City Spy: Ukip protest shows the party has some gall

Foreign parts: Ukip’s French-made Renault joins the drive for British jobs

UKIP staged a protest this week outside the Southampton plant of car giant Ford, which is ending assembly of Transit vans and closing down.

Nigel Farage’s party was protesting at the transfer of jobs to Turkey, where Transit van output is being consolidated. Ukip said it was a loss of UK vehicle-manufacturing skill and brought along its own Ukip vehicle, which, City Spy’s mole spotted, was a Renault, made by the dastardly French.

Energetically and relentlesly as I personally reject the political stupidity of membership of the corrupt EUropean Union let us not forget that it is UKIP’s oft ‘mouthed’ mantra that Britain is a Global trading Nation and should be permitted to make its own laws for its own people in terms of trade and not have undemocratic and anti British EU regulations imposed.

In this instance Ford motor company would seem to have made just such a decision in its own interest and is relocating a part of its business from Britain to a region outside of the EU – no doubt to get away from restrictive labour practices and unprofitable wages relative to output – as Ford is aiming to be profitable!

It would seem Ford’s decision as a Global trading organisation has little to do with the EU!
