In The Telegraph online there was a strangely ‘unbalanced’ article, inaccurate as it was on so many counts I do conced as anti EU propaganda it had some merit!

The EU’s former chief accountant has laid bare endemic corruption, but our own politicians are too emasculated to care, says Christopher Booker.

Evidence mounts on all sides as to how Britain’s standing in the world is in sad decline. After 10 years as the world’s fourth largest economy, we have now slipped to sixth place behind China and France. In Wednesday’s Daily Telegraph, under the heading “The UK will be missed on the world stage”, Irwin Stelzer wrote about the failure of our military missions to Iraq and Afghanistan, and lamented Britain’s retreat from an effective role alongside our US partners. On the same day, Max Hastings reported a similar story from America itself, where he was shocked to find how far we have lost the respect earned in the days of Mrs Thatcher.
Another, perhaps less obvious, reason why Britain has lost respect is reflected in a shocking new book, published tomorrow, entitled Brussels Laid Bare, by the EU’s sacked former chief accountant, Marta Andreasen. The outline of her story has long been familiar. In 2002, as the first qualified accountant to be given the job, she was appointed to sort out the EU’s accounts, which for six years running had not been cleared by the EU’s Court of Auditors due to a maze of “irregularities”.
In 1999 the entire European Commission had resigned when, thanks not least to a Commission whistleblower, Paul van Buitinen, every kind of fraud and corruption had come to light. Miss Andreasen – who was born to a Danish father, lived in Spain and had worked for various multi-national organisations – began her new job as something of a “European” idealist, hoping she could help to put things right.
As soon as she arrived, she was invited to meet the Court of Auditors. They welcomed her and expressed the hope that she could impose order on chaos, but warned that she would meet stiff opposition, not least from the powerful Frenchman who for years had been in charge of the EU budget. (Although her book changes officials’ names for legal reasons, he is identifiable without much difficulty as Jean-Paul Mingassen.)
As soon as Miss Andreasen began looking at the EU’s accounting system, she saw that it was a shambles. Between the 2000 and 2001 accounts, €200 million had gone missing without explanation. She was told these were “loans” which had been â written off’. Senior officials were authorised to hand out huge sums without any proper records being kept. Accounts were kept on spreadsheets which could be accessed and changed without leaving any trace of who made the changes.
The system was open to fraud in every direction. Almost immediately, however, Miss Andreasen found herself being pressured to sign off the 2001 accounts which, as she said, would be a criminal offence, since this was the responsibility of her predecessor and she had been given none of the information needed to know whether or not they were correct.
It soon became obvious that her attempts to introduce changes were being blocked at every turn. The German budget commissioner, although initially sympathetic, was hopelessly out of her depth. Thus began a horror story only too familiar from the experience of previous whistleblowers, from Van Buitinen to Bernard Connolly, author of The Rotten Heart of Europe – except that Miss Andreasen insists she was not a “whistleblower” but merely trying to do her job.
Her telephone was bugged. She was followed outside the building. In desperation she sought an interview with Neil Kinnock, the Commission Vice-President charged with fighting fraud, but she describes how he treated her with “bullying” contempt. At Lord Kinnock’s instigation, she was first suspended and consigned to a tiny office without a telephone, then dismissed, finally to face disciplinary proceedings,
Thus her life descended into a five-year nightmare, as she faced one tribunal or court after another, all finding her wholly to blame. At one point she had to appear before all the Commissioners, like a naughty child, only one appearing to listen to her while Kinnock made grimacing signs to indicate that she was mad.
Her book reads like a chilling cross between two Kafka novels, The Trial and The Castle. Yet this is the organisation to which our politicians have surrendered much of the power to decide how Britain is governed, and to which British taxpayers now hand over some £13 billion every year with no control over how it is spent.
On June 4, a minority of us will cast our votes in elections to the European Parliament. By a surreal twist, the Danish-Spanish-Argentinian Miss Andreasen will be standing in the East “Euro-region” as lead candidate for the UK Independence Party. But she knows that whoever is elected will make no difference to the nature of a “mega-state” which, as she puts it, is irredeemably corrupt and unreformable. The tragedy is that our own politicians are so emasculated, reduced to expenses-fiddling zombies by this strange form of government we now live under, that most neither know nor care.

I have sent the following comment to The Telegraph:
It is unusual for Mr. Booker not to check his facts or question his sources, clearly he has been impressed by the politically motivated endorsement of this discreditted woman – The track record of her duplicity is clear for all to see.
That she would seem to have passed herself off as Miss when she is clearly married to a Swede and domicile in Barcelona!
Then one has to consider the fact that she failed to tell the EU that she had been suspended without pay by the OECD which can be ascertained by her interview with Tim sebastian live on Hard Talk, after 18 months she clearly lost her case and had, as I remember, costs awarded against her is noteworthy.
Accountancy Age’s story about her also refers to racism!
That Ms. Andreassen has stood to try to get back on the gravy train, as a candidate in Holland and having failed has touted herself round other parties seemingly willing to change her opinions to suit her chances.
Currently she has exploited the duplicity of EUkip, and has been parachuted in as an attempt to make up for the jaded and discreditted other EUkip candidates.
Why would anyone find her book adequately trustworthy that they publish the hand out rather than check the facts?
I would advocate you write upon your ballott paper LEAVE THE EU rather than waste your vote on a politician, for as we have seen on almost all fronts they have shown they are not to be trusted.
Perhaps as a starter it would be worth noting that Chief Accountant, does not mean the same in the EU being from the French ‘chef’, just as Continental vets have a fraction of the training of a British vet. to hold that title/status.
I was surprised to see Booker walk into such a trap. Sorry Christopher, just not up to your usual high standard, and to liken her to Bernard Connolley is just risible.

I could have added that Ms. Andreassen has cheated and lied to become an MEP candidate for EUkip and seemingly demanded an interim salary of £36,000 and expenses to orchestrate their books!
It is worth noting that she failed to show her record (criminal? in as far as employment law may be criminal in respect of the OECD or subsequently The EU are concerned) her suspension from the OECD did not even feature on her CV! Nor I understand the matter of racism – though how a Danish origin individual who was porn to parents who had departed for The Argentine just after WWII, who subsequently has 2 children by a Swede and is domicile in Spain might be ‘racist’ I have no idea – strange perhaps in that for some time she lived in a Post Box before an accomodation address supplied by Malcolm Pearson.
Interestingly the ‘puff’ for the book is by Lord Pearson which is interesting as I doubt he has read it being, I understand, seriously dyslexic and even if Cristopher has read it clearly he made no serious checks! Not even in so far as to which Region Ms. Andreassen has been parachuted into.
Christopher states rather naiively:

However as Ms. Andreassen must be well aware it may make a huge difference as every vote cast for Nigel Farage and EUkip in his region could well be a vote for this discreditted woman!
Has everyone overlooked the fact that despite the publicity being given to EUkip to act as a weapon against The BNP by all the pro EU parties like Lib/Lab/Con Ganley ego party etc. is just a vote for Ms. Andreassen as Farage has promised to resign if he gets 10 or less MEPs.
There are those who try to claim he would only resign as leader but surely no man of any integrity or honour, even a barrow boy, would wish to stay on in a party they had so damaged and split, especially having acted so clearly as a recruiting sargeant for the BNP.
Clearly as next on the list when Farage honourably falls on his sword Andreassen will assume his job as MEP.

EUkip is clearly a busted flush having lost sight of its goals, prostituted its members, lied about its candidates and set some of the most vile people in politics today to work with Searchlight and others to duplicitously attack its opponents and those who speak out and tell the truth about them!
If EUkip had 70 MEPs elected it would be a tragedy for Britain and a disaster for liberty – one only has to look at their abject failure and sell out of the 12 that were elected in 2004. Even Farage set to to stuff his pockets and even colluded in cover-ups of the very criminality he aided Tom Wise in whom he claims he fired – which is a lie.
Tom Wise resigned from the pro EU Ind.Dem.Group Nigel Farage chairs in May 2008 on the Saturday prior to The News of The World article exposing his corruption. Tom Wise remained on as an MEP sheltered by Trevor Colman, Roger Knapman, Nigel Farage and others until his annual membership of EUkip expired in March this year and until February was not only an MEP but also a EUkip Branch Chairman.
That Nigel Farage like a small child in denial claims again and again that EUkip acted swiftly to put right the wrong and remove Tom Wise makes it no less a lie on his part, bringing EUkip into disrepute as he does so often whether with such lies, paying his wife, failing to publish his accounts as promised, drunken brawling, drunken abuse, consorting with prostitutes, serial mistresses, even his fantasies about having had cancer.
Cheeky Chappie he may be, Officer Qualities ZERO, integrity NONE, Leadership talents MISSING and now EUkip finds it is in the position that when he honours his promise to go on the 8th. when the results are published they will find they have a pro EU withdrawalist who is little more than a multi National Political Prostitute in her own right!
TO LEAVE THE EU
What is the exit and survival plan for these United Kingdoms to maximise on the many benefits of leaving The EU. It is the DUTY of our Politicians and Snivil Cervants to ensure the continuity, liberty and right to self determination of our peoples they have a DUTY to protect against crime and secure both our food and our border.
NONE of these DUTIES has a single British politician upheld for 40 years. They have drawn their incomes fraudulently and dishonesty.
Politicians are failing to tell the truth, but so are almost all wanabe Politicians, the MSM and Snivil Cervants.
The fact is that even if EVERY British MEP wanted change in The EU it would achieve NOTHING.
Every single British Politician, of EVERY Party, elected since before we joined the EUropean Common Market, has promised to change The EU’s CAP – In 40 Years they have achieved absolutely NOTHING!
To try to put a value on OUR Freedom is as futile as floccipaucinihilipilification and as odious as the metissage of our societies, as we rummage in the ashes of our ancestors dreams, sacrifices and achievements, the flotsam of our hopes and the jetsam of our lives, consider the Country and Anglosphere which we leave our children and the future, with shame!

Deny the self seeking & meaningless wanabe MEPs the Mythical Mandate for which they clamour. Diktat is imposed from The EU but Law should be made at Westminster, for our Country & our Peoples.
