Sad to note the death on 03-Jul-2012 aged only 56 of one of UKIP’s very few Councillors – stalwart Paul Birch of IoW. Condolences to family

Paul Birch (writer)

Paul Birch (born 25-May-1956 – died 03-Jul-2012 aged only 56) was a British author, engineer and scientist, who has worked in radioastronomy and satellite communications, and latterly wrote full time.

He was a former Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society.

He also notably worked on Orbital rings and Supramundane Habitats.

He stood for the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) in an election taking 11.3% of the vote.[1] He was a Town Councillor in Cowes, Isle of Wight at the time of his death.

The Mayor of Cowes has issued a statement expressing his sorrow at the death of town councillor Paul Birch.

The Cowes Town Council website says:

“The Mayor is very saddened to announce the death of Councillor Paul Birch on 3rd July 2012.”

Paul Birch’s Former colleague the Isle of Wight Councillor and fellow member of Cowes Town Council Lora Peacey-Wilcox said:

“Paul Birch was a very conscientious councillor and great fun. A good man”.

Unfortunately, despite Paul Birch having been a long term and dedicated activist for UKIP, they seem to have failed to either record or thank him for his loyalty and service – A sad reflection on the party he enthusiastically supported!
