evidence! It is also worth noting how long the case was regarding the claimed simple error of overpayment of salary!

I tend to find the claimed guilt of Jasna Badzak as more a reflection of the dishonesty and odious nature of Gerard Batten than ever it exposed Jasna Badzak, clearly an incensed employee who turned whistle blower on the racism and corruption of Gerard Batten who I know to be a liar and without principles.

As now it seems The Guardian has seen fit eventually to expose!

Ukip MEP says British Muslims should sign charter rejecting violence

A Ukip MEP believes that British Muslims should sign a special code of conduct and warns that it was a big mistake for Europe to allow “an explosion of mosques across their land”.

Gerard Batten, who represents London and is member of the party’s executive, told the Guardian on Tuesday that he stood by a “charter of Muslim understanding”, which he commissioned in 2006.

The document asks Muslims to sign a declaration rejecting violence and says that certain parts of the Qur’an that promote “violent physical Jihad” should be regarded as “inapplicable, invalid and non-Islamic”.

Critics said his comments represent the “ugliest side of Ukip” and “overlap with the far-right”, in spite of the efforts of party leader Nigel Farage to create a disciplined election machine ahead of the European elections.

Asked on Tuesday about the charter, Batten told the Guardian he had written it with a friend, who is an Islamic scholar, and could not see why “any reasonable, normal person” would object to signing it.

Batten also repeated his view that some Muslim texts need updating, claiming some say “kill Jews wherever you find them and various things like that”.

“If that represents the thinking of modern people, there’s something wrong, in which case maybe they need to revise their thinking. If they say they cannot revise their thinking on those issues, then who’s got the problem –us or them?” he added.

Asked why Muslims have been singled out, rather than followers of other faiths like Christians or Jews, Batten said: “Christians aren’t blowing people up at the moment, are they? Are there any bombs going off round the world which are claimed by Christian organisations? I don’t think so.”

In a separate video interview from 2010, Batten also proposed a ban on new mosques across Europe, suggested Muslim countries should not be “appeased” and warned of the threats of having “two incompatible systems living in the same place at the same time”.

Farage’s attempts to rid the party of “Walter Mitty” types comes after a stream of controversies about Ukip politicians, including the party’s suspension of a councillor for blaming flooding on gay marriage and the ejection of MEP Godfrey Bloom following comments about women and sending foreign aid to “bongo-bongo land”.

With Ukip hoping to top the polls in May’s European elections, Batten is top of the party’s MEP candidate list for London, having passed a round of psychometric testing to make sure his views were acceptable.

However, Batten – Ukip’s spokesman on immigration and a former candidate for London mayor – appears to have held some controversial positions on Islam for some time. His “proposed charter of Muslim understanding” was written in 2006 by Sam Solomon, a former Muslim who converted to Christianity, with a foreword by the MEP himself.

In a press release from the time, published on Ukip’s website, Batten calls on Muslims to sign a five-point affirmation, in which they would promise to accept equality, reject violence in the name of religion, and accept a need to “re-examine and address the meaning and application of certain Islamic texts and doctrines”.

Asked on Tuesday whether he still believed Muslims should sign the charter, Batten said: “I don’t suppose the pope would disagree with it or the archbishop of Canterbury or anybody else. So why should they feel aggrieved that they might be asked to sign. They don’t have to. If they don’t believe in those five points, they don’t have to sign it.”

In the 2010 interview, Batten suggests a ban on new mosques in “our cities” and warns it was wrong to have allowed so many already.

“They don’t allow Christian churches or Hindu temples to be built or any kind of non-Muslim place of worship in many of their countries and certainly not in the heartland of their religion,” he said. “Well, if they don’t allow it, why can they expect to see their religion tolerated somewhere else?

Asked about his views on the building of mosques, Batten told the Guardian: “Why do we allow the wholesale building of mosques by a religion that refuses in its heartland to acknowledge other people’s right to worship a different religion?”

And pressed on whether he was confusing individual Muslims with the actions of some Muslim states, he said: “They should be protesting about people being arrested in Saudi Arabia for carrying a bible. Maybe that’s what they should be getting upset about and protesting about. Showing they are in the same mindset as the rest of us.”

Rehman Chishti, Tory MP for Gillingham and Rainham, said Batten’s position was “shocking”, particularly the charter’s suggestion that parts of the Qur’an should be rendered “inapplicable”. “If Nigel Farage had any credibility, he would quite clearly not allow this individual to stand for office in Ukip,” he said.

Sadiq Khan, Labour’s shadow London minister, also said he was “appalled at the ignorance that Gerard Batten appears to have shown when speaking about the faith that I and hundreds of thousands of British Muslims practice”.

Mary Honeyball, a Labour MEP for London, said Batten “represents the ugliest side of Ukip”. “Batten’s views overlap with the far-right. The idea that Muslims should be singled out in the way he suggests is a relic from a darker, more prejudiced time,” she said.

Some of Batten’s other controversial views include bringing back the death penalty for certain crimes. He has also sought to highlight the issue of powerful politicians attending the secretive Bilderberg conference and immigration of Romanians and Bulgarians.

In a statement to the Guardian, Batten later said: “I would expect the fundamentalists to agree with me that democracy is incompatible with fundamentalist Islam. Moderate Muslims have to decide which side of the argument they are on.

“Who is in favour of jihad? Apart from the jihadists of course? I was, and still am, happy to speak out against it. It is amusing that the Guardian equates being opposed to extremism and jihadism as ‘overlapping with the far-right’. So are left-wing liberals in favour of jjihad? If not, do they overlap too?”

Some may remember my comment on a posting on 06-Nov-2009

Hi,
Do not forget Gerard Batten colluded in the orchestrated cover-up of Tom Wise’s criminality. Do not forget that Gerard Batten never missed an opportunity to lie about me due to his embarrassment in being shown to be without morality with regard to Tom Wise. Do not forget that Gerard Batten colluded with Derek Clark MEP & the corrupt Douglas Denny to pillory and orchestrate a Kangarroo Court ensuring Peter Baker was denied a fair hearing by blocking the ONLY valid witness. Do remember that Gerard Batten is associated with Mike McGough who is a proven liar and cheat. Do remember Gerard Batten permitted the publication of a private letter from John Wise permitting the bullying and lies of the vile Mike McGough on the internet. Do remember that Gerard Batten failed to do ANYTHING to address the corruption of the MEP selection process and the returning officer’s report. Do remember Gerard Batten did absolutely nothing publicly to support his staff member Lynda Robson in her Official Complaint as per Returning Officer’s exposure of corruption and dishonesty. Gerard Batten has not so much as murmered to block association with racists, xenophobes, anti Jewish, pro violence, sexually intolerant colleagues in the Farage Pan EU Political Party/group. This man is indisputably unfit for leadership or as an MEP. Regards, Greg L-W.

A Proposed Charter of Muslim Understanding
By Sam Solomon
Foreword by Gerard Batten
UK Independence Party
Member of the European Parliament for London
1st Edition – December 2006
Revised Edition – April 2007

Seemingly distributed via Gerard Batten’s UKIP office and no doubt at the expense of UKIP Funds, which he  is entitled to. Funds that were allocated for the use of UKIP and to further the Leave-The-EU aims of UKIP!

One is forced to speculate as to whether Harold Batten was the printer and what that was billed out as

Whatever your superstitions or beliefs I can not believe that even UKIP is stupid enough to have endorsed Gerard Batten’s evil and divisive racism be that on colour, creed or views!

A Proposed Charter of Muslim Understanding
Affirmation

I, the undersigned, as an individual, or as an official representative
of an organisation, accept in principle the need to re-examine and
address the meaning and application of certain Islamic texts and
doctrines; and that the issues identified in the Proposed Charter of
Muslim Understanding represent the basis for further discussion of
these issues.
I affirm my belief in:
1. The equality of all human beings, before God and the law
2. Equal rights for women, in principle and practice
3. The rejection of coercion, intimidation and violence in the
name of religion
4. Religious freedom and rejection of the persecution of those
who convert from one faith to another
5. Tolerance of other religions, and their believers, and the
rejection of religious teachings that discriminate against
others on the basis of their religious beliefs.

One has to wonder who and what degree of malevolence was required for someone to believe this garbage has any place in British politics – You will note the fanciful assumption that religion is a plausible concept on which any sane individual could legislate!!

Can one rationally believe that ANY of this childish drivel has any part in a campaign to Leave-The-EU – Here is more nauseating clandestine material being published under cover by Gerard Batten it would seem – One must wonder who exactly he sees to be his master and surely even UKIP would not subscribe to this racist prejudice:

CONFIDENTIAL

DRAFT

Dismantling Multiculturalism

Policy Discussion Document

10th February 2011

Multiculturalism has failed

Multiculturalism depends on the proposition that all cultures, cultural beliefs, customs and practices are equally valid. Mass immigration into many western countries for the last forty years or more has brought with it some cultures and cultural practices that are alien to western cultures and liberal, democratic political systems. Instead of taking a robust attitude against these alien practices western countries have mostly adopted an attitude of appeasement and cultural relativism. Western Governments have been terrified of criticising or standing up against these practices for fear of being branded ‘racist’ or ‘Islamaphobic’.

Most European and Western countries are multi-ethnic societies and is no reason why people of difference racial and ethnic origins cannot live together peacefully; but to do so requires emphasising those things we have in common rather than those things that separate us.  It requires that all citizens living in a given state have broadly the same allegiance, loyalty and belief in a common set of public and political institutions and the acceptance of one legal system. Multiculturalism does precisely the opposite: it creates different and competing groups within one public and political space and is a recipe for division and conflict.

Many European and Western countries have adopted a policy of state-sponsored multiculturalism, designed to preserve and enshrine the beliefs and cultural practices of migrants and to protect and advance them by law and public subsidy. The objective was that the policy of multiculturalism would help absorb and integrate vast waves of migrants from foreign lands. In that it has conspicuously failed – as now has been publicly attested by figures such as Trevor Philips Head of the Race Relations Commission, President Angela Merkel of Germany, President Sarkosy of France, and latterly Prime Minister David Cameron of the UK, to name just four.

However from the point of view of those groups that use multiculturalism to promote their own separate interests it has and is succeeding and they have a vested interest in seeing it continue.

Private Multiculturalism Good: Public Multiculturalism Bad.

A clear distinction must be drawn between private and public multiculturalism. The private practice of religious and cultural beliefs, customs and traditions should be precisely that – private. We can all enjoy the private practice of different cultures and beliefs and share them with our friends and neighbours. That is a good and positive thing that can help bring people together.

The public policy of state-sponsored multiculturalism is quite another thing and it has created an increasingly more fractured, divided, contentious and uneasy societies. It cannot go unsaid that the biggest beneficiaries of this public policy of multiculturalism are Islamic fundamentalist and extremists who use it to extend their own power and influence in order to bring about their long term goal of an Islamic or Islamic dominated state in each one of those countries where they settle. Multiculturalism also undermines those moderate Muslims who wish to embrace Western values but see power and influence being extended to their extremist co-religionists.

Islamic fundamentalism is the cuckoo in the Western multicultural nest. We can either address it now or be destroyed by it in the course of time.

Dismantling Multiculturalism

This short paper is not a detailed history, analysis and critique of multiculturalism and its failure. It is taken as a given that it has failed and has to be dismantled. The points below are suggested policies that could be adopted by political parties and governments of any political colour and in any country in the world that wishes to preserve and promote common western liberal democratic values. The points below are specifically aimed at Britain but can adapted as required.

Policy Suggestions

  1. Recognise that Christianity is the cultural heritage of Britain and affirm the secular nature of government and public institutions. This should be recognised by an exception for the Church of England as the historically established church but bishops should be removed from their positions in the House of Lords and the Monarch should lose the power (exercised through the Prime Minister) to appoint the Archbishop of Canterbury.

  1. A commitment to end the policy of state-sponsored and funded multiculturalism by local and national government.

  1. A commitment to promote a common public culture, expressed in a common language (excluding existing historic regional differences), one legal system and one set of political institutions – none other should be formally recognised by the state.

  1. There must be equal application of the law. There can be no separation of people based on religious practices in public places, e.g. in swimming pools and hospital chapels.

  1. There must be one language used in national and political institutions and publicly funded places (excluding historical differences such a Welsh in Wales or Gaelic in Scotland). InEngland only English must be displayed in public buildings such as local and national government offices, universities, colleges, schools, hospitals, clinics etc.

  1. Repeal the Act of Parliament that recognises Sharia law in some tribunals, (e.g. for family law, child custody, inheritance etc). Sharia law must be given no official recognition or legal status whatsoever.

  1. Repeal the Act (???) that gives official recognition to Islamic Banking. There must be no financial or banking regulations based on religious law.

  1. Repeal those Acts (???) which give recognition to polygamous marriage for tax or social security and benefits purposes. There must be no official or legal recognition of polygamous marriages.

  1. Stop all government funding to organisations that promote religious fundamentalist or extremist views, e.g. the Muslim Council of Britain, the Quilliam Foundation, the Union of Imams & Mosques in the UK and Ireland etc. Any organisation that requests public funding must be required to sign and actively abide by a Code of Conduct (see Appendix I).

  1. Social Security and benefits payments can only be claimed in English where the recipient has been living in the UK for 12 months or more. For those who have entered the UK and do not speak English subsidised English classes must be made available.

  1. No granting of planning permission to religious organisations that: do not abide by and actively practice a Code of Conduct (see Appendix I); are funded from outside the UK  unless they have a special dispensation from the Home Secretary, such dispensations should discretionary and will only granted where it can clearly be shown where the money originates from, and where it can be demonstrated that it is not from extremist sources, or is intended to promote religious fundamentalist or extremist views.

  1. Repeal the Religious Hatred Act (???). The promotion of hatred or violence against individuals or groups is catered for under the normal criminal law. No religious belief system or ideology may be protected from criticism by law.

  1. Ensure that the law on forced marriages and female genital mutilation is rigorously enforced.

  1. Religious schools should only be allowed where they can sign and show actively to abide by a Code of Conduct (see Appendix I).

  1. Repeal the Act of Parliament that gives exception for ritual slaughter for religious reasons. These are outmoded and barbaric practices that have no place in the 21st century or n the light of humane animal welfare policies.

  1. Something on the funding of universities???

  1. Enact a law of face coverings in public places. (see Appendix II)

END

Appendix I

Code of Conduct

To be added as per existing ‘Affirmation’

Appendix II

Face Coverings Policy

To be added later a per existing ‘burka and face coverings policy’.
One must wonder what twisted mind outside of Nazi Germany would believe this acceptable or even moral – Herman Goerring would be proud of Gerard Batten’s efforts and many will remember Nigel Farage & Mark Croucher‘s collusion to exploit their BNP friends like Buster Motram who was a family friend of Nigel farage’s whom he had personally sponsored within UKIP as with his own Election Agent from The National Front!
Nigel Farage was set to not just orchestrate his own Crystal Nacht to seek to rid himself of his enemies (those who believed in probity and that ALL were answerable to the members and the rule of law) – Their own Reichstag Fire was in place and when triggered by Farage at an NEC meeting the low grad clowns on the NEC like puppets jumped through every hoop placed before them.

The result of this ‘Night of The Long Knives’ was the removal of Dr. Eric Edmond & Dr. David Abbott from the NEC despite their undeniable elected status. The removal of honest men made way for more sycophantic and dishonest puppets – the likes of the fantasistDouglas Denny, the odious and idiotic Mick McGough and others – now UKIP has the misfortune of the Tory reject and the image of sleaze that the risible Niel Hamilton brings as his main contribution to his own very personal ambitions!

Nigel Farage embroiled in row over lack of leadership

Claims by former prospective MEP David Gale regarding Ukip leadership trigger debate over party direction

Nigel Farage has become embroiled in a potentially damaging internal row over allegations that Ukip’s leadership has failed to act on serious matters of governance, including taking steps to dissociate the party from a convicted paedophile.

The incendiary accusations have seen a former prospective Ukip MEP resign from the party and led to toxic claims that the party lacks a robust system for examining internal complaints.

But a Ukip spokeswoman has said the claims had no foundation, had been investigated, and were the views of a disgruntled member who had failed to get the party to back his candidacy.

In a letter to Farage, obtained by the Observer, David Gale, interim chief executive of Kids for Cash UK, a charity that campaigns against paedophiles, said he had no choice but to resign from the party after becoming frustrated that his fears about a registered sex offender and Ukip supporter were not being taken seriously. The issue was also raised by other members of Ukip, according to emails sent to its chairman, Steve Crowther, seen by the Observer.

“The party’s response has been absolutely extraordinary,” Gale said. “They’ve done nothing. This is another example of Ukip’s structural weaknesses.” Gale suggested the party had chosen to close ranks rather than examine his allegations. In claims fiercely denied by the party, Gale warns Farage: “There is a core faction associated with the party that is being used as a ‘Black Ops’ dirty tricks team against targets that include party members.”

He tells Farage: “I believe that your own deep insecurity and paranoia have played a significant part in the party’s Night of the Long Knives” – a reference to a recent purge when a number of party members were asked to leave Ukip.

Gale, who stood as a Ukip police and crime commissioner, claimed there was evidence social media were being manipulated by people close to the party.

“There is increasing evidence that points to Ukip members close to the party’s headquarters being involved in the creation of cloned Facebook pages which have featured damaging fake posts falsely attributed to Ukip members,” Gale writes. “Screen grabs of these posts have been fed to the press, third hand, in an attempt to smear the targeted individuals and as a precursor to removing them from the party. These are potentially criminal acts.”

The accusations have been bandied back and forth in recent weeks, triggering an internal debate among Ukip’s members about the party’s direction. A number are concerned that Ukip has become too centralised under Farage and that Crowther has failed to act on serious allegations involving fraud, claims denied by the party.

“I have been raising the issue of the lack of scrutiny and governance within the party’s management,” Gale tells Farage. “One of the starkest examples of this lack of governance has been the tolerance of the party’s continued association with a convicted paedophile who, whilst no longer being a member, has continued to attend party functions and provide strategic Ukip documentation from his personal website.”

Gale said he had supplied evidence of the registered sex offender’s continued involvement with Ukip to the party. The man, whose name is known to the Observer, has campaigned on its behalf and blogs on party issues. He was placed on the sex offenders register for life in 1999, having served a 30-month sentence for offences involving children.

Gale told Farage: “My efforts to raise the alarm have been ignored by the leadership, it being left to me to contact branches to alert them to potential risks to members and to have photographs of the paedophile campaigning for Ukip removed from branch websites.”

A Ukip spokeswoman said Gale’s complaints had been investigated fully. “These are entirely bogus allegations,” she said. “They represent a deliberate attempt to cause trouble for the party by someone on his departure.”

However, the row raises questions over Farage’s leadership. Considered to be the party’s greatest asset, there are questions among Ukip grassroots members about whether Farage is focused on gaining a seat in the House of Lords.

“It’s no secret Farage is focused on a peerage,” Gale said.

whether one likes Godfrey Bloom or Nigel Farage is not of any consequence, in the field of politics they are both dangerous fools in political terms, with their childish antics and undeniable racism and lack of competence or gravitas that is doing so much harm to the EUroSceptic cause.

Clearly the more dangerous is Nigel Farage, as some people are gullible enough to ‘follow’ him, resulting in his destruction of UKIP as a political party and its replacement with his cult led by a Harry Enfieldesque – braying, strident caricature of a 1980s Hurray Henry.

One need only watch him being lampooned by Diane Abbott & Michael Portillo and mocked by Andrew Neal

Bloom lets out a great snort.
He’s not interested. He’s not interested in the running of the party, or in making policy.
He’s Ukip’s chief salesman, that’s what Nigel is.

Nigel’s not interested in the running of the party, or making policy.

He’s Ukip’s chief salesman’Farage, he despairs, can’t take criticism, goes to pieces in a crisis, is really a conservative, and doesn’t even want to lead the party. “He’s not a team player, you see.

He didn’t play rugger. Plays golf!”

Bloom accuses Ukip’s leader of pursuing an “Ein Führer” leadership policy and a “No-policy” policy agenda, and claims Farage has already struck a secret election deal with the Tories in return for a seat in the Lords
.
These are some of the kinder things Bloom says about his flatmate Farage.

Having studied and dealt with Nigel Farage for well over a dozen years I regret Godfrey Bloom, liability to the EUroSceptic cause that he is, is spot on accurate about Nigel Farage, his incompetence, his insecurity and his thirst for position and money that clearly overide all other considerations.

It is quite astonishing that so many of the lesser Tories see Farage’s cult as a threat in any real terms though clearly UKIP has beguilled some of the more gullible – as Farage points out at every opportunity: A huge percentage of UKIP voters have absolutely no interest in politics and didn’t even vote in previous elections!

I for one do not feel that a drunken, braying entertainer represents me or British values in any way whatsoever!

Bloom reminds me of the small child, of whom the vain are warned, as he shouts out ‘The Emperor has no clothes on‘.

Let us not forget that Godfrey Bloom was dishonestly and corruptly put in place by Nigel Farage – yet another display of his incompetence in man management and ineptitude in character judgement that has marred his efforts to be taken seriously as a politician and not seen as a latter day Arthur Daley used car salesman, braying bon viveur and crashing bore, pint in hand & so common in many pubs, with a following of supporters, for as long as he buys the drinks!

Ukip’s Godfrey Bloom: ‘I just can’t resist a punch-up’

Godfrey Bloom split from Ukip in dramatic style earlier this year after an infamous speech denouncing aid to ‘bongo bongo land’ and a bust-up with party leader Nigel Farage. They’re still mates, he says – but perhaps not after Nigel reads this

Godfrey Bloom formerly of ukip

Godfrey Bloom‘s study in his Yorkshire home looks so exactly as one would expect that it could almost be a stage set.

The walls are lined with military figurines, sporting trophies, photos of rugby teams and a ceremonial cricket bat, and the occupant plays the part of a blimpish ex-army caricature with terrific brio. He barks, “Bloom here. Hello my dear boy!” down the phone, refers to his wife as “Mrs Bloom”, wears a tweed cap, drives an MG, and loves to get roaring drunk.

He’d enjoyed a particularly satisfactory seven-hour drinking session in Brussels only two days earlier.“Hit it hard. And the beer there is all five on the Richter scale.

At the rugby club it’s 3.5. I can drink 3.5 all day.” His recent memoir is a lament for the 50s and the golden era of empire, the vernacular of “iffy” and “whizzo” and a cavalier approach to punctuation evidently all his own work, unless PG Wodehouse has taken up ghostwriting. Incorrigibly unbiddable and surprisingly camp, he reminds me of Giles Brandreth.

Unlike most politicians, Bloom loves to be interviewed, because “I never have to worry about what I said last time, because I’ve never changed my views.” About anything? “No. Never.” His brain, he boasts, tapping a temple, is “hermetically sealed.”

But beneath all the sergeant’s mess cliches there seems to be a surprisingly thoughtful person.
A former financial analyst, he likes to digress into little lessons on economic history, and obviously wishes people would see what an erudite intellectual he is. “Most people don’t know how the government fiddles the numbers. I do.”

He’s a dreadful show off, so there are constant references to political theorists, but he is genuinely interested in ideas, and certainly cleverer than most people probably imagine.

Whether anyone could ever be as clever as he likes to see himself, I am not sure.

When I ask who the brain of Ukip is today he hoots, “There are no brains of the party.” It used to be him? “Well, certainly one of the leading brains, yes.”

What about Nigel Farage – what’s he like when it comes to policy? Bloom lets out a great snort. “He’s not interested. He’s not interested in the running of the party, or in making policy. He’s Ukip’s chief salesman, that’s what Nigel is.”

Bloom and Farage have been great friends ever since the early days of Ukip. They share a flat in Brussels, a near-identical sense of humour and a manner so alike that if I close my eyes it could be Farage in the room. But at Ukip’s conference in September the leader withdrew the party whip from his friend in a fury, after Bloom risked an ill-advised joke about women being “sluts”, and whacked the Channel 4 news reporter Michael Crick over the head with a rolled-up conference programme.

Bloom refers to the ding-dong as “Crickgate”, and is not unaware of its comic dimension.I’m sure Bloom had resolved not to say anything unkind about Farage today – and on a personal level he mostly manages to be generous and warm.

When it comes to politics, however, he cannot help himself. Farage, he despairs, can’t take criticism, goes to pieces in a crisis, is really a conservative, and doesn’t even want to lead the party.

“He’s not a team player, you see. He didn’t play rugger. Plays golf!” Bloom accuses Ukip’s leader of pursuing an “Ein Führer” leadership policy and a “No-policy” policy agenda, and claims Farage has already struck a secret election deal with the Tories in return for a seat in the Lords.

Relations had been breaking down since the spring, when Farage appeared to change his mind about flat tax in the middle of Question Time.

Bloom asked what was going on, and “I got a quite hysterical text back: ‘Your job is to get out there delivering leaflets instead of asking me about policy!’

I thought, I’m your economics spokesman. You want me to deliver leaflets? Hysterical!”

Things got worse in July after Bloom’s infamous speech denouncing foreign aid to “Bongo bongo land”. Unnerved by the media uproar, Farage told him to apologise. “I said, ‘I don’t do apologies. If you keep a cool head, you will find it swings my way.'”

I don’t know anyone who changed their mind and decided “Bongo bongo land” wasn’t highly offensive after all – but Bloom insists: “We got more than 15,000 emails, only 47 against. I think we can deduce from that that I had massive public support.” But that was when the real trouble set in.

Link to video: Godfrey Bloom hits journalist Michael Crick with Ukip brochure

Farage complained to him: “Whenever I’m interviewed now, people want to talk about you.” Bloom thinks his friend became threatened by his media profile and public popularity, and that Crickgate had a lot to do with jealousy. “I’d taken the spotlight off his speech, that’s what it was all about! It was toys out of the pram.

Let’s be brutally honest. He panicked.

” Farage should have simply said the matter was being investigated, the media were “trying to crack us, but we’re going to stick together”, and moved on. “And the whole audience would have cheered.” He parodies the speech Farage did actually make, putting on a petulant, high-pitched wail and flapping his arms over his shoulders. “That’s it! Conference is ruined! Oh the conference is ruined!’

You know what one elderly Ukip lady said to me afterwards?” he can’t resist adding, “‘He gives girls a bad name’.”

When Farage phoned him up, “He’d lost it badly. Oh, he was really in pieces. It was: ‘Conference is over! No one’s going to look at my speech now!'” But later that day the party secretary told Bloom not to worry, assuring him, “We’ll smooth it all over.

We can’t afford to lose you, you’re too popular.” Bloom woke up the next day, “and there was Nigel Farage on the television, sacking me. I turn on and I’m being sacked on the telly!

It was like seeing your father disinherit you on TV because you broke a casserole dish.”Bloom didn’t think Crickgate had been that big a deal – “Nothing more than if I’d whacked a wasp in a pub garden”.

He doesn’t see how his dismissal could have had anything to do with the sluts joke or the Crick wallop, because his name was removed from the party’s MEP list less than 90 minutes later, before any investigation could have taken place. And he claims Ukip’s success in the north is almost entirely down to him, adding: “I’ve put more money into this party than Paul Sykes has up here. £150 grand. Yeah. From my private savings.

“So why,” he asks, “would they get rid of a huge electoral asset?” He feigns bafflement, before practically shouting: “Because I am diametrically opposed to any deal with the Conservative party! I would never have agreed to it, on a matter of a principle – so I had to go.

According to Bloom, Ukip is in the grip of an internal battle for its future.

At HQ “they are all stabbing each other in the back”, and the grassroots are being deliberately squeezed out. “They have been purged. This is 1933 Germany, night of the long knives. I’m waiting to be dragged out of the pub and butchered.

This is New Ukip now. And they are looking for a deal with the Tories.

Officially, Ukip’s politics are libertarian. But Bloom says Farage has always really been a Conservative, is “desperate to be a Conservative again”, and would pack it all in if we would just get out of Europe and crack down on immigration. “But we’re winning those arguments. We’ve broken through.

Now we’re in phase two. We’ve said what we don’t want, and now we have to say what we do want.

Farage, apparently, disagrees.

The party’s radical libertarian ideas frighten him. More importantly, they would make an electoral pact with the Tories in 2015 much trickier. And so, says Bloom, he has been marginalising grassroots members, sacking troublesome rivals, and turning himself into “a professional politician, with a professional party, so he can be within some alliance with the Conservative party”.

Bloom had to be elbowed out before a pact could be agreed. “And,” he says with confidence, “the deal has already now been done.

He’s unclear on its precise details, but certain that Farage’s reward for standing down Ukip candidates in key seats is a title and a seat in the House of Lords.

Would he want that? Bloom chuckles knowingly – “Not for him, of course!” – and adopts a weaselly, ever-so-‘umble voice. “‘But should one be forced upon me, then for the good of the party, and if people felt I could better serve there, well then … ‘ Of course he would!”Remarkably, Bloom and Farage are still friends. They met a few weeks after conference – in a pub, of course – and decided the disagreement was “strictly professional”. But Bloom isn’t going quietly. He says the whole business has been a blessing – his media profile has doubled, and he’s showered in good will wherever he goes.

“Now I don’t have Ukip antichrist on my forehead, everybody’s much friendlier! Really, it’s a weight off my shoulders. Because now I’m not hamstrung by the no-policy policy, I can start to talk about policy.”

Link to video: Godfrey Bloom: ‘bongo bongo land’ is not racist

Bloom would do away with the welfare state in its entirety, and “get back to the self-help we had in the 19th century. I’m a big believer in Friendly Societies.” Income tax would be flat, all drug use would be decriminalised, and drivers could drink as much as they liked, as long as they could prove they were still fit to drive. (“I could drive perfectly well after four pints.”)

The NHS would no longer be free, and in fact it would be a crime to call any public provision “free”. He’s deviating a little here from libertarian principle, he admits. “But it’s not free! We all have to pay for it.

We disagree about literally everything. But though I think his politics are wrong in every way, they aren’t irrational, nor a ragbag of random prejudice. Every now and then he’ll lapse into rugby club after-dinner speaker mode, which is hectoring and boring. But most of the time he is really thinking, and doesn’t get defensive about flaws in his logic, but positively lights up.

He says he wants strict, Canadian-style immigration controls, but surely, I suggest, once he’s got rid of the welfare state he should open our borders to the world.

The population would self-regulate by everyone competing on a level playing field, and indigenous Britons who didn’t like it could move elsewhere. He looks faintly startled, but quickly thinks it through. “If we could get rid of the welfare state that would work, ye-es. There would be no need for controls. Subject to criminal and health checks, of course.

Followed through to its logical conclusion, Bloom’s libertarianism leads him to problematic places. When he fails to justify opposing gay marriage on libertarian grounds, he admits, “Well, I do want to conserve some things.” He wants to protect people like the Christian B&B owners who turned away a gay couple, arguing “they should be allowed to say exactly who comes in and out of their property”.

Presumably pub landlords then should be allowed to put signs in their window saying “No blacks”?

“Oh. Never really thought about it, actually.” He swears he has never understood racism, doesn’t even notice skin colour, and can’t imagine why any publican would turn away customers. But after careful consideration he says, “Well, I do believe a publican should be allowed to say who he has in his establishment. So yes, his gaff, his rules.”

Given the hot water this should land him in, I find the loyalty to his own libertarian logic oddly touching.

I sincerely hope he’s wrong in thinking most voters share his views. He has decided not to stand as an independent MEP next year – “I wouldn’t have any trouble winning. But do I want to? Nah. Ten years of this game’s enough.” But he might run for Westminster in 2015.

“I just can’t resist a punch-up, that’s the trouble really. I just think it would be a bit of a lark, wouldn’t it?”

Just to correct a couple of facts – Godfrey Bloom is still a member of Nigel Farage’s extremist, racist and anti homosexual EFD Group in the EU. Godfrey Bloom & Farage still sharwe a flat. Nigel Farage has NOT withdrawn the whip from Godfrey Bloom as in EU politics the concept of whipping ones political party or political group is expressly forbidden. There is every possibility that Nigel Farage will reinstate Godfrey Bloom as lead candidate in the EU election in May at the very last minute just as he has the authority to replace any and all the candidates at the last minute – probably a neccessity when one looks at how low grade the present bunch are – sadly however with Farage leading the cult only low grade populist candidates, and rejects & failures from other parties, seem attracted to UKIP.

Farage would seem to have ensured that not a single solitary candidate of any stature or ethical merit features on his list of wannabe wealthy MEPs, lead candidates of singular obscurity backed by gutter sweepings of the Farage fan club, seeing it as an opportunity to ingratiate their way to a hand out from Farage’s funding on the gravy train!

Hi,

it is sad for those who really, really want to see Britain Leave-The-EU to watch the self destruction of UKIP as it persues numbers rather than results, dignity, gravitas or credibility packing its ranks with low grade supporters of little merit who are themselves so clearly betrayed by the clique leading, or so they would claim, and those who are trying to curry favour for a chance to climb on the gravy train.

We had such high hopes for UKIP as active campaigners and supporters of UKIP only to watch the party dragged into the gutter and exploited by a small clique for their personal gain.

Whether one reads the mainstream media or the vile behaviour of the cowardly anonymised foot soldiers who so demean the party in their efforts to defame those who seek honesty, transparency, democracy and integrity of UKIP in an effort to try to make them fit for purpose as the party that could have led Britain to Leave-The-EU – that has lost its way and its morals in an obvious defence of their personal pursuit of riches with no gutter too befouliong to stand in the way of their inept persuit of income and control.

Tories draw neck and neck with Labour as Ukip support falls

political editor

Conservative support surges to see main parties level for first time since March 2012 on 36% of the vote in Guardian/ICM pollDavid Cameron at No 10. Conservatives are convinced that as growth picks up, the polls will swing decisively to them.

The Conservatives have surged to sit alongside Labour in the polls for the first time in nearly 18 months, largely owing to a sharp fall in support for Ukip, according to the latest ICM monthly poll for the Guardian.

Labour will be alarmed that the two main parties are neck and neck despite the economy showing only tentative signs of starting to recover.

ICM’s telephone poll last month showed a strong Labour lead of seven points, but this month the Tories are benefiting from the continuing collapse in support for Ukip, down from 18% in May – just after its local election success – to 12% in June and now just 7%.

The shares of the vote are Conservatives 36% (+7 on last month), Labour 36% (no change), Liberal Democrats 13% (+1), Ukip 7% (-5), and others 8% (-2).Link to this interactive

It is the best result for the Tories in an ICM poll since they led by three points in March 2012, just before George Osborne’s mishandled budget presaged a series of other errors across the government machine.

The fall in the Ukip share may reflect the recent comparative decline in publicity for the party’s leader, Nigel Farage, and Downing Street’s persistent efforts to neutralise Ukip’s appeal by countering with a series of strong messages on immigration, welfare and a referendum on UK membership of the European Union.

It may also suggest that Ukip support is in part a protest vote exercised in relatively unimportant local elections and that this support dissipates once the protest has been registered.

Ukip is likely to argue that the drop in support has not been reflected in most other polls. At the weekend four online polls showed Ukip support in the high teens, but a new Populus poll showed Ukip on 10%.

Farage’s party will also be banking on a big resurgence of interest during the European parliament elections next June, when it will hope to come first in terms of national share of the vote.

The ICM poll findings do not appear to reflect any change in the underlying support for Labour since the party’s standing of 36% remains unchanged on last month – although party supporters may hope to dismiss it as an outlier.

By contrast, the running YouGov daily online poll shows Labour leading by about 11 points, a hardening in its ratings after an apparent softening in the previous fortnight.

The ICM poll also contains a clear warning for the chancellor: two-thirds (65%) do not believe his promise, made last week, that the deficit can be cut after the election without raising taxes.

There is a majority scepticism on this issue across the political spectrum, with 57% of people who voted Conservative in 2010 agreeing (2010 Lab, 70%; 2010 Lib Dem, 75%).

That suggests the Tories will struggle to damage Ed Miliband and Ed Balls in the next election campaign simply by warning of a Labour tax bombshell if elected.

The findings may also reflect the unwillingness of any voter to answer positively if asked a question that implies the respondent trusts a politician.

At the weekend the Lib Dem business secretary, Vince Cable, threw a new argument into the likely election tax and spending debate by saying he did not believe the last Labour government had spent too much in the run-up to the banking crash, but instead had failed to regulate banking.

Other Lib Dems, including the deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, have persistently argued that the deficit was created by Labour overspending before 2008.

But overall, the Conservatives will be delighted with the ICM findings. Conservatives are convinced that as growth picks up over the next 12 months, the polls will swing decisively to them.

Cameron is also due to take the cabinet to a celebratory “away day” at Chequers on Thursday, where they are expected to hear political as well as government briefings before parliament goes into recess. A reshuffle in the ministerial ranks outside cabinet, which had been pencilled in for this week, now looks likely to take place in the autumn.

Conservative ministers are privately sceptical that they have drawn level with Labour yet, basing their judgment on other polls and doorstep response. They still maintain it will be very hard to win an overall Commons majority.

Ed Miliband’s brother, David, in a valedictory TV interview at the weekend, cautioned against the conventional wisdom that a hung parliament was likely after the next election. The British public may move decisively in favour of one of the main parties, he said, adding that there was still a “great danger” they might choose the Tories.

Lib Dems will be concerned at the absence of any sign in the ICM poll that their overall vote is picking up, despite the decline in Ukip support.

The findings appear to confirm the Lib Dems are no longer seen as a protest party, making it harder to win a new constituency.

Danny Alexander, the Lib Dem Treasury chief secretary, will on Tuesday publish the result of a Cabinet Office-led review into a replacement for the Trident nuclear deterrent. The ICM poll shows the public split on the issue.

Three in 10 (31%) think Trident should be replaced (rising to 45% of those who voted Tory in 2010), while an identical number (31%) think it should be slimmed down (rising to 37% among 2010 Lib Dem voters) and 30% think we should no longer have any deterrent (39% among Labour 2010 voters).

In his speech, Alexander is to back a limited replacement.

The poll also shows all three party leaders have judged the public mood correctly by rejecting the 10% increase in MPs’ pay from 2015 proposed by the parliamentary watchdog. The proposed rise would take MPs’ pay to £74,000 in 2015.

The public believe MPs should be paid a shade over £50,000 (£51,620 on average). Men are happier to pay more – at £54,000 – while women think MPs should be paid £49,000. A clear correlation between social grade and pay was revealed: those in the most affluent group, AB, suggest MPs should get £58,000, C1s suggest £55,000, C2s £46,000 and DEs £45,000. Lib Dem voters are the most generous (£61,000), as are people living in the south (£54,000).

ICM Research interviewed a random sample of 1,003 adults aged 18+ by telephone on 12-14 July 2013. Interviews were conducted across the country and the results have been weighted to the profile of all adults. ICM is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.

This seems very similar to the predictions of this blog, in that we have noted a surge in the protest vote where UKIP was ‘used’ as a dustbin for the protest voters seeking their own parties woulmodify their policies.

There has been an upsurge in apparent support for UKIP but as predicted this was little more than a dead cat bounce!

There is no sign of an actual popular uprising against the LibLabCon of which UKIP is a hanger on – The spparent surge in UKIP membership would seem to include dead, past and expired members and as UKIP boasts of a small head office staff it seems all too likely that their records are very poorly kept and deletions are long over due.

Little wonder that UKIP’s principle backer the retired professional gambler Stuart Wheeler has not only watched his fortune diminish, since selling his bettimng business, but has also finally woken up to the near total lack of competent leadership in UKIP, making it clear that firstly he did not trust them and would only donate if HE was appointed Party Treasurer a position in which he was happy to turn a blind eye to what seems to have been the criminal;ity of UKIP’s accounting procedures and the perceived trousering of upwards of £Millions by the small clique at the top.

It is not a matter of look how well UKIP has done in regaining the near 20,000 members he lost but just think how well UKIP might now be doing had they had a leader with the competence to devise strategies, tactics and a clear exit and survival strategy addressing Article #50 and taking a lead rather than seeking to sabotage efforts to petition Parliament to force a referendum debate which was achieved by Nikki Sinclaire the ex UKIP MEP who refused to remain in Nigel Farage’s racist and unpleasant EU EFD Group.

UKIP had chance after chance but as ‘chancers’ they have achieved little more than to provide the media with a useful tool to exploit using UKIP to build a whip with which the LibLabCon could be abused to create a story in default of any notable differences between tyhe main political parties.

It can not have escaped your attention and it surely has not escaped the attention of the very laziest member of the media, that in 20 years UKIP has abjectly failed to make any notabvle inroads in British domestic politics with no MPs, no Police presence with no Mayors and out of 1,700+ candidates put forward a mere 147 elected!

From this obvious failure it is clear UKIP has fallen back since the elections and has come nowhere near gaining seats in subsequent by-elections.

To some extent realising the catastrophic position of his protege party or is that ‘toy’ is now trying to make the party seem to be something other than the one man band it is and portrays itself as as he seeks to restrain Nigel Farage’s showmanship as the only regular representative of the party.

As we predicted and reported some time ago even Ms. James is not only sidelined by the party but openly attacked by some of the parasites seeking approval and income at the gift of Nigel Farage, as with the unpleasant postings made by the unreliable witness and to be frank outright liar, Annabelle Fuller.

Efforts to make the party more professional, as promised year after year by Farage, have been little more than a shambles with the abuse of power as manifest by the undemocratic and self serving determination of Farage to hand choose HIS prospective MEPs, from amongst his cronies and drinking buddies – we even have the risible specter of Farage, endlessly and stupidly presented, of Farage as the cheeky chappie in the pub and always with a drink in hand – the most crass of PR styles available that, though it brings publicity in the short term, has reflected with the serial failure of Farage and his party to achieve anything of note in efforts to reach Westminster beyond destabilising Tory voters adequate4ly to make way for Labour and what a catastrophe that is!

UKIP has thus made way for a return to the unlucky 13 years of destruction of Britain by Labour who are a party at war with itself where it is clear that short of manacle David Milliband to load him on the plane he was forced out of Britain as a clear force against the weak kneed and inept brother he has so clearly left behind! Labour, like UKIP, has no visible alternative totheir present leader whose abilities are clearly inadequate – this leaves way for the hand of their own ‘Brutus’ from amongst their inept and uninspiring leadership claque and the clique itself – In both parties, but there is no one of aptitude with leadertship skills in either party – The Tories are little better off and the LibDims are a joke.

UKIP has lost its way as it lurches along like an habitual drunk, in an ever befuddled state preaching Libertarian claims and practicing centralised authoritarian authoritarian control in a libertine and louche regimen.

UKIP would do far better if it were to spend more time planning, dervising strategy and tactics and showing just how and why Britain will be Better-Off when it Leaves-The-EU whilst trying to understand the Treaties and the importance of The Treat of Vienna and the details of Article #50 and the due process of devising an exit and survival startegy for Britain in the light of the authority of both the various Treaties and the significance of CODEX, The WTO and the like.

Saddly UKIP are unlikely to do the work essential when there is the omni present opportunity of excercising the expense account and getting a drink – as the photos and comments of Nigel Farage and his clique so readily show as they campaign to keep pubs open and smoking as a plus point on the agenda like naughty schoolboys who want to show off!

These are not politicians but self serving aspirants to ego fed incomes beyond their wildest dreams or abilities. They are clearly unfit for purpose and as Stuart Wheeler has made abundantly clear ‘not to be trusted’!
