A Conservative MP who claims that he was falsely accused of sexually assaulting Nigel Farage’s ‘former mistress’ has spoken for the first time about how the incident cost him his marriage and family.

Andrew Bridgen said that Annabelle Fuller, a Ukip spokeswoman, had ‘ruined his life’ after claiming she was groped on the balcony of his Westminster flat in June 2011.

Police were told by an informant last month that Miss Fuller, 32, had concocted the claim after stealing his phone and later confessed she had ‘stitched him up’.

Last week it emerged that detectives have launched a formal investigation into the matter, and Miss Fuller could face being prosecuted for perverting the course of justice if the claims are proven.

After leaving the House of Commons on June 8, 2011, Mr Bridgen stopped for a drink at the Marquis of Granby pub opposite his flat.
He said that going to the pub ‘was probably the biggest mistake of my life’.

After being introduced to Miss Fuller and meeting a civil servant at the pub, who was a mutual acquaintance, the three later went back to Mr Bridgen’s flat.

Mr Bridgen said that Miss Fuller used the bathroom a number of times to make phone calls and on one occasion began complaining about a man she called ‘the bane of my life’.

He said: ‘She added something about the difference between a girlfriend and a mistress is that a girlfriend can start to relax after the third or fourth date, but a mistress has to be perfect all the time.’

Mr Bridgen, 49, who now lives apart from his wife Jackie and their two sons, said he couldn’t talk much more about the incident because of an ongoing police investigation.

After the balcony incident, Miss Fuller left the flat and within hours police had arrested Mr Bridgen.

He spent ten hours being quizzed at a police station, where he had a DNA swab and his blood taken.

The case was dropped within days when Miss Fuller gave police a statement saying that her behaviour could have been construed as flirting.

Later that month, she chose to break the anonymity which is afforded to alleged victims reporting sexual offences to tell her story to a national newspaper.

In that interview she claimed she grazed her head as she ran barefoot from the flat and a security guard made the call to police after seeing her distressed.

She said she didn’t know Mr Bridgen was an MP when she met him in the pub and only  took the MP’s phone and Commons security pass as evidence of where she had been.

She added she never wanted the case against the MP to go ahead and that she had been left ‘suicidal’ after Mr Bridgen threatened to sue over the false accusations.

Six days after the incident, police told him they would not be pursuing the complaint, Mr Bridgen said,  but the damage to his reputation had been done as his name was already in the news.

‘Every time you Google my name that incident comes up,’ he said.

‘She waived her anonymity to give her salacious version of what happened.

‘I never had the option of my name not appearing.

‘I was a falsely accused man with nowhere to hide.

‘Those two-and-a-half hours with Annabelle Fuller have ruined my life.

‘The events of that night and the huge media intrusion of my wife and children that followed led to the end of my marriage.’

He added: ‘I believe the moment I was introduced to her as an MP  I was targeted.’

Last month, MEP Nikki Sinclaire – a former Ukip member – used parliamentary privilege to claim that Miss Fuller had been Mr Farage’s mistress.

The pair have always denied the claims.

Mr Bridgen added that he completely sympathised with former deputy speaker Nigel Evans, who was cleared in court of rape and other allegations on Thursday.

A police spokesman last night said: ‘The Metropolitan Police received information relating to an alleged false claim of sexual assault.

‘The man who was the subject of the allegedly false claim was informed that this has now moved forward into a formal police investigation.’

Last night, Annabelle Fuller said: ‘I have not been arrested, interviewed or questioned by police in regard to this matter.’

Hot on the heels of Godfrey Bloom’s ‘you’re all sluts’ cry to women at a fringe meeting, I learn of further discomfort for UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

This time it is much closer to home, involving his pretty, if seemingly rather naive, PR adviser Annabelle Fuller who tried to defend MEP Bloom before Farage suspended him.

Of course, there’s nothing like a few dirty tricks in politics — especially in conference season — to keep everyone amused.

But fitness aficionado Annabelle, 31, was most definitely not amused when embarrassing emails she allegedly wrote were exposed by a hacker.

 

The messages were between herself and a friend, Sean Howlett, 20 — a former contender for the chairmanship of the party’s youth wing.

They are said to have revealed apparently disparaging remarks Annabelle had written about leading UKIP members, including Diane James, the party’s candidate for the South-East at next year’s European elections

 

The emails were all the more embarrassing because Ms James was also the party’s candidate at this year’s Eastleigh by-election — she lost by 1,771 votes — and employed Annabelle as her press officer for the campaign.

But Annabelle assures me she has nothing but respect and admiration for Diane. 

‘I like her a lot and I have been to the police over the matter,’ she says. ‘People are trying to damage me.

‘I went to the Met because my emails were involved and Sean went to Hertfordshire police because he lives there.

‘We had the addresses of the people who hacked the account, but neither police force wanted to pursue it. I am very disappointed.’

The affair cannot have pleased ebullient Farage, but he remains loyally supportive of Annabelle — in July, I spotted him on his way to take his spokeswoman for a curry near her home in North London after he had spent the day watching the Test match at Lord’s.

Annabelle, however, is the resilient type and is bound to bounce back — just as she did two years ago after Tory MP Andrew Bridgen was arrested over allegations he had groped her on the balcony of his Westminster flat.

She explained at the time that she only went to his flat for ‘a quick fag’, but a security guard called the police after she fled bare-footed in the early hours.

The case was dropped after she told police she did not want to take the incident further.

You will note: I predicted there would be some cock and bull implausible claim of ‘Hacking’ long after the event – just as there were claims she hadn been ‘groped’ (in the presence of others, at Andrew Bridgen’s flat, after she had been drinking all day and had stolen his mobile pjhone, House of Commons pass and a letter (which she admitted) and was arrested.

In both instances the police, it seems, took no further action.

Annabelle Fuller has cost UKIP a great deal over the years with her well documented lies, irresponsibility, foul mouthed outbursts and vile comments.

May I also draw to your attention that the lies told regarding the deliberate leak of information on Annabelle Fuller’s laptop whilst she was in Morrocco, which of course led to UKIP themselves telling a pack of lies both to their members, the press and the courts – also the better informed will remember that it was the cause of the then party chairman, John Whittaker, quitting as he was not prepared to go on telling lies to save Nigel Farage’s face & retain his intimate friend Ms. Annabelle Fuller. Hi,

here are a couple more of the ‘e’Mails that have been sent to me over the years in an effort by senior members of UKIP to try to help to clean-up the party and expose the corruption which has rendered it unfit for purpose as a realistic political party that could help these United Kingdoms Leave-The-EU – Not just act as an enrichment system for a small group of corrupt people and the sweepings of gutter politics across the EU.A clique of self serving and unprofessional rascals aided by cowards too ashamed of their behaviouir to use their own names and others seeking preferment in one form or another and yet others so ignorant and beguiled as not to learn the facts and to act on spin alone!

Below you will note the response of Stuart Wheeler UKIP’s largest visible backer and party treasurer who admits he wishes to remain ignorant of the facts yet who withdrew his support for UKIP to stand against them in the last General Election!

It is clearly understood that he did not trust UKIP under its present leadership to act responsibly with his donations after the election and only returned to support them on condition he could control his own donations as Party Treasurer with a position on UKIP’s MEC!

It seems to me to be morally reprehensible that this man who made his fortune as a professional gambler out of spread betting insists he controls the purse strings of his donations but cares not a jot for facts or the transparency and probity of the party in respect of other people’s money – including the funds of the public purse!

You will note that Mike Nattrass exposes a a number of clear areas of corruption and dishonesty or at least very inappropriate behaviour within the ranks of UKIP’s leadership and as a one time deputy leader of UKIP and a long term UKIP MEP let us remember Mike Nattrass – weak, unreliable, foul mouthed, far from bright or professional and himself from a background of extremist politics in The New Britain Party – a man seemingly with as little loyalty or control of either his zip or his temper does on occasion speak out to tell the truth – many will remember Mike Nattrass’ letter exposes Nigel Farage, do see his contribution in the article at CLICK HERE

It depends where the money is being spent and why there is a shortfall. A little history is indeed very relevant.

If it is because I am under the impression that Nigel was historically using money to fight legal cases against people I support, that I stopped funding UKIP and therefore you can guess my reply if money is sought for court cases.

It is very sad that you do not know a little history, as the same events keep turning up.

UKIP MEPs historically do not know where money goes because we see no accounts and this applies both in Brussels and at HQ, so many of them wonder if Nigel is taking them to the cleaners. This should be an easy matter to rectify …. but it is not.

On “current affairs” (rather than history) You will know who Annebelle Fuller is and I trust you are aware of her relationship with Nigel.  You will also be aware (papers this week) of what appears to be a “Cry rape” case involving Andrew Bridgen MP, Conservative and Miss Fuller! We MEPs all thought Annebelle (his lover) was barred off Nigel’s payroll, yet now we hear she may be still there hiding behind a Limited Company and still taking money from Nigel. Will we ever know how our finances are used?

 

This is why my money went into specific projects which were clearly financially reported.

 

There is so much more to understand, but if you do not like history then the future will be a great surprise.

Your e-mail to me of 14:19 today does say a bit about Nikki Sinclaire.  As I think you know I did not become a member of UKIP or treasurer until March of this year and I made the point, when it was suggested that I might be treasurer, that I wanted to take it on only on the basis that I did not have to investigate the past unless required to do so or asked by the Electoral Commission or something like that.  I do not know the facts about Nikki Sinclaire and I do not think it is for the treasurer to deal with what is obviously an extremely difficult matter.  I have no particular expertise in this area either.

It is abundantly clear to anyone of ANY ethicality must be aware that UKIP in its present manifestation is indisputably unfit for purpose.

You will also note that subsequent to these ‘e’Mail exchanges recently Mike Nattrass has prostituted his brief evidence of some integrity when he exposed UKIP and refused to sit as a member of the racist, corrupt, anti homosexual, anti Jewish extremist group with UKIP in the EU – he briefly supported the Nikki Sinclaire team initiative which obtained a debate in The House of Commons on an IN / OUT Referendum relative to the fundamental human right of self determination concerning membership of the pernicious and damaging EU scam.

Sadly Mike Nattrass’ brief moment of integrity did not last long and he rejoined Nigel Farage and UKIP in the extremist and racist Pan EU EFD Political Group – it is believed he rejoined out of personal need for economic reward and re-election to the gravy train to fund the damage expected by his lack of fidelity which is, we understand, leading to a very costly divorce at a time when his business interests are failing!
